Minneapolis Sees New Wave of Protests After Release of Cop Involved in George Floyd Murder

It was in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where nationwide protests against police brutality and racism were again triggered, following the killing of a black man, George Floyd, by several white police officers in late May. Floyd was held to the ground for eight minutes and forty-six seconds while a policeman knelt on his neck as Floyd begged for air.

The release of the former police officer Derek Chauvin, who is primarily responsible for George Floyd's death, saw protesters again take to the streets in Minneapolis on Thursday.

Chauvin, who is charged with murder and manslaughter in the Floyd case, was released from Oak Park Heights prison on Wednesday, on $1 million bail. He is expected to arrive in court for a hearing in March 2021.

Chauvin - alongside his three colleagues - face charges after a video of him kneeling on Floyd's neck while the latter is held on the ground was posted online, prompting nationwide protests against brutality and racism by police. Several of the demonstrations saw a heavily militarized police response which resulted in violence and rioting, as well as looting, arson and casualties.

The other former officers at the scene - Thomas Lane, J. Kueng and Tou Thao - were released pending a trial after posting bail of $750,000 apiece, charged with aiding and abetting the killing.

Agudath Israel of America on Thursday filed a lawsuit in a federal court to prevent Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) from limiting how many people can gather in places of worship in certain parts of the state, The Yeshiva World reports.

The organization, which was founded in 1922 to serve the American Orthodox Jewish community, took the action after months of what it claims is Gov. Cuomo’s targeting and ostracizing of Jewish communities during the COVID-19 outbreak.

“We’ve been sued virtually every day for every action taken. We’re concentrating on reducing the virus in these hot spots and saving lives, period,” NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office.

Recent outbreaks in New York City have been mostly confined to certain areas of Queens and Brooklyn, which have been called “red zones.” Many Orthodox Jewish communities live in these red zones. For this reason, Gov. Cuomo earlier this week stated that he might ban large gatherings at houses of worship, which has been met by large Jewish protests and condemnation from Jewish political and religious leaders.

Gov. Cuomo’s office responded to SaraACarter.com and told this reporter: “We’ve been sued virtually every day for every action taken. We’re concentrating on reducing the virus in these hot spots and saving lives, period.”

The governor’s executive order comes consequentially as the Jewish community commemorates their high, holy days. In light of that, the lawsuit claims that the order is “depriving them of their religious worship and holiday observance.”

Furthermore, the lawsuit argues that the order is unconstitutional for discriminating against individuals practicing their religion while secular events comparable in size and social distancing are allowed. Additionally, they argue that, while the order targets all religions, because the restrictions apply to these “red zones” where many Jewish people live, it disproportionately targets them and their faith.

According to the Yeshiva World article, the fact that Orthodox Jews cannot drive on certain holidays essentially prevents them from attending services at synagogues outside the red zones.

Agudath Israel of America was not available for immediate comment. This story will be updated if and when a comment is received.

A citizen on Wednesday morning found stolen mail, including election ballots, discarded in two Southern California desert towns.

According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, a citizen told them that they had found discarded incoming mail in Joshua Tree and Twentynine Palms.

The mail was stolen from a cluster of mailboxes, according to authorities.

No arrests have been made and law enforcement officials believe the suspects were targeting mail for information to commit identity theft.

KESQ reported that the mail was returned back to the postmaster for re-delivery.

CBS Los Angeles reported:

A citizen told San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies with the Morongo Basin Station that they had found the discarded incoming mail, including voter ballots, in the 6500 block of Winters Road in Joshua Tree. More discarded mail was found in the 6500 block of Encelia Avenue in neighboring Twentynine Palms.

The recovered mail was apparently stolen from a cluster of mailboxes within the 56200 block of Reche Road in Landers, north of Joshua Tree, sheriff’s officials said. An investigation determined voter ballots were not being targeted, just incoming mail.

Vote-by-mail ballots are being sent out to homes this week, and the sheriff’s department is urging voters to monitor their mailboxes due to the upcoming election.

Vote in person if you want your vote to count.

A New Jersey mail carrier was arrested and charged for dumping mail, including election ballots, the US Attorney’s office in the District of New Jersey announced Wednesday.

Earlier this week, Virginia election officials put out a statement warning the public that ballots may have been stolen when 6 mailboxes were broken into over the weekend.

Dozens arrested as France busts major child porn network, including men suspected of sexually assaulting kids on camera

French police have arrested 61 people allegedly involved in a vast child pornography network. Some of the suspects are believed to have filmed their sexual assault of minors, investigators said.

The major sting was announced by Eric Berot, head of one of the divisions within France’s sub-directorate for battling organized crime, on Thursday. The arrests were made this week during a large operation that spanned 30 of France’s regions.

So far, 61 suspects have been detained. Several suspects had been working in positions that facilitated access to children – they include teachers, religious leaders and even city hall officials.

“These arrests include everyone – all trades, all social classes, from merchants to managers, from white collar to blue collar, of all ages, from 28 to 75 years old, from all family situations, single people, those in a couple, with or without children,” Berot stated.

At least 13 of those arrested have a previous criminal record and were on the national sex offender register. The suspects are predominantly male, with only one woman, suspected of watching the illicit videos alongside her partner, among those taken into custody. The demand for child pornography in France has grown amid the anti-coronavirus lockdown, Berot noted.

The arrests came after a months-long investigation into a large group that produced and distributed child porn online through peer-to-peer networks. The police have seized a large quantity of computers, and hard and USB drives, as well as other electronic devices. Investigators are still digging through the data, Berot said.

At least three of the suspects are believed to have been personally involved in raping minors on camera. One of the suspects, said to be a computer scientist, has admitted to having regularly assaulted his own 14-year-old daughter since she was nine, Berot revealed. Officers discovered an enormous cache of more than 110,000 illicit images and some 2,000 child pornography videos on his computer.

European Parliament President Sassoli self-isolating after member of his staff tests positive for Covid-19

The president of the European Parliament, David Sassoli, announced on Thursday he would self-isolate after contact with a Covid-19 infected person.

“I was recently in contact with a member of my staff who today tested positive for Covid-19,” Sassoli tweeted. “In accordance with the rules, I’ll be self-isolating for the required period to carry out the necessary checks.”

The EU Parliament head said he feels fine and has “no symptoms.”

Sassoli has already put himself into quarantine once – back in March, after spending a weekend in Italy, where the government had placed the entire country under lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus infections. The parliament chief said at the time that he planned to work from his home in Brussels “as a precaution” in compliance with the health protocol.

He is not the only EU leader who had to self-isolate lately. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Monday she was self-isolating after attending a state council meeting in Portugal where a participant later tested positive for Covid-19.

Although Von der Leyen canceled a scheduled trip to Greece, she said she would leave quarantine on Tuesday, despite the EU recommendation of 14 days of self-isolation following suspected contact with a positive case. The commission head, who has twice tested negative for the virus, has instead followed Belgium’s rules, which have been softened compared to EU guidelines.

EU Council President Charles Michel also postponed a scheduled EU summit in September, after contact with a member of his security team who later tested positive for the coronavirus.

Nancy Pelosi’s father Thomas D’Alesandro Jr. allegedly was a “constant companion” of notorious mobster Benjamin “Benny Trotta” Magliano and other underworld figures during his political years in Baltimore, MD. D’Alesandro was a Congressman for five terms from 1938 to 1947, and Baltimore mayor for three terms from 1947 to 1959. Magliano was identified by the FBI as one of Baltimore’s “top hoodlums,” and he widely was acknowledged as the representative for New York’s Frankie Carbo who made his bones with Murder, Inc. and later became a made guy in the Lucchese family. The allegations are included in D’Alesandro’s recently-released FBI files which Friends of Ours has obtained pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act.

Of course, while in Congress D’Alesandro sat on the appropriations committee and was a friend of Director J. Edgar Hoover. For example, an FBI memo dated March 27, 1946 from E. G. Fitch to D. M. Ladd provides:

Supervisor Orrin H. Bartlett advised me that while talking to Congressman Thomas D’Alesandro, Jr. (D., Md.) on March 26, 1946, the Congressman advised Agent Bartlett he was running for Congress again in the fall 1946 election and that in 1947 he was running for the office of Mayor of Baltimore. Congressman D’Alesandro advised Agent Bartlett that since he had been on the Appropriations Committee, he has been back of the Director and the Bureau one hundred percent, and further, that he was vitally interested in and completely satisfied with the results of the Bureau’s work.

The FBI inquiry was a perfunctory exercise with little digging which vainly attempted to address two decades of allegations in less than two months, and of course some witnesses had lost their memories and others had died or otherwise disappeared.

For example, Peter Galiano, the convicted boxer involved with Magliano’s draft-dodging scheme who told Special Agent James V. Sullivan in January 1947 that D’Alesandro was a “constant companion” of both Magliano and Cataneo, more than a decade later when pressed by the FBI said on February 8, 1961 his statement was “only rumor and hearsay,” and “he could not recall who gave him this information or whether or not there was any truth to these allegations.” However, there was independent corroboration for at least some of Galiano’s earlier allegations. The FBI notes that “during the investigation” of the Selective Service fraud case “SA JAMES V. As far as how the 25th Amendement works here is the breakdown:

Section 1 - In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President. Section 1 clarifies that the vice president becomes president, instead of "assuming" the powers and duties of the presidency.

Section 2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress. Section 2 addressed the absence in the Constitution of a mechanism for filling a vacancy in the office of vice president.

Section 3. Whenever the President transmits to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President. Section 3 allows the president to voluntarily transfer his authority to the vice president. The president regains his powers and duties when he declares in writing that he is again ready to discharge them.

HERE NEXT IS THE PART OF THE 25TH THE D'S PUBLICIZED/WANTED TO USE AGAINST POTUS - THIS:

Section 4. Law under this clause have been around since 1792 in more or less the same form. A significant amendment was passed in 1947 and has remained more or less intact since.

Under this law, as most anons already know, after the VP the primary succession is House Speaker, President of the Senate, then Secretarty of State. This seems perfectly natural but it really is not. Consider the current situation - if POTUS and Pence are gone then is it right that Nancy Pelosi be made President? The same problem would occur if the President of the Senate of the opposing party became President. This points out a major flaw in the law Congress passed.

The legal question is - are House and Senate "officers" as contemplated by the Constitution? Most legal scholars say they are NOT, pointing out that the term "Officer" refers to an "Officer of the United States," a legal term that excludes members of Congress. Instead, officers of the USA are high level executives appointed by POTUS with the advice and consent of the Senate - in other words - CABINET HEADS.

Just as compelling is the Incompatibility Clause of the Constitution (Article I, Section 6, Clause 2)—which bars officials in the federal government's executive branch from simultaneously serving in either the U.S. House or Senate.

One can see the various problems which could occur when Members of Congress are tasked to switch the the role of Cheif Executive, and perhaps go back if the POTUS is reinstated.

While it may be pointed out that the very first Succession Act of 1792 DID name the President of the Seante and House Speaker as succesors, the critical difference was that the law also called for a special election within 60 days to fill the position, so that the Member of Congress would be a mere placeholder.

Alas - with the urging of Harry Truman, Congress passed the law with no special election - and the issue has never been litigated in SCOTUS - it certainly could in the future. If so, in the event POTUS and VP were out, and Members of Congress are prohibited under a SCOTUS ruling, the POMPEO would be the man - TRUST KANSAS!!!!

D’Alesandro also was accused by highly-credible police officers of providing protection to Baltimore hoodlums. For example, “in 1945, Captain JOHN R. ROLLMAN, Western District, Baltimore Police Department, Baltimore, Maryland, furnished information to the Baltimore Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation concerning one CHARLES F. CAMMARATA, who until a short time previously had operated a tavern at 641 West Baltimore Street.” According to Captain Rollman “CAMMARATA had gotten away with all sorts of criminal activities in the Western District due to the protection of Maryland United States Representative THOMAS D’ALESANDRO,” and “CAMMARATA was alleged to be gambling in various crap and card games in Baltimore.” Once again, the FBI never did anything about these allegations at the time they were made, and in 1961 when the G-men finally got around to taking a look into them Captain Rollman since had died and “CAMMARATA’s current whereabouts are unknown.” A March 15, 1961 FBI memo reports that Cammarata may have been last seen in Havana, Cuba in the mid-1950s where he allegedly “had some connection with Clark’s Tropicana Night Club,” and may now be residing in Miami, FL where he “reportedly owned apartment houses”; however, perhaps content to let sleeping dogs lie, the FBI never followed up on these tips in an attempt to reach Cammarata about the alleged protection he received from D’Alesandro while operating in Baltimore in the 1940s.

Another serious allegation against D’Alesandro was that he had received kickbacks from building developer Dominic Piracci on city contracts. Piracci’s account ledger included several payments totaling $11,000 to D’Alesandro which he later erased to keep the information from investigators. The developer later explained that the payments were legitimate loans to Mrs. D’Alesandro to finance her cosmetics business which since had been fully repaid, and he doctored the documents only “to save” the D’Alesandro family “from embarrassment and from further trouble” given a criminal investigation into his business practices. In April 1954 Piracci “was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the city of $42,996 in connection with the construction of an off-street parking garage in Baltimore,” and also found guilty for “obstruction of justice in that he submitted to a Baltimore City Grand Jury a ‘completely phony’ ledger to conceal $35,000 in weekly payments to the Peoples Holding Corporation” whose officers “were also charged with conspiracy to defraud Baltimore City in an off-street parking garage contract.” Mrs. D’Alesandro testified on Piracci’s behalf at his criminal trial, and although she insisted the “loans” from Piracci were repaid there was no documentary evidence to corroborate that testimony. The supposed repayments were made in cash rather than by check. Mrs. D’Alesandro’s testimony may have saved her husband’s sorry ass from criminal liability but could not save his then-bid to become Maryland’s governor. The D’Alesandro’s son Thomas III later married Piracci’s daughter Margaret.

The Piracci trial at which Mrs. D’Alesandro testified immediately was followed by a child gang rape trial against the Mayor’s 20-yearold son Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro. The FBI describes the ugly case in a January 30, 1961 memo as follows:

During the summer of 1953, Mayor D’Alesandro’s son, Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro, aged twenty, was one of fourteen youths charged with having committed rape or perverted practices on two girls, aged eleven and thirteen, during July of that year. It was reported that Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro was the only one of twelve of those tried at that time who was successful in obtaining an acquittal. Following this acquittal, a Baltimore, Maryland, Grand Jury indicted Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro on charges of having committed perjury in that he had lied during the afore-mentioned trial on charges of rape. In addition, James H. Pollack, Baltimore City political boss, was reportedly also indicted on the charge of obstruction of justice in that he had attempted to influence testimony of several of the youthful defendants who had been tried with Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro. It was reported that Franklin Roosevelt D’Alesandro was tried on the above charge of perjury at Salisbury, Maryland, during 1954, following a change of venue, and was found not guilty.
