Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., accused President-elect Donald Trump and his transition team of "already breaking the law" in light of a weekend report that the Republican has yet to sign ethics pledges that are part of the transition agreements with the Biden administration.

CNN reported Saturday that the ethics agreement, which is required by law under the Presidential Transition Act, an updated version of which was signed into law by Trump in 2020, has yet to be signed. Trump and every member of his transition team is required to sign it, according to the report.

"Donald Trump and his transition team are already breaking the law. I would know because I wrote the law," Warren said in a post to X on Monday. "Incoming presidents are required to prevent conflicts of interest and sign an ethics agreement. This is what illegal corruption looks like."

Trump and his team haven't yet received — and won't — transition briefings until the agreements are signed, according to CNN, which added that the holdup is over the mandatory agreement on ethics issues. CNN reported that details between Trump's transition team and the Biden administration were still getting worked out.

A Trump adviser told CNN that Trump plans to sign the ethics pledge, saying the team is more focused on assembling Trump's Cabinet and building out his administration. Further, the adviser dismissed two deadlines that passed — Sept. 1 and Oct. 1 — without getting signed as "not at all a concern."

However, left-leaning organizations and one Democrat lawmaker sounded the alarm on the missed deadlines and briefings as a potential threat to national security.

In an Oct. 23 letter to Trump and now Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, accused them of refusing to "commit to a smooth transition" by missing the deadline on the Memorandum of Understanding [MOU] with the General Services Administration.

"Without these MOUs in place, federal agencies are unlikely to be able to securely and effectively communicate with your staff, which will endanger 'the orderly transfer of the executive power' and threaten our national security. I strongly urge you to expeditiously sign both MOUs and submit your ethics plan," Raskin wrote.

Formally identified as perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a group of manmade chemicals known as PFAS are found in everything from soil and food to common household items and water. An overabundance of these compounds has been detected in U.S. drinking water and that of other industrialized nations, sparking discussion on control and mitigation among experts.

Exposure to PFAS has been linked to serious chronic health issues such as increased risk of certain cancers, fertility problems, and immune system challenges.

Unlike some industrial chemicals, PFAS don’t break down and are difficult to destroy, thus earning the moniker “forever chemicals.”

Since the 1940s, PFAS compounds have been used in everyday items such as nonstick cookware, water-repellent clothes, stain-resistant fabrics, cosmetics, and firefighting foams, according to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

Able to resist water, grease, oil, and heat, PFAS compounds quickly became popular. More than half a century later, these forever chemicals have become a growing health and environmental concern.

This year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) said it has observed forever chemicals in America’s groundwater at alarming levels, prompting the first-ever national, enforceable standard for drinking water, meant to protect communities from dangerous amounts of PFAS exposure.

“I believe this is a serious public health concern. From what I’ve seen in my work, chemical exposure—even at low levels—can affect communities long-term. And PFAS isn’t something that just disappears,” Previn Pillay, CEO of Pyromin Consulting, told The Epoch Times by email.

Pillay has dealt with complex water contamination issues including waste treatment and government compliance. He said forever chemicals can build up in people and the environment over time, causing a domino effect of negative consequences.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has strongly denied US claims that Iran was involved in an alleged plot to kill President-elect Donald Trump, dismissing the charge as a way to complicate matters between the US and Iran.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan is expected to rule by Nov. 12 whether President-elect Donald Trump can avoid sentencing later this month due to questions surrounding his immunity under the Constitution.

Trump has asked Merchan to reject New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s indictment related to a payment made to adult film actress Stephanie Clifford, also known as Stormy Daniels. A jury found Trump guilty of various related felony counts of falsifying documents.

Trump’s attorneys argued that the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. United States, which granted different levels of criminal immunity for presidents’ official conduct, barred the use of certain evidence and witness testimony.

In his July response to the request to dismiss the indictment, Bragg argued that Trump had waited too long to raise some of his arguments about immunity. He also said a federal judge had deemed the conduct in question—an alleged payment to Clifford—outside of a president’s official duties.

“Nothing in the Supreme Court’s opinion affects my previous conclusion that the hush money payments were private, unofficial acts, outside the bounds of executive authority,” Southern District of New York Judge Alvin Hellerstein said in September, when he refused a request to move the case out of state court on the basis of the Supreme Court’s immunity decision.

Hellerstein already rejected Trump’s request in July 2023 to remove the case to federal court.

Bragg’s office also pointed Merchan to a portion of Hellerstein’s opinion remarking on Trump’s conduct after he entered office.

“Reimbursing Cohen for advancing hush money to Stephanie Clifford cannot be considered the performance of a constitutional duty,” Hellerstein said. “Falsifying business records to hide such reimbursement, and to transform the reimbursement into a business expense for Trump and income to Cohen, likewise does not relate to a presidential duty.”

Cohen paid Clifford before the 2016 presidential election, and Trump was charged for allegedly reimbursing Cohen after Trump had begun his first term of office. Trump maintained the payment was part of a retainer he had with Cohen. Prosecutors said it wasn’t actually part of a retainer but reimbursement for an illegal payment.

According to prosecutors, the Trump Organization illegally falsified documents in order to conceal the payments and in furtherance of another crime, namely, influencing the 2016 election.

In order to prove that, prosecutors heard testimony from former White House staff, as well as from both Cohen and Clifford. That testimony, as well as posts from Trump’s social media account, involved official acts protected under the Supreme Court’s immunity decision, Trump’s legal team said.

After trial, Trump’s attorneys filed a motion telling Merchan, “Because of the implications for the institution of the Presidency, the use of official-acts evidence was a structural error under the federal Constitution that tainted [the District Attorney of New York’s] grand jury proceedings as well as the trial.”

In Trump v. United States, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that official acts—including certain communications to the public—may not be used as evidence against a president.

“It would permit a prosecutor to do indirectly what he cannot do directly—invite the jury to examine acts for which a President is immune from prosecution to nonetheless prove his liability on any charge,” Chief Justice John Roberts said, writing for the majority.

Part of Merchan’s decision-making might take into account what’s known as “harmless error”—an error in the conduct of a trial that is considered not damaging enough to justify overturning a conviction.

In his July memo to Merchan, Bragg said, “And even if some of this evidence was improperly admitted, any error was harmless in light of other overwhelming evidence of defendant’s guilt.”

Bragg added that the Supreme Court’s decision on immunity didn’t preclude the evidence Trump was challenging—such as Trump’s tweets and testimony by former Trump adviser Hope Hicks. And even if it did, Bragg’s office argued, Trump waited too long to make objections based on immunity and should have made them during trial.

Regardless of how Merchan rules, it seems unlikely that Trump will face prison time. Multiple experts told The Epoch Times that serving time would unconstitutionally infringe on Trump’s ability to carry out his duties as president. Alternatively, he could face fines while still a private citizen.

Trump would move on his first day in office to reinstate several executive orders from Mr. Trump’s first term that President Biden had revoked, according to two people in the room who insisted on anonymity to describe the closed-door remarks.

The comments by Ms. Wiles, a Florida political strategist who oversaw Mr. Trump’s winning campaign, were some of her first since he chose her last week as his chief of staff. She was speaking and answering questions in Las Vegas at a private, biannual meeting of the Rockbridge Network, a group of conservative donors that was co-founded by Vice President-elect JD Vance and that has strong representation from the tech industry.

It is common for presidents to immediately issue a series of executive orders upon taking office, and Ms. Wiles did not specify which orders from Mr. Trump’s first term would be reinstated. Some of the actions that Mr. Biden revoked included Mr. Trump’s withdrawal from the World Health Organization; his ban on entry to the country from several predominantly Muslim nations; and his exit from the Paris climate accord.

Ms. Wiles emphasized to the group that the window for Mr. Trump to revolutionize government was more like two years, rather than four. So being prepared on Day 1, she said, was critical. It appeared to be an acknowledgment that most presidents face a difficult midterm election cycle after two years in office.

Transitions are both long and short at the same time, Ms. Wiles said, according to one of the people in the room.

Ms. Wiles was the headliner of the three-day Rockbridge conference. She appeared on Monday before a few hundred donors on a panel alongside some other top Trump campaign aides, including Chris LaCivita, the campaign’s co-manager; Meredith O’Rourke, its fund-raising director; and Tony Fabrizio, the campaign’s top pollster. Other speakers were expected to include Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Donald Trump Jr. and the venture capitalist Marc Andreessen, according to a copy of the agenda seen by The New York Times.

Ms. Wiles and fellow aides also regaled some donors with stories from the campaign trail. At one point, she was asked how the campaign had responded to the first assassination attempt against Mr. Trump.She told the crowd that the campaign had frequently been targetedby hackers and had encountered threats regarding Mr. Trump’s plane.

Ms. Wiles said Mr. Trump had been more willing to present a softer, relaxed public image than during his previous campaigns, sharing photos of him playing golf or with his grandchildren, according to the other person in the room.

The gathering of the Rockbridge Network in Las Vegas was brimming with top Trump aides and donors. The group is likely to emerge as a major power center in Republican politics now that Mr. Vance will occupy the vice presidency.

«In 2018, the California Legislature approved AB 218, a bill that lifted the statute of limitations for three years on child sex abuse litigation and allowed survivors to file suits regardless of when the abuse occurred. That three-year “window” for filing cases that otherwise would have been barred closed on December 31, 2022».

AB 2018 is the California Assembly Bill 218, a law also known as The Child Victims Act, approved back in in October 2019. Until 2022, the law allowed people who was sexually assaulted as a minor to file civil lawsuits although the statute of limitations had already expired.

For the past two years, Dr. Anthony Fauci has received $15,000,000 in taxpayer-funded security services – despite having returned to private citizenship. Open the Books ••discovered the arrangement within a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the U.S. Marshals service and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)== via a Freedom of Information Act request.

Up until at least late September, this agreement between the two government agencies has left the =•American taxpayer on the hook for the costs attached to Dr. Fauci’s lifestyle, which included a publicly-funded chauffeur and a fully staffed U.S. Marshals security detail==. The $15 million does not include the costs associated with his personal security from April 2020 to December 2022, which was handled by the same parties  while he was still serving in government.

Fauci’s security has been a topic of discussion on cable news and in the halls of Congress, but until now, the details of the secret agreement had not been made public.

According to the MOU, protection was available from January 4, 2023-September 20, 2024. The $15 million covers in part:  

• Salaries and benefits for deputies and administrative personnel assigned to Fauci’s protective detail 

• Costs related to transporting Fauci 

• Law enforcement equipment 

The MOU states that the contract could be extended, and it is unknown if it has been. (Oh Hell No, he should be locked up!)  We asked the Marshals Service for clarification, and they did not get back to us within our deadline. We will provide an update if they respond.

The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), who retiredin December of 2022,was one of the most influential figures in America(Mass Murderer) and throughout the world during the coronavirus era. Nearly ubiquitous on cable and broadcast news, Fauci became the face of America’s pandemic response. 

His supporters often spoke of him as a man ofuncontested knowledge, consistently labeling him the world’s foremost “public health expert.” 

But his detractors recall a government official who led the fight to implement years-long draconian restrictions upon the American people, which devastated the fabric of U.S. society, greatly harmed the economy and caused all kinds of additional negative repercussions – including widespread learning loss among America’s youth.

Fauci was never shy to advocate for lockdowns, social distancing, school closures, business closures, mask mandates, and vaccine passports from his powerful federal perch during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

From 2019 to 2022 he was the highest paid federal employee, and he received lucrative cash prizesfrom domestic and international organization that sought to position themselves closely with the man who controlled the distribution of billions of dollars in grantmaking funds. Fauci retired from the federal bureaucracy with a record $480,654 salary. In 2022 Open the Booksestimated his pension would be about $355,000 per year, adding to the considerable fortune of $11 million amassed over his 54 years of government service. The President of the United States makes $400,000 per year. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts made $312,200 in 2023. (They obviously haven't found his hidden bank account, it's probably more like $300 million.)

TheU.S. Marshals Service is a subagency of the Department of Justice, typically tasked with capturing fugitives and protecting judges and court witnesses. In recent years, the Marshals Service has stated it is unable to meet these essential duties due to budget constraints. 

The tragic assassination of a judge’s son in 2020 led to an Inspector General report finding “resource limitations and competing agency budget and staffing priorities” have prevented the agency from providing optimal protection to the nation’s judiciary. The agency’s Fiscal Year 2025 Congressional Budget Request asked for $28.1 million in additional funds to better protect the nation’s judges, according to Reuters. 

While the funds to protect Fauci came from the HHS budget, valuable man hours from limited employee resources were used to staff Fauci’s security detail. 

Other prominent political figures are not as fortunate as Fauci. Robert F. Kennedy Jr.,who led an independent political campaign for president this year, wasdenied Secret Service protection six timesduring the course of his campaign in April 2023, according to National Review. The campaign spent $3 million on private security. He was finally granted protection shortly after the failed attempt on President Trump’s life in July, which was swiftly withdrawn again after he dropped out of the race in August. Kennedy is a person of some means, but he appears to have received much less favorable treatment than Dr. Fauci.

In media interviews about his security detail,Dr Fauci said the costs are necessary and justified because of threats he has received from what he describes as the “extreme radical right.” As detailed in a Newsweek report, a FOIA request revealed 34 instances of threatening language leveled at RFK Jr., including text messages that read, "How about you f*** off or I'll come to your event and shoot every single person who attends..Execution style and i'll broadcast the entire shooting on live TV."[sic]

Why was Fauci granted a year and a half of federal protection – a situation seemingly unique to federal bureaucrats – while a prominent president candidate went without it?

The contract with the U.S. Marshals Service is just the latest example illustrating how taxpayers are left in the dark about the ways their money is being spent, and which private citizens get access to millions in public funds.
