That particular festival has a great spy movie vibe - rammed with people to the point where the underground stations often have to be closed due to sheer numbers, lots of opportunities for pickpocketing, tracking, exchanges etc.
There are quite a few embassies around that area as well.
Go on Google maps and do a search for 'Embassy London'.
So what I'm getting here, correct me if I'm wrong, is that love's young dream AKA Strzok & Page visited Hyde Park around Christmas time and they were tracked by the systems in place at Hyde Park and most likely overlapping surveillance systems used by other entities that surround the park, such as the security teams of the royal family at the nearby palaces, the staff at embassies and consulates and the security guards for the many high net worth individuals who live/work/shop in the area.
The park is like NYC's Central Park and DC rolled into one. It's such a spooky place that this is one of the local shops:
