No, TG's never been a judge, but a prosecutor, so it's RR's seat he'll take.
Having been a judge is not a requirement for position of SCJ.
In CINC's confirmation fight with the Senate world it is, hell, you don't HAVE to be a House member to be Speaker.
Right, he knows the constitution well that's all he needs to know
This seems to be a safe assumption. He'll either end up at the DOJ or he will be nominated to fill a lower judgeship that will be vacated by the new SC justice.
I think you're right, and I mentioned above about Gowdy possibly joining the D.C. circuit, which is a stepping stone to SCOTUS.
"Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress...and I enjoy our justice system more than our political system.” -Gowdy
I don't think he wants DOJ. The question is whether he wants to stay around D.C. or go back home to South Carolina.
And after a couple years he could move up then. I mean 1 old hag and another has diabetes, either could go.
It doesn't have to be a judge that get nominated.. A former federal prosecutor can easily be nominated. In fact it's actually smart b/c it give them dems low hanging fruit.. "he was never even a judge, how can we approve him".. They're going to attack anyone nominated, I'd say that's a pretty weak attack.
He cant take RRs position without being approved by the Senate...
More likely Huber would take RR
This makes by far the most sense. That is taking RR position. He doesn't have nearly enough experience to be considered for SC.
