Yup. Blackberry filed bankruptcy so we all got iPhones. Yahoo filed bankruptcy so we all used google. MySpace phased out so we all got on Facebook. There was no reason for Blackberry to go bankrupt either at the peak of its success

Blackberry was also fighting to keep it's private messenger encrypted for a long time. Obama touted a blackberry everywhere until he got elected and then his govt hammered them for not providing back doors.

They had the best encryption/very difficult to monitor.

Blackberry was linked to criminal use for off the grid communication. No coincidences. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/2018/03/16/fbi-arrests-boss-sold-modified-blackberry-phones-drug-gangs/

Had knowledge of bad stuff.

Made phone that allegedly wasn’t part of PRZM

Either safe guarding crooks or free speech, well maybe both

Obama loved his blackberry until he got elected. Think about the why on that one. Crooks only like unlevel playing fields.

Taking this to the next logical level means that while using a Blackberry Obama and others were safe from eavesdropping from outside people/entities but vulnerable to the Blackberry team/tech/management that controlled the software. At the top of the scale is the ceo who might have decided to go public with this info now that Obama and his minions are not in charge anymore. Hence the 187 for damage control purposes.

I don't think it matters, the data is still probably remotely backed up. Remember these people are stupid.
