How to Quickly Spot a Clown:

 

– Attempting to get a divisive or emotional knee-jerk trigger response from (you) to derail research is a red flag.

– Concern trolling and copy/pasta spam shilling that contradicts confirmed findings is another red flag.

– Employing faux debate tactics: Generalizations, gas-lighting, misdirection, false equivalences, confusing correlation with causality, appeal to authority, transference, false precepts, personal attacks, straw-men, red herrings, etc. are all yet another red flag.

– Promoting social ethics that are disingenuous, such as doxxing anyone, "reverse psychology" ploys or ones based on lying to the American People; these are obvious red flags.

– Promoting tactics that are unethical, illegal or involve violence outside the scope of the Law are huge red flags.

– Employing Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt tactics for any reason is highly suspicious.

 

– Topic sliding: If very sensitive information of a critical nature has been posted on a discussion forum, it can be quickly removed from public view by topic sliding. In this technique a large number of unrelated posts, or posts aimed at diluting the information being presented, are submitted in an effort to trigger a topic slide to literally push content out of view. An operator can control several fake UIDs via the bots they make use of; these can also be called upon in the other techniques to try to mask the intent of the operator from the users at large. Although it is difficult or impossible to censor the posting it is now lost in a sea of unrelated and bogus postings.

 

– Astroturfing consensus: A common technique that attempts to build a manufactured consensus around a flawed set of statements or compromised information. This is related to consensus cracking, where false evidence is injected in an attempt to dispute or discredit what the current consensus is, and push it towards the desired false consensus. Misleading and false evidence and information are often salted into the evidence pool, with an aim to impede organic consensus building, while also poisoning the available information and evidence.

 

– Seeding information: Operatives will also purposely proffer flawed or bogus information, based on the needs of their mission. Their most common tactic is providing information or evidence which is backed by bad source material in the hope that the "source of the source" is never checked. This serves several objectives, mainly resource consumption, evidence pollution, discouragement and misdirection.

 

How to spot a Clown's bot

 

– NEVER KNOWINGLY ENGAGE A CLOWN OR BOT DIRECTLY. It just wastes bread with their responses, and hands them a target to programmatically lock on to with the bots. If you suspect a clown or bot is trying to engage (you), these countermeasures will force the handler to earn it, which usually outs them; They are lazy.

– It seems that the easiest way to foil the bots is to point them out by proxy, by copy/pasting the user's ID as a quoted reference and intentionally breaking its post link in your response, and answering it with text in an image until they start misfiring because they can't parse the response to lock onto a target correctly.. Doing this can also make the bots look artificially erratic, and easier for other anons to spot. It also makes it so the handlers HAVE TO engage.

 

What we know about the cl0wnbots

 

– Require a handler to watch for, target, and be in the thread

– Can not enter threads themselves

– Can pick up random or contradictory meme flags

– Consist of multiple bots that respond to posts and each other, and can create posts

– Activate on lists of trigger words; these can change over time

– Use a combination of legit pasta, pre-written points, or spam targeted at sliding the thread

– Have unwittingly pasta'd supportive posts

– Are employed mostly at night and on weekends (US time)

– Add to bump limits

– Can be filtered by ID once they are observed

– Are not perfected and can be easily spotted

– Were tested briefly prior to being deployed starting on the /CBTS/ board

– Have certain flaws that can cause them to misfire in sometimes comical ways

– The handlers can make bogus clown threads, but also can be confused by accidental ones

– Handlers, as of now, cannot access the servers

– Have still not succeeded in their mission

– Still can't meme

– Still can't meme

Yes, in Saudi Arabia it’s clear that our laws are coming from Islam and the Quran, but we have the four schools—Hanbali, Hanafi, Shafi’i, Maliki—and they argue about interpretation.

 

The first Saudi state, why was it established? After the Prophet Muhammad and the first four caliphs, the people of the Arabian Peninsula went back to fighting each other like they did for thousands of years. But our family, 600 years ago, established a town from scratch called Diriyah, and with this town came the first Saudi state. It became the most powerful economic part of the peninsula. They helped change reality. Most other towns, they fought over trade, hijacked trade, but our family said to two other tribes, “Instead of attacking the trade routes, why don’t we hire you as guards for this area?” So trade grew, and the town grew. This was the method. Three hundred years later, this is still the way. The thought was always that you need all the great brains of the Arabian Peninsula—the generals, the tribal leaders, the scholars—working with you. One of them was Muhammad ibn abd al-Wahhab.

 

But our project is based on the people, on economic interests, and not on expansionist ideological interests. Of course we have things in common. All of us are Muslim, all of us speak Arabic, we all have the same culture and the same interest. When people speak of Wahhabism, they don’t know exactly what they are talking about. Abd al-Wahhab’s family, the al-Sheikh family, is today very well known, but there are tens of thousands of important families in Saudi Arabia today. And you will find a Shiite in the cabinet, you will find Shiites in government, the most important university in Saudi Arabia is headed by a Shiite. So we believe that we are a mix of Muslim schools and sects.

 

Goldberg: But what about the funding of extremists?

 

MbS: When you talk about funding before 1979, you are talking about the Cold War. You had communism spreading everywhere, threatening the United States and Europe and also us. Egypt had turned in that time to this sort of regime. We worked with whomever we could use to get rid of communism. Among those was the Muslim Brotherhood. We financed them in Saudi Arabia. And the United States of America financed them.

 

Goldberg: Was it a mistake?

 

MbS: If we went back in time, we would do the same thing. We would use these people again. Because we were confronting a bigger danger—getting rid of communism. Later on we had to see how we could deal with the Muslim Brotherhood. Remember, one of the presidents of the United States called these people freedom fighters.

 

We tried to control and manage their movements. But then came 1979, which exploded everything. The Iranian revolution [created] a regime based on an ideology of pure evil. A regime not working for the people, but serving an ideology. And in the Sunni world, extremists were trying to copy the same thing. We had the attack in Mecca [on the Grand Mosque]. We were in a situation of revolution in Iran, and they were trying to copy it in Mecca. We were trying to keep everything tied together, to keep everything from collapsing. We faced terrorism in Saudi Arabia and in Egypt. We called for the arrest of Osama bin Laden very early, because he was not in Saudi Arabia. We suffered quite a lot by fighting terrorism, until 9/11 happened. This is the story.

To recap the fun for you, we’ve compiled the five craziest statements Trump made at his campaign rally in Georgia.

1.) Trump says there’s a one-in-five chance he could talk North Korea into giving up its nuclear weapons.

Trump has said before that he would personally meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Responding to critics of this position, Trump today said, “Who the hell cares? I’ll speak to anybody. There’s a 10% or 20% chance I can talk him out of those damn nukes.”

You might recall that Trump has also said he’d be willing to encourage South Korea to build and maintain its own nuclear weapons so that it would not have to rely on the United States for protection any longer. It’s not clear how Trump would encourage North Korea to give up its nukes even as South Korea is arming itself with them, but in his defense: He’s not even trying to make sense.

2.) America will cease to exist because Russia’s superior nuclear arsenal will destroy us.

Despite constant complaining from Republicans, the United States still has by far the most powerful military on the planet. Trump, however, said today that our nuclear capabilities are far behind where those pesky Russians are.

“Our nuclear is old,” he said. “Putin’s is tippy-top, from what I hear. We’ve got to be careful.”

As of 2015, the United States had 7,100 nuclear warheads while Russia had 7,700 — this is not an especially large gap, especially when you consider that NATO allies Britain and France also had a combined 525 warheads as well. Additionally, 3,200 of those Russian nuclear warheads were awaiting dismantlement, whereas just 2,340 American warheads were awaiting dismantlement. If those warheads were dismantled on time, the United States would have a numerical advantage in total warheads.

And of course, nuclear warheads are only one part of having a strong military and the United States’ military spending is around ten times Russia’s.

Nonetheless, Trump also said that if this country doesn’t make the changes he’s proposing, “eventually, it’s not going to survive, just so you understand.”

3.) We must create “safe zones” for Syrian refugees.

This might be the single least thought out Trump policy proposal ever, which is saying a lot. But this is what he actually said: “We have to build safe zones. Build them in Syria, build them over there… and get the Gulf states to pay for it.”

The idea that we could build “safe zones” for people in Syria without a massive use of military force is just crazy. Any attempt to carve out and maintain zones where Syrians could live in peace away from the fighting would be enormously costly, much more costly than accepting refugees into our country.

Oh, and the fact that Trump thinks he could “get the Gulf states to pay for it” is just the cherry atop the insanity sundae.
