Virginia Giuffre, one of Jeffrey Epstein's most prominent abuse survivors, dies by suicide

Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse, has died by suicide, her family said Friday.

Giuffre, 41, died in Neergabby, Australia, where she had been living for several years.

Giuffre was one of the earliest and loudest voices calling for criminal charges against Epstein and his enablers. Other Epstein abuse survivors later credited her with giving them the courage to speak out.

She also provided critical information to law enforcement that contributed to the investigation into and later the conviction of Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as other investigations by the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York.

"It is with utterly broken hearts that we announce that Virginia passed away last night at her farm in Western Australia," her family said in a statement to NBC News. "She lost her life to suicide, after being a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking."

"Virginia was a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking. She was the light that lifted so many survivors," the statement said. “In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight."

Virginia Giuffre, known for her allegations against Prince Andrew and her description of herself as Jeffrey Epstein's teenage "sex slave," has tragically died by suicide.

The 41-year-old died in Neergabby, Australia, where she had been living for several years, her family stated on Friday.

It comes just weeks after she was released from the hospital just a week after ominously stating she had "four days to live" due to a crash.

Giuffre was rushed to a Perth hospital in Western Australia following a collision with a bus on March 24. Despite her grave claims of kidney failure and a rapidly ticking clock, she was reportedly discharged today.

Her exit from the hospital occurred six days after her April 1 admission. Sources at the hospital confirmed that she left through a back door, flanked by security and a relative, to dodge the press swarm waiting at the front.

Her hospital stay came on the heels of a visit to Joondalup Health Campus, where tests uncovered a kidney issue, leading to her transfer to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital's specialist care.

The mother-of-three raised alarms among her followers when she shared an Instagram post from her hospital bed, showing her face marked with bruises. She captioned the photo: "When a school bus driver comes at you driving 110km as we were slowing for a turn that no matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can," adding, "I've gone into kidney renal failure, they've given me four days to live."

Giuffre gave an exclusive to People magazine, detailing a grave health scare and alluded to something that reportedly happened in January, commenting, "I was able to fight back against Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein who abused and trafficked me… I can no longer stay silent," expressing gratitude for the support she received while battling her health issues.
