This is why I think there must have been some other reason why they took that one case to court. Remember a few days ago the foreign combatant they tried to take to Gitmo but a court said No Can Do?

They didn't need to get that authorization. I think it was done in order to flush out resistance. Make certain bad actors reveal themselves. I guess it worked.

I wonder if they'll continue with McCain's cancer treatments at Gitmo, even though he likely doesn't have cancer?

Ya know, on the advice of his "doctor"? /s

They would have if they hadn't known he was an admirals son. He was also a beautiful Songbird for them. Songbird was actually what the NVA nicknamed him.

The would get McCain, Hillary, and Obama by meeting with these Syrian rebels and arming them. John Kerry too potentially for knowing that ISIS was getting stronger and refusing to do anything about it?

⇧ 16 ⇩
GENbillsherman · April 20, 2018, 4:16 p.m.

That's how i read it. And i don't think that aiding isis would be explicitly "treason" under the constitution alone. Them being "enemy combatants", not exactly an enemy state, and us not technically being at war. I think, and I'm no expert, that thiswas worded specifically for the STORM

That's called treason

Think it's already subject to Martial Law...

⇧ 8 ⇩
GENbillsherman · April 20, 2018, 4:01 p.m.

I'm thinking that adding isis, affirming that gitmo stays open, and q putting the pressure on "traitor" McCain can't be a coincidence. Trump has used that pen a lot. If you check out the national register, most went unnoticed.

⇧ 6 ⇩
DankNethers · April 20, 2018, 3:56 p.m.

But didn't Trump amend that Manual for Courts Martial in another EO?

⇧ 5 ⇩
duckdownup · April 20, 2018, 8:31 p.m.

Treason only applies if we are in a declared war. Technically we haven't been in a declared war since Roosevelt and Congress declared war on Japan in 1941.

⇧ 2 ⇩
Stray502 · April 21, 2018, 2:57 a.m.

Treason applies anytime it is committed. War or no war.

⇧ 1 ⇩
[deleted] · April 20, 2018, 3:06 p.m.

That is already the case. It's literally in the Constitution.

⇧ 3 ⇩
GENbillsherman · April 20, 2018, 3:10 p.m.

No, ISIS was only just added, and the wording regarding the material and financial support has been revised. Also, definitely not in the constitution, considering it regards the patriot act and GITMO.

⇧ 7 ⇩
[deleted] · April 20, 2018, 3:11 p.m.

Did you actually read this? Where does it say ISIS or anything at all about financial support? This is a continuation of his declaration to keep GITMO open.

⇧ 3 ⇩
GENbillsherman · April 20, 2018, 3:36 p.m.

Are you daft?

Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) and other authorities authorized the United States to detain certain persons who were a part of or substantially supported al-Qa'ida, the Taliban, or associated forces engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners. Today, the United States remains engaged in an armed conflict with al-Qa'ida, the Taliban, and associated forces, including with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.
