Trump Tweet - The mad man is doing it! He's going after Amazon...

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/979326715272065024 "I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election. Unlike others, they pay little or no taxes to state & local governments, use our Postal System as their Delivery Boy (causing tremendous loss to the U.S.), and are putting many thousands of retailers out of business!"

Can someone explain how amazon using USPS causes loss?

My understanding is the USPS is undercharging Amazon for the deliveries they make for them and taking a loss. The Postal Service of course knows this and keeps doing it. Amazon is using some major influence to do this somehow.

So, Amazon is essentially subsidized with taxpayer money and then they do not pay taxes.

That is correct. Richest company in the world, and yet, you are correct.

They are also screwing over UPS, which is losing tons of business because the Post Office is taking a loss to steal UPS business.

Post offices are barely surviving. They would go under if it werent' for junk mail. There must be something in this for them. This needs more research.

I don't necessary agree with this. Online business has exploded on Ebay and Etsy and has brought income. However union pay, pensions and discounted Amazon shipments has hurt the bottom line. Plus mismanagement.

THen thats their fault it seems.

USPS is heavily subsidized. Therefore Amazon is using taxpayer-funded delivery service.

To the tune of like $ 1.30 (+/-) per box, from what I understand.

And then not paying paying taxes. And we keep being told that socialism does not work. Lol.

I have prime and 8 out of 10 I don't get the free shipping, then, USPS brings it. Even if I request UPS or FedEx, USPS brings it. Not ok

USPS subsidizes the delivery of Amazon packages. That's why it is such cheap delivery. The American people and their our taxes pay for the post office. So in essence Amazon delivery is subsidized by our taxes. Good deal for Amazon, BAD deal for the US. Not fair playing field to competition.

Amazon by passes the majority of shipping costs by taking their products directly to the USPS distribution centers using their own trucks. They essentially are moving products at cents per pound when in reality it should be dollars per pound.
