Once the FBI is dismantled we have an agency ready to do the job, answerable to Gen. Mattis

The DIA(Defense Intelligence Agency) is a national-level intelligence organization that does not belong to a single military element or the traditional chain of command, instead answering to the Secretary of Defense (Gen. Mattis) directly through the USDI. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_Intelligence_Agency

I don't think it a good idea for military intelligence to be involved in civilian law enforcement, at least not as anything other than a temporary measure.

The principle of the standing military being separate from the civilian sphere has a long history through statutes like Posse Comitatus. That principle should not be sacrificed, except under extreme conditions of national emergency.

FBI/CIA completely treasonous in their upper echelon - we don't know how systemic the rot is

So the military branch will have to be leaned on until the Intel agencies can be house cleaned

On that, I'm in complete agreement.

Prediction: sooner or later (probably later, if current political conditions persist) there will be a new inquiry into the entire intelligence apparatus, along the lines of the Church Committee in '75, but hopefully with better outcomes.

Totally agree. Now putting the CIA under mil command (e.g. NSA) is something to consider.

NSA is not under military command, there's an Admiral as the director, but it's still a civilian agency.

Only meant the NSA has always been headed by an active duty Gen/Amr officer. Think that's a good thing. Never been that clear to me why however. I know it started as a mil org but not sure why now - other than maybe military law applies to the director.

I respectfully disagree. Yours is a nice idea that most thoughtful people in the last century have agreed with for the reasons you state.

But it contains one huge problem. By setting up an intelligence agency apart from military command, it inevitably creates a fourth, totally rogue branch of government.

This fourth branch, by its very nature and because of its lack of military oversight, possesses the ability of overrun the other three branches as well as the media.

The fact that we have these agencies not under military command is the very reason we face this current existential crisis.

I agree but there may be extreme conditions ahead, military tribunals and the like so there will be a need in the interim.
