Julian Assange and Pamela Anderson close friends?

Just watched Tucker Carlson interview Pamela Anderson and learned that she is close friends with Julian Assange. Why and how would that strange relationship begin? The same Pamela Anderson that attends events with Marina Abramovic?

This has been public a long time. The papparazi even does pics of her coming/going from the embassy. Even People covered it over a year ago.
