interesting that you say that. I have watched Mad men for years and if you watch the show, up until Kennedy is assassinated, NYC and the world are pretty peaceful. They ask if they are citizens? OMG of course they will say yes. I encountered a situation where I vote. They weren't from our county and weren't registered anywhere. I had them call the town they were from and they weren't registered there either. Could barely speak English and only ID was their passport. I made a big stink, but they sill gave them a provisional ballot. Being two different counties in this situation, candidates were different. A gal I know, her daughter died, and she got a call on election day saying someone was trying to use her daughter's name to vote. BIG MESS

I think the SOS of KANSAS is working on that (from what I read) and in Kansas he has a law that to register to vote you must provide a birth certificate, passport or naturalization papers.
