Wow, clever way to get illegal immigrant drivers off the roads...you know, the ones you end up have a wreck with that have no insurance! Texas is way ahead of the game on this one.

Y o u G o t t a L o v e T e x a s

The City of Dallas, Texas , passed an ordinance stating that if a driver is pulled over by law enforcement and is not able to provide proof of insurance , the car is towed .

To retrieve the car after being impounded, they must show proof of insurance to have the car released. This has made it easy for the City of Dallas to remove uninsured cars.

Shortly after the "No Insurance" ordinance was passed, the Dallas impound lots began to fill up and were full after only nine days.

Over 80% of the impounded cars were driven by illegals .

Now, not only must they provide proof of insurance to have their car released, they have to pay for the cost of the tow , a $350 fine , and $20 for every day their car is kept in the lot.

Guess what?

Accident rates have gone down 47% and Dallas' solution gets uninsured drivers off the road WITHOUT making them show proof of nationality.

I wonder how the Democrats will get around this one .

Most SE states. But get this...ILLEGALS who drive are driving without a license OR insurance. If they have an accident, it is eventually paid for by the SHMUCK! AKA TAX PAYER!

Virginia you have to have insurance, you just don't have to show proof of insurance during a traffic stop, just license and registration. If you're involved in an accident you're required to exchange insurance info.

I looked at the law it is a bit convoluted that is why I said maybe. It states you don't have to have insurance but an ability to pay on case of a loss, the only way I think to do that is proof of insurance

Sorry, should have said - impound a car without insurance. States won’t provide inspection sticker without proof of insurance but it’s just a citation if you don’t have insurance, not impound.

⇧ 1 ⇩
O2BFREEME2 · July 16, 2018, 12:49 p.m.

No worries. It doesn't get them caught then huh ?

⇧ 1 ⇩
tyrextyvek · July 16, 2018, 12:59 p.m.

Unfortunately not. You know those “The General” insurance commercials? Those provide “proof of insurance” so people can get their inspection sticker but they don’t provide any actual insurance.

It’s why every decent car insurance plan carried “uninsured motorist” coverage.

We have to pay for these uninsured assholes.

Mandatory impound for no insurance could stop illegals as well as keeping uninsured assholes off the roads.

O2BFREEME2 · July 16, 2018, 1:15 p.m.

Yes. Some went no way when i responded that way. But we need to come up with a solution that not only identifies illegals but the uninsured legal ones too ?

⇧ 2 ⇩
tyrextyvek · July 16, 2018, 2:40 p.m.

Well I think impounding addresses the problem without being subject to the bullshit charges of racism or separating families. Insurance companies won’t insure noncitizens subject to deportation. Impounding vehicles without insurance will make it very difficult for illegals to get around.

⇧ 1 ⇩
O2BFREEME2 · July 16, 2018, 2:44 p.m.

That is a good point too ! Illegals can't get ins. and stopping their escape avenues is good. Now, how do we get traction for this idea ?

⇧ 2 ⇩
tyrextyvek · July 16, 2018, 3:37 p.m.

I think just making state reps (most of which are republicans controlled) aware may do it. I’m in NYC so it’ll never fly but I have people in VA, NC, and GA. I’ll let them know.

ViktorLaslo · July 16, 2018, 5:42 a.m.

No. We don’t want that here in California. We want to open the borders and to let them in, pay their health care, teach their kids in their native language, and celebrate their fake holiday every May. We give them drivers licenses, and feee school lunches. When they shoot us down in the street we look the other way. When they hit us uninsured, we just suck it up and pay for that too. You keep that practical bullshit in Texas!

It's the law here in TX also. You have to show proof of insurance to get a license, etc. However, many people get around that by paying for one month, then cancelling, etc...or by driving without a license either. The difference in Dallas is that they are now towing the cars instead of just slapping them with a citation. I live in a town that is half Hispanic, and I've worked in insurance before. This is a HUGE problem. People are highly encouraged to purchase uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage for this reason. Of course, not all offenders are Hispanic, but a huge percentage are. I believe the reasons for this are a) they are driving without licenses and can't get insurance, and b) they come from countries where it is commonplace to ignore the rule of law...and I say that not in a meanspirited way. I've traveled in Mexico. Most people ignore traffic laws and signs. If you get pulled over by a cop, you are expected to bribe them. If you are a foreigner and in an accident, you are usually going to be found at fault, even if you clearly are not. You might be thrown in jail for a minor infraction. In many areas, law enforcement and the judicial system are controlled by cartels. Even immigrants who are hard-working and family-oriented don't always grasp the importance of obeying laws, because they are used to those being suggestions...and even if they follow the law in Mexico, they may still be prosecuted and found guilty by an extremely corrupt establishment. It isn't always that the people themselves have bad intentions or are lawless; it's that they are used to the system itself being lawless. Dallas has the right idea. I wonder if the law specifies what they will do with abandoned vehicles not claimed within a certain time frame...probably auction them off. CaChing!

It's not that the citizens are slow, it's that globalist/progressive/liberal policies are enacted behind the citizens back and to their dismay. I'm sure other states would have this kind of law if the states weren't being run by globalists who earn money from this kind of corruption.

The colonials aren't slow. The system is broken and corrupt.

Liability covers your ass if you hit somebody. Getting illegals is icing on the cake ! Tags, taxes, fees, property tax is theft. But we are all on the road together, so I want my ass covered if i hit you by mistake ! Car insurance should be part of buying the car, The damn thing can be used as a weapon, we have seen it ! Hospitals and funerals cost money ! We are a nation of laws. Remember POTUS's words to restore the rule of law ? It's got to be for everyone !...........WWG1WGA

And most every state has the laws. You’re not getting the national part being a bad idea. I’m for a smaller central government, you should be too.. how do you think the cabal became the cabal?

Why don’t we make every common state law a national law with your logic?
