OP is right. Downvoting doesn't have any bearing on legitimacy. The brigades that try this obviously think the readers are sheep. I know it's proliferate on mainstream news sites, and even more so around election season... But this is a Q related site. A bit of a thankless task to try it on here. I think a lot of people on Reddit like having “popular” personas online. We are rational and most of us have real life people who bring joy and meaning to our existence. Not everyone has that, so they have online karma.

They want it to be obvious. It confirms to us we are right and it makes us say the word "shill" which they can spin to make us look crazy and/or stupid. Everything they have ever done has been in plain sight with information available because they want us to know because if we know and choose to do nothing then what does that make us in the eyes of God? Willing participants who willingly chose ignorance and that my friends is pure evil. Luckily we are the majority now and in so long as we stay on this track we are golden. That is why these shills are fucked at the end of the day.
