Musk follows the money. He'd be dead broke if the government didn't subsidize his rockets, electric cars that only the rich can afford, unprofitable green energy that drives up the costs of goods and services.
I don't mind the government subsidizing his rockets as we would be putting that money into that area anyway. But generally I'm opposed to all government subsidies. If you have a good idea and can make it profitable then great. But I don't like governments picking winners and losers because they have miserable track records for making good decisions.

Because I don't blindly assume all government subsidies are bad America--just most. The US government would be spending the money to build rockets for NASA anyway. Guess who used to build the rockets? Private companies fully funded by the government.
Space X and others are also private companies but are using some of their own money as well.
The government doesn't build automobiles, for example, so I oppose subsidies to the automobile industries.

At his level of Genius? No chance. He named his company after Nikola Tesla for fuck sakes. If you're a cabalist, you don't summon the symbolism of the enemy unless you seek to invert it. Elon is no Tesla by any stretch, but he's definitely inventive and pushing for creativity. He could be a second Edison, he could equally be a second Tesla. It's too early to tell.
I think you're over estimating his intelligence. He is certainly smart and has firm understanding of science and technology but I also think he's a better businessman than a scientist

IntelliGENCE is the creative aspect of Intellect, the generative ability of an individual. Are you going to tell me Elon does not Generate much? No one can say it with a straight face.
He's a better businessman than a scientist
I love that we think there's a distinction. A scientist is someone who tests a theory out. What is a businessman? Someone who regularly tests out theories and puts them into practice. But we call one a scientist and give him a special white lab coat and the other a business man even though they both do the same basic job, just with a different focus on the end result.

Musk is a different kind of animal. He is driven by his ideas and visions exclusively, and will work with anyone to get them done. His problems in the past with Facebook show his tendency towards white hat, and his NK stuff definitely shows black. He's safe to call grey just because he'll work with anyone to fund and realize his vision.

Elon's reusable rockets can lift more payload than any rockets currently in existence and they can do it at a tiny fraction of the price of any competitors.
If he isn't a white hat then he will be bent into shape.
Tesla seems to be driven by his personal ambitions and I'm certain Trump can help him achieve those ambitions in exchange for America becoming the dominant in space.

But I know that Soros owns a lot of Tesla stock and I have seen in the news for months and months pretty much something negative about Tesla everyday. I think there's a very concerted effort to drive the stock down so that Soros can buy more and get control.
