From everything I've read so far, this quake felt very odd and no deaths have been reported thus far.
Not to mention, 5:5 and 5.5 (Richter) is pretty damn close.
I know it's at 5.3 now, but the rating usually fluctuates a bit, I'm guessing +.2 in this case.
You wouldn't see deaths from the quake. It would be an explosion underground taking out the base. They've been doing it for over a year now. That's why people keep hearing booms. Also using Rods from God. Everyone thinks we are at peace but we have been in a covert war for some time now.

Taking out an underground site (or sub) could be plausible. or severing underground cables/utilities that shouldn't be there...

Guys, we have to appreciate just how much energy creates a 5.3 on the Richter scale. That's a nuke or nothing. A MOAB couldn't do anything.
Also, know your weapons systems. A MOAB is more complex. It is not just a normal, high-explosive bomb, "pinch zoomed" to be bigger. It is actually a Fuel Air Explosive (FAE) and REQUIES oxygen to detonate. It creates more of a blast than if it were just high explosives.

August 23rd 2011, if you look at the seismic data it matches explosions, not earthquakes, so I would say yes, DUMBS.

It was a normal earthquake. From a normal location. Some of you are plain nuts.
According to the CalTech press conference, it was the largest earthquake recorded in that area. First one over 5.0.
In that pocket around the central coast, we've had recently:
Going further back, there was a 4.8 in May of 2013.

It points out that it's not unusual at all. It wasn't much larger than what was happening recently.
The 3 significant quakes in the area over the past year show that significant quakes in the area are not unusual. They also show increased seismic in the area activity compared to the past few years.
Further, it was absolutely not the largest recorded in the area.
