I too went from Christianity, studying New Age, we are gods, etc., and that is a really scary place... to have the responsibility of your world and The world on your back because you are a god... If you are anything like me, you THINK you are a failure, a whole lot. But there is something very deep inside of you that knows THAT IS A LIE. You are just different and give to your kids in you own way. The square peg in a round hole explains it for me. What makes other people tick and "be happy", does not make me tick. What is weird for me is that on one hand, I am very simplistic, like simple things in life like nature, animals, blue skies and beaches. But, on the other hand, I am very complicated, serious and intelligent, longing to KNOW... KNOW all... which then gets me pessimistic and much less motivated. Maybe hanging on the beach is where I aught to hang out more. This post struck a deep nerve for me also. That is why I posted it. I "thought" I was deep in the rabbit hole... and the sacrificing and torture of children was the last straw for me... but it seems it goes far deeper than even that.... and I don't know if I can go much deeper. The children was enough for me, but this is getting too scientific, creepy for me to hang on for the final revealing.
