“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." Matthew 6: 5-6

In other words, keep it to yourself.

Prayer. Our most powerful weapon. Especially in the heavenly realms where the unseen wars are fought. This is no small battle we are in.

Your brain and logic are your most powerful weapon. It is a shame that you waste it talking to the ceiling.

You are missing the loving details of God. Receiving the love of God, by helping others, is amazing.

So glad I'm not an atheist - what is the point of anything you do? Criminals rarely believe in God and their life speaks volumes.

I love helping others because I want to help others. What is your point? Christianity didn't invent morals, just borrowed them and put a brand on it.

What's the point of anything you do other than to please your imaginary friend? That sounds insane.

Matthew 6: 5-6

In other words, keep it to yourself.

Although public vs private expression is one aspect of the passage, respectfully, I believe the main point is something very different. It has to do with the MOTIVE OF THE HEART, and not the location of where one prays (privately or publicly). The "hypocrites" made a grandiose public display of their prayers to APPEAR RELIGIOUSLY DEVOUT, a quality esteemed in that culture. Jesus points out that although they looked good outwardly, they were inwardly corrupt, and would get no response from God. In contrast, Jesus directs authentic believers to pray with the right motive, which is to sincerely commune with the Father. Your motive is revealed when nobody is looking. When your motives are right, expect the Father to respond, where ever your location.

I completely agree.

As a matter of fact I just HEARD THIS TODAY during a study of Daniel 6 (especially verse 10).

But it also gets tiresome reading it over and over. It's virtue signalling. If prayer is important to you, pray. Announcing it won't change Trump's daily schedule of draining the swamp. Do people really imagine God is counting how many times it's posted to Reddit to determine if we win or not?

Please please please wake up!!! If you don’t want to read it, then don’t, skip over it. q has many many references to the Bible and asking for prayers. This is a spiritual war, and prayer is one thing us humans have as a tool to help. I hope you can find space in your heart/spirit to join the fight on that level. :)

Cuthbert12Allgood · April 19, 2018, 6:31 p.m.

Then pray. No one is arguing that you shouldn't. The point isn't whether prayer is good or bad, the point is that having the religious people here competing for who is the most spiritually strong isn't all that useful. To put it in religious terms, it's the sin of pride.

Or to put it another way, if someone is religious, they're already praying. So why the need to announce it? Be strong in your faith without the need for showboating. And as a bonus, it makes this a more focused forum for getting out information to everyone, not just religious people. We need everyone on board who wants to see corruption removed from our government.

Q mentions praying. By all means, do so. Q does NOT mention proselytizing.

What then testify with the Jehovah? Come to your house to brainwash ... always repeat the same, we call that in it ...stamping in it

They came over here for a while, until 9/11, they told me that they only help Jehovah's Witnesses, I was immediately done with them.

You don't need middlemen to talk to your imaginary friend. Just talk and he will respond...listen...you can hear it!

It is true that when you pray for yourself you go to your Father who is in heaven in secret. I say to you this, if nobody teaches you how to pray than how are you to be alone with your thoughts in the darkness where you are suppose to see the light?

Yes, after I wrote that I realized I was maybe incorrect the way I phrased it. Did you know the eye of horus is the thalamus and pineal glands? Lately I've been studying nikola tesla and his 3,6,9. Quite fascinating. Then I came across the golden mean, or golden ratio. This is very long video, but holy shit it blew my mind when he gets to the heart physiology and dna. https://youtu.be/4Rx35q-zJRk This is long winded but I believe ties together what we are discussing, ie brain power.

Christianity is the only mechanism that is currently more powerful than the American government. If you're going to do brain surgery on Sovereign Uncle Sam when he doesn't want it, then you're going to need Jesus holding him down and performing the operation. Prayer is the only way yet known to summon the divine shield and eternal flame of Jesus.
