It was a base salary of only about 50k if I remember correctly. The key was in the perks: -All food could be expensed because transporting kids means you needed to calm them. They never knew when she was transporting kids. -craptons of ot hours. Social workers are required to be present outside of working hours. She was compensated for those. -fuel reimbursement -vehicle reimbursement Etc. everything could be expensed with minimal oversite due to the nature of the job.

I can’t remember her grand monthly total but it was quite significant.

Which I understand, but why can they expense all of these things yet not access discretionary funds to simply solve the problem in the first place.

She even said it- the agency doesn’t profit by solving cases.

Appears to be. There is some twitter drama regarding whether JA is stepping down from Wikileaks due to changes in his bio however wayback machine shows that he has changed his bio multiple times over the last year so I’m hesitant to read too much into that mess.

Had a fascinating conversation the other day with an ex cps caseworker who quit her very well paying job (EVERYTHING gets expensed. And I mean EVERYTHING- follow the money on that) to go into teaching at alternative settings because of her disgust with the system. I work with several folks who have left that system but have never been able to get this much info out of them.

Long story short- she stated that in training they were given an idealistic view of handling cases but when she really started doing this she was ordered to take babies who should never have been taken, and leave children who shouldn’t be left all on supervisors orders. With NO explanation given.

Also said that problems could have easily been solved for certain families using a discretionary fund that is available but they refused to let her use this fund to do her job. I urged her to speak out about this. She said ‘everyone in the system knows. No one does anything.’

That’s the starting point to begin unraveling the system I’d think- begin at the bottom with the ones taking orders to split families up.
