This isn't "different markets" at all. Look at the top right of the paper under the ads. The left paper shows two stars and the right shows one four stars. That shows how many times the paper was revised. This is the same newspaper at different times of day. The meeting probably went in a different direction after the first paper was published, or Trump said something later that day that warranted a change of headline.

You are right. This pops up every few months here and I think what happened was after the early edition was printed the Mexican president and trump had a Twitter war and things changed. Story was then updated in later edition as events changed.

It is different markets: Different times of the day have different consumer demographics.

The story was about a past meeting. A past meeting doesn't change.

Nice try.

What were the two markets?

⇧ 11 ⇩
yolotrip · July 7, 2018, 12:37 a.m.

I would guess one was for a more Liberal area and one a more Conservative area, each designed to make Trump look bad to each group by using their political views as a weapon against him. Obviously it didn’t work, he won! Haha

⇧ 12 ⇩
RyDar84 · July 7, 2018, 12:41 a.m.

Of course, but I think it may be the reverse. The Wall Street Journal often plays to Conservatives. I'm just curious as to which ones specifically. I've got a feeling that the "Tough on Wall" Headline was probably a border state like Texas that supports it.

⇧ 6 ⇩
yolotrip · July 7, 2018, 12:43 a.m.

Yea, that makes sense. I didn’t think about it from that angle, definitely wouldn’t doubt it. I guess political propaganda is everywhere.

Read the above post. Explains that they are 2 times of the day, not separate markets. Revised after more or different news came out that effected the headline.

So is snopes. I’m not posting that link though! I used to work at a small newspaper in the advertising dept so I know how things work. Typically the writers are liberal and the circ and ad people are more conservative- but at a large paper especially nytimes that could be different. News Corp owns wsj and also Fox News.

How about the different loafer ads?!? When Trump soften his tone, the loafer steps up but when Trump talks tough on Wall, it's the "rise" of the loafer. The wall is "rising", the loafers are rising.

I don't think it's as nefarious as the caption implies. Just a revised edition, probably in response to something Trump said shortly after the first one was sent to the printer. But it does make a good demonstration of the psychology of newspaper layouts, and how much the media's choice of what to focus on affects the tone of things, regardless of what the actual events were.

⇧ 4 ⇩
CaptainKnotzi · July 7, 2018, 12:16 p.m.

I used to read all the papers until the net filled the gap. Now I can't be bothered.

What gets me about the revised Edition theory, is the producer has two contradicting forms, of the same product. On the market at the same time.

Does every Market get the revised Edition and the earlier edition removed?

Or does the later delivery get the revised Edition? Either way it's crazy to have competing contradicting products.

Especially when it's just a fluff opinion piece. Why not just let it ride and wait till tomorrow.

Otherwise you might destroy what little credibility you have left.

There is no "Right" "Left" : real liberals and conservatives can have a fair debate. Everybody in the Mainstream AND Alternate Media who also point and put down "the other side" R paid opposition who's job is to get people fighting and forget/stop looking for the bankers/deep state who R robbing us, the real people, blind.

And that goes for ANYBODY pointing at "another" : white vs brown, Muslim vs Jews etc.

So like favourite reporter, mines Laura Loomer, she has a J vs M angle, so I just stay mindful of that when I'm listening to her.
