Ted Cruz Sounds the Alarm: Deep State Staffers at Treasury and State Working Behind Trump’s Back to Preserve Obama’s Iran Nuke Deal

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) sounded the alarm on Wednesday and said that staffers at the Treasury and State Departments are tirelessly working behind President Trump’s back to preserve Obama’s Iran nuke deal.

Ted Cruz accused many senior Trump administration officials of continuing to give Tehran waivers allowing the terrorist-supporting regime to conduct nuclear tests at a military bunker that holds Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

Cruz said “Deep State” in the Treasury and State who are giving these waivers are undermining President Trump.

“If these reports are indeed accurate, then it is a temporary victory for the deep state staffers at Treasury and State who continue working tirelessly to preserve the Obama Iran deal rather than implementing the president’s directive,” Cruz said. “I will continue to work towards permanently ending the nuclear deal, including by exercising Congress’s important oversight responsibility to ensure the implementation of United States policy.”

“I hope these reports turn out to be wrong,” Cruz said. “The president has correctly ordered his administration to halt implementation of the catastrophic Obama-Iran nuclear deal. These waivers are part of the deal, and allow the Ayatollahs to build up their nuclear program, including at Fordow, a bunker they dug into the side of a mountain so they could build nuclear weapons.”

Ted Cruz and other Iran hawks in Congress have been pressuring the State Department to end the waivers for several months, reported Adam Kredo.

The waivers are allowing Iran to continue business as usual marching forward to develop a fully functioning nuclear weapon.

US Treasury Sanctions Iran Foreign Minister Zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has lambasted the United States for what he claimed was a policy failure in the Middle East and urged its president to engage in diplomacy.

Zarif has also urged US President Donald Trump to reject the "thirst for Forever War" of his national security adviser, John Bolton, and choose the path of diplomacy, which he said equaled prudence and was not a weakness.

The United States imposed sanctions on Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Zarif, the US Department of the Treasury said in a news release on Wednesday.

500 sex buyers arrested in national sting, including 45 in Cook County

HICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - More than 500 people were arrested in a national sex-trafficking sting that used an artificial intelligence chat bot to interact with potential sex buyers.

In Cook County, 45 sex buyers were arrested in the so-called “National Johns Suppression Initiative,” which was conducted in 11 states by 26 law enforcement agencies, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office.

Agencies in six cities used fake internet ads that linked to AI bots that interacted with thousands of “johns” — or sex buyers — the sheriff’s office said. The agencies also used street-level reverse stings and online stings with police-posted decoy ads on multiple trafficking-related websites.

The operation ran from June 23 to July 28, and led to 503 arrests, including eight who were charged with soliciting a minor and 18 charged with trafficking, according to the sheriff’s office. Thirty-four people, including three minors, were recovered and offered services. More than half of the arrests were related to internet ads.

The AI bot, created by childsafe.ai, interacts with potential sex buyers and eventually sends a deterrence message warning of the legal and social effects of buying sex, the sheriff’s office said. The bot contacted over 1,100 people in Cook County alone.

The Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart started the “National John” initiative in 2011 to draw attention to the role sex buyers play in fueling sex trafficking, the sheriff’s office said. Since then, the initiative has involved more than 140 agencies and led to the arrests of 9,500 sex buyers.

Report: Jeffrey Epstein Hoped to Cryogenically Freeze Head and Penis

Wealthy investor Jeffrey Epstein reportedly possesses a “longstanding fascination with “transhumanism” — the concept that technology can help humans transcend the limitations of their mortal bodies — and “hoped to seed the human race with his DNA” by impregnating women at his New Mexico ranch. He also discussed his desire to have his head and penis Cryogenically frozen.

Epstein is accused of sexually abusing dozens of underage girls in the early 2000s. A judge denied him bail earlier this month, ruling that he might flee the country if released. U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman said a trial projected to last four to six weeks could tentatively begin June 8, but he will likely defer to defense lawyers’ needs if they are not ready.

Epstein has remained at the Metropolitan Correction Center, which is adjacent to the downtown Manhattan courthouse.

Trump is “very supportive of law enforcement,” Kerik said. “Nobody has to tell me how supportive [Donald Trump] is of the men and women in law enforcement and the military. I know. I’ve known the guy 25 years.”

Kerik added, “In fact, what the article didn’t tell you is that [Donald Trump] sent a ton of people down there that worked for him to assist in the volunteer efforts.”

“But this is just another way to attack the president, and I think it’s pretty sickening,” concluded Kerik. “It demonstrates how low these people will go to attack him.”

Mansour concurred, “I assumed it was just a New Yorker talking about the significance of what happened there, and that he remembers going down there.”

(WHDH) — The FBI says a woman’s head that was sewn onto a man’s body “like Frankenstein,” a cooler stuffed full of genitals, and buckets upon buckets of various body parts were found at a scientific donation center in 2014, according to a newly filed lawsuit.

Agents investigating the illegal trafficking and sale of human body parts raided the Biological Resource Center in Phoenix and made the horrifying discovery, the Arizona Republic reports.

The grim details from inside the facility were detailed in a lawsuit filed by dozens of people who donated the bodies of deceased family members thinking they were going to be used by for scientific research.

FBI agent Mark Cwynar testified that he saw a number of “unsettling scenes” in the facility, including body parts that were strewn about and piled on top of each other with no way of knowing whom they belonged to.

Cwynar also said he saw a “cooler filled with male genitalia,” “buckets filled with heads, arms, and legs,” “torsos with limbs removed,” and “steel freezers with frozen body parts inside.”

Agents reportedly found a small woman’s head sewn onto a large man’s torso that was pinned to a wall “like Frankenstein.”

The lawsuit alleges Biological Resource Center sold the body parts for profit instead of conducting the research as promised.

A price list included in the lawsuit indicates bodies with no heads were being sold for $2,900, torsos with a head for $2,400, legs for $1,100, a spine for $950, and feet for $450, among an array of other options.

Prosecutors say the families who donated the bodies of loved ones were misled.

More than two years ago, Facebook revealed it was working on a project for typing words onto a computer right from your brain, without requiring invasive surgery to make it work.

The company has been working with several universities on the effort, including the University of California, San Francisco. Facebook helped pay for UCSF researchers to study whether electrodes placed in the brain could help us learn to "decode" speech from brainwaves in real time.

As it turns out, this is possible: A study published Tuesday showed that researchers could instantly see — as text on a computer screen — a word or phrase that a participant was saying by looking at brain activity, as long as it was among a limited set of answers in response to predetermined questions. The study includes three epilepsy patients voluntarily implanted with electrodes.

Facebook is also footing the bill for a new, year-long study that UCSF is currently conducting where it will try to use brain activity to help a person who can't speak communicate. The social network hopes the efforts could help reveal which brain signals are key for that non-invasive wearable that it's planning for in the years ahead.

"We expect that to take upwards of 10 years," Mark Chevillet, a research director at Facebook Reality Labs who runs its brain-computer interface group, told CNN Business of the overall project. "This is a long-term research program."

Ernest Wood, an adjutant of Leadbeater's at the time, who helped Krishnamurti with his homework, considered him to be "particularly dim-witted". Leadbeater was convinced that the boy would become a spiritual teacher and a great orator; the likely "vehicle for the Lord Maitreya" in Theosophical doctrine, an advanced spiritual entity periodically appearing on Earth as a World Teacher to guide the evolution of humankind.

In her biography of Krishnamurti, Pupul Jayakar quotes him speaking of that period in his life some 75 years later: "The boy had always said "I will do whatever you want". There was an element of subservience, obedience. The boy was vague, uncertain, woolly; he didn't seem to care what was happening. He was like a vessel with a large hole in it, whatever was put in, went through, nothing remained."

Following his discovery by Leadbeater, Krishnamurti was nurtured by the Theosophical Society in Adyar. Leadbeater and a small number of trusted associates undertook the task of educating, protecting, and generally preparing Krishnamurti as the "vehicle" of the expected World Teacher . Krishnamurti (often later called Krishnaji) and his younger brother Nityananda (Nitya) were privately tutored at the Theosophical compound in Madras, and later exposed to a comparatively opulent life among a segment of European high society as they continued their education abroad. Despite his history of problems with schoolwork and concerns about his capacities and physical condition, the 14-year-old Krishnamurti was able to speak and write competently in English within six months. Lutyens says that later in life Krishnamurti came to view his "discovery" as a life-saving event. When he was asked in later life what he thought would have happened to him if he had not been 'discovered' by Leadbeater he would unhesitatingly reply "I would have died".

During this time Krishnamurti had developed a strong bond with Annie Besant and came to view her as a surrogate mother. His father, who had initially assented to Besant's legal guardianship of Krishnamurti, was pushed into the background by the swirl of attention around his son. In 1912 he sued Besant to annul the guardianship agreement. After a protracted legal battle Besant took custody of Krishnamurti and Nitya. As a result of this separation from family and home Krishnamurti and his brother (whose relationship had always been very close) became more dependent on each other, and in the following years often travelled together.

In 1911 the Theosophical Society established the Order of the Star in the East (OSE) to prepare the world for the expected appearance of the World Teacher . Krishnamurti was named as its head, with senior Theosophists assigned various other positions. Membership was open to anybody who accepted the doctrine of the Coming of the World Teacher. Controversy soon erupted, both within the Theosophical Society and outside it, in Hindu circles and the Indian press.

DOJ and FBI Show No Signs of Correcting Past Untruths in Their New Attacks on Encryption

Last week, Attorney General William Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray chose to spend some of their time giving speeches demonizing encryption and calling for the creation of backdoors to allow the government access to encrypted data. You should not spend any of your time listening to them.

Don’t be mistaken; the threat to encryption remains high. Australia and the United Kingdom already have laws in place that can enable those governments to undermine encryption, while other countries may follow. And it’s definitely dangerous when senior U.S. law enforcement officials talk about encryption the way Barr and Wray did.

The reason to ignore these speeches is that DOJ and FBI have not proven themselves credible on this issue. Instead, they have a long track record of exaggeration and even false statements in support of their position. That should be a bar to convincing anyone—especially Congress—that government backdoors are a good idea.

Barr expressed confidence in the tech sector’s “ingenuity” to design a backdoor for law enforcement that will stand up to any unauthorized access, paying no mind to the broad technical and academic consensus in the field that this risk is unavoidable. As the prominent cryptographer and Johns Hopkins University computer science professor Matt Green pointed out on Twitter, the Attorney General made sweeping, impossible-to-support claims that digital security would be largely unaffected by introducing new backdoors. Although Barr paid the barest lip service to the benefits of encryption—two sentences in a 4,000 word speech—he ignored numerous ways encryption protects us all, including preserving not just digital but physical security for the most vulnerable users.

For all of Barr and Wray’s insistence that encryption poses a challenge to law enforcement, you might expect that that would be the one area where they’d have hard facts and statistics to back up their claims, but you’d be wrong. Both officials asserted it’s a massive problem, but they largely relied on impossible-to-fact-check stories and counterfactuals. If the problem is truly as big as they say, why can’t they provide more evidence? One answer is that prior attempts at proof just haven’t held up.

Some prime examples of the government’s false claims about encryption arose out of the 2016 legal confrontation between Apple and the FBI following the San Bernardino attack. Then-FBI Director James Comey and others portrayed the encryption on Apple devices as an unbreakable lock that stood in the way of public safety and national security. In court and in Congress, these officials said they had no means of accessing an encrypted iPhone short of compelling Apple to reengineer its operating system to bypass key security features. But a later special inquiry by the DOJ Office of the Inspector General revealed that technical divisions within the FBI were already working with an outside vendor to unlock the phone even as the government pursued its legal battle with Apple. In other words, Comey’s statements to Congress and the press about the case—as well as sworn court declarations by other FBI officials—were untrue at the time they were made.

Wray, Comey’s successor as FBI Director, has also engaged in considerable overstatement about law enforcement’s troubles with encryption. In congressional testimony and public speeches, Wray repeatedly pointed to almost 8,000 encrypted phones that he said were inaccessible to the FBI in 2017 alone. Last year, the Washington Post reported that this number was inflated due to a “programming error.” EFF filed a Freedom of Information Act request, seeking to understand the true nature of the hindrance encryption posed in these cases, but the government refused to produce any records.

But in their speeches last week, neither Barr nor Wray acknowledged the government’s failure of candor during the Apple case or its aftermath. They didn’t mention the case at all. Instead, they ask us to turn the page and trust anew. You should refuse. Let’s hope Congress does too.

World famous actors, leaders, and business titans have flocked to a luxurious Sicilian resort this week to discuss climate change at a Google-hosted summit — but will undoubtedly leave their mark on the climate in the process.

Former President Barack Obama, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and even Prince Harry are expected to attend the summit, which has been dubbed "Google Camp."

"Everything is about global warming, that is the major topic this year," a source told the New York Post of the summit's agenda.

In a palpable turn of irony, Italian media reported officials expect attendees to bring 114 private jets to the summit; 40 had already arrived by the weekend. Climate change advocates claim jet airplanes expel tons of ozone-eroding greenhouse gases, which they say contributes to global warming.

According to calculations by the Post, 114 jet flights from Los Angeles to Palermo, Italy — where the Falcone Borsellino Airport is located — would expel an estimated 100,000 kilograms of CO2, a known greenhouse gas, into the atmosphere.

Many of the attendees are even expected to stay on mega-yachts.

"Google Camp is meant to be a place where influential people get together to discuss how to make the world better," an attendee told the Post. Trump joined “hundreds” of other famous persons in “wanting to motivate and inspire the people that were down there [and] wanting to thank them,” Kerik remarked. “He went down there to thank them. Every time he went down there, he thanked them.”

Trump is “very supportive of law enforcement,” Kerik said. “Nobody has to tell me how supportive [Donald Trump] is of the men and women in law enforcement and the military. I know. I’ve known the guy 25 years.”

Kerik added, “In fact, what the article didn’t tell you is that [Donald Trump] sent a ton of people down there that worked for him to assist in the volunteer efforts.”

Gandhi nicknamed himself "Upper House" and Kallenbach "Lower House," and he made Lower House promise not to "look lustfully upon any woman." The two then pledged "more love, and yet more love . . . such love as they hope the world has not yet seen."

Gandhi claimed that there was "an exact parallel" between the British Empire and the Third Reich, yet while the British imprisoned him in luxury in the Aga Khan's palace for 21 months until the Japanese tide had receded in 1944, Hitler stated that he would simply have had Gandhi and his supporters shot. (Gandhi and Mussolini got on well when they met in December 1931, with the Great Soul praising the Duce's "service to the poor, his opposition to super-urbanization, his efforts to bring about a coordination between Capital and Labour, his passionate love for his people.") During his 21 years in South Africa (1893-1914), Gandhi had not opposed the Boer War or the Zulu War of 1906—he raised a battalion of stretcher-bearers in both cases—and after his return to India during World War I he offered to be Britain's "recruiting agent-in-chief." Although Gandhi's nonviolence made him an icon to the American civil-rights movement, Mr. Lelyveld shows how implacably racist he was toward the blacks of South Africa. "We were then marched off to a prison intended for Kaffirs," Gandhi complained during one of his campaigns for the rights of Indians settled there. BOA VISTA, Brazil – This Tuesday, when the World Day to Combat Trafficking in Persons is celebrated, Brazil does not have much to celebrate, being the destination of a growing flow of Venezuelan women brought here for the purpose of sexual exploitation. After all, what does the country need to do to combat this problem more effectively?

With a deep economic crisis that has been affecting the country for years, Venezuela has seen a sharp migratory flow of its citizens to several neighboring countries. In situations of misery and despair, many of these migrants end up in a series of difficulties of different kinds throughout this endeavor, and sometimes the dream of a better life elsewhere turns out to be the worst of nightmares.

Among Venezuelan women trying to escape problems in their homeland, a significant portion of them are often enticed by criminal networks that, taking advantage of their fragile situation, recruit them for sexual exploitation in countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia. and Brazil. Deluded by promises of work or food security, they become easy targets for these opportunistic outlaws. Only in Roraima, the Brazilian state that serves as the main gateway for Venezuelan immigrants, cases like these have increased 30% since the beginning of this year, according to the Civil Police.

Érica Kaefer, project coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) representation for Brazil, explains that both international instruments and Brazilian law provide for different types of activities related to human trafficking.that can be classified as a crime, from forced labor to organ removal. In common, they all go through the recruitment, transport, transfer, shelter or receipt of persons by various means – such as threat or fraud – for exploitation purposes. According to the expert, it is quite common, when thinking about this type of violation, to imagine recruiters as individuals belonging to a large mafia or international organization. But the truth is that in most instances there are people very close to the victims involved, including family members.

In the case of Brazil, Kaefer points out that this issue of trafficking in persons is a serious problem with regard to transnational crimes as well as internal crimes.

“When you think of trafficking, you always think of international trafficking in persons, but trafficking can also be within the same country. It is even a reality in the context of Brazil,” she said.

According to the IOM representative, the prevalence of international trafficking in persons is very difficult to measure due to underreporting and insufficient data, but it can be said to occur in all regions and all countries of the world. However, certain associated factors can contribute significantly to a higher or lower intensity of this type of practice.

Being in a mindful state – in which the brain is relaxed but focused – benefits the mind and body on a number of different levels. While in the restful, contemplative state associated with observing or interacting with water, it's also common to experience feelings of awe, Nichols' research has found. The emotion of awe invokes feelings of a connection to something beyond oneself, a sense of the vastness of nature and an attempt to make sense of the experience.

"That switches you from a 'me' orientation to a 'we' orientation," says Nichols, citing research findings that feelings of awe can increase our capacity for connection and empathy.

"When you experience that feeling of awe, you get that 'one with the universe' feeling," says Nichols. "You feel connected to yourself, the world around you, and whoever you happen to be with. That puts you in a 'we' state of mind."

It's no coincidence, then, that many of life's most romantic moments take place by the water – engagements, weddings and honeymoons overwhelmingly occur in waterside locations.

"We hold important ceremonies by water. Both in life and in death, we gather by water when we can," says Nichols. "If we can't gather outside by water, there's often a water component indoors."

A blue mind is a creative mind.

Hopping in the shower, as many people know, can be a great way to trigger ideas when our brains are in a creative rut.

In our always-busy, screen-saturated lives, we don't give our minds much of a chance to rest and wander freely. But when we do, the mind switches into a different mode of engagement, known as the default mode network – the brain network associated with daydreaming, imagination, consolidation of memories, self-referential thought, insight and introspection. The default mode network is extremely important for creativity – which is often why we find that when we turn off our brains for a moment and get in the shower, activating that default network, that we suddenly come up with the insights and ideas that eluded us while we were sitting at our computers desperately searching for the solution.

"The shower is a proxy for the Pacific Ocean or the Atlantic Ocean," says Nichols. "You step in the shower, and you remove a lot of the visual stimulation of your day. Auditorially, it's the same thing – it's a steady stream of 'blue noise.' You're not hearing voices or processing ideas. You step into the shower and it's like a mini-vacation."

Rather than switching off, when you're showering, your brain switches into a different mode – and while the brain is in a more restful state, suddenly you're able to make those new or unusual connections. The "Eureka" moment comes at last – the insight or solution "feels like it drops out of the sky and into your head," says Nichols.

Exercise by or in water is good for our bodies and brains.

Exercise in any setting can improve our physical and mental health on a number of different levels, and can be an excellent way of reducing stress. But you may get even more benefit from your exercise by ditching the gym and taking a jog by the ocean or a swim in the lake instead.

"We know that water – being surrounded by blue space – helps us relax, and we know that exercise is good for our bodies and our brains," says Nichols. "If somebody is experiencing a number of problems that exercise and stress reduction may help with, [water] is a good add-on. Find a river trail and run there, or get on a bike, or row or swim."

Being outside near water while you're exercising will potentially give you more of a mental boost than exercising in a crowded, hectic gym environment with TVs in front of you and people all around. Many people feel intuitively that being in the presence water provides tangible benefits for their well-being, and as Nichols explains, their instincts are right.

"It's almost too obvious, and it gets overlooked," says Nichols. "But the health and neurological benefits of exercise by water are very real."
