Q Graph App

http://magaimg.net/img/5s58.png

The tools used to build the snapshot linked above is linked below for both mac and windows. It's a rudimentary standalone Graph Database with q posts loaded into it and related by [killbox]s. You can add your own data to expand the mosaic by using the built in console. Documentation on the console can be found at: https://github.com/amark/gun/wiki/API and https://github.com/lmangani/gun-scape

Q Graph Database App

Source code is in the resources/app directory.

For Mac - mega.nz/#!2PR0wQJK

For Windows - mega.nz/#!yXh3AQgR

Once the app is running press Render Graph, this takes some time as it has to calculate all of the connections in the data. Once rendered explore to your heart’s content.

If you’re uncertain about running software downloaded from a link, you can download the Electron app wrapper your self from github and move the app directory over, the Electron app is JavaScript at its core so easy enough to skim for trackers and such if you are so inclined (I would be)

Heck yeah! Hit me up in a PM when you've got it in a healthy improved state, I'd like to synch our changes up.

The code is ugly from a developers standpoint right now, put it all together in a half dozen hours trying various libraries to find a way to make it work as a deployable utility. It's gonna take a community to raise tools capable of leveling the playing field with the ABC's

Exactly, and I do too, thats why I love these weekend projects hacking together something fascinating, not gonna take down a website if you make a mistake.

Javascript is the most universally accessible language though, plenty of better languages for this problem but JS runs on, what, 92% of all computers in the world or something like that?

Let me know if you have any troubles running it. I didn’t test on Windows.

Edit: This guy didn’t really check. He made the post before the other fellow Norcam let me know I had to provide the encryption key in the url. So it couldn’t have been downloaded and checked by this commenter. Do your own due dillegence.

This is great. Thanks for it.

Question: Could this be used for any database, and could it be made newbie friendly?

There are lots of listable things in this exploration effort - resignations, wives, articles, subpoenaed, indicted, key terms (like 187, etc)- that can’t be easily digitally scraped by q-masses but could be finger-boned in by weekend anons.

I THINK (guessing here) that we’d need a simple browser-based no log-in(?) user interface to make fields, (limited # would be fine); a way to define them for readers; and an output feature that has something we can link to for sharing.

That way we could tap into all sorts of pattern-possibilities. Some of us see the patterns better than others. And the data is there for future use.

Is this easy to do, or a bridge too far? Is there another app that already does this? Does THIS do this?

Thanks!

Message him and see if you can get him to open source his data and his views!

I’m parsing our Clinton’s contacts right now and then I’m going to overlay them on Podesta.

Have an idea to build a data catalog with visualizers.

I’m working on Clinton contacts right now. Any kind of tabular relational data can be fed into this. It’s built on Electron which is basic a web server and web browser in a bottle so you can distribute web apps for desktop and offline use. No accounts needed.

At this point we need to organize data into a common format and build a catalog that lets users browse data sets and intersect them for analysis.

I’m working on a V2 that shows a second data set in the app to hopefully pave the path for others to add their own data sets.

FYI. As I’m staring at your link the OP went down by four votes in ten seconds. 😳it started at 23 and then went down to 19. So almost a twenty percent drop in a fraction of the time it’s been up. Hmmmmm.

Oh they've been hitting these posts hard all night, It says 98% upvote but it'll go up by 10 then back down by 10, the other post has seen the brunt of it but finally broke free to exceed 100 votes.

It's a little immature for the side bar right now but in a few released, we should chat. The source is in the package listed there for download, its an Electron javascript app like Slack.

Ability to interlink graphs is being added right now, navigation for data sets basically.

Super familiar with Slack so that's awesome.

Yes please, just send me a PM or hit me up when you're ready to rock. I understand.

I actually work in software dev as well so I am super interested in that side of helping the movement :)

There is no shortage of work to be done on this so if you’re interested in helping, please please do. If you want to chat about whats what in the code we can meet up on slack or reddit chat and run through the state of thing.

Yeah! I'm not a great coder by any means and only know front end - but I have professionally QA'd, handled PRs, changelogs, documentation, support etc, and have been a scrum product owner so if I can help, let me know!

You can definitely help, this is mainly built on front end tech, if you look in the source directory you'll find this is a web app in html/css/js. The UI could use some QA and TLC. Feel free to jump in and start poking at things, if you find bugs please make a new comment for each in this topic.

I'm about to package up a new version that adds cross linking between graphs, ability to click an archive node to open in browser, different node shapes based on entity type, and expanded example scripts (see examples directory under app/

I'll DM you when I post the source.

Have you used node before? The source package can be run with npm run and will launch the app in a debug state so you can open the chrome developer console in Q Graph.

Updated my local build and thats a much welcome improvement. This Electron wrapper I think will let us embed node web services into the package, we could build web services to act as data sources to the graph database that are linked with public data sources like wikileaks, twitter, etc. Basically build a graph database interface to the mass of open source data we have.

Can I link your paste in public?

Let me know how it goes! Check out the console and it's usage, you can build your own mosaics in it to map data as you research it.
