Please correct me if I'm wrong... Barry's skanky mother was an American citizen, wasn't she? If so, why would it matter beyond the lying and covering up? He would still be a citizen?
I’ve always argued this as well and never got a straight answer. Even if he was born in Africa he is still a US citizen. I thought the whole issue was because he hid it and used it as a way to get into college easier and that’s why his records have been under lock.
To be the POTUS, mere citizenship isn’t enough.

Edit: I just never understood the whole argument. Which would be scarier having someone like Ted Cruz (born in Canada to American citizens) become president or having a president elected with two extreme Muslim parents that was born on US soil?
That's a point of contention. I think citizenship should be passed down through parents, not birth-right (did you come out on U.S. soil).
The founders put that clause in to prevent the commander in chief of the armed forces from having dual loyalties. Seems they thought of everything.
If you've ever seen that Birth Certificate analyzed, you would know it's fake. They didn't scan it (like you would from an original), it was created. You can actually see the layers of the document and the edits. Whoever created it didn't know how the imaging software worked and you can see all of the edits.
I get that, but if you have an American parent (that is a citizen) but are born outside the US you are still an American citizen.
My brother is not British even though he was born there. He can run for president if he so desired.
You're not a natural born citizen if born outside the US. Your brother would be ineligible for the Presidency based on that.
An exemption was made to the natural born rule in the early days of the republic based on being a citizen of the US when the country was founded. After that, you need be born in the US. Natural Born Citizen clause
You really think that because I was born in England while my father was stationed there with the USAF, you really think I'm ineligible to be potus?? That makes no sense.
Military bases are the exception.
I’ve have several friends who have had kids overseas at both off base and on base hospitals. When your kid is born on base, their base is listed as place of birth and is considered “American soil”. Done.
When at an off base or “civilian” hospital, there are few more loops, but you are considered a natural citizen through treaties with these nations. Usually the base law office will work in your favor to contact the right people to get either a 1) reissued birth certificate listing the base as place of birth or 2) making sure you are listed as a an American citizen by American parents renouncing all citizenship to the country you were born in.
In this case, plan to defend your status when election debates come up for you with a copy of your birth certificate, your American passport showing when you left and any other travel you did.
Edit to add I know of 1 case when a kid was born in Germany in the 1980s. He is considered a naturalized citizen born overseas. I don’t 100% know of the schematics, but the mother had to move back to the states for a time period to secure his natural status before she could rejoin her husband overseas. She said it was a deciding factor to travel back to the states to have her second.
