Mohamed Hadid

 

Mohamed Anwar Hadid is a Palestinian[7][8][9][10][11] born in Nazareth[1] in November 1948 to a Muslim family. He is the son of Anwar Hadid (c. 1908 – 1979) and his wife Khairiah.[12] Through his mother he claims descent from Daher Al Omer, Prince of Nazareth and the Sheik of Galilee.[13][14] Hadid has two brothers and five sisters.[12]

 

His father, Anwar Hadid, studied at a Jerusalem teachers' college and attended a university[which?] in Syria to study law, before working in land settlement for the British authorities and teaching English at a teachers' college in Mandatory Palestine. In 1948, he moved to Syria and joined the United States Information Agency and the Voice of America. He and his family lived in Damascus, Tunisia, and Greece before moving to Washington, D.C., as Anwar had a job at the VOA headquarters there, when Mohamed was 14, and spent the rest of his career there with VOA and USIA as a writer, editor and translator.[12][13][15]

 

Hadid attended North Carolina State University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[1]

In 1992, a settlement was reached in a lawsuit by Riggs Bank against Columbia First Bank Chairman Melvin Lenkin, a Hadid partner in a Washington, D.C., construction project that involved a loan on which Hadid defaulted. Following the settlement Hadid closed his local office, lost his McLean home to foreclosure, and left the Washington area.[19]

The SAAR Foundation was a flagship corporation representing charities, think tanks, and business entities. SAAR was named after its founder, Saudi patriarch Sulaiman Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi, a man close to the Saudi ruling family and on the Golden Chain, a list of early al-Qaeda supporters.[1] SAAR is alternatively referred to as the Safa Group.[2] The SAAR Foundation, which was dissolved in December 2000,[3][4] achieved prominence as the key subject of a March 20, 2002 raid by federal agents, as a part of Operation Green Quest. The raid was carried out over suspicions by the U.S. Treasury Department that the group was laundering money for Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups.[5] In 2003, they were accused of large scale money laundering for terrorist entities.[2]

 

The Foundation's overseas origins date to the 1970s. The origins began with a group of Muslim scholars, businessmen, and scientists from the Middle East and Asia who moved to the U.S. in the 1980s. The network began with the incorporation of the SAAR Foundation, Inc., in Herndon, Virginia, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in July 1983. The parent corporation dissolved in 2000 and was replaced by the Safa Trust, which was run by many of the same group of individuals. SAAR was named after the patriarch of the wealthy Saudi Arabian al-Rajhi family, who are also the foundation's largest donors.[2]

 

Federal investigations allege that SAAR makes up a network of up to one hundred non-profit and for-profit organizations with known ties to radical Islamist groups. Many of these organizations shared the same address in Virginia, which led investigators to claim that many of the organizations were "phantom" entities engaged in reverse money-laundering.[2] Special Agent David Kane of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement testified in a 2003 affidavit that the most likely cause for the group's presence was "to conceal support for terrorism."[2] Seventy percent of the contributions to SAAR charities came from within the SAAR network. Millions of dollars ended up in an offshore bank account in the Bahamas and the Isle of Man making them difficult to trace. Traced funds arrived at financial institutions designated by the U.S. Treasury as financial conduits for terrorist groups like Al Taqwa Bank and Akida Bank Private, LTD. Other funds were traced to a group, WISE, linked to the organization Palestinian Islamic Jihad.[2]

 

In the years that followed the investigation, SAAR was fined "more than $500,000" for contempt of court for failing to turn over documents subpoenaed by the grand jury investigation.[6] The fines have not been paid, however, because the SAAR Foundation no longer has assets in its name in the U.S.[6]

 

As part of Operation Green Quest, a multiagency task force led by the U.S. Customs and U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement, SAAR was investigated in an investigation into suspected terror financing entities. Their mission was focused on closing down illicit financial systems and repairing vulnerable and legitimate systems that could be used to raise funds for terrorists. On March 20, 2002 federal agents raided 14 interlocking business entities in Herndon, VA associated with the SAAR Foundation looking for ties to the Al Taqwa Bank and the Muslim Brotherhood. Over 500 boxes of files and computer files were confiscated, filling seven trucks. Investigations from Operation Green Quest led to seventy indictments and $33 Million in seized funds by 2003.[2]

Operation Green Quest

Operation Green Quest was a U.S. interagency investigative unit formed in October 2001 after the September 11 attacks. Sponsored by the United States Customs Service, it was concerned with the surveillance and interdiction of terrorist financing sources. It was disbanded in June 2003 pursuant to an agreement between the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice.

According to Customs, by its fourth month of Operation Green Quest had initiated more than 300 probes into terrorist finances, seizing about $10.3m in smuggled US currency and $4.3m in other assets. Its work resulted in 21 searches, 12 arrests and four indictments.[1]

 

Its most spectacular operation of was March 20, 2002 raid 19 interrelated business and non-profit entities in Herndon, VA associated with an umbrella corporation known as the SAAR Foundation. No arrests were made and no organizations were shut down, but over 500 boxes of files and computer files were confiscated, filling seven trucks. Finding no incriminating evidence, much of the confiscated material has been returned.

 

The raid raised concerns of unfair persecution within the American Muslim community,[2] leading to an April 4, 2002 meeting in which several notable Muslim figures, including Palestinian-American financier and Republican organizer Talat M. Othman and Islamic Institute head Khaled Saffuri were received by Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill as representatives of the Muslim-American community to voice complaints about the raid.

 

As a result of conflicts between the FBI and the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (the successor agency to Customs),[3] in May 2003 the Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security signed an agreement concerning terrorist financing investigations. In it, DHS acknowledged that the Department of Justice, through the FBI, was the lead agency in the fight against terrorist financing, and that any terrorist financing investigations would have to be conducted under the auspices of the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force. DHS also agreed to disband Operation Green Quest by June of that year, and not to start any investigations into terrorism or terrorist financing without the permission of the FBI.[4]

UAW regional director charged in corruption probe steps down

 

DETROIT (AP) β€” A United Auto Workers union official charged in a widening federal bribery and embezzlement scandal has resigned.

 

The union said Sunday that Vance Pearson also will retire and resign from his membership in the union. He had been on paid administrative leave.

 

Pearson was the director of a region in Missouri. He was charged by federal prosecutors in September in connection with a scheme to embezzle union money and spend thousands on premium booze, golf clubs, cigars and swanky stays in California.

 

Former UAW President Gary Jones has been implicated in the scheme but has not been charged. Jones resigned last week.

The UAW had moved to expel both men from the union.

State Department Releases Detailed Accounts Of Biden-Ukraine Corruption

 

A liberal watchdog group's attempt to nail Rudy Giuliani has backfired in spectacular fashion after their FOIA request resulted in the US State Department releasing detailed accusations of corruption against the Bidens - based on interviews with former Ukrainian officials who were in charge of the investigations.

 

Responding to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit from the group American Oversight, the State Department on Friday night released almost 100 pages of records detailing efforts by Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani to investigate corruption, which include contacts with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) earlier this year.

 

While American Oversight's 'gotcha' is that Giuliani had "multiple contacts" with Mike Pompeo and others while investigating Ukraine corruption, they completely ignore interview notes containing detailed allegations by former Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin - who Joe Biden had fired, as well as his successor, prosecutor general Yuriy Lutsenko - who "believes Mr. Viktor Shokin the former Prosecutor General is honest."

On a January 23, 2019 phone call between Shokin and Giuliani, Igor Fruman, Lev Parnas and George Boyle, Shokin said:

 

"He was appointed to the position of General Prosecutor of Ukraine from 2015 until April of 2016, when he was removed at the request of Mr. Joseph Biden the Vice President of the United States."

 

"He [Shokin] became involved in a case against Mr. Mykola Zlochevsky the former Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine. OPCW report on Douma chemical incident omitted & misrepresented key facts, leaked email by dissenting inspector shows

 

An internal OPCW email indicates that the chemical weapons watchdog’s leadership doctored a report on the 2018 Douma incident to bring it in line with West-favored claim that it was an attack by the Syrian government.

 

A newly published internal email seriously undermines the justification for the show of force conducted by the US, Britain and France in response to the alleged attack. The three NATO allies unleashed barrages of cruise missiles at targets in Syria, which they claimed to be involved in producing chemical weapons.

 

In April 2018, a chemical weapons attack was reported in Douma, Syria, with dozens of civilians allegedly killed. The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) sent a fact-finding mission to the site, although the inspection was stalled by fighting between radical jihadists, who controlled Douma at the time of the incident, and the Syrian government forces. Nevertheless, evidence was eventually collected and the OPCW produced a report that all but pinned the blame for the attack on Damascus.

 

An internal email sent by one of the inspectors in that team indicates that the management of the organization seriously modified the document, totally omitting facts that didn’t fit the anti-Damascus narrative and misreporting others to fit it. The email was released by whistleblower site WikiLeaks and covered by several leading European publications, including La Repubblica in Italy, Stundin in Iceland, Der Spiegel in Germany, and the Mail on Sunday in the UK.

 

The email sent by the inspector, whose name was redacted, outlines several instances, in which facts discovered by the team had been distorted or suppressed in a draft OPCW report, resulting in β€œan unintended bias” of the resulting text.

 

One objection related to saying that the team discovered sufficient evidence that chlorine gas was likely released from two cylinders found at two locations in Douma. The actual evidence pointed to the presence of one or several chlorine-containing chemicals. It might have been the gas, but it could as well be something other like chlorine-based bleach.

 

Another complaint was about overstating the levels of chlorinated organic derivatives found in the environment. β€œThey were, in most cases, present only in parts per billion range, as low as 1-2 ppb, which is essentially trace quantities,” the email states.

 

The compounds in question are a tell-tale sign of reactive chlorine that can be found long after the toxic chemical itself has dissipated, which was relevant in this case because the fact-finding mission reached Douma weeks after the incident.

Trump Officials Meet With 'Strongman' Haftar's Political Team In Major Libya Shift

 

Starting last April President Trump caught many in his own administration off guard when he unexpectedly thanked renegade General Khalifa Haftar for "securing Libya's oil resources" at a moment the rebel leader assaulted the UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) in Tripoli.

 

The public praise and phone call between Trump and the former CIA-backed warlord was a shock at the time given the US has maintained a policy of only recognizing the GNA in line with UN allies.

 

But now that continued recognition appears to be shifting fast after this week Trump admin officials held multiple meetings with an official representing Haftar's political team named Aref al-Nayed, expected to hold a top leadership position once Tripoli is 'liberated' by Haftar's Libyan National Army (LNA).

 

Revelation of the high level meetings has renewed speculation and confusion over the future of Washington policy in Libya, and if its priorities will shift to more open support of Haftar's LNA, responsible for a renewed grinding civil war of the past two years which by this past summer had killed at least 1,000.

 

Details of the meetings were first revealed by Defense One as follows:

 

In two meetings with National Security Council officials in Washington this fall, Aref al Nayed, an Islamic scholar and former ambassador to the UAE, has pitched himself as a transitional political leader for Libya after Hifter, the military commander, β€œliberates” Tripoli, according to documents provided by Nayed and multiple sources with knowledge of the meetings.

Nayed, who has previously announced that he is running for president of Libya, fiercely condemns the UN-backed GNA and portrays himself as a consensus choice who will be able to bring together Libya’s tribal factions under a so-called β€œNational Unity Government.” NSC officials were β€œnoncommittal” to Nayed’s proposal, according to a former senior U.S. official familiar with the meetings.

 

Despite the NSC saying's it remains "noncommittal" it's highly unusual for such a meeting to take place, tantamount to meeting with a rebel "opposition" group at a moment it's trying to topple a US-recognized government.

Goo Hara, an ex-member of girl group Kara, was found dead in her home in Seoul around 6pm local time on Sunday, police said. They did not reveal any more details, saying that an investigation into the cause of the 28-year-old’s death is underway.

 

The singer had been hospitalized in May following an apparent suicide attempt, when she was discovered unconscious in her home by her manager. Before that she posted a cryptic message on her Instagram, containing only the word β€œGoodbye.” She later recovered, released a new single and did a short tour earlier this month.

 

Sundays’ news comes after another K-pop star, Sulli, 25, committed suicide in her Seoul apartment on October 14. Her death was linked to depression and to harassment she had received online.

Farage Says UK Needs β€˜Political Reform’ to Drain the Westminster β€˜Swamp’

 

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has suggested that his party may be one day be rebranded the β€œReform Party”, saying his colleagues and the British people want an overhaul of the British political system.

Over 800 Migrants Set Sail for Italy in One Week as Numbers Rise

 

In the past week, around 800 migrants have attempted to reach Italy from North Africa as migrant transport NGO activity has resumed the flow of migrants in the Mediterranean.

 

The NGO ships account for facilitating 367 of the 800, many of whom were intercepted by coastguards. The France-based NGO Sos MediterranΓ©e and its ship the Ocean Viking currently has 215 migrants aboard her, Il Giornale reports.

 

Another NGO, the Spanish-based Open Arms, also picked up 73 migrants from the Libyan coast this week, along with the Aita Mari which retrieved 79 migrants.

 

Tunisia has also become a hotspot for migrants to head for Europe. The coastguard on the island of Djerba collected 43 migrants who were on board a boat around 10 miles from the island. The vessel began its voyage from the commune of Houmet Essouk, but authorities quickly identified and intercepted it.

 

The Tunisian authorities noted that none of the migrants on the boat were actually from Tunisia. Over half of the migrants came from Ethiopia, and the rest originated from Eritrea and Somalia.

 

Following the exit of anti-mass migration former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and the League from the government in Italy, activity in the Mediterranean has dramatically increased.

 

No more than a month after the departure of Salvini, whose closed port policy drastically reduced the number of new arrivals and the number of drownings, ten NGO vessels are now operating in the Mediterranean Sea in the Search and Rescue (SAR) zone off the Libyan coast.

 

The main driver of the change in policy has been the leftist Democratic Party (PD) led by Nicola Zingaretti who made it clear he would reverse the anti-mass migration policies of Salvini.

 

Italy is not the only country to see a renewal of migrant numbers. Greece is also facing a new wave of migrants as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has repeatedly threatened to allow millions of migrants into Europe.

Chinese spy Wang Liqiang alleges Beijing ordered overseas murders, including in Australia

 

A man claiming to have worked as a secret Chinese operative for five years says Beijing has directed overseas assassinations, including on Australian soil.

 

Government sources have confirmed to the ABC Wang "William" Liqiang has detailed the sensational allegations as he seeks political asylum.

 

Nine Newspapers have reported Mr Wang is in hiding in Sydney after recently providing a sworn statement to Australia's domestic spy agency ASIO outlining Beijing's covert operations.

 

One senior official, speaking to the ABC on the condition of anonymity, said the challenge for security agencies was to now "separate fact from fiction" while assessing Mr Wang's disclosures.

 

In the statement Mr Wang provided ASIO last month, he reportedly states: "I have been personally involved and participated in a series of espionage activities".

 

According to Nine Newspapers, Mr Wang has provided new details about the kidnapping of five booksellers who specialised in works critical of Chinese leaders based in Hong Kong, starting in 2015, and their rendition to mainland China.

 

He is also reported to have said spies from Beijing were infiltrating Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement, influencing Taiwan's elections and "operating with impunity in Australia", according to The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

 

Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said it was a "sensitive matter" being followed up by the relevant authorities.

 

"These are very disturbing reports and the matter is now in the hands of the appropriate law enforcement agencies so I wouldn't comment on the particulars of individual cases," he said.

 

"The Government makes no apologies for the measures we have taken to ensure that we have foreign interference laws in place."

 

According to the reports, Mr Wang is seeking political asylum and remains in an undisclosed location in Sydney on a tourist visa.

 

Mr Wang told Nine Newspapers the Chinese Communist Party "infiltrates all countries in areas such as military, business and culture, in order to achieve its goal".

 

He continued: "You shouldn't underestimate our organisation … we were cultivated and trained by the organisation for many years before taking up important positions.

 

"[The Chinese Communist Party] wants to ensure no-one threatens its authority."

 

In a clip from 60 Minutes posted to social media on Saturday, Mr Wang said, through a translator, that he was "responsible for organising the cyber army to attack people online".

 

"Imagine the consequence of betraying the organisation."

 

When asked why he had decided to seek political asylum in Australia and detail his involvement in such covert operations, he said: "I know very well that the Chinese Communist Party can never be trusted. Once I go back, I will be dead."

The sheer awfulness of the revelation Westpac appears to have facilitated the Filipino child-sex industry certainly grabbed the headlines in the coverage of AUSTRAC's extraordinarily damaging statement of claim dropped in the Federal Court.

 

And rightly so.

 

Westpac had been warned years before and did nothing. Its social licence to operate as Australia's second-biggest bank seemingly treated a bit like an unwanted ATM receipt β€” screwed up, tossed away and forgotten.

 

The Prime Minister and Attorney-General were aghast. So were 25 million Australians.

 

While horrifying in its own right, it masks the bottom line that Westpac remains utterly clueless about the suspect $11 billion of largely cross-border funds transfers the financial intelligence agency has tallied up.

 

The details of the suspected paedophile payments are found towards the back of AUSTRAC's 48-page statement of claim.

 

There are several instances cited, generally in the order of tens of thousands of dollars, not millions, or even hundreds of millions for that matter.

 

In another context, and putting aside the incalculable human toll of the activity, the focus seemed to be on speedboats carrying out small wads of dirty money, ignoring the massive vessels, loaded with containers of concealed loot, steaming out of Australia's tax jurisdiction.

 

"That's what this case is all about β€” it's the facilitation of massive, high-level, cross-border tax evasion," says Nathan Lynch, Thomson Reuters' Asia-Pacific bureau chief, financial crime and risk.

 

"Westpac established a cloak of invisibility for cross-border payments β€” tax authorities, financial regulators and agencies couldn't see anything.

 

"It's this aspect of the case that makes it such a landmark case for AUSTRAC to take on β€” and a case that will send shockwaves around the globe," Mr Lynch said.

Did Westpac pull a SWIFTy?

 

To understand why this was unlikely to be just sloppiness on an industrial scale you have to dig into the arcane world of data reporting of fund transfers between financial institutions.

 

The global standard is the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) messaging standard for so-called cover payments: the MT202 COV.

 

The SWIFT platform was established in 2009 as part of a global crackdown on money laundering, and is used in most of the world's high-value cross border payments.

Report: Navy Secretary Sides with Admiral, Despite Trump Tweet, on Gallagher Review

 

U.S. Navy Secretary Richard Spencer said on Friday that SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher should face a planned "trident review board," despite President Donald Trump's tweet Thursday that Gallagher should remain a SEAL.

 

Spencer told Reuters at the Halifax International Security Forum in Nova Scotia, Canada, he supports the hearing into whether Gallagher can keep his trident, a symbol of the SEALS, in light of Gallagher's conviction at a general court-martial in San Diego in July.

 

"I believe the process matters for good order and discipline," Spencer said.

 

On Tuesday, the Union-Tribune reported that the decision to review the SEAL qualifications of four service members connected to Gallagher's war crimes case by the commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, Rear Adm. Collin Green was made with the support of Navy leadership, including the chief of naval operations, Adm. Mike Gilday.

 

Gallagher's legal team said the decision to hold board reviews was a challenge to Trump's authority as commander in chief.

 

Trump has intervened several times on Gallagher's behalf. On Thursday, about an hour after one of Gallagher's lawyers appeared on Fox & Friends decrying the review board, Trump took to Twitter to express his disapproval.

 

"The Navy will NOT be taking away Warfighter and Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher's Trident Pin. This case was handled very badly from the beginning. Get back to business!"

 

The Navy Chief of Information, Rear Adm. Charlie Brown, told the Union-Tribune Thursday afternoon that the Navy was waiting for Trump to issue more specific orders before officially canceling the review.

 

"The Navy follows the lawful orders of the President," Brown said in a statement.

 

"We will do so in case of an order to stop the administrative review of SOC Gallagher's professional qualification. We are aware of the President's tweet and we are awaiting further guidance."

 

A senior Navy official told the Union-Tribune late Thursday that, in fact, all the review boards have been halted pending further guidance from Trump.

 

Navy SEAL Chief Eddie Gallagher was charged with killing a wounded ISIS captive and shooting civilians during his time in Iraq in 2017. At the end of his court-martial, a jury acquitted him of the most serious allegations and convicted him of the offense of posing for photos with the body of the deceased fighter.

 

A military jury sentenced Gallagher to four months' confinement, which he served before trial, and reduced his rank to petty officer 1st class, or E-6.

 

On Nov. 15, President Donald Trump restored Gallagher's rank to E-7, or chief petty officer. The same day, Trump pardoned two Army service members accused of war crimes. His action on Gallagher's behalf was not a pardon or an exoneration.

Bloomberg News Announces It Will No Longer Investigate Any Of Mike Bloomberg's Democratic Rivals

 

What happens when a billionaire finance and media mogul announces he is running for president? How does his media empire avoid running into countless conflicts of interest? Well, in the case of Bloomberg News, which is the sole domain of Michael Bloomberg who just officially entered the 2020 presidential race, the company's editor-in-chief just announced that it will extend its long-running policy of not doing any investigative reporting on its owner to all of his Democratic competitors who are also running for president.

 

Or, as Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait said, "We cannot treat Mike's Democratic competitors differently from him."

 

And that's why handing America's free media into the hands of a handful of organizations and a few billionaires is generally a bad idea, because sooner or later one or all of them decide that the world will be better if they run it, and the conflicts of interest explode, which means far less coverage of precisely those who need the most investigation at precisely the most important time - just when they are about to be elected president.

 

On the other hand, while Bloomberg News will no longer cover any of the potential Democratic presidents, period, its "P&I team will continue to investigate the Trump administration, as the government of the day", albeit with the running disclaimer that its boss sees himself as Trump's biggest challenger. Good luck with objective reporting there.

 

What happens in the odd chance that Mike Bloomberg does win the nomination, at which point the billionaire will effectively have a massive "objective" newsroom as a PR weapon? According to Bloomberg News, it is still determining if and how it will continue to investigate the Trump administration if Bloomberg were to win the Democratic nomination and run against Trump in the general election. Until then, however, Bloomberg will clearly continue to focus on the president who for better or worse, remains the biggest traffic draw not only for Bloomberg but for every other media outlet out there.

 

All this was revealed in a memo to Bloomberg employees sent on Sunday morning after Bloomberg officially announced his candidacy, in which editor-in-chief John Micklethwait said also that:

 

-Going forward, the company will disclose that Bloomberg owns the company in all of its stories about the election.

-If other outlets publish stories about Bloomberg, Bloomberg Media would "either publish those articles in full, or summarize them for our readers - and we will not hide them."

-He noted that the company is following the same policy that it has applied to its coverage of corporate rivals CNBC and Reuters. Bloomberg doesn't investigate those companies, but it does report on the news of the day if it involves them.

-He said that Bloomberg News has already assigned a reporter to follow Bloomberg's presidential campaign, just as the company did when Bloomberg was running for New York City mayor.

-Bloomberg News would suspend its editorial board and that David Shipley, Tim O'Brien and other editorial board members will take a leave of absence to join Bloomberg's presidential campaign. Opinion columnists will continue to produce pieces, but editorial board bylines will cease.

Russia Exposes Operational Details on Several Israeli Strikes in Syria

 

Reveals Israel used Jordanian airspace to attack Damascus

 

Russia has repeatedly criticized Israel for attacks on Syria in recent months, but looked to step that criticism up on Friday, issuing specific operational details about four different Israeli attacks carried out over the past 10 days.

 

On November 12, Israel attacked the house of Islamic Jihad’s deputy leader in Damascus, killing his son and another civilian, while wounding 10 others. Three missiles were intercepted by Syria, but two other missiles hit the house.

 

On November 18, Israeli fighter jets entered Jordanian and Iraqi airspace, and attacked the al-Bukamal region. On the 19th, Israel attacked targets south of Damascus, and on the 20th Israel fired 40 cruise missiles into the Damascus suburbs, killing at least 10 Syrian soldiers and civilians.

 

While such incidents were all generally reported to be Israeli attacks, some of the specifics are likely to embarrass Israel. The revelation that they used Jordanian and Iraqi airspace in attacks is also likely to put pressure on both of those nations to defend their airspace at least a little bit.

 

Israel had made much of the November 20 attacks, presenting them as primarily targeting Iranians. Details on who was killed have not been made public, but it included a number of civilians. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly vowed to keep targeting Iran.

Political fundraiser with ties to Turkey and Libya offered witnesses millions to stay quiet

 

Federal prosecutors on Friday alleged that a political fundraiser offered six witnesses in a case against him $6 million for their silence.

 

The prosecutors also accused Imaad Zuberi, who is already accused of funneling foreign money into U.S. elections, of acting as an unregistered agent for the Turkish government and for Libyan government officials, as well as other foreign countries.

 

Zuberi later Friday pleaded guilty to counts on tax evasion, campaign finance violations and failing to register as a foreign agent.

 

Prosecutors have been investigating Zuberi over millions of dollars in political donations, including those to inaugural committees of both President Obama and President Trump

 

The prosecutors said in a court filing that Zuberi obstructed their probe β€œby paying, or offering to pay, $6,150,000 to six witnesses in return for their false testimony or silence” and that they would present evidence he acted on behalf of several foreign governments.

 

Zuberi is known to have ties to a high-profile Democratic Party donor linked to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s administration, and Zuberi is known to lobby on causes supported by Ankara, including efforts to have Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen extradited from Pennsylvania back to Turkey to face trial over his accused involvement in a failed coup.

The Vietnam era has been so romanticized in popular culture that kids can't even come up with original slogans to scream at police. I get it. Or maybe they've been watching History Channel documentaries about the protests of that era that make it seem fun and cool to get arrested.

 

The fact is, these kids have been programmed to panic over climate change. They're not thinking, they're emoting. If they ever grow up, they will realize that what they are asking is impossible without destroying industrialized civilization.

That is what I was thinking. I remember hearing a story somewhere, can't remember where, and not sure if true, but the plane from Malaysia that went missing…..the people on the plane were all killed by some gas, and then taken somewhere and blood/fluid was drained from the bodies and the plane destroyed.

Small plane crashes in eastern Congo, killing at least 27 people

 

GOMA, Democratic Republic of Congo (Reuters) - At least 27 people were killed, including some on the ground, when a small plane crashed into a densely populated neighborhood in the city of Goma in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo on Sunday, a rescue official said.

 

The propeller plane, which was operated by local company Busy Bee, crashed shortly after take-off en route to the city of Beni, about 250 km (155 miles) to the north, officials said.

 

The company said the 19-seater Dornier 228-200 had 16 passengers and two crew members on board.

 

There was no word yet on what might have caused the accident.

 

Joseph Makundi, the coordinator of rescue services in Goma, told Reuters that 27 bodies had been recovered from the rubble, including those of several people hit by falling debris.

 

β€œI was at a restaurant with my family when I saw the plane spinning three times in the air and emitting a lot of smoke,” said Djemo Medar, an eyewitness in Goma’s Mapendo neighborhood. β€œAfter that we saw the plane crash into this house,” he said pointing to a nearby building.

 

We know the pilot. His name is Didier. He was shouting, β€˜Help me, Help me.’ But we had no way to get to him because the fire was so powerful,” Medar said.

 

At the crash site, residents threw water from buckets and cooking pots onto the smoldering wreckage. The rear section of the plane rested sideways, propped up by a wall, videos posted on social media showed.

 

Police arrested one man for stealing cash from the rubble and fired warning shots to disperse people who had started looting, he said.

 

Air accidents are relatively frequent in Congo because of lax safety standards and poor maintenance. All Congolese commercial carriers, including Busy Bee, are banned from operating in the European Union.

Out of the thousands of chemical additives that were discovered, several are known or suspected carcinogens, like synthetic sodium nitrite, which is found in many varieties of processed meats. The World Health Organization considers these probably carcinogenic. Another chemical, butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is listed by the state of California as a cancer-causing chemical can be found in many items, such as a frozen pepperoni pizza.

 

Many other alarming chemicals are found in the packaging of the foods themselves, such as polypropylene, sulfuric acid and bisphenol A.

 

How Concerned Should You Be?

 

β€œIt really depends on what level of risk consumers are comfortable with,” said Dawn Undurraga, a nutritionist at EWG and co-author of the study. β€œThe more we learn about what is in conventional foods, the more evidence for concern we accumulate.”

 

If you are consuming a lot of processed foods, then obviously your risk level goes up, but these chemicals are certainly something to be aware of. If you can’t pronounce it on the ingredient list then it’s most likely a good thing to avoid.

Should The Government Take Some Responsibility?

 

Some consumers just assume that toxic chemicals should be regulated and legally prevented from winding up in our food. Aren’t there government organizations out there with our health and safety in mind? Unfortunately when it comes to chemical regulation β€” not just in our food, but also in our health and beauty products, as well as cleaning products, these chemicals simply aren’t regulated. For instance, the European Union has banned nearly 1300 chemicals from cosmetic products, versus only 11 in the United States. This means that manufacturers can use whatever the please, regardless of whether or not it’s gone through any appropriate safety testing.

 

β€œUnfortunately, our current policy on food additives was written in 1958 and has been completely co-opted by food and chemical companies,” Undurraga said. β€œAdditives that are deemed β€˜Generally Recognized as Safe,’ or GRAS, by a food or chemical company or trade association are exempt from the food additive petition process where the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reviews the safety of the additive.”

Sprite Transgender Ad Proves There Is a War on for Children’s Hearts, Minds and Bodies

 

How many people remember the days when the purpose of television commercials was to sell audiences some newfangled product they didn’t even realize they needed as opposed to some dangerous agenda? It seems we’re losing those memories fast.

 

The world of corporate advertising has finally crossed the cultural Rubicon. In a newly released advertisement, yet another major corporation has idolized a lifestyle choice, which, naturally, has absolutely no connection to the traditional nuclear family that has guided Western civilization through thick and thin over two millennia. The controversial ad in question focuses all of its fervid attention not on the product, but rather on promoting transgender attitudes among the impressionable pubescent teen population.

 

This latest creation borne out of the Cultural Marxist laboratory, which just happens to be a commercial for Sprite, a beverage produced by the Coca-Cola Company, features several adolescents preparing for their attendance at some rainbow-festooned event on the streets of a soulless urban jungle. If the ad feels more like a documentary than a promotional for carbonated sugar water that’s because no actor is ever seen quenching their thirst with the drink. Instead, the product has become a vehicle – a veritable Trojan horse – for driving home a hugely controversial issue into the living rooms of millions of Americans.

 

Note: Anyone confused by what is meant by the term β€˜Cultural Marxism’ may want to watch a brief segment of an interview (below) with the late journalist Andrew Breitbart, who provides a compelling argument as to how and why the Western world is now plagued with stultifying political correctness and the social justice mindset.

 

In the Sprite TV ad, an apparent mother [the word β€˜apparent’ is necessary since the term β€˜gender’ has become an entirely fluid concept defined solely by a person’s feelings, which may change at a whim] opens the action to the sound of melodramatic melodies as she applies eyeliner on her apparent biological son. Cut away to scene two. Yet another apparent mother helps her apparent daughter wrap herself into a corset to conceal the fact that β€˜she’ has breasts. Heaven forbid! Whether a mastectomy is on the horizon for the β€˜girl’, together with a lifetime commitment to testosterone injections, the audience is none the wiser.

 

Next, an apparent grandmother dotes over her apparent cross-dressing grandson as he dons a mauve wig before wiggling in uncontained excitement, together with Baba, at their reflection in the mirror. I’m struggling to imagine a grandmother that would ungrudgingly accept such a scenario, but in the fizzy pop reality world of the Coca-Cola Company anything is possible.

 

What’s missing in this corporate-sponsored trip to the far side of insanity? Well, for starters, common sense. After all, is it really wise to award hero status upon pubescent teens over their sexual orientation, which is oftentimes confused at best? Teenagers are already greatly influenced by the myriad messages they are bombarded with daily over social media. Do they really need a Fortune 500 company promoting a lifestyle, namely transgender, which carries with it an entire rainbow of untold risks? The liberal media rarely reports it, but there are thousands of youth right now attempting to reverse the bodily harm they have done to themselves by trying to physically become the opposite sex, which is – it needs to be clarified once and for all – absolutely impossible.

Bibi’s Get-out-of-Jail Card… War With Iran

 

It seems more than coincidence that as the legal noose tightens around Prime Minister Benjamin β€œBibi” Netanyahu, Israeli military have suddenly stepped up air strikes on Iranian forces based in Syria.

 

Playing the strongman role on national security and winning another term as prime minister would stave off prosecution over pending corruption charges.

 

If Netanyahu is ousted from office he will be immediately subjected to trial. A subsequent conviction on all charges could result in him facing up to 13 years in jail. A lot is at stake for Israel’s elder statesmen. At 70 years old, he is the longest-serving prime minister in the history of the Israeli state, having been elected four times already.

 

Therefore the longer he can hang on as premier, the longer he can postpone his day in court, as the leadership position affords a certain immunity while in office.

 

Israel’s current political impasse is a particularly dangerous time for Netanyahu. After two elections held earlier this year, neither Netanyahu nor his nearest rival Benny Gantz have been able to form a coalition government. Netanyahu is still the sitting PM. But lawmakers could vote for a new prime minister in the next few weeks, or else failing that the country will be forced to go to a third election in March next year.

 

Either way, Netanyahu needs to stay in office if he wants to throw the prosecution trial into the long grass. That means the temptation will be ever-stronger for the hot-headed commando-turned-politician to rile up security tensions with Iran and Syria, as well as neighboring Palestinians. Netanyahu has always drummed up votes by presenting himself as the great defender of Israelis.

 

Over the past week, as a three-year criminal investigation concluded with charges being leveled against Netanyahu for bribery, fraud and abuse of power for favorable media influence, Israeli forces under his command launched deadly air strikes against Iranian targets in Syria. Reports indicated that around 23 people were killed, most of whom were Iranian military belonging to the elite Quds Force. Though Syrian media claimed that most of the attacks were intercepted. Whether Iranian personnel were killed or not, the Israeli intention is to provoke Tehran.

 

Notably, Israeli military usually do not confirm or deny when they carry out air strikes on Syria or neighboring countries. This week, however, Israeli leaders including Netanyahu were bragging about the strikes.

 

Netanyahu said: β€œI have made clear that any who attack us, we will attack them. That is what we did tonight [November 20] toward military targets of the Iranian Quds Force and Syrian military targets.”

 

The Israelis claim they were responding to rockets fired from the Golan Heights. But it seems those rockets were provoked by earlier Israeli strikes on Syria just days before.

 

There is more than a suspicion that Israel was orchestrating the pretext for a flare up in violence. The purpose being to allow Netanyahu to dust off his war medals and flex his muscles for the electorate.

Remember this is a movie and the normies are just becoming aware there are tickets to a big show…we've been stage hands on the set for the past two years.

The β€œMamet Principle”of pretending not to know things was on full display today during a Meet the Press interview with Fusion founders Glenn Simpson and Peter Fritsch.

 

For obvious reasons fellow traveler Chuck Todd avoided the most damning lines of questioning including why they hired Nellie Ohr, why Simpson lied to the House intelligence committee, and why Glenn Simpson invoked the fifth amendment in refusing to testify to the House Judiciary Committee.

It was demonstrably evident that Glenn Simpson was working with Russian operative/lobbyist Natalia Velelnitskaya in a 2016 effort against the Trump campaign. However, during the interview today Glenn Simpson takes the defensive position that he was likely tricked by the Russian.

While Fusion-GPS founder Glenn Simpson was domestically working with Russian lobbyist Natalia Veselnitskya. A little reported Russian Deputy Attorney General named Saak Albertovich Karapetyan was working double-agents for the CIA and Kremlin.

 

Karapetyan was directing the foreign operations of Natalia Veselnitskaya, and Glenn Simpson was assisting her inside the U.S. Glenn Simpson managed Veselnitskaya through the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr. However, once the CIA/Fusion-GPS operation using Veselnitskaya started to unravel with public reporting… back in Russia Deputy AG Karapetyan died in a mysterious helicopter crash.

Additionally back in 2018 Simpson claimed in testimony to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence that he did not have contact with any FBI or DOJ officials regarding the infamous Steele dossier until after the 2016 election. But Bruce Ohr’s emails show that he and Simpson were in contact as early as August 2016

There was a lot of testimony during this past week's impeachment inquiry about Russian interference in our 2016 election, at the same time that the president continued to assert that Ukraine was involved. On this Sunday's 60 Minutes, Bill Whitaker speaks with the Justice Department official who is overseeing the case against 12 Russian military intelligence agents for a so-called "hack and release" operation that targeted the 2016 election. He explains how members of two Russian military units hacked staffers' computers inside the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and disseminated proprietary information that was used to undermine individual candidates and sow discord. Whitaker's report will be broadcast on 60 Minutes, Sunday, November 24 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

 

Whitaker speaks to John Demers, the assistant attorney general who runs the Department of Justice's National Security Division, which inherited the Russian hacking case from Special Counsel Robert Mueller. There is no doubt in his mind the Russian agents executed the hack and strategically released the stolen documents using the online persona "Guccifer 2.0." The agents behind the plot gave the stolen data to political operatives and bloggers, and some material eventually found its way into the mainstream media. "Guccifer 2.0 is a fictional online persona," says Demers. "It's all an effort on the Russian side to hide their involvement."

 

The Russian information warfare operation is laid out in a remarkably detailed 29-page indictment compiled by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team and handed off to the Justice Department's National Security Division. The case remains open. "The insight here is that behind every one of those keyboards is not an IP address. It's a human being," says Demers. He says he'd be surprised if he ever gets to try the Russians in court, but adds: "The purpose of this kind of indictment is to educate the public." Even so, he's confident he could get a conviction. "We believe that if we had to, we could prove [that the Russians interfered with the U.S. election] in court tomorrow using only admissible, non-classified evidence to 12 jurors."

 

Robert Anderson, who oversaw the FBI's counterintelligence and cybersecurity divisions, says the Russian hacking teams are made up of "some of the best mathematical minds in Russia." He says the operation in 2016 was "a huge success" and warns that the Russians will be back for the 2020 election. "The thing that you need to worry about with Russia and every one of their intelligence services is they will learn from these operations…They will analyze everything they did right or wrong. And when they attack again, they will not come at you the same way," he says.

Effects and Results of the Great Awakening

Clearly, their unity gave them strength to face the impending danger of war with England. Not only did the Great Awakening unite the colonies religiously but also politically. After being freed from inner sin, the colonists also sought freedom from external tyrants. The motto of the Revolutionary War was, "No King but King Jesus!"
