Report reveals 'yet another federal criminal investigation' into Hunter Biden after Joe Biden is confronted

 

As the mainstream media are being denounced for squashing the Hunter Biden story before the election, Fox News reported Friday on the existence of "yet another federal criminal investigation" into Hunter Biden.

 

"We have just received word tonight of yet another federal criminal investigation into the Biden family that appears to be focused specifically on Hunter Biden's business dealings with China and his relationship with Burisma Holdings in Ukraine," Fox News host Martha MacCallum explained.

 

She added, "This is now the fourth federal investigation that has been reported in recent days."

 

"It raises a lot of questions about what was going on with Hunter Biden, with his uncle Jim [Biden], and potentially their U.S. and foreign business deals. Who was involved in them? What exactly were they selling? And why, in one instance, was a diamond given to Hunter Biden in return? Where did all the money go? And did they ever compromise themselves? Does China have anything they could hold over the Biden family?" MacCallum went on to say.

 

The New York Times reported late Friday that Pittsburgh-based U.S. Attorney Scott Brady began investigating Hunter Biden earlier this year upon the direction of Attorney General William Barr.

 

Details were few, aside from the Times reporting that the investigation was spurred by material uncovered by Rudy Giuliani and that the investigation was similar to a criminal probe into Hunter Biden that was concurrently taking place in Delaware.

 

From the Times:

 

As federal investigators in Delaware were examining the finances of Hunter Biden during his father's campaign for president, a similar inquiry ramped up this year in Pittsburgh, fueled by materials delivered by President Trump's personal lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani. Attorney General William P. Barr had asked the top federal prosecutor in Pittsburgh, Scott W. Brady, to accept and vet any information that Mr. Giuliani had on the Biden family, including Hunter Biden. Mr. Brady hosted Mr. Giuliani for a nearly four-hour meeting in late January to discuss his materials.

 

The development comes just two days after Hunter Biden publicly revealed that he is under federal investigation by authorities in Delaware.

 

"I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs. I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors," Hunter Biden said in a statement, which was released by the Biden-Harris transition team.

The former vice president was confronted on Friday about his son for the first time since news broke about the Delaware federal investigation.

 

"Did Hunter Biden commit a crime? Have you spoken to your son, Mr. President-elect?" a reporter asked Biden following a press conference.

 

Biden did not address the question directly, only responding, "I'm proud of my son."

What Significance Do Numbers Have in the Bible?

 

Often, when we read Scripture, we may think some numbers are arbitrarily placed in the text. We may think Jacob just happened to have 12 sons (Genesis 49), for instance.

 

But numbers in Hebrew culture tended to have a deeper meaning than what we know about numbers today. In a previous article, I covered the number three and how, in Hebraic culture, it tended to mean wholeness and completeness.

 

Although in most instances in the Bible, the numbers have a literal and symbolic interpretation (Jacob didn’t metaphorically have 12 sons), sometimes numbers may have just a symbolic meaning. Six days—seven including the rest day—may have been literal in terms of creation, or merely symbolic (Genesis 1). Or, as mentioned in this article, the number of saved souls in heaven will likely be more than 144,000 (Revelation 7), but merely means a 12 times the cube of ten—a quotient of perfection.

 

Numbers in the Bible can clue readers into a deeper meaning in the text; but we have to make sure the context of the passage aligns with the typical symbolism attributed to the number. We have to exercise caution when trying to dig up the meaning of numbers in every case in Scripture. Sometimes Seth just lived to be 912 years old (Genesis 5:8) and there may have been no significant reason behind that specific number of years on this earth.

 

But in regards to popular numbers in the Bible such as three, 12, 40, etc., we can often find the symbolism within that passage.

California asked to join the Department of Justice's antitrust lawsuit against Google on Friday, making the state's attorney general the first Democrat to openly support the litigation.

 

The department in October accused the $1 trillion California-based company, one of the state's largest businesses, of illegally using its market muscle to hobble rivals.

 

It was joined by 11 other state attorneys general - all Republicans - when it was filed.

 

'California is not making substantive changes to the complaint. In particular, California is not seeking to add any new facts or claims,' Attorney General Xavier Becerra said in the filing.

 

California joining the lawsuit will not cause any delay, he said, but did not disclose why the state has chosen to join now.

 

Becerra claimed that Google's dominance over the market has left 'consumers and small businesses with little choice when it comes to internet search engines'.

 

'Google's anticompetitive behavior has unlawfully maintained the company´s monopoly on internet search and search-based advertising at the expense of consumers,' he said.

 

'This lawsuit paves the way for search engine innovation with greater regard for privacy and data protection.'

 

The suit was filed by the outgoing Trump administration after years of concern on both sides of the aisle about how much power the company had.

 

Google is being investigated for its dominance of search and advertising, in particular.

 

The suit alleges that Google has for years operated unlawfully to control the internet and squash competitors, depriving the market of competition and consumers of innovation and choice.

 

California's decision to join marks a blow to the company which has headquarters based in Mountain Valley.

 

Yet it has broadly denied wrongdoing in response to the government's lawsuit and other probes, and the company has said that its search engine and other products are dominant because consumers prefer them.

 

'People use Google because they choose to, not because they're forced to, or because they can't find alternatives,' a Google spokeswoman said on Friday. 'We're confident in our position and we'll continue to make our case in court.'

 

When the suit was first filed, Google's SVP of Global Affairs, Kent Walker, called it 'deeply flawed'.

President Donald Trump’s legal team is planning on filing retooled lawsuits, his lawyer said Saturday.

 

“We move immediately, seamlessly, to plan B, which is to bring lawsuits now in each one of the states. We had them ready. They’re just a version of the one that was brought in the Supreme Court. So last night, the president made the decision,” Rudy Giuliani said during an appearance on “War Room: Pandemic.”

 

Texas filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court against Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, and Michigan, alleging the elections there were run contrary to the Constitution. The nation’s top court rejected the suit late Friday.

 

Trump’s team is going to file suits or has already filed in the four states as well as Arizona and Nevada. The suits will incorporate allegations in the complaint filed by Texas.

 

“If the state doesn’t have standing, surely the president of the United States has standing. And certainly the electors in the states have standing. So they will be bringing those very cases right in those courts, starting today,” Giuliani said. “And let’s see what excuse they can try to use to avoid having a hearing on that.”

 

Courts have been using the matter of standing to dodge facing the facts, he alleged, adding, “Nobody wants to face the reality that this election was stolen.”

 

“This is outrageous what they’re doing. The American people should have the benefit of hearing these facts … The facts have been kept from them,” he continued.

 

“Not a single court decision has had a hearing yet. They haven’t heard from a single witness. They haven’t looked at a single tape. They haven’t listened to a single recording. There are thousands of them. They haven’t even bothered to look at the tape in Atlanta, Georgia, which is dispositive. It shows an ongoing voter theft of 30,000 votes, enough to change the election.”

 

Dozens of election-related lawsuits filed by Trump and others have been rejected in courts. Some were appealed. Other suits are still being decided.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on Thursday pledged an additional $250million in the fight against COVID-19 by funding the development of low-cost and easier to deliver treatments and vaccines.

 

The announcement was made just days after Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates expressed confidence that thanks to the anticipated rollout of at least two promising vaccines, the United States could be returning 'back to normal' by next spring.

 

As of Friday afternoon, the coronavirus pandemic has claimed 1.59million lives worldwide, including more than 292,000 in the United States.

 

The Gates Foundation's latest contribution, its largest to date, comes on top of the $70million funding that it added in November. This brings the organization's total commitments to the global pandemic response to $1.75billion, the foundation said.

 

'Whether (the world) gets better for everyone depends on the actions of the world's leaders and their commitment to deliver tests, treatments and vaccines to the people who need them,' said Melinda Gates, co-chair of the Gates Foundation.

 

The contribution will also support the delivery of tests and vaccines in low- and middle-income countries, the foundation added.

 

In an interview with Savannah Guthrie on NBC's Today Show last week, Bill Gates, 65, warned that the situation could get worse before it gets better, and urged people to brace for a dark COVID winter.

 

'The next four or five months actually look pretty grim, unless we can really double down on our behavior,' Gates said.

 

 

He stressed that 'the most impactful thing' that

 

people can do at this time to help stop the spread of the virus is to wear masks and avoid being around large groups of people.

 

Gates sounded optimistic when discussing some of the antibody treatments and 'amazing vaccines' that have been developed and tested over the past few months.

 

'By the spring, those numbers [of vaccinated people] will be big enough that, certainly in the United States, it’ll start to change for us dramatically, and we’ll be headed headed back to normal,' he predicted.

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) has called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to bar 126 GOP representatives from the House, arguing that their support for the failed, baseless Texas lawsuit seeking to hijack the presidential election violated the Constitution.

 

The Texas suit, supported by 17 other state attorneys general, was rejected Friday by the U.S. Supreme Court. President Donald Trump had attempted to join the self-serving suit, which sought to jettison votes in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, whose voters chose President-elect Joe Biden.

 

Pascrell accused the House members who signed an amicus brief supporting the action — including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) — of violating the Constitution by seeking to nullify Americans’ votes and instead choose a “dictator.” He cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, enacted after the Civil War and designed to keep traitors out of government.

 

The section prohibits anyone who had gone to war against the union or given aid and comfort to the nation’s enemies from running for federal or state office.

Senate Passes $740 Billion NDAA in Veto-Proof Majority

 

The massive bill includes amendments to block troop drawdowns in Afghanistan and Germany

 

On Friday, the Senate passed the $740 billion 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in a veto-proof majority. The vote came after Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) tried to delay the massive spending bill over an amendment that seeks to block troops drawdowns from Afghanistan.

 

The final tally for the vote was 84 to 13, well over the two-thirds majority needed to override a presidential veto. President Trump has threatened to veto the NDAA for a few reasons, mainly because it does not include an amendment to repeal Section 230, a law that gives tech platforms immunity from liability over the content published by third party users.

 

The Afghanistan amendment on the bill would block funds to bring troops home from Afghanistan until the Pentagon, State Department, and the DNI submit a report to Congress about how the drawdown would affect US security.

 

The assessment would be required as soon as the NDAA becomes law. Assessments would also be required when troop numbers go below 4,000, and again at 2,000. The Trump administration is currently carrying out a plan to bring numbers down to 2,500 by January 15th.

 

Senator Paul warned the amendment would set “a very dangerous precedent for limiting a President’s power to end war.”

 

The NDAA also includes an amendment to block a planned troop drawdown from Germany. The Trump administration ordered the Pentagon to take about 12,000 troops out of Germany of the approximately 34,500 stationed there.

 

The NDAA amendment would not allow the Pentagon to bring troops out of Germany until 120 days after the secretary of defense submitted an analysis to Congress on how the drawdown would impact US national security.

 

On Tuesday, the NDAA passed through the House, also with a veto-proof majority. If President Trump goes ahead with the veto, both chambers will likely override it unless some Republicans change their votes to align with the president.

Biden appointments give Newsom chance to reshape California politics

 

President-elect Joe Biden has tapped several California officials for key roles in his administration, handing Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) the opportunity to reshape the state’s political hierarchy with his choices for their replacements.

 

But heavy is the head that wears the Golden State crown, and allies and observers say no possible choice from the first-term governor will please everyone.

 

Newsom will have the opportunity to appoint someone to fill Vice President-elect Kamala Harris’s seat in the U.S. Senate, and he will get to pick the state’s next attorney general if the incumbent, Xavier Becerra (D), is confirmed as Biden's pick to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. Newsom may even get a third vacancy to fill if, as many expect, he chooses Secretary of State Alex Padilla (D) to replace Harris.

 

In a state where Democrats hold all levers of government, the appointments could reshuffle the political order and define Newsom’s legacy.

 

“He’s going to establish the power structure of California for the next 20-30 years," said Fabian Nunez, a former speaker of the California State Assembly.

 

But Newsom, who is said to harbor ambitions of his own beyond Sacramento, faces pitfalls and obstacles with the choices. He is already under pressure from activists and advocacy groups over whom to appoint to Harris’s seat. More than 200 community leaders and California residents signed a letter from Women’s Foundation California urging Newsom to replace Harris with a Black woman, citing the lack of women of color in the Senate.

 

The California Legislative Black Caucus and Black Lives Matter have also urged Newsom to pick a Black woman, with Reps. Karen Bass (D-Calif.) and Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) among the names mentioned.

 

Progressives have pushed Newsom to tap Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) for the seat, while other lawmakers have urged the governor to appoint a Latino or someone from the LGBT community.

 

“Whether it’s regional tension or different constituencies or identities, someone’s got to lose,” said state Sen. Henry Stern (D), a Newsom ally. “It’s a very competitive space in California.”

Former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovich cautioned John McCain's think tank in 2017 not to accept funding from the Ukrainian gas firm that had hired Hunter Biden because State officials considered Burisma Holdings and its founder to be corrupt, according to newly released memos.

 

During impeachment hearings last year, Yovanovitch, a key witness for Democrats, testified to Congress that she knew little about Burisma beyond what she'd gleaned from her pre-confirmation State Department briefing in summer 2016 and press reports. "It just wasn't a big deal," she declared under oath on Oct. 11, 2019.

 

Two years earlier, though, she had enough knowledge to warn a McCain Institute official not to become entangled with Burisma.

 

At the time, Burisma wanted to sponsor a two-week training seminar at the McCain Institute for prosecutors from the very Ukraine Prosecutor General's Office that Yovanovitch's team believed had been bribed to drop corruption investigations against the gas firm back in 2014 and 2016.

 

"There would be raised eyebrows in Kyiv over the irony of Burisma training prosecutors," Yovanovitch wrote in advising a McCain Institute official to avoid taking the Burisma money.

The emails from fall 2017 between the American ambassador and McCain Institute officials — obtained by the conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch — are the latest evidence extracted by Freedom of Information Act lawsuits showing Yovanovitch had more extensive contact and knowledge about the controversial Ukrainian gas company than she let on during her impeachment testimony.

 

Yovanovitch, a respected career diplomat fired by President Trump in 2019, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

 

Memos obtained by Just the News earlier this year show Yovanovitch met directly with an American lawyer working for Burisma in December 2016, received a detailed letter from Burisma's criminal defense attorney and got multiple briefings and emails about the company from her top deputy George Kent, including one suggesting Burisma may have paid a bribe to Ukrainian prosecutors in the form of cheap gas just before its case was settled in late 2016. Burisma was never charged and has always denied wrongdoing.

 

Yovanovitch even reported the alleged bribe to her superior at the State Department.

Republican Sen. Josh Hawley on Thursday unveiled a plan for another round of stimulus checks for millions of Americans amid stalled talks.

 

The Missouri senator modeled the new legislation after March’s CARES Act. His plan would provide $1,200 for individuals, $2,400 for couples and $500 for children, CNBC reported.

 

“Americans need direct payments now. Families are struggling. Unemployment claims are rising and food lines are growing. It's time Congress finally acts. Direct payments should be at the center of any Covid relief legislation that Congress passes,” Hawley said in a press release.

 

Hawley has been a vocal advocate for stimulus checks among GOP lawmakers. On Dec. 7, he urged President Donald Trump to veto the $908 billion bipartisan relief bill after it excluded provisions for more $1,200 personal checks, Politico reported.

 

“I said, ‘I think it’s vital that any relief include direct payments, and I’m not gonna vote for it if it doesn’t.’ And I also urged him to veto any bill that did not have direct payments in it,” he said during an interview.

 

The Missouri senator’s economic relief bill also included $300 billion federal aid for small businesses, COVID-19 testing, vaccine distribution, and relief for schools and the transportation sector.

 

However, the plan does not include economic aid to the restaurant industry. It also excludes an extension of paid family and medical leave.

And there is no doubt that driving the American republic to the point of near-death with election chicanery on a breathtaking scale is indeed a significant achievement, but amid all the excitement, it was barely noticed that President Trump had delivered yet another rebuke to the massively failed foreign policy establishment that is poised to get back in the saddle and start failing some more, by engineering peace between Israel and another Arab state, Morocco.

 

Trump tweeted Thursday: “Another HISTORIC breakthrough today! Our two GREAT friends Israel and the Kingdom of Morocco have agreed to full diplomatic relations – a massive breakthrough for peace in the Middle East!” The Morocco deal, like the previous one between Israel and Sudan, seems to be a straightforward bargain. Trump also tweeted Friday: “Today, I signed a proclamation recognizing Moroccan sovereignty over the Western Sahara. Morocco’s serious, credible, and realistic autonomy proposal is the ONLY basis for a just and lasting solution for enduring peace and prosperity!” So Morocco gets recognition of its sovereignty over the Western Sahara, and the world gets another step toward peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors.

 

That makes four agreements between Israel and Arab nations, something John Kerry confidently stated was not even remotely possible. Isn’t it great that Kerry is about to go back to work for the Person of the Year (what pronouns does that beast with two backs use?) and start showing us how it’s done again?

 

No one thought it could be done, except, of course, Donald Trump. Back in September, when Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates signed their deals with Israel, Trump stated: “We’re here this afternoon to change the course of history. After decades of division and conflict we mark the dawn of a new Middle East.” This was accurate. These “Abraham Accords” have already changed the entire landscape of the Middle East as, for the first time in decades, pragmatic considerations are taking precedence over the fixed ideas that have guided the foreign policy stances of all the Muslim and Arab countries regarding Israel.

 

Although this aspect of the conflict has been little noted and is still routinely ignored by foreign policy analysts, the Muslim world’s opposition to Israel has not been based upon conflicting claims for land or anything else, but upon core principles of the Islamic religion. As The Palestinian Delusion: The Catastrophic History of the Middle East Peace Process shows, the Qur’an commands Muslims to “drive them out from where they drove you out” (2:191). Even though it is a historical fiction that Israel actually drove Muslim Arabs out, this claim is a staple of pro-Palestinian propaganda, and hence it is a divine imperative, no more negotiable than the Ten Commandments are for Jews and Christians, that Muslims must destroy Israel and “drive out” the Israelis.
