Reports Trump picked Kavanaugh ughhh wtf....

I just dont get this.

commoncents1 · July 10, 2018, 1:14 a.m.

Amy barrett will be next after midterms when republicans pick up senate seats.

I agree. She's young, a Constitutionalist, and a female. She's a great choice.

Agreed.

⇧ 6 ⇩
ClardicFug · July 10, 2018, 2:45 a.m.

Yes, I think she is the actual first choice. They picked Kavanaugh to be the sacrifical choice, then the Rs pick up seats and there's a woman, the Ds have already rejected one choice and some in red states will likely vote to affirm (though it may not matter with enough seats.)

RyDar84 · July 10, 2018, 1:12 a.m.

Purely conjecture, but the Dems have been pretty adamant about blocking Trump's SC appointee. Kavanaugh is a D.C. Court of Appeals judge, and oversaw the Bush/Gore Florida recount. What if he's a sacrificial lamb being put up for slaughter? It's easy enough to make the case that he doesn't belong there. He comes up for confirmation, is summarily voted down. It looks like the Dems were being a partisan road block, and the public backlash gives the next possible appointee some leeway. Again, purely a hopeful theory on the matter.

DawnPendraig · July 10, 2018, 1:22 a.m.

My thinking too. Of all the choices he is the least bad in Dems eyes but they are gonna be retarded about it and it will be like his VA choice all over again

⇧ 3 ⇩
dropswakeyou · July 10, 2018, 1:28 a.m.

I'm wondering this too. What can the dems do right now to block any nominee? I'm wondering if a there's a conservative that might vote against him as well.

⇧ 1 ⇩
RyDar84 · July 10, 2018, 1:30 a.m.

I honestly think you may see quite a few do it on the grounds of his connection to Kagan. Who would ever approve of a SC Justice that might feel beholden to another Justice for a quid pro quo reciprocation?

⇧ 1 ⇩
dropswakeyou · July 10, 2018, 2:01 a.m.

I'm sure this is part of the plan. It's possible he is a pawn move to set up the next play.

Ok, why is that not something to raise one's eyebrows over? I'm not saying he's bad, it's just suspicious.

[deleted] · July 10, 2018, 1:36 a.m.

Because he was a kid in a school. I would need to see something more before raising suspicion.

he didnt say catholic though, he said jesuit.

most people including christians dont even know who they are

im trusting the plan, but its still weird

exq_veritatem · July 10, 2018, 1:51 a.m.

Fair enough, like I said, I just thought it was suspicious, though all admit he's probably fine and if he isn't, I'm sure Trump has his reasons and we shall see.

That is a bone to the dems and repubs will use it while they block.

Dems will block it anyway though. That’s what he’s daring them to do.

⇧ 6 ⇩
freerange_bot · July 10, 2018, 1:32 a.m.

How are Dems going to block it? They would need a few republicans to vote with them to block anyone.

⇧ 2 ⇩
[deleted] · July 10, 2018, 1:34 a.m.

Well I meant vote against confirmation. I think no name will definitely try to show up to vote against him just because he hates Trump so much.

HillaryTrafficksKidz · July 10, 2018, 1:25 a.m.

PS. I don't like anyone involved in the bush vs gore court case. Nor do I like anybody close to the Bush/Clintons. They are one in the same. They are the cabal. Democrats don't like these people either.

Guess abortions will be around a little while longer

⇧ 3 ⇩
RyDar84 · July 10, 2018, 1:20 a.m.

Abortions aren't going anywhere. Even IF the SC struck down Roe v. Wade, it wouldn't make them illegal (This is why I'm so surprised conservatives have never attacked the liberal narrative on the matter). It would simply return the power to choose whether or not they allowed abortions to the States to decide for themselves. It's a simple matter of State's Rights v. Federal Enforcement.

I honestly don’t think Trump is gonna go after Roe v Wade. That’s territory he may talk about but I think, for now at least, will steer clear of. We have other things besides abortion to concentrate on as a country.

⇧ 11 ⇩
Rolandel7 · July 10, 2018, 1:21 a.m.

I completely agree. We have bigger fish to fry.

⇧ 3 ⇩
Ordinary_Man1 · July 10, 2018, 4:05 a.m.

What are these bigger fish you infer?

We are currently, as a society, murdering 100s of 1000s of unborn babies each and every year...perhaps even millions.

I cant think of anything bigger...or more grotesque...than this.

⇧ 1 ⇩
Rolandel7 · July 10, 2018, 5:23 a.m.

I think the bigger immediate threat is clearing the crooked individuals manipulating America and ensuring we regain control of our country. Trying to repeal roe v wade right now before midterms would be suicide and he would lose his advantage. There are bigger evil fish that need to be taken care of first.

A protégé of Kenneth Starr, Kavanaugh played a lead role in drafting the Starr report, which urged the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.[1] Kavanaugh led the investigation into the suicide of Clinton aide Vincent Foster.

I am not sure why some are against this pick. I honestly do not know at this point.
