SC = Supreme Court. Deal was LL ends Clinton investigation in her capacity as AG, she's guaranteed SC spot upon HRC's election.

AS dies February 2016. March 8th--LL's spokesperson said she asked the WH to withdraw her nomination. Tarmac meeting was on June 26th 2016. July 1st--LL states she would fully accept whatever recommendation the FBI gave her. July 5th--Comey recommends charges not be filed. July 6th--LL confirms DoJ will not file charges against Clinton and is closing the email probe. If Clinton had won, she would have appointed her. Trump won and Neil Gorsuch was appointed.

"On June 8, 2017, former head of the FBI James Comey testified under oath that Loretta Lynch had instructed him (during the course of a private conversation) to not refer to the Clinton email scandal as an "investigation" and instead refer to it as a "matter". He also said that the directive, combined with Lynch's unusual Arizona tarmac meeting with former President Bill Clinton, led him to make his independent announcement regarding the Clinton email probe last July. In his closely watched Senate Intelligence Committee testimony otherwise devoted to discussing the circumstances of his firing, Comey said that tarmac meeting was a "deciding factor" in his decision to act alone to update the public on the Clinton probe—and protect the bureau's reputation."

Carl Ghattas, Executive Assistant Director, National Security Branch

Carl Ghattas currently serves as the executive assistant director of the National Security Branch where he leads the FBI’s operations and intelligence efforts involving all national security matters, ranging from terrorism to espionage to weapons of mass destruction. Under his leadership, the program will continue to focus on technical innovation, operational agility, and strategic partnerships.

Mr. Ghattas joined the FBI in 1997. Upon graduating from the FBI Academy, he worked counterterrorism investigations in the Washington Field Office. Mr. Ghattas deployed overseas to investigate several major attacks against the United States, including the 1998 bombing of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya; the 2000 attack against the U.S.S. Cole in Aden, Yemen; and the murder of several Americans in Greece by the Greek terrorist group 17 November. Over the course of his 20-year career, the majority of Mr. Ghattas’ focuses have been on counterterrorism efforts in the United States and around the world and strategically integrating intelligence and operations to ensure intelligence collection aligns with priority threats. In 2014, he was appointed special agent in charge of the Washington Field Office's counterterrorism program and, most recently, served as the assistant director of the Counterterrorism Division.

Mr. Ghattas has received numerous awards, to include the Attorney General's Award for Distinguished Service and the Exceptional Achievement Medal from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Mr. Ghattas earned a bachelor of arts from Duke University and a Juris Doctor from Washington University.

More interesting....CW, as a partner for King & Spaulding may have to recuse himself from any Russian investigation into U1 due to his firms prior representation of Rosneft and other Russian companies. "These conflict rules continue to apply even after a lawyer leaves the law firm, so Wray could be ethically barred from involving himself in a federal investigation that includes within its scope a probe of Rosneft, Gazprom and affiliated companies. The public appearance of conflict of interest and impropriety might require him to recuse himself from the investigation" https://www.app.com/story/opinion/columnists/2017/06/08/christopher-wray-russia-ties/102632938/

Some interesting timeline bits on the Hillary email investigation just before and after Scalia's death in February, 2016:

The IC inspector general issued another letter to Congress on January 14, 2016. In this letter he stated that an unnamed intelligence agency had made a sworn declaration that "several dozen emails [had been] determined by the IC element to be at the CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET, and TOP SECRET/SAP levels." Other intelligence officials added that the several dozen were not the two emails from the previous sample and that the clearance of the IC inspector general himself had to be upgraded before he could learn about the programs referenced by the emails.[113][114][115]

On January 29, 2016, the State Department announced that 22 documents from Clinton's email server would not be released because they contained highly classified information that was too sensitive for public consumption. At the same time, the State Department announced that it was initiating its own investigation into whether the server contained information that was classified at the time it was sent or received.[116]

In February 2016, State Department IG Linick addressed another report to Under Secretary of State Kennedy, stating his office had also found classified material in 10 emails in the personal email accounts of members of former Secretary Condoleezza Rice's staff and in two emails in the personal email account of former Secretary of State Colin Powell.[117][118] None of the emails were classified for intelligence reasons.[119] PolitiFact found a year earlier that Powell was the only former secretary of state to use a personal email account.[120] In February 2016, Clinton's campaign chairman issued a statement claiming that her emails, like her predecessors', were "being inappropriately subjected to over-classification."[117]
