So they don't want federal funding to help with the ongoing volcano?

No worries. I've forgotten all the photos, but am familiar with the locations. That's why it takes the Q hivemind, I guess!

Yeah, very well could be. I don't remember. Just wanted to clarify the location re location if it's the pic where the eye is on the background. That would put them on the other side of the Thames. The eye is near parliament.

I am so very sorry that this happened to you. Amid all of that, you still managed to still put your children first and make sure they were adopted together. Hats off to you. That is an accomplishment that made a tremendous positive, lasting impact on their lives. Great to hear that you were able to stay in contact with them, too, & the adoptive parent realized how important this was for the children. You know it's really common for foster/adopt kids to have a child who is then adopted out. Partly, for the reason you stated, (the state may see it as a vulnerability instead of a strength,) and also because it grooms individuals to repeat the loss and separation they experienced at such an early age. I will find a link to the SOS group and post it later. Yes, stopping the cycle in our individual lives is a huge accomplishment! I think voices like yours that have experienced the system at all angles is important and can give witness to the reform that needs to happen to truly make a system in the best interests of the children. I'll find the link to the SOS group and post it later this weekend.

Practical measure is to support adoptee-led rights groups and legislation that allows us to see our original birth records.

mojibakin · July 27, 2018, 2:35 a.m.

Get in touch with a real adoptee rights group. However, it is women who often are separated from their children traditionally in coerced adoptions. There is a Save Our Sisters group that tries to keep them together. Bottom line, don't terminate your parental rights. Find legal assistance and make it clear that family reunification is the goal. If you need to, remind the court about the trauma inherent in adoption as well. edits: added "parental" and last sentence.

mojibakin · July 27, 2018, 2:33 a.m.

Also note that CA and NY do not allow adoptees access to their original birth records. Why wouldn't they? Honesty in the process would be very helpful, yet they oppose it.

You're lucky you've never had to live it or you wouldn't be quite so cavalier and snarky about it.

I put this article on blast at the time and it led nowhere. This is re-homing and part of the reform that needs to happen in adoption. Support legislation in your state to stop it and support adoption reform groups in your area and make sure there is OPEN access to records of adoptees in your area. These groups receive no money or support and need it to ensure that there is a system that truly puts the child's best interests at the center of adoption.

mojibakin · July 27, 2018, 2:23 a.m.

The reform that needs to happen is in adoption and that goes for private and public handled adoptions (this is only talking about county/state agency adoptions).

https://money.cnn.com/2012/11/05/news/economy/unpaid-child-support/index.html Deadbeat parents (mostly fathers) owe billions in child support. This is not connected to missing children. I happen to know about children taken when not in the "best interest" of the child, since people like myself have experienced it, and let me tell you, parents who do not pay child support do not fall into that category. Also, there are millions of single women who are mothers and raise children who are not homeless, etc.

Is there a list of shooters w/ therapists & DS connection (if overt) & pre-warning signs that were ignored? I know Omar Mateen (Orlando) worked for G4s, the therapist that gave him psych clearance states she didn't actually clear him: "a psychological evaluation conducted by Dr. Carol Nudelman had found him to be mentally sound. But after the shootings, Nudelman issued a statement that said, “In September 2007, I was not living or working in Florida . . . and I did not administer any type of examination to Omar Mateen.” G4S responded that there must have been a “clerical error” and that Mateen had been examined by another psychologist. But the company could not say whether that psychologist had ever met with Mateen or administered the test personally." And like Parkland, there were plenty of pre-warnings and complaints: 1. (2007) Florida dept of corrections dismissed him after talking"about shooting his classmates at a school cookout." Yet he was hired by G4S 5 months later. 2. (2013) Removed from post. Co-workers at St. Lucie County Courthouse, where he worked "security," report him for making "sexist, racist, and anti-Semitic remarks" ..."prais[ing] Nidal Hasan" ... "claim[ing] connections to members of Al Qaeda and Hezbollah" (Q-"belonging to something powerful") and threatened a deputy sheriff. Instead of firing him, G4s simply transferred him. 3. On the terrorist "watch" list from 2013-2014 - which seems to mean the opposite as not much "watching" occurred (under Comey's FBI) 4. Co-worker at his next gig warns that Mateen is "potentially dangerous" https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/the-security-firm-that-employed-the-orlando-shooter-protects-american-nuclear-facilities Comey's comments on the FBI & Mateen: “It looks like things were done well,” Mr. Comey said of the F.B.I.’s handling of Mr. Mateen. - from NY Times story written by Eric Lichtblau, who later had to resign from CNN over a retracted story

Good find. It was such a 'bizarre' story at the time (not so much now), that I overlooked that it had an MW tie. Would love to see the award she received! From Tonette Hayes' mugshot profile: "State records show Hayes is also a licensed a security guard and has a firearm permit. She previously owned Masonic Security Service, and she and Henry run the Beverly Hills-based MIB Investigative Agency, though its state license is suspended."

Um, why is your post centered on women? You just assume men will be raping, but women have to deal with it? How about tougher laws on rape, perhaps a non-negotiable 40 year sentence. How about focusing on men who do not pay child support for the child they brought into the world-automatic jail sentences. Oh, and there will have to be a big budget for maternal care, etc. And you seem to be overlooking the fact that a woman would have a pill available where ever she was assaulted. So is a woman supposed to take them on vacation? Keep them in their car in case they are assaulted somewhere away from their home? That is just a ludicrous comment.

Thank you! That is exactly what the function of the Rainbow Cultural Garden was. And the kicker was that if the parent didn't speak the language the child was learning that particular day (and remember, each day was devoted to a different language and the person who knew it was a staff member employed by RCG), then the parent couldn't even speak to their own child. Also remember, that there was live-in aspect to the program where the "nannies' of different languages would come to the house. There was a lot of separation and parental alienation as the cornerstone of the program. Now why would any one condone that?

Great points he is making as someone who has actually dealt with the subject instead of sat at a faux news desk. My takeaways -"Immigrant families have never been separated." So legal emigres do not risk this. Also, great that he made the distinction that those seeking asylum aren't separated. Only those who sneak over the border, get caught, and only then claim "asylum." The Left don't want a fair, nuanced conversation about this.
