‘Ouch’: Ex-Obama Aide Saddened By ‘Depressing’ New Data Showing Trump Took His Old Boss’ Coalition

Former President Barack Obama aide Jon Favreau said during a Friday podcast that fresh data from Democratic firm Catalist on how former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to President Donald Trump in the 2024 election was upsetting, although not surprising.

Catalist’s analysis showed that Harris lost in part due to unprecedentedly garnering under 50% backing from infrequent and new voters, who are typically more young and diverse than the general electorate, according to The Cook Political Report, which initially reported on the analysis on Monday. Favreau, on his “Pod Save America” podcast, expressed particular dismay over The Cook Political Report’s headline stating that Trump had secured Obama’s winning coalition.

“We have been saying since November that we can’t draw too many decisive conclusions about what happened in the election based only on the exit polls — that we have to wait for the gold standard data, which comes from two places:Catalist and Pew,” Favreau said. “We finally got the Catalist data and the headlines out of it were as unsurprising as they were depressing. Kamala Harris lost critical ground with young voters and people of color, especially men of color — especially young men of color. In fact, she gained ground only with married white women and not by much … one point.”

“And super voters in this report — which are people who voted in the last four elections — she did one point better [than former President Joe] Biden among the super voters,” he continued. “But she lost a lot of ground among the irregular voters, people who have voted in just a few of the last four elections. As Amy Walter and Carrie Dann at the Cook Political Report put in their headline, the main conclusion from this report is: ‘The Obama Coalition Turned Into the Trump Coalition.’ Ouch.”

NewsNation political contributor Chris Cillizza on Wednesday also said he was struck by how well Trump performed with nonwhite voters, especially younger ones, based on the new data.

“Latino men moved four times more toward Donald Trump in 2024 than white men without a college degree, which is pretty striking. So again, Latino men 12 points more Republican in 2024 than 2020. That is striking. Men overall six points. Okay, then let’s go to 18 to 29 year olds,” Cillizza said. “So these are the youngest cohort of voters. This had been Barack Obama’s wheelhouse. I mean, he won overwhelmingly, 60 plus percent, with this voting cohort. In 2024, 18 to 29 year olds voted 6% overall — all 18 to 29 year olds — voted 6% more Republican than they had in 2020. But if you look at young people of color, it’s even more striking.”

“Latino 18 to 29 year olds, again, 12 points more Republican than they had been four years ago. Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders nine more points Republican than they had been four years ago,” he continued. “Urban 18 to 29 year olds, those living in cities, 9% more Republican than they had been four years ago.”

Trump performed 1% better with women overall in 2024 against Harris than he did against Biden in 2020. He also did 7% better with Hispanic women and 4% better with Asian-American and Pacific Islander women, neither losing nor gaining ground with black women and white women.

Stanislav Lunev (Russian: Станислав Лунев; born 1946 in Leningrad) is a former Soviet military officer, as of 1992 the highest-ranking GRU officer to defect from Russia to the United States.

Biography

 

Stanislav Lunev was born in Leningrad, to the family of a Soviet Army officer. He graduated from the Suvorov Military School in Vladikavkaz and then from Joint Arms High Command Military Academy.[1] He then worked as a GRU intelligence officer in Singapore in 1978, in China from 1980, and in the United States from 1988. He defected to U.S. authorities in 1992. Since then, he has worked as a consultant to the FBI and the CIA.[2]

Writings

 

Lunev published a book of memoirs, Through the Eyes of the Enemy.[1] In the book, he described his work as a Soviet spy. He said that his work was extremely successful because he followed a very basic rule that "the best spy will be everyone's best friend, not a shadowy figure in the corner."

 

In the book, he also described some active measures against the "Main adversary" and alleged that "the GRU and the KGB helped to fund just about every antiwar movement and organization in America and abroad." According to Lunev, the Soviet Union allegedly spent more money on funding of U.S. anti-war movements during the Vietnam War than on funding and arming the Viet Cong forces.[1]

Nuclear sabotage operations

 

Lunev is mostly known for his description of nuclear sabotage operations that have allegedly been prepared by the KGB and GRU across the Western world. It was known from other sources that large arms caches were hidden by the KGB in many countries for these planned activities. They were booby-trapped with "Lightning" explosive devices. One such cache, which was identified by Vasili Mitrokhin, exploded when Swiss authorities tried to remove it from a location in the woods near Bern. Several others caches were removed successfully.[3]

 

Lunev asserted that some of the hidden caches could contain portable tactical nuclear weapons known as RA-115 "suitcase bombs". Such bombs have been prepared to assassinate US leaders in the event of war, according to him.[4] Lunev states that he had personally looked for hiding places for weapons caches in the Shenandoah Valley area[1] and that "it is surprisingly easy to smuggle nuclear weapons into the US, either across the Mexican border or using a small transport missile that can slip undetected when launched from a Russian airplane.[1]

 

U.S. Congressman Curt Weldon supported claims by Lunev but noted that Lunev had "exaggerated things" according to the FBI.[5] Searches of the areas identified by Lunev, who admitted that he never planted any weapons in the US, have been conducted, "but law-enforcement officials have never found such weapons caches, with or without portable nuclear weapons."[6]

Ranked choice voting means voting will require voting systems that can be manipulated six ways to Sunday.

 

Combined with mail in ballots, voter registration systems that are compromised, elections become a slam dunk for manipulation. I believe Washington state hasn't had a republican governor since mail in ballots.

 

Ranked choice allows a Rhino more leeway to win. Hey, the Rhino was second choice but got more (ahem) votes combined than the first choice. It becomes a win-win for the Dem/Rhino crowd.

Four major partners exit Paul, Weiss after Trump deal

The departures include prominent Democratic lawyer Karen Dunn and former Mueller prosecutor Jeannie Rhee.

 

Also leaving the firm isJeannie Rhee, a former Obama-era Justice Department officialwho previously represented Hillary Clinton in a lawsuit regarding her use of a private email server and later joined special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigative team.

 

Rounding out the departures are Jessica Phillips, who has represented some of the nation’s largest technology companies in court, and William Isaacson, another high-profile trial lawyer once named litigator of the year by The American Lawyer.

 

“We were disappointed not to be able to tell each of you personally and individually the news that we have decided to leave Paul, Weiss to start a new law firm,” Dunn wrote in a goodbye email sent to the firm’s partners. “It has been an honor to work alongside such talented lawyers and to call so many of you our friends. We hope to continue to collaborate with all of you in the years to come and are incredibly grateful for your warm and generous partnership.”

 

Citing the firm’s association with a lawyer who previously investigated Trump for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the executive order cut the firm and its clients off from government contracts, limited the ability of its lawyers to interact with government officials and even threatened to restrict Paul Weiss, attorneys from government buildings.

 

Two federal judges have ruled similar orders against law firms Perkins Coie and Jenner & Block unconstitutional. Two additional firms, WilmerHale and Susman Godfrey, have also sued over similar executive orders and final rulings are pending in those cases.

 

But Paul Weiss and other elite law firms struck deals to try to get in Trump’s good graces.

 

“Paul Weiss is grateful to Bill, Jeannie, Jessica and Karen for their many contributions. We wish them well in all their future endeavors,” the firm said in a statement.

As we often remind ourselves, maintaining aleftist ideology is contingent upon pretending not to know things, and that applies even when you are discussing the opposition not doing something thatyou yourself never did.

 

During a recent podcast interview, President Obama’s former National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, takes the pretending to stratospheric levels needed in order to retain Obama-level pretending.The criticism she rails against is so hilariously hypocriticalI find myself wondering if anyone ever were to call her out, could she even respond.

 

Susan Rice complains about President Trump having a relationship with the duplicitous “Qataris,” who she proclaims are terribly nefarious and dastardly, and no President should have a relationship with Qatar.

 

Laughably, it was Susan Rice herself who constructed the “CIA Finding Memo” for President Obama to sign,which authorized sending Surface to Air missiles to Qatar, which would then be transferred by CIA Director Leon Panetta to Libya. It was Susan Rice herself organizing covert operations inside our government using the horribly nefarious Qataris she now says are terrible.

 

That’s only one background reality amid more than a dozen points of gaslighting hypocrisy I could point out from this interview.However, for the sake of recent headlines, the part where Susan Rice complains about President Trump not trusting or using the CIA’s Presidential Daily Brief is almost too funny {prompted below}.

 

President Obama famously didn’t put any value on the PDB and didn’t even want it,sending it to almost two-dozen staff so he didn’t have to bother with it. Methinks Mrs Rice doth protest too much. WATCH:

Johann Strauss' Blue Danube will be beamed into the cosmos to mark the 200th anniversary of the waltz king's birth.

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra will perform the classical piece.

The celestial send-off on May 31 — livestreamed with free public screenings in Vienna, Madrid and New York — also will celebrate the European Space Agency's founding 50 years ago.

Although the music could be converted into radio signals in real time, according to officials, ESA will relay a pre-recorded version from the orchestra's rehearsal the day before to avoid technical issues.

 

The radio signals will hurtle away at the speed of light, or a mind-blowing more than one billion km/h.

That will put the music past the moon in 1.5 seconds, past Mars in 4.5 minutes, past Jupiter in 37 minutes and past Neptune in four hours.

Within 23 hours, the signals will be as far from Earth as NASA's Voyager 1, the world's most distant spacecraft, at more than 24 billion kilometres in interstellar space.

 

NASA also celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008 by transmitting a song directly into deep space: the Beatles' Across the Universe.

And last year, NASA beamed up Missy Elliott's The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) toward Venus.

Flight controllers at California's Jet Propulsion Laboratory sent a recording of will.i.am's Reach for the Stars to Curiosity in 2012 and the rover relayed it back.

These are all deep-space transmissions as opposed to the melodies streaming between NASA's Mission Control and orbiting crews since the mid-1960s.

Now it's Strauss' turn, after getting passed over for the Voyager Golden Records nearly a half-century ago.

 

Launched in 1977, NASA's twin Voyagers 1 and 2 each carry a gold-plated copper phonograph record, along with a stylus and playing instructions for anyone or anything out there.

The records contain sounds and images of Earth as well as 90 minutes of music.

The late astronomer Carl Sagan led the committee that chose Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Stravinsky pieces, along with modern and indigenous selections.

Among those skipped was Johann Strauss II, whose Blue Danube graced Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi opus 2001: A Space Odyssey.

 

The tourist board in Vienna, where Strauss was born on October 25, 1825, said it aims to correct this "cosmic mistake" by sending the "the most famous of all waltzes" to its destined home among the stars.

ESA's big radio antenna in Spain, part of the space agency's deep-space network, will do the honours.

"Music connects us all through time and space in a very particular way," ESA's director general Josef Aschbacher said.

Several centuries ago in England, the black swan was a popular symbol for the impossible because no such creature had ever been seen. Then came the surprise: Black swans were discovered in Australia. Since then, the bird has symbolized that which seems impossible but can in fact occur. The black swan reminds us that believing something cannot happen is often just a failure of imagination.

 

Parts of society today hold the same view of nuclear war that society in England did of black swans centuries ago: No nuclear war has ever been observed, so it may seem impossible that one would occur. Though nations possess some 16,000 nuclear warheads, deterrence just seems to work. And so, especially with the Cold War a fading memory, attention has shifted elsewhere. But it is just as much of a mistake to think that nuclear war couldn’t happen now as it was to think that black swans couldn’t exist back then.

 

It is true that, in any given year, nuclear war is unlikely, but the chance of it happening is not zero. Stanford professor emeritus Martin Hellman has a great way of explaining the risk. He compares it to a coin of unknown bias, flipped once a year for every year since the first Soviet nuclear weapon test in 1949. For 65 years, the coin has always landed on heads. If the coin had always landed flat on heads, we might think the probability of tails was close to zero. But in some years, the coin has teetered on its edge before falling on heads. Given this, should we still think the probability is near zero?

 

We have, after all, witnessed many teetering-on-the-edge moments. On October 27, 1962, during the Cuban missile crisis, the United States targeted the Soviet submarine B-59 with depth charges. Two out of three Soviet officers wanted to launch the submarine’s nuclear weapons in response, but launch procedures required agreement between all three. On January 25, 1995—after the Cold War—Russian radar detected the launch of a scientific weather rocket over the northern coast of Norway, and radar operators suspected it was a nuclear missile. Yeltsin and his associates decided not to launch a nuclear weapon in retaliation, correctly guessing that the rocket was not actually an attack. And from May to July of 1999, India and Pakistan fought a war over the Kargil district of Kashmir. Both countries already had nuclear weapons, which might have been used had the war escalated.

A Ukrainian drone strike destroyed the dome of a cathedral in Tula Region, Russia in a large-scale overnight UAV raid on the country on Saturday, the regional governor has said.

The drone struck St. Nicholas Cathedral in the village of Yepifan, setting the main spire on fire and completely burning it, Dmitry Milyaev said in a statement on Telegram Sunday morning.

The blast also damaged windows of nearby homes, he added. “The fire has been localized,” Milyaev wrote, adding that there were no casualties.

 

Footage circulating on social media shows the Orthodox cathedral’s dome engulfed in flames, with burning debris tumbling onto the roofs below.

The drone raid damaged civilian homes and outbuildings in other parts of Tula Region, Milyaev said. Russian air defenses shot down 16 UAVs over the region during the assault, according to the country’s military.

In total, 110 drones were intercepted across Russian airspace overnight, the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

 

Ukraine has escalated its drone strikes on civilian targets in Russia in recent days. Nearly 900 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted over Russian regions since Tuesday, according to data from the Russian Defense Ministry.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has described the surge in UAV “terrorist attacks” on non-military targets as a deliberate attempt by Ukraine’s “party of war” to sabotage the recently renewed direct peace negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.

Ukraine’s Western backers, “led by the UK, France, Germany, and the EU leadership,” are facilitating the attacks by supporting “Ukrainian Nazis,” Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

The helicopter carrying Russian President Vladimir Putin was caught in the “epicenter” of a massive Ukrainian drone attack while the president was visiting Kursk Region earlier this week, Yury Dashkin, a commander of an air defense division, has revealed.

Putin traveled to Russia’s Kursk Region on Tuesday for the first time since it was fully liberated from Ukrainian forces in April.

During his trip, the president met with Governor Aleksandr Khinshtein, as well as the heads of local municipalities and volunteers who have been helping those affected by the now-repulsed Ukrainian incursion, according to the Kremlin.

 

In an interview with the channel Russia 1 aired on Sunday, Dashkin revealed that Putin’s helicopter had found itself “in the epicenter of an operation to repel a massive drone attack by the enemy” in Kursk Region.

Kiev launched an “unprecedented” UAV assault on the region when the president was there, with Russian air defenses destroying 46 incoming fixed-wing UAVs, according to Dashkin.

“I would like to stress the fact that the intensity of the attacks during the flight of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s aircraft over the territory of Kursk Region increased significantly,” he said.

 

The air defense units in the area had to “simultaneously conduct anti-aircraft combat and ensure the safety of the president’s helicopter in the air.

The task was accomplished. The attack of the enemy drones was repelled, with all aerial targets being hit,” Dashkin stated. Ukraine significantly intensified its drone strikes inside Russia this past week.

The Foreign Ministry in Moscow reported that 764 drones had been intercepted over Russian territory between Tuesday and Friday.

Sobyanin's report comes following Russia's large-scale missile and drone attack on multiple cities of Ukraine, which killed 12 people and injured 60.

Sobyanin said that emergency crews are on-scene at various locations as to where the debris of at least four drones fell.

 

It was not immediately clear as to the damage caused by the alleged attack, or as to whether there were any casualties.

Moscow's Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Zhukovsky airports were closed for about two hours between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. local time amid the attack, Russian state media reported.

Ukraine's military has not yet commented on the attack and the Kyiv Independent cannot verify information provided by Russian officials.

The attack on Moscow comes after Russia launched 69 missiles and 298 drones overnight , according to Ukraine's Air Force.

 

The Air Force reported that 45 cruise missiles were shot down by air defense and 266 drones were neutralized, while 22 locations recorded a direct strike.

The attacks come one night after one of the heaviest Russian assaults on Kyiv throughout the full-scale war. The attack also coincides with Kyiv Day, a city holiday typically celebrated on the last Sunday in May.

In recent week, Kyiv has ramped up its attack on Moscow, launching hundreds of Ukrainian kamikaze drones towards the Russian capital. While none have appeared to have reached Moscow, the attacks have caused significant disruptions to commuter air traffic.

 

Ukrainian drones have forced at least 218 temporary airport closures across Russia since Jan. 1, independent Russian outlet Novaya Gazeta Europe reported on May 14, citing data from Russia's state aviation agency Rosaviatsia.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Taj Security), Syed Arib Ahmad, stated: “An anti-drone system will be installed at the Taj Mahal complex.

The system will have a range of 7–8 kilometers but will be most effective within a 200-meter radius around the main dome.”

He explained that the system will use a "soft kill" approach by jamming the signal of any unauthorized drone entering the area, effectively disabling it mid-air.

Ahmad also revealed that police personnel are undergoing training to operate the new system, and a dedicated response team is being assembled.

According to Palestinian media, the strike hit a home in Khan Younis, killing nine children of the same family, all under the age of 12.

The father of the family and one of the children, aged 11, were seriously wounded. The mother, Alaa Najjar, a pediatrician at Nasser Hospital, was on duty at the time of the strike.

 

In response to the reports, the IDF confirms it carried out a strike in Khan Younis, saying it targeted several suspects identified at a building close to where ground troops were operating.

“The Khan Younis area is a dangerous combat zone which the IDF ordered civilians to evacuate for their safety before the start of the troops’ operation,” the military says, referring to its warning on Monday.

A very good Sunday morning to you all. Today is the 109th running of the Indy 500. My parents took me to my first race in 1959 (Roger Ward won). Over the years we improved out seats until in 1964 we were lucky enough to nail down 4 front row seats in the Paddock Penthouse. Have had them ever since. That's quite a record. A bit like Green Bay Packer season tickets. My parents have passed on, but my husband and I still technically own the tickets although we no longer attend–can't do all that walking or the stairs. I hate getting old. At any rate, my sons now split the tickets and sit in the same seats as Gramma and Grandpa did. Hubby and I will be watching the race on TV and trying to catch a glimpse of the boys if the camera pans their way. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Iranian F-14s Once Battled UFOs

According to journalist Babak Taghvaee, writing in a 2013 issue of Combat Aircraft magazine, the Iranian air force’s fleet of 1970s-vintage F-14 Tomcat fighters spent the early 2000s chasing around mysterious flying, glowing objects over Iran’s nuclear facilities.

The Iranians believed the objects were spy drones belonging to the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, sent to sniff out Tehran’s atomic weapons program.

 

But they attributed to these alleged unmanned aerial vehicles flight characteristics and capabilities far beyond what any known drone could achieve.

And in 2012, one of the alleged flying robots apparently also shot down an F-14 attempting to intercept it. Or at least some Iranians seemed to believe so.

Honestly, I have no idea what to make of any of this.

 

The Shah’s Tomcats

The Shah of Iran ordered 80 F-14s from Grumman in the early 1970s and had received 79 of them by the time of the 1979 Islamic revolution that deposed the Shah and turned Iran from a strong U.S. ally to one of America’s bitterest enemies.

The twin-engine, swing-wing F-14s, then among the most powerful interceptors in the world, are still the flagships of the Iranian air force.

The sudden cut-off of U.S. assistance meant hard times for the Tomcat fleet, as did the brutal war with Iraq in the 1980s.

 

But Iranian state industry learned to fix and modify the F-14s, thanks in part to plans and equipment acquired from American sources by Tehran’s spies.

In the early 2000s, Iran still operated some 50 Tomcats—and they would soon be the only operational examples left in the world as the U.S. Navy finally replaced its own F-14s with newer jets.

 

Over the decades Tehran has built several major nuclear facilities that can help assemble atomic weapons: in particular, reactors at Bushehr and Arak and an enrichment plant at Natanz.

This infrastructure became public knowledge in 2002. No doubt the CIA took a strong interest. “A number of reconnaissance UAVs were sent to collect intelligence to prepare for a possible attack” by Western forces, Taghvaee writes.

To protect the nuke facilities, in 2004 Iran deployed a task force composed of eight McDonnell Douglas F-4E Phantom II fighters and eight F-14s plus a former Boeing 707 airliner and a Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules cargo plane outfitted with sensors and radios for command and control.

 

The task force encountered what it believed were CIA drones with “astonishing flight characteristics.” The UAVs could jam radars and disrupt interceptors’ navigation systems.

They flew “outside the atmosphere” at speeds of up to Mach 10. They could hover. Flying at night, they emitted a telltale blue light that led to their nickname: “luminous objects.”

 

“In several cases … F-14s faced them but were unable to operate their armament systems properly,” Taghvaee wrote.

One Tomcat taking off to intercept a luminous object on Jan. 26, 2012 mysteriously exploded, killing both crewmen.

Taghvaee implied the alleged UAV was somehow responsible, as the F-14 in question was “one of the fittest” of the 40 or so Tomcats then in service.

 

Yes, but …

It should go without saying that the CIA and the Pentagon routinely fly reconnaissance aircraft near—and even over—Iranian nuclear sites.

In late 2012 and again the following spring, Iranian fighters tried to intercept American Predator drones outside Tehran’s airspace.

In the March 2013 incident, a U.S. Air Force Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor stealth fighter blocked the intercept with some Top Gun-style theatrics.

 

In 2009, the USAF copped to the existence of a new, previously secret drone operated in conjunction with the intelligence agency.

The Lockheed Martin RQ-170 Sentinel was based in southern Afghanistan within short flying distance of Iran. In December 2011, a Sentinel crashed on the Afghanistan-Iran border and was captured by Iranian troops.

Neither the Predator nor the Sentinel is particularly high-flying; neither can hover or glow blue. And neither has the electrical power to scramble radars and navigation gear.

 

The USAF and CIA currently operate secretive Lockheed Martin RQ-180 drones, likely among other covert types.

But it’s safe to say the drones aren’t capable of Mach-10 hypersonic flight—the Pentagon is still struggling to reach Mach 5.

So if Iranian F-14s truly were chasing around super-fast, super-high-flying and lethal UFOs more than a decade ago, what exactly were they?

Hell if I know.

81 years after he died in World War II, a young aviator comes home

 

For many years after 2nd Lt. Thomas V. Kelly Jr. was killed in World War II, his parents kept his empty bedroom like a shrine to their only son.

 

In the local cemetery, they placed a memorial stone etched with his name and an image of his Army Air Forces bomber. His body had been lost when the plane was shot down and sank to the bottom of the ocean.

 

Kelly was 21. His mother, Theresa, saved his letters, including one that arrived weeks after his death. When his mother, father, Thomas Sr., and sister, Betty, died, they were laid to rest by his stone.

 

On Memorial Day, 81 years after he was killed off the coast of New Guinea, and two years after his remains were recovered from the underwater crash site, Kelly is to be buried beside his family in Livermore, California.

 

The burial is the culmination of a 12-year search by his relatives — launched on Memorial Day 2013 — that was joined by the Navy, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) and the nonprofit partnership Project Recover.

Zhong Nanshan, one of China’s leading pulmonologists and epidemiologists, said in an interview with China-based media on May 19 that the “razor blade throat” symptom is more pronounced in this wave of resurgence, accompanied by more frequent coughing.

 

“Razor blade throat” is a term used in China to describe severe throat pain, akin to swallowing shattered glass or razor blades.

 

Dr. Li Tongzeng, director of the Infectious Diseases Department at Beijing You’an Hospital, told Chinese media that the new wave of COVID-19, which began in March, is expected to peak in late May.

 

According to Zhong, the dominant strain in this wave is the Omicron XDV variant, which is highly transmissible but relatively less virulent. Early symptoms include fever, headaches, fatigue, a burning throat, and severe coughing.

Ukraine Tried To Attack Putin’s Helicopter Mid-Flight, Russia Alleges, Responds With Massive Strikes On Kiev

 

The Kremlin as well as Russian state media are alleging a huge, potentially conflict-altering incident which will surely escalate the war in Ukraine - an attempted attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin himself.

 

A high-ranking Russian military commander on Sunday described that last week, as Putin traveled to the Kursk region for the first time since is liberation after 6+ months of Ukrainian occupation, Ukraine tried to attack Putin's helicopter mid-flight, sending a wave of drones to swarm the flight path of the chopper.

 

The presidential helicopter was caught in the "epicenter" of a massive Ukrainian drone attack, commander of an air defense division in Kursk, Yury Dashkin, told Russian media. The headline is the top featured story of English-language RT on Sunday, something which suggests the allegations are largely aimed at grabbing the attention of the West.

 

The incident is said to have happened Tuesday as the helicopter transported Putin to tour Kursk - a southern oblast which has suffered much destruction since the initial Ukrainian cross-border incursion of last August.

 

Commander Yury Dashkin told Russia 1 in an interview which aired Sunday said that Putin’s helicopter had found itself "in the epicenter of an operation to repel a massive drone attack by the enemy" in Kursk Region.

 

He went on to describe that this "unprecedented" attack was successfully repelled by anti-air defenses in the region. Air defense units in the area had to "simultaneously conduct anti-aircraft combat and ensure the safety of the president’s helicopter in the air. The task was accomplished," Dashkin stated. "The attack of the enemy drones was repelled, with all aerial targets being hit."

 

While this could just be a mid-level officer's attempt to toot his own horn, given the world is just hearing about what's tantamount to an 'assassination attempt' on one of the world's most powerful leaders being alleged - and coming belatedly a number of days after the incident in question - this seems part of Moscow's ongoing messaging that the UAV incursions are an attempt to derail the US-brokered peace talks between Moscow and Kiev.

 

The drones are being launched on Russia in record numbers, with literally multiple hundreds sent over the past week, in some cases halting inbound and outbound flights at major airports, including in the Moscow area. Ukrainian officials have boasted that the operations is trying to disrupt and destabilize daily life in Russia, in hopes that the government could lose control.

Made in the USA does not include made by U.S. citizens. Immigration via work visa's is still ongoing. Companies are still laying off tech workers while calling for more H1B's. I know P can stand for pharma but ultimately, I think it stands for profit for greed. Not sharing the profits and uplifting all, but making sure the top 1% stay that way.

 

Until U.S. workers are protected, only half the job is done. Invasions take on different methods. NSF purposely lied about needing more STEM people, then imported more H1B's and in the process, which discouraged or put out of work American citizens. We are slowly being diminished in other ways.

The US is essentially facilitating the persecution of Christians in Ukraine by supporting the Kiev government, which has been waging a purge campaign against the nation’s canonical Orthodox church, American journalist Tucker Carlson has said.

 

Carlson made the statement during an interview with a former Ukrainian MP, Vadim Novinsky, released on Friday.

 

“Every day, churches and temples are seized by soldiers with machine guns who come in, throw out priests, beat believers, children, old people, women…” the former lawmaker stated, adding that “it is happening all over Ukraine.”

 

“I think very few Americans understand the degree to which the Ukrainian government under [Vladimir] Zelensky has persecuted the Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” Carlson said.

 

The former Fox News host then asked Novinsky what he would like to say to the American lawmakers who have nevertheless approved financial aid to Kiev. “The Speaker of the House of the United States Congress is a man who describes himself as a Christian and he has been paying for this,” the journalist said, referring to Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican.

 

The former Ukrainian MP replied that he would like to see the US aid going directly to ordinary Ukrainians and not the authorities, who “live in parallel realities.”

 

US government agencies appropriated a total of $182.8 billion on various forms of assistance to Kiev between 2022 and the end of 2024, according to Ukraine Oversight, an official portal that tracks such expenditures.

 

Last week, US President Donald Trump stated he was concerned that billions of dollars were being wasted on aid to Ukraine. He said Congress was “very upset about it” and that lawmakers were asking where all the money was going.

 

Kiev has accused the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) of maintaining ties to Russia even though it declared independence from the Moscow Patriarchate in May 2022. The crackdown has included numerous arrests of clergymen and church raids, one of the most notorious of which took place in the catacombs of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, where holy relics are kept.

 

Last year, Zelensky signed legislation allowing the state to ban religious organizations affiliated with governments that Kiev deems “aggressors,” effectively targeting the UOC.

 

Earlier this week, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow would not abandon the Orthodox believers in Ukraine and vowed to make sure that “their lawful rights are respected.”

New York Governor Kathy Hochul Complains Republican Spending Bill Could Cut Services to ‘Members of the Undocumented Community’

 

New York’s Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul recently gave an interview to Telemundo in which she complained about the new Republican spending bill, claiming that it could adversely effect ‘members of the undocumented community.’ That’s Democrat speak for illegal aliens.

 

In voicing this concern, Hochul is ignoring the fact that millions of Americans voted for this. People watched for years under Biden as New York put illegal aliens up in luxury hotels and fed them three meals a day, spending untold billions of dollars on these people as American citizens suffered under the inflation of the Biden economy.

 

Perhaps New York wouldn’t find itself in this position if the state hadn’t spent a fortune month after month, catering to people who were in the country illegally.

DOJ: Houston-Based Cartel Drug Ring Used Taco Trucks To Distribute Drugs

 

Federal authorities arrested several members of a cartel-connected Houston-based drug ring that allegedly used taco trucks to store and distribute different kinds of drugs. The group reportedly moved large quantities of multiple drugs including heroin, meth, cocaine, mushrooms, pills and marijuana.

 

This week, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the unsealing of a 29-count indictment against 15 members of a Houston-based drug ring accused of numerous drug trafficking and weapons charges. The group allegedly would move various quantities of drugs from South Texas to Houston and then distribute them, authorities claimed. Recently, authorities arrested most members of the group.

 

According to federal prosecutors, one of the group members, Marcos Rene Simaj Guch, went by the nickname Taco Man and ran food trucks for the organization that they would use to sell drugs out of.

 

“As alleged, this drug trafficking organization imported methamphetamine directly from Mexico and used the U.S. mail, a taco truck, and homes in different Houston neighborhoods to distribute and sell methamphetamine and other dangerous drugs,” said Matthew R. Galeotti, Head of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, in a prepared statement.

 

As part of the raids to take down the group, authorities seized a large number of weapons, including handguns and rifles.

 

“The defendants are alleged to have engaged in a multi-drug narcotics distribution ring, and, as often seen in the drug trade, are also alleged to have used illegal firearms to facilitate their enterprise,” said U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas Nicholas J. Ganjei in a prepared statement. “Some of the charges indicate methamphetamine was alleged to have been sourced from Mexico, and thus this investigation highlights why this office’s enforcement efforts on the border are so critical.”

Former Kennedy Center Execs Fabricated Financials To Hide Deficit Spending, Internal Docs Show

 

Internal documents obtained by The Daily Wire reveal the extent of the deficit spending that occurred at The Kennedy Center under the Biden administration — a scheme that left the performing arts center deep in debt and could open leaders up to potential legal action.

 

Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell this week told the organization’s board of directors that, under the direction of recently departed president Debra Rutter, the group “found $26 million in phantom revenue, fake revenue.”

 

“It’s criminal,” Grenell said, adding that “We’re going to refer this to the U.S. attorney’s office.”

 

Rutter denied the allegations, telling the Washington Post that she and her leadership team prepared a budget each year that was approved by the board of directors. But in a letter to Grenell obtained by The Daily Wire, Kennedy Center Chief Financial Officer Donna Arduin says that Rutter’s budget claim is irrelevant.

 

“Budgets and audits are on vastly different timetables and audits do not review the budgeting process,” Arduin wrote. “Audits are released up to a half year after the conclusion of the fiscal year, whereas budgets are approved well in advance of the fiscal year.”

 

Arduin, known as one of the nation’s leading budget experts, came to the Kennedy Center after stints in top roles across the country. She’s been brought in to right the budgets of California under Arnold Schwarzenegger, New York under George Pataki, and Florida under Jeb Bush.

 

In her months at the Kennedy Center, she determined that Kennedy Center leadership “veiled the fiscal year 2025 budget with $26 million in fictitious revenue and did not properly disclose such to the Board,” according to a letter to Grenell. In short, Arduin writes in the letter, “the Board believed that they were in good faith passing a balanced budget.”

 

Additionally, Arduin notes in her letter to Grenell that “under Rutter’s watch, the Center’s leadership team changed the name of the debt reserve fund that held $54 million of donor contributions for the retirement of our bank loan to the ‘sustainability fund,’ apparently to appear that new funds had been raised for budget sustainability, and spent it to mask deficits.”

 

This is the latest revelation of trouble at the Kennedy Center, which has become a flashpoint in the second Trump administration. Trump has pledged to make serious improvements to the performing arts center, repairing its outdated facilities and purging its repertoire of drag shows and other “woke” programming.

 

Program offerings under former Kennedy Center leadership may have contributed to its dire financial straits. Sources with knowledge of the Center’s financial situation tell The Daily Wire that its programming has a net margin of negative $72 million. Under Grenell, The Kennedy Center is focusing on shows that will sell tickets and appeal to a wider audience.

 

The Kennedy Center operates on a $230 million annual budget. A portion of its revenue, allocated by Congress, is earmarked for capital costs and facilities maintenance. The remainder of the Center’s money comes from donors.

Virginia Police Release Bodycam Footage of Former Afghan Military Interpreter Opening Fire on Police

As the story is told, Jamal Wali, 36, was allegedly brought to the US in 2014 after working as an interpreter for the US forces in Afghanistan. He was pulled over for a routine violation in Fairfax, Virginia.

 

The obviously unstable Mr Wali shouted profanities at the police, professed his hatred for the United States and regret for not supporting the Taliban, and then eventually ended up opening fire on the police officers present.The shooting happened earlier this month, and the Virginia police released the bodycam footage earlier today.

Report Says British Government Knowingly Funding Hamas With Millions

A bombshell new report states that the British government is knowingly sending millions of pounds to the terrorist group Hamas.

 

NGO Monitor obtained a British Consulate-General in Jerusalem (BCGJ) document dated November 2022 with a plan for “UK Humanitarian Support in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

 

The document notes distribution of “multi-purpose cash” assistance in Gaza. The document states, “The cash assistance component will be implemented in coordination with the Ministry of Social Development MoSD. … The MoSD in Gaza is affiliated with the de facto authorities and thus UK Aid can be linked directly or indirectly with supporting the de factor [sic] authority (Hamas) in Gaza which is part of a proscribed group.”

 

“Since taking control of Gaza in 2007, Hamas has employed a number of methods to divert international aid,” NGO Monitor wrote. “By exploiting monies and material intended for humanitarian purposes, the terrorist organization expanded its military infrastructure, paid salaries, and cemented its rule. More disturbingly, this aid diversion was central in Hamas’ preparations for the October 7 massacre, including the construction of tunnels and other military installations, and stockpiling supplies and resources.”

 

“Hamas has exercised effective control over the MoSD in Gaza for several years. In April 2019, Hamas appointed a politburo member, Ghazi Hamad, to lead the Ministry,” NGO Monitor notes. “As of July 2024, Hamas leader and politburo member, Ghazi Hamad, heads the Gaza branch of the MoSd. … In November 2024, the US Treasury Department designated Hamad, labeling him a “senior Hamas official. … In an October 24, 2023 interview on Lebanese television, Hamad hailed the October 7th massacre.”

 

“A Hamas-controlled entity was an integral partner in determining how cash assistance provided by the UK government to UNICEF would be distributed in Gaza,” NGO Monitor’s Anne Herzberg explained.

 

Israeli journalist Amit Segal noted after reading the report that the funding appears to have continued after the Hamas terrorist offensive.

 

“But maybe London changed its policy after October 7?“ Segal asked rhetorically. “Well, in March 2024, UNICEF wrote that it ‘maintained and strengthened the partnership with the MoSD,’ adding in November that ‘this humanitarian cash transfer program in the Gaza Strip is supported by the European Union, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).’”

A Gaza aid delivery project described as neutral and run by American contractors was conceived by several Israelis, including businessmen with close links to the government, raising concerns over transparency and neutrality, The New York Times reported Saturday.

 

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) is a US- and Israel-backed aid organization that was established to manage a new model for distributing humanitarian aid in the Strip in a manner that does not allow its diversion by Hamas.

 

It was built in close coordination with Israel amid mounting mistrust between Jerusalem and UN-backed aid groups that have been operating in the Strip to date, but the organization and US officials have maintained that it is an independent and neutral body.

 

However, the NYT report revealed that the project wasn’t simply built in coordination with Israel, but is “an Israeli brainchild.”

 

The idea was first proposed in late 2023 at “private meetings of like-minded officials, military officers and business people with close ties to the Israeli government” who believed the government lacked a long-term Gaza strategy, the report said.

 

The report posited that the “project’s genesis” occurred when “hundreds of thousands of Israeli civilians rejoined the military as reservists, many of them reaching positions of influence,” following the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attacks.

 

This created “a huge cohort of Israelis with one foot in the military and another in civilian life, blurring the boundary between the two worlds.”

 

The group’s central idea was to bypass traditional aid channels like the UN by hiring private contractors to distribute aid in pockets of Gaza under Israeli control, thus weakening Hamas’s grip without formally assuming responsibility for Gaza’s civilian population.

 

Key players in the new plan included venture capitalist Michael Eisenberg, who was not in the military, Yotam HaCohen, a strategic consultant who joined the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and later became an aide to the prime minister’s military secretary Brig. Gen. Roman Gofman, and Liran Tancman, a tech investor also affiliated with COGAT.

 

By early 2024, Israeli officials had begun promoting Philip F. Reilly, a former senior CIA officer who trained Contra fighters in Nicaragua and served as CIA station chief in Kabul, as their preferred contractor.

 

Reilly confirmed to the newspaper that he met with Eisenberg and Tancman and began discussing Gaza aid with Israeli civilians that year.

Already, in the hours following the cease-fire announcement, Trump announced his administration would lift sanctions brought by the Biden administration against violent Israeli settlers. According to the United Nations, settlers were responsible for more than one thousand attacks on Palestinians last year — the highest level of Israeli settler violence ever recorded.

 

On Wednesday, hours before the cease-fire deal was formally announced, Israeli regulators approved a deal that gave Kushner nearly 10 percent ownership in Phoenix Financial Ltd, a major Israeli finance and insurance firm, making him the company’s largest shareholder.

 

Affinity Partners, Kushner’s private equity firm that is backed by a $2 billion investment from Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund and the source of several Senate investigations, first invested in Phoenix Financial back in July, acquiring a 4.95 percent stake in the company. At the time, Affinity proposed to double that share if regulators gave the green light. This week, they did.

 

“Investing in Phoenix in July 2024 was a decision rooted in my belief in Israel’s resiliency and the fundamentals of Phoenix’s business,” Kushner told Bloomberg News. “Six months later, the increased value of our shares reaffirms my conviction — both in Israel’s strength and the growing promise of Phoenix.”

 

Ending violence in the region could benefit Phoenix Financial’s bottom line.

 

In July, the Phoenix Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Phoenix Financial, received an A- rating from S&P Global, an independent credit rating company. The grade is the same as the company’s previous rating from December 2023. However, S&P noted in its latest rating that although Phoenix Insurance will not likely be financially impacted by conflict in the region, there could be negative economic consequences “if the conflict were to spread more widely.”

 

“A widening of the scope of the conflict beyond Gaza could also prompt a negative action,” the ratings company noted.

 

Phoenix Financial, one of Israel’s largest financial and insurance firms, has financed and insured construction projects throughout Israeli settlements in the West Bank and the Syrian Golan Heights. Phoenix owns an 80 percent stake in a large shopping mall in an East Jerusalem settlement and stakes in various companies operating throughout other settlements, according to Who Profits, a research center that investigates companies profiting from Israeli occupation.

 

Phoenix Financial, previously known as Phoenix Holdings, has helped finance wind and solar projects in Israeli settlements and provided financial services to the local councils of settlements, including the Beitar Illit and Oranit settlements in the West Bank.

 

The Israeli government approved a plan in December to expand settlements in the Golan Heights by investing more than $11 million to “encourage demographic growth” in the region, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said. The new expansion plan was announced a week after Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fled the country as rebels seized control of the capital.

Who is Robert Stephen Ford?

 

In a bitter irony, Robert Stephen Ford is no “Moderate” as portrayed by the media. He was from the very outset in January 2011, involved in carrying out the “extremism threat” scenario including the channeling of military aid to the Al Qaeda affiliated rebels. including Al Nusra.

 

I was in Damascus in mid-January 2011 when Robert Ford presented his credentials to President Bashar Al Assad. I was familiar with his role as “number two official” at the Embassy in Iraq under Ambassador John Negroponte.

 

Negroponte’s mandate as US ambassador to Iraq (together with Robert S. Ford) was to coordinate out of the US embassy, the covert recruitment and support to death squads and paramilitary groups in Iraq with a view to fomenting sectarian violence and weakening the resistance movement. GOP Senator Calls For Investigation Into $4.7 Trillion In 'Untraceable' Treasury Payments

 

In February, Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) uncovered $4.7 trillion in payments made by the US Treasury that are "almost impossible" to trace - as Treasury Account Symbol (TAS) identification codes were optional in the system. This left billions in payments blank and unable to be traced.

 

"Of the 1.5 billion payments that we send out every year, they are required to have a TAS, a Treasury Account Symbol. We discovered that more than one third of those payments did not have a TAS number," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services earlier this month.

 

"In the Federal Government, the TAS field was optional for ~$4.7 Trillion in payments and was often left blank, making traceability almost impossible," DOGE announced via its X account. Thanks to DOGE, those "optional" days are over. “…this is now a required field, increasing insight into where money is actually going," DOGE added.

 

So while the TAS field is now mandatory, Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) has called for an investigation into where the untraceable payments have been going.

 

"There's so much waste. There's so much fraud, There's so much abuse in our government," Schmitt told Fox News. "I'm glad there was a laser-like focus on it. We ought to make many of those reforms permanent, but there probably ought to be some investigations here about where this money actually went. I mean this is taxpayer money. People work hard."

 

In March. Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) introduced a bill - the LEDGER Act - requiring the Treasury Department to track all payments.

 

"When you hear about this story that they didn't know where the money was going, it makes you mad because this is somebody's money, this is taxpayers' money when we have almost $37 trillion in debt, so this makes no sense at all," said Scott.

 

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) noted that the United States "paid out more last year on our debt, $36 trillion in debt, with $950 billion in interest going to bondholders all over the world, including in China. That $950 billion didn't go to build a bridge or an F-35. We paid more on the interest on debt than we did to fund our military."

 

"That is an inflection point that when most countries hit, you look at history, that's when great powers start to decline. So we have to get those savings."
