George Soros rewrote history textbooks for an entire generation across 15 former Soviet countries, and most of them have no idea it happened.

 

Russia also transitioned to the so-called Bologna system. But at some point, the country pulled back from that direction, or rather, the leadership did.

 

At the same time, a similar rewriting of history was happening across all the countries of the former USSR. And as you know, Putin was not there to fix that. So people in those countries effectively woke up one day to a completely different version of history, often the opposite of what they had learned in school, and newer generation is learning traitors as heros.

 

A distorted version of history exists in parts of Europe as well, while in the United States, historical awareness is often minimal to begin with.

Thank you, Chairman Smith, for hosting today’s critical discussion surrounding America’s foster care community. Good afternoon, Chairman LaHood and Ranking Member Davis. Your efforts to shape new legislation within your Subcommittee are of tremendous value to our nation. And to all the Representatives of this prestigious Committee who have worked so hard to introduce decisive reform within foster care, Mr. Miller, Ms. Chu, Mr. Moran, Mr. Yakym, Ms. Moore, Mr. Evans, and Mr. Carey—thank you.

 

I would also like to extend my warm welcome to all of the Congresspeople in attendance today—your bipartisan support is appreciated. And finally, a special thank you to Jocelyn Roni Fetting and Jaydan Matinez.

 

We are gathered here today, not because America’s children rely on us, but rather because America’s children are our moral equals.

 

As parents and leaders, it is our ethical obligation to ensure American children develop emotionally and physically within a safe environment. As a community, we strive to nurture our children’s curiosity, protect their innocence, and guide them with hearts full of care. Through respect, participation, and protection, American parents deliver the essentials to our next generation: housing, nutrition, clothing, and healthcare.

 

In safeguarding our children’s well-being, we shape the integrity of our nation. But to get there, a strong knowledge base is required. Education is the cornerstone of a child’s future. Clearly, education is the foundation that can remain throughout one’s lifetime. Yes, knowledge is permanent.

 

In 2021, I launched Fostering the Future: a nationwide initiative to provide individuals from the foster care community with access to education at the university level. My goal is to prepare these individuals to secure entry-level jobs, become financially independent, and eventually, innovate, create new businesses, and generate employment opportunities.

 

When I first developed Fostering the Future, one thing became very clear: the foster care community requires action over awareness. This truth stands today.

 

I am proud to share that Fostering the Future currently maintains a footprint of over 20 Universities across the country, from coast to coast. In fact, academic institutions such as Vanderbilt University, the University of Miami, Louisiana State University (LSU), University of Virginia (UVA), the University of Texas, the Ohio State University, and the University of Alabama all educate Fostering the Future students.

 

Although reports vary, roughly three percent of individuals in the foster care community earned a college degree in 2025. We can close this gap.

 

But still, foster youth face a special set of challenges outside the classroom that have a serious impact on their academic performance. These issues include housing instability, educational advocacy, financial barriers, transportation, continuity, access to technology, and other related issues.

 

New legislation for the foster care community is a moral imperative.

 

Some of you joined me in the White House last November for the signing of the Fostering the Future Executive Order. And although the EO is a transformative vision, Congress now has the opportunity to create a lasting positive impact on this community. Beginning here in this room, we can once again change people’s lives. With new legislation, we can ensure that opportunity is more than hopeful for individuals in the foster care community—it can be their birthright.

We might want to listen to what the farmers are telling us, because if they don’t grow our food we do not eat. Coming into this year, we were already facing the worst farming crisis in America in at least 50 years. Farmers all over the nation are drowning in debt, and farm bankruptcies have been soaring. In all my years, I have never seen America’s farmers so angry, and now the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz has made things much worse. Spring planting season is here and there is a global scramble for whatever supplies of nitrogen fertilizer that happen to be available. As a result, prices have skyrocketed and farmers all over the planet are facing some incredibly tough choices.

 

Conducted by the American Farm Bureau Federation April 3-11, the survey shows 70% of respondents say fertilizer is so expensive that they will not be able to buy all the fertilizer they need.

 

More than 5,700 farmers, both Farm Bureau members and non-members, from every state and Puerto Rico took the survey. Farm Bureau economists analyzed the results in the latest Market Intel.

 

The analysis reveals that almost 8 in 10 farmers in the southern U.S. say they can’t afford all needed supplies this year, followed by the Northeast and West at 69% and 66%, respectively, compared to 48% of the farmers in the Midwest.

April 15 (UPI) – Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday filed articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, leveling serious criticisms of his handling of the Pentagon and the U.S. attacks on Iran.

 

As Republicans control the House, this move is unlikely to have an effect in 2026. Rep. Yassamin Ansari, D-Ariz., introduced the resolution, which says Hegseth has "demonstrated a willful disregard for the Constitution, abused the powers of his office and acted in a manner grossly incompatible with the rule of law," CBS News reported.

 

The six articles of impeachment cite offenses including waging unauthorized war in Iran and reckless endangerment of U.S. service members, as well as breaking the laws of armed conflict and targeting civilians. Civilian casualties in Iran have included more than 160 people killed in an attack on a girls school in February.

 

They further accuse Hegseth of mishandling sensitive military information, which refers to his use of a Signal group chat on his personal phone to share information on a military operation in Yemen last year.

 

The resolution also says Hegseth obstructed congressional oversight by withholding information on military operations and abused his power by using it for political retribution.

President Trump is sending more military power to the Middle East as Iran rejects our initial peace offers—setting the escalation trap.

 

We can avoid that trap if we are wise enough not to believe our own hype. Bombing Iranian equipment and killing leaders may produce great hype reels, but if the GWOT taught us anything, it is that tactical success does not equal strategic victory.

 

To avoid a major disaster, we must first define what is truly vital to our national interests and act accordingly—regardless of optics of the daily news cycle.

 

We need the Strait of Hormuz open so oil can flow and stability can return to the energy markets and the Gulf region. These are realistic, achievable goals. They can be reached by significantly reducing our military footprint in the region and lifting sanctions on Iran. We can then tout Iran’s agreement not to build a nuclear weapon as a clear win for the media.

 

The key to avoiding the escalation trap and a disastrous quagmire is restraining Israel by drastically limiting the military aid we provide. Israel cannot sustain this fight without us, and will do everything they can to keep us engaged. We must pursue our own objectives, not theirs.

 

If we try to impose a maximalist outcome on Iran (zero enrichment, etc.) this war will undoubtedly escalate—costing American lives, billions more dollars, and ultimately eroding our global standing.

 

We must learn from our past and recognize when it is time to cut our losses and walk away. In the end, working to restore order will strengthen America far more than any military action ever could.

Vice President JD Vance's anti-fraud task force has shut down nearly 500 hospices and home health agencies in Los Angeles alone, Fox News reported.

The figure includes 447 hospices and 23 home health agencies. Collectively, the facilities accounted for roughly $600 million in public funds fraud.

President Donald Trump officially named Vance his "fraud czar" earlier this month, following a series of raids in LA that saw federal authorities target many hospices in the area.

“Where there is fraud, the task force will find it,” a Vance spokesperson told the outlet. “We will not stop until every hard-earned taxpayer dollar goes toward the honest Americans who deserve them.”

That string of operations followed Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Director Dr. Mehmet Oz in January posting videos highlighting the fraudulent hospice problem, linking the issue to the Armenian mafia in the area.

A Florida nursing assistant was sentenced this week to nine years in prison and two years of supervised release for an $11.4 million healthcare fraud and wire fraud conspiracy that sent hundreds of Medicare beneficiaries orthotic braces they did not need.

Court documents say that Christian “Chris” Cruz, 45, of Pompano Beach, Florida, owned and operated a durable medical equipment (DME) supplier based in Florida through which he submitted millions of dollars in false claims to Medicare for medically unnecessary orthotic braces.

Cruz and his co-conspirator paid illegal kickbacks and bribes to obtain signed doctors’ orders. They used these orders to ship orthotic braces to Medicare beneficiaries nationwide and then claim payment from Medicare, including to beneficiaries who neither requested nor needed the braces.

Cruz lied to Medicare, claiming that he was the sole owner and operator of the company, when in fact he shared ownership in the company with his co-conspirator, a convicted felon. Medicare would not have allowed the company to enroll with Medicare if it had known about Cruz’s co-conspirator.

The co-conspirator has been charged but remains at large.
