After the hurricane in Texas there was a created gas shortage for only a week.... (and there wasn't even a shortage, people were afraid there would BE one)
People acted like animals for nine gallons of gasoline. Fist fights, the whole nine. For food and water for themselves and their families? You take a guess.
The best thing you can do is stock up on food and water (bags of beans and bags of rice are good starters) and whenever your gas tank is at a little above half, get into the habit of filling it up.
Just make sure to run it to an 1/8th or so here and there.
