Sara Carter reveals the exact moment she knew the FBI was spying on then-President-elect Trump | Taylor Penley, Fox News

 

Sara Carter still recalls the moment crucial details behind the Trump-Russia collusion narrative first began to unravel.

 

"I didn’t want to believe what I was seeing," she said in a "Hang Out with Sean Hannity" exclusive.

 

At the time,Carter was working closely with investigative reporter John Solomon when information from sourcesbegan pointing toward possible surveillance of then-President-elect Donald Trump.

 

"I went into John’s office and I said, ‘John, I need to talk to you. I believe that there are people in the FBI spying on President-elect Trump — the duly elected president of the United States,’" she recalled.

 

Solomon, initially in disbelief, sought more details, which prompted him to call his sources.

 

"[He] comes back [and says], 'I’m not too sure.' Then, we start working together on this because we’re not going to let it go."

 

Then something changed. Somewhere along the way, Solomon was approached by unidentified government officials in 2017 who told him he was uncovering what he now alleges is an 11-year conspiracy to undermine Trump.

 

He recalled the mysterious moment on the same podcast in April.

 

"We want to tell you that you’re at the tip of a very large iceberg and you need to keep drilling down,"he said at the time, recalling the officials’ warning.

 

Solomon said the encounter happened shortly after he appeared on Hannity’s television show, where he had been discussing what he described as a sharp rise in the unmasking of Americans’ communications.

 

He had just pulled into his driveway when he saw a government vehicle with its flashers on parked in front of his mailbox. Two men got out of the car, leading him to initially fear he was about to be arrested, only to discover the pair had an important message to relay.

 

"Well, that thing you were talking about tonight on television… it’s far deeper," Solomon recalled one of the men telling him.

 

"And [the man] said, 'There is an incredible political dirty trick that's being carried out using the most awesome powers of the intelligence community.'"

 

According to Solomon, two mystery men urged him to "keep looking."

 

Carter referenced the incident during her own discussion with Hannity, saying that, with help from sources, eventually exposed some crucial details.

 

"I had my sources together, [and] together, we were able to unravel the beginnings of what was to be the most important story in American history," she said.

Alrighty then. Let’s try this again from the top. But this time (hopefully), without an in-person visit from the Department of Homeland Security, and the hacking my device to wipe an entire Substack article five minutes before I publish it.

Iran MP says draft US memo includes $300bn reconstruction pledge

Iranian lawmaker Meysam Zohourian said a current outline of a memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington includes lifting the US naval blockade within 30 days, the withdrawal of American forces from areas around Iran and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran within the same period.

 

Zohourian, secretary of parliament’s Economic Committee, wrote on X that the outline also includes declaring an end to the war, including in Lebanon, a commitment by both sides not to use force against each other, and respect for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 

He said a final agreement would be subject to a 60-day period that could be extended by mutual consent.

 

According to Zohourian, the draft includes a promised $300 billion reconstruction program for Iran if a final agreement is signed, as well as ending US primary and secondary sanctions under a timetable.

 

He said the nuclear section covers Iran not building nuclear weapons and the creation of a mutually acceptable framework for the fate of uranium stockpiles, enrichment and all issues related to Tehran’s nuclear program in a final agreement.

 

Zohourian added that the outline includes freezing Iran’s nuclear program in return for Washington not increasing sanctions during the negotiation period.

 

He said other provisions include exemptions for Iranian oil and petrochemical sales and related services,as well as the gradual release of Iran’s blocked fundsby the United States if negotiations progress.

But first, let’s rewind a bit, back to when Steve Case began working for Von Meister at QCS, the company that would later control half of the world’s internet and users.

 

Steve Case had joined the AOL-precursor, Quantum Computer Services, as VP of Marketing in 1985, then was later named CEO in 1991 after QCS had rebranded to AOL. As CEO, Case soon grew AOL into the largest internet company in history at the time, and the world’s third largest company overall. But it wasn’t always smooth-sailing for them.

 

The same year Case joined the company (1985), QCS was on the verge of bankruptcy, prompting one of its major investors, FRANK J. Ms. Alfonsi has contributed to “60 Minutes”since 2015. She was at the center of a firestorm in December after Ms. Weiss, who was appointed by CBS’s new owner, David Ellison, pulled a 13-minute segment that Ms. Alfonsi had reported on harsh conditions faced by Venezuelan men deported by the Trump administration.

 

At the time, Ms. Alfonsi called the decision “political” in an email to colleagues.Ms. Weiss rejected that charge, saying the reporting “was not ready”; she had suggested several last-minute editorial changes, including that the reporters seek an interviewwith Stephen Miller, the architect of President Trump’s immigration policy.

“There’s a feeling that the wall has come down between editorial independence and corporate interests,” she added. “The concern is we’re going to end up with a broadcast that looks like ‘60 Minutes’ but doesn’t have the courage or the character to produce ‘60 Minutes’ journalism that actually matters.”

 

The uproar over the Salvadoran prison segment came about in part because of Ms. Alfonsi’s email that criticized management, a rarity in the network news business. Some CBS executives privately describedher actions as insubordinate. Ms. Alfonsi said she did not regret sending the email. “I know they said that I was being difficult, but I believed I was doing my job,” she said. Ms. Alfonsi would be the second “60 Minutes” correspondent to depart since Ms. Weiss joined CBS. Anderson Cooper said in February that he would leave the program after 20 years.

 

In a farewell appearance this month,Mr. Cooper told viewers that he hoped “‘60 Minutes’ remains ‘60 Minutes,’” and added, in comments that were perceivedas a subtle dig at CBS: “The independence of ‘60 Minutes’ has been critical. The trust it has with viewers is critical to the success of ‘60 Minutes.’”

China "Drives Off" Dutch Navy Frigate in the Paracel Islands

Chinese and Dutch naval forces had a tense encounter near the Paracel Islands on Wednesday, according to the PLA Southern Theater Command.

 

The Dutch frigate HNLMS De Ruyter was operating in the vicinity of the Paracels, which are administered by China and claimed by Vietnam. According to PLA spokesperson Senior Captain Zhai Shichen, the frigate launched its helicopter multiple times to "intrude into China's territorial airspace."

 

In response, PLA Navy and PLA Air Force assets used "verbal warnings and warning electronic interference" to express the Chinese military's objections. Southern Theater Command claims that it "expelled" the frigate from the area with these measures, citing unspecified laws and regulations for justification.

 

Shichen accused De Ruyter's crew of infringing on China's territorial sovereignty, among other offenses. "We firmly oppose such acts and solemnly demand that the Dutch side immediately cease its infringement and provocative actions," he said.

 

The Dutch defense ministry denies that De Ruyter did anything wrong, and a spokesperson told NU that the frigate is "currently sailing in waters where free movement is permitted."

 

China claims the overwhelming majority of the South China Sea as its own under its sweeping "nine dash line" policy, including large swathes of international waters and the EEZs of neighboring states. Beijing asserts that the policy is consistent with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, but the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague dismissed its expansive claims in 2016. China has refused to acknowledge or abide by the arbitral panel's decision.

 

The area around the Paracels is sensitive for Chinese interests. Chinese contractors have been working actively since last year to expand the footprint of a large atoll, Antelope Reef, dredging it out and adding dozens of acres of usable space.

 

In years past, China's land reclamation projects in the South China Sea have been a prelude to the construction of military facilities. China repeated this pattern throughout early- to mid-2010s in the Spratly Islands, creating sprawling mega-bases with naval harbors, air defenses and bomber-capable runways. This forward base infrastructure supports China Coast Guard, PLA Navy and maritime militia operations inside the Philippine EEZ.

Bulk Cargo Ship Arrives in Cuba Carrying Aid from China

Aid shipments are continuing to arrive in Cuba despite the U.S. efforts to apply pressure on the Communist government of the Caribbean island. In the latest development, a Chinese-owned cargo ship arrived in Havana carrying what is reported to be the first of several major aid shipments coming from China.

 

The bulk cargo ship Sunny Hong (33,847 dwt) was received in Havana by a government delegation on Saturday, May 23, thanking the Chinese for their support. Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called the shipment in a social media posting a “noble gesture of solidarity.”

 

The vessel arrived carrying 15,000 tons of rice from China. The ship had left Qingdao on April 1 and transited the Panama Canal on May 8, but has largely been dark since then despite declaring it was bound for Cuba.

 

Cuba’s Minister of Interior Trade, Betsy Diaz Velazquez, said it was greatly needed, and it would be immediately distributed to all the provinces. Media reports have indicated that Cubans are experiencing food shortages as the U.S. blockade and pressure campaign continue. According to Cuban officials, China has committed to sending a total of 60,000 tons of grain to Cuba.

 

The shipment follows the arrival a week earlier of another aid ship coming from Mexico. Cuban officials said they have received over 3,125 tons of aid from Mexico, including food, medicine, hygiene products, and solar panels, although critics claim little of it is reaching the average Cuban.

 

At the same time, the Christian charity Saint’Egidio International reported that it had dispatched another container on May 15 from Genoa bound for Cuba. They said it is loaded with medicine, medical supplies, and wheelchairs, valued in total at approximately €700,000 (US$815,000). On May 9, another container from the charity reached Havana carrying 22,000 kg of rice and flour, and the charity said another container with 24,000 kg of food aid is also on its way to Santiago de Cuba. Continuing into June, the charity plans to ship additional containers with oil, flour, vegetables, and sugar. It said it expects to send one container to Havana and a second one to Santiago.

 

However, there is no additional word on a second Russian oil shipment that was believed to have left Europe in April. The product tanker Universal’s last reported position was in the middle of the Atlantic, displaying “waiting for orders.” After making its first oil delivery earlier in the month, Russia had said it was preparing a second delivery.

 

Despite these efforts, there continue to be reports of widespread outages on the island. The country has used the first Russian oil shipment and can only produce about 40 percent of its oil needs. Blackouts have become common across the island.

12th District Democrats trade barbs over candidate’s ties to the ‘blind sheikh’

A Democrat running in a crowded House primaryis defending his past connection to the late Omar Abdel Rahman, the blind cleric who was convicted in 1995 of planning a bombing campaign intended to destroy the United Nations and other New York City landmarks.

Physician Adam Hamawy, one of 12 Democratsvying for their party’s nod in the 12th Congressional District on June 2,testified for the defense at Abdel Rahman’s trial, leading one of Hamawy’s rivals, Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp, to call Hamawy a “radical extremist.”

Mapp said voters need a fuller accounting of that relationship,and suggested Hamawy’s connection to the man known as the blind sheikh could jeopardize national security.

“The blind sheikh was not a marginal or misunderstood figure,” Mapp said in an interview. “He was a convicted terrorist, convicted of seditious conspiracy. He was connected to one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history.”

Hamawy, a former U.S. Army combat surgeon,dismissed Mapp’s attacks as desperate and Islamophobic in an interview.

“My patriotism and my record is clear,” he said. “I think he’s desperate, and desperate people say desperate things.”

The two men are vying to succeed a retiring Rep. Bonnie Watson-Coleman in the 12th District, a district widely regarded as a safe one for Democrats in November.

Hamawy brushed off his connection to Abdel Rahman as minimal and decades-old news.He said he was young when he first encountered the blind cleric in 1991, and remembers carpooling with him and others on one occasion. Hamawy said he testified at the man’s trial out of a sense of “a civic duty.”

“I was called as a witness, and I gave my testimony under oath, and then I walked out,” he said. “It was never an issue back then, and they’re trying to make it an issue now.”

Abdel Rahman, who died in a North Carolina federal prison in 2017, was the spiritual leader of radical group al-Jama’a al-Islamiyaa.Before coming to the United States, he was tried in Egypt for instigating the 1981 assassination of President Anwar el-Sadat(Abdel Rahman was acquitted).

Abdel Rahman built a following with anti-American sermons in Brooklyn and Jersey City. He was not convicted on charges stemming directly from the World Trade Center bombing,but prosecutors said he and his codefendants were coconspiratorsof the men convicted in that attack.

Hamawy, who was born in Egypt and moved here as a child,maintains he had no relationship with Abdel Rahman. He noted he was in the military during the trial, and afterward was trusted to treat troops in combat in Iraq, including now-Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-Illinois), and victims of the 9/11 attacks.

“Any Muslim is going to be called a terrorist at some point, and these tropes are outdated and worn. Unfortunately, they continue to be used right now,” he said. “These are not serious arguments, and they’re getting old.”

Mapp, who said his criticism is not aimed at Hamawy’s Muslim faith and said religion should “never be used as a political weapon,” said Hamawy’s military service and his treatment of 9/11 victims do not discount his past associations.

Mapp said the other Democrats in the racelack the political courage to join him in criticizing Hamawy on this issue.

“The other candidates, they want to say things but they are afraid. If you want to be a leader, you can’t lead from behind,” he said.

Micah Rasmussen, the director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, said the attacks against Hamawy have largely failed to gain traction in part because they haven’t made it into paid advertising, but also because much of the district’s electorate is too young to have a visceral memory of Abdel Rahman.

“That’s always something you have to contend with. If you talk about something that happened 30 years ago, you’re missing everybody who’s under 50,” he said.

Rasmussen said a question he finds unresolved is not why Hamawy testified, but why he was drawn to Abdel Rahman in the first place, noting that the Muslim leader often spoke about jihad.

“That’s the question I don’t feel we understand enough about, why somebody who talked about jihad all the time was somebody who he felt compelled to travel with,” Rasmussen said.

“People are worried about affordability. They’re worried about healthcare,” he said. “They want to make sure that we unrig this economy, and that’s what I’m addressing.”

 

The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican Gregg Mele in November. Mele is running unopposed in the GOP primary.

Tech companies could be raking in more than $1 million a pop from every American’s online data over the years — with AI firms specifically reaping potentially millions more, according to a shocking new study.

 

Businesses that track individuals’ data stand to net up to $1.08 million per US resident over the course of around 60 years, or from ages 13 to 73, a typical person’s main Web-using years, according to the free-internet group Web3 Foundation.

 

Worst-case scenario, the tech bigs would garner a still-towering $610,029 from each resident’s online use, the review found.

 

The top number equates to Americans’ personal data being worth nearly $18,000 per person a year to tech companies.

 

But that potential figure jumps to a mind-boggling more than $136,000 yearly per resident for artificial-intelligence companies such as Surge AI, the report claimed.

 

Web3 Foundation studied how 150 leading tech companies — including the likes of tech giants such as Amazon, IBM, Tesla and Oracle Corporation — worked with user data to create engagement and revenue.

 

The data was taken from clicks, searches, shopping-cart contents and advertisement interaction, with personal information such as location and birth dates also added into the mix.

And all of the internet data used to compile those sums is given freely — though often unknowingly — by users as they surf the web or browse applications, with Web3 finding “nine in ten users” ignore website cookie notices and privacy policy consent forms intended to hide data.

 

“The report stresses that the figures are not presented as precise valuations or direct cash entitlements owed to individuals,” Web3 said.

 

“Instead, they are intended as a benchmark for understanding the scale of commercial value associated with personal data and the extent to which that value is captured by companies rather than users,” it said.

 

American internet users were the most valuable in the world for companies, the report found.

 

User data in Europe and the United Kingdom is worth about $189,405 per individual over the course of a lifetime, the report found, while the rest of the world outside of North America it was worth about $47,404 per individual.

In September 2025, then-US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Dr Marty Makary publicly acknowledged that the agency was investigating reports of child deaths following Covid-19 vaccination.

 

"We do know at the FDA…that there had been children who have died from the COVID vaccine," Makary said during a CNN interview.

 

By that stage, however, a fierce internal dispute had already emerged inside the FDA over what investigators believed the evidence showed - and whether the public should ever see the full findings.

 

"It really did feel like there was some sort of cover-up going on about the Covid-19 vaccines," said one individual familiar with the discussions.

 

MD Reports spoke with several current/former agency officials, advisers, and individuals briefed on the discussions, all of whom requested anonymity because they were not authorised to publicly discuss internal FDA deliberations.

 

At the centre of the controversy was an internal FDA review led by Dr Tracy Beth Høeg, a physician-scientist who was working as a senior scientist inside the FDA's vaccine division at the time.

 

FDA officials examined roughly 96 paediatric death reports submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), the government database used to detect potential vaccine-related adverse events.

 

The review included medical records, autopsy reports, pathology findings, and follow-up investigations conducted by agency staff.

 

About 25 deaths following Covid vaccination were ultimately considered serious enough for high-level internal discussion inside the agency.

 

The findings were expected to be presented at a September 2025 meeting of the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunisation Practices (ACIP), the federal panel that shapes US vaccine recommendations.

 

But before that could happen, details of the review leaked to the New York Times and the Washington Post.

 

Høeg quickly became the focus of intense media scrutiny and criticism from vaccine advocates and unnamed FDA officials who argued she was relying too heavily on VAERS reports and overstating preliminary findings.

 

People familiar with the fallout said some FDA staff strongly objected to Høeg's methods and conclusions and allegedly sought to undermine her credibility by leaking details of the review.

 

The leak effectively ended plans for a public ACIP discussion and deepened divisions within the FDA over how the findings should be handled.

 

Some officials believed the findings warranted stronger warnings and greater transparency. Others feared public acknowledgement of vaccine-linked child deaths would damage confidence in the Covid vaccines.

The official, David Rush, is being held in jail while he awaits a detention hearing in the coming days on charges of stealing public money by filling out fraudulent time sheets. The charging documents filed in Alexandria, Va., still leave a lot unanswered about his recent conduct.

The only charge lodged against Mr. Rush is that he inflated his academic credentials and obtained military leave pay worth tens of thousands of dollars. The authorities say he falsely claimed to be a member of the Navy Reserve when he was discharged.

The court papers describe Mr. Rush as a “former senior executive service-level employee at a United States government agency.” People familiar with the investigation say he until very recently held a senior position at the C.I.A.

In a joint statement, the C.I.A. and F.B.I. said the arrest occurred on May 19, after the agency alerted the bureau.

“After a C.I.A. internal investigation identified potential violations of the law, C.I.A. Director John Ratcliffe referred the information to the F.B.I. for a law enforcement investigation,” the statement said.

A lawyer for Mr. Rush declined to comment. A woman answering the phone at Mr. Rush’s house hung up on a reporter.

From last November to March, the court papers say, Mr. Rush asked for, and received, “a significant quantity of foreign currency and tens of millions of dollars in gold bars for work-related expenses.”

When the C.I.A. conducted a review of where the gold and currency were stashed, the agency was “unable to locate the gold bars or significant amounts of the foreign currency,” according to court papers.

On May 18, F.B.I. agents searched Mr. Rush’s home and found “approximately 303 gold bars, each of which weighed approximately one kilogram,” according to an affidavit. Based on the price of gold, the affidavit said, the estimated value of the gold exceeded $40 million. Investigators also seized nearly three dozen luxury watches, many of them Rolexes.

The court papers do not indicate why Mr. Rush appears to have kept so much gold, and $2 million in U.S. currency, in his home, or what work project would have required him to amass such wealth.

A London, Ont., doctor who assessed a patient with inflammatory bowel disease and a history of mental health issues for MAID outside a Tim Hortons location and later personally drove the man to the place his life was ended has agreed to a minimum six months’ supervision.

 

In another case, Dr. James MacLean failed to administer one of three drugs used in assisted deaths — one that paralyzes the body’s muscles, including the muscles involved in breathing. The patient resumedspontaneously breathing again after initially being pronounced dead, and after MacLean had already left the home.

 

As first reported Monday by the The Globe and Mail,the doctor’s case is raising new concerns about MAID’s oversight and accountability.

 

“What is striking is not only the seriousness of the concerns identified in these cases,but the limited regulatory response,” said Dr. Ramona Coelho, a family physician and former member of the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario’s MAID death review committee.

 

As part of an investigation by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) into two public complaints made against MacLean, an independent assessor appointed to review a number of MacLean’scharts concluded that he “did not meet the standard of practice of the profession, displayed a lack of judgment and that his conduct exposes or is likely to expose patients to harm or injury in five out of twenty chartsreviewed,” according to a summary decision of the college’s inquiries, complaints and reports committee.

 

MacLean was called before the committee to beverbally “cautioned” with respect to the MAID complaints. (He kills someone and he’s verbally cautioned???)

 

In addition to agreeing to mandatory clinical supervision for at least six monthsas part of an “undertaking” with the college, MacLean will undergo ongoing review of his MAID patient charts and mandatory professional educationrelated to MAID, consent, documentation, professional boundaries and professional behaviour.

 

After six months, he’ll undergo an assessment of his practice, the results of which “may form the basis of further action by the College,” Laura Zilke, a CPSO spokesperson said in an email to National Post.

 

“The undertaking imposes extensive oversight and monitoring requirements on Dr. MacLean’s practice,” Zilke said.

 

“The college takes any complaints brought to our attention extremely seriously as part of our mandate to serve the public interest and ensure safe, ethical and competent medical care for all Ontarians.”(they take complaints seriously but not death by doctor seriously. MacLean declined comment when contacted by National Post.

 

“Due to the rules regarding privacy and my professional responsibilities to the CPSO regarding confidentiality of complaint investigations, I am unable to respond to your questions,” he said in an email.

The anonymized death of the St. Thomas man was also flagged by the Ontario coroner’s MAID death review committee.

 

In a report involving 2024 MAID deaths, the coroner’s panelhighlighted the case of “Mr. A,” a male in his 40s with inflammatory bowel disease who, because of his illness, didn’t have an active social network, had difficulty maintaining a job, found personal relationships difficult and was dependent on family for housing and financial support.(all if those things could be fixed but the doctors prefer to kill them.)

 

He had a history of mental illness, previous bouts of suicidal thinking and on-going alcohol and opioid misuse that cost him his driver’s licence.

 

During a psychiatric assessment, Dillon was asked if he was aware of MAID and given information on the option.

 

There was no documented input from the family who were known to have had concerns about the MAID request.(in other words he didn’t want to die)

 

MacLean and another assessor found Dillon eligible for MAID under Track 2, designed for people whose death is not reasonably foreseeable but who suffer intolerably from a grievous and irremediable medical condition.

 

MacLean conducted his assessment outside the coffee shop. The CPSO panel found it concerning that MacLean discussed “sensitive MAID-related matters in an informal public setting,” according to the summary of the inquiries and complaints committee’s decision.

 

“In the Committee’s view, this reflected a lack of the level of formality and care expected when assessing requests for MAID.”

 

The panel was also troubled by the “quantity and nature” of MacLean’s text exchanges with Dillon, which included comments about the family’s views.

 

MacLean’s decision to drive Dillon to the MAID provision location — which the Globe identified as an industrial-like facility where bodies are prepared for funerals — “raised concerns about professional boundaries.

 

“Taken together, these actions created a risk that (MacLean’s) involvement could be perceived as influencing the patient,” the committee’s summary reads, especially given the patient-doctor power imbalance and Dillon’s history of mental health and substance use issues.

 

According to a more detailed decision from the inquiries and complaints committee provided to the family and obtained by The Globe and Mail, Dillon refused to ride to the MAID procedure site with his sister when she arrived at the Tim Hortons, where he and MacLean had again arranged to meet. MacLean ultimately drove Dillon himself “to ensure that patient’s final moments were dignified.” Dillon didn’t want to die at home, where he lived with his mother, because he knew his family didn’t approve and he agreed to the chosen site after other options were considered, the decision said.

 

“In this case, the assessment occurred during a single encounter at a Tim Hortons coffee shop,” Coelho said in an email.

 

“The family was not engaged in the assessment process, despite being the patient’s primary support and despite the MAID provider being aware they were trying to raise concerns,” she said.

Corridors of Peace: How U.S. Strategy in the South Caucasus Can Rewire Eurasia

 

The peace agreement initialed at the White House between Armenia and Azerbaijan earlier this year represents more than the end of a long war. It opens a window of possibility that can transform decades of hostility into an era of cooperation, where shared infrastructure, trade, and technology can do what diplomacy alone cannot. If there is vision, it can translate peace on paper into peace in practice.

 

As seen in Gaza, turning signatures into stability requires oversight and mentoring. The United States can play a critical, follow-on role to transform political normalization in the South Caucasus into a framework of connectivity, commerce, and confidence. In so doing, Washington can ground this new-found cooperation into the larger trans-Caspian space that links energy- and mineral-rich Central Asia to Europe and global markets.

 

For more than three decades, the frozen conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan largely defined South Caucasus geopolitics as a zone of closed borders and missed opportunities. The protracted and bitter dispute demonstrated that external powers, whether Russian peacekeepers or Western mediators, were limited in what they could accomplish. However, now with the White House agreement, both sides have a chance to break that cycle and the United States has a unique opportunity to shape not only the peace settlement between the two states, but a deeper transformation of the region's geopolitical architecture.

 

To capitalize on this important step forward, Washington can help lock in the dividends of peace by focusing on one unifying theme: confidence-building through connectivity. At its core, this means focusing on connectivity as strategy–a principle that underpins every durable peace process. Infrastructure, when designed for shared benefit, becomes more than a transport system; it becomes a structure of trust. Roads, railways, and pipelines are difficult to weaponize once both sides depend on them. Data cables and trade routes can be conduits for both transparency and common understanding. The United States can help both Yerevan and Baku convert planned regional corridors into pathways for stability.

 

To this end, a first priority should be to ensure that the so-called Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), linking Azerbaijan's mainland with its Nakhchivan exclave through southern Armenia, becomes an engine of shared prosperity rather than renewed rivalry. The new South Caucasus transport corridor is the foundation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement brokered by the White House.

 

Managed well and with transparency, the corridor would connect Armenia to the Caspian basin for the first time in decades and integrate Armenia into east-west trade. The U.S.-backed TRIPP corridor would implement the peace process by creating a viable land bridge from Central Asia to Europe, opening direct access for Armenia to Azerbaijani and Central Asian markets to the east and Türkiye and Europe to the west. …

But MacLean was unable to find the neuromuscular-blocking drug in his kit.

 

Shortly after administering the propofol, and unable to hear a heartbeat,MacLean pronounced the patient dead, according to the college. After he left the house, “the patient resumed spontaneous breathing.”

 

MacLean returned, saw signs of cardiac and respiratory activity, administeredmore medication along with the paralyzing agent, “and again pronounced the patient’s death.”

 

According to the college committee, MacLean “advised that he believes the stress of the situation, including the last-minute and urgent request for his attendance and the substantial number of people present with significant tension amongst them,contributed to initial failed provision of MAID.”

 

The family complained about MacLean’s professionalism and communication.

 

“The level of scrutiny and accountability applied to MAID is inconsistent with how other serious medical procedures are regulated,” Coelho said.

 

The federal government “frequently points to the absence of criminal findings or disciplinary action as evidence that the MAID system is functioning safely,” Coelho added.

 

“Cases such as these, along with those documented (by the coroner’s MAID death review committee) confirm that important gaps in oversight and accountability remain.”

🚨 California just voted to pass AB 2624 aka “The Stop Nick Shirley Act”:

This bill puts journalists at civil risk for investigating fraud and makes it harder to expose fraud in “immigration support services,” including NGOs, nonprofits and health care facilities that receive hundreds of millions from the state of California each year.

 

This bill would have made it criminal to expose fake hospices in LA or the Somali “learing center” in Minnesota if they then claim “reasonable fear” and the business owner gives a written demand not to post the video.

 

Plain and simple, California is trying to make it harder to expose fraud and scare individuals from investigating fraud in their communities, as they could be sued for an injunction to remove the video + forced to pay their attorney fees + minimum $4,000 in damages.

 

The Attorney General's wife, Mia Bonta, created this bill and is now trying to make it law. How is this not a conflict of interest?

Facebook’s second most powerful executive, Sheryl Sandberg, has apologised for the conduct of secret psychological tests on nearly 700,000 users in 2012, which prompted outrage from users and experts alike.

 

The experiment, revealed by a scientific paper published in the March issue of Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, hid "a small percentage" of emotional words from peoples' news feeds, without their knowledge, to test what effect that had on the statuses or "likes" that they then posted or reacted to.

 

“This was part of ongoing research companies do to test different products, and that was what it was; it was poorly communicated,” said Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer while in New Delhi. “And for that communication we apologise. We never meant to upset you.”

Belgian Court Rules ‘Factually Correct’ Remarks Can Be Hate Speech

 

A Belgian court has ruled that even “factually correct” statements can constitute criminal hate speech if used to “incite hatred.”

 

The ruling came as anti-migration activist Dries Van Langenhove was convicted for a second time over remarks linking mass migration to crime.

 

This is Van Langenhove’s second such conviction, following a speech he delivered at a university in Leuven in February 2024, in which he linked mass migration to crime.

 

The activist on Tuesday quoted the judge as writing in his ruling:

 

Even if all of the statements made by Van Langenhove are based on scientific evidence and statistics, it makes no difference to the criminal intent. Van Langenhove is not charged with spreading false information. He is charged with presenting facts in a way that incites hatred against persons on the grounds of one or more of the protected criteria in the Anti-Racism Law.

 

Dutch commentator Eva Vlaardingerbroek described the judge’s comments as proof that the establishment is “criminalising the truth.” She called on European conservatives to “come together” in Van Langenhove’s defence.

 

Former German MP Frauke Petry also criticised the ruling as “completely insane,” asking:

And Rod Dreher said the “staggering” conviction raised the question: “Why do people stand for it?”

 

The news has even gained the attention of U.S. under secretary of state Sarah B. Rogers, who warned: “Policymakers worried about the rise of the so-called ‘far right’ should avoid criminalising accurate, data-driven political speech about mass migration—as this ruling appears to explicitly contemplate.”

 

Doing so means that people willing to be convicted of ‘racism’ get a monopoly on making arguments that strike large segments of the public as important and true.

 

Van Langenhove said he avoided prison only because of what he described as a “technicality” in Belgian law.

UN Secretary-General warns of system collapse

 

António Guterres warned the Security Council today that the international system is facing its deepest crisis since 1945.

 

Deepening mistrust, the proliferation of AI-driven autonomous weapons, and record-high military spending are undermining the UN Charter.

 

The Secretary-General explicitly cited the lack of African representation on the Security Council as a “historic injustice” fueling instability.

Worldwide arms race

At the centre of his remarks was a call to restore confidence in multilateral institutions through diplomacy, accountability and reform.

 

Shun double standards

He urged Member States to invest more heavily in conflict prevention and mediation, uphold international law “without selectivity” or “double standards”, and reform global institutions to reflect modern geopolitical realities.

 

“Global institutions must reflect today’s realities – not those of 1945,” he said, pointing to the absence of permanent African representation on the Security Council as “a historic injustice” that undermined the body’s legitimacy and effectiveness.

 

Mr. Guterres concluded with a direct appeal to Council members to move beyond rhetoric and act collectively to preserve international peace and security.

 

“The world is watching – and demanding action, not just words,” he said.
