Rudy Giuliani slams raid on apartment as 'out of control,' says feds trying to 'frame' him

Giuliani fights allegations he violated Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA)

EXCLUSIVE: Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani denied allegations that he violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act, telling Fox News on Monday that federal investigators are "trying to frame" him.

Federal investigators seized electronic devices from Giuliani's New York City apartment last week after executing a search warrant as part of a federal probe into whether he violated the law by lobbying the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials in 2019.

Giuliani has served as former President Trump's personal attorney on a number of high-profile matters.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Giuliani described the raid on his apartment as "out of control."

"At about 6 a.m., there was a banging on my door– a very loud banging, and outside there was a group of an endless number of FBI agents," Giuliani told Fox News.

"Usually a person who has been a former assistant U.S. attorney, a U.S. attorney, a mayor, the associate attorney general, usually they receive a subpoena – not have their home raided," Giuliani said.

"The only lawyers they raid are lawyers for Donald Trump. I can't think of another lawyer that has been raided other than lawyers for Trump," he continued. "Trump is in a special category because he doesn't have constitutional rights."

He continued, "They showed me a warrant that sought the electronics in my apartment and purported to be about an alleged violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, FARA, for failure to file as a foreign agent on behalf of an unnamed Ukrainian official." Giuliani told Fox News he "never did this" and was "shocked" because he had been offering to discuss the allegations with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

STORY TIME

The Animality virus, also known as the A-Virus, is a man-made mutagenic contagion in the Resident Evil franchise and the central focus of the CGI animated film Resident Evil: Vendetta. This virus was engineered by bioterrorist Glenn Arias as the instrument of his plan to take revenge on humanity for the death of his wife.

History

The A-Virus was developed by Glenn Arias in association with the remnants of the criminal cult Los Illuminados. With it, Arias planned to bring about the end of the human race as atonement for its sins. Three strains of Animality were developed: a Latent strain to be introduced into drinking water, a Trigger strain released in gas form, and a Vaccine that could protect subjects from infection or cure those who had become infected.

Through his dummy company A-GUA Industries Ltd., Arias was able to contaminate the Great Lakes with the Latent A-Virus strain. The contaminated lake waters would be bottled and sold as drinking water across the United States, infecting much of the population. For the first major step in his plan, Arias arranged for a large-scale viral outbreak in New York City, sending multiple tanker trucks containing the airborne Trigger strain to key locations throughout the city. When the gas was released, anyone exposed carrying the Latent strain would mutate into zombie-like creatures and would attack and feed on any uninfected persons in their path. Arias and his agents had been administered the A-Virus Vaccine, so the zombies would ignore them and only target those without the Vaccine.

Arias' scheme was stopped dead in its tracks before New York would fall. The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance dispatched its elite Silver Dagger unit under the command of Captain Chris Redfield and were aided by DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy. Together, they destroyed the tankers dispersing the Trigger gas, minimising the number of infected in the city. After assaulting Arias' base of operations and killing the madman, the BSAA obtained the Vaccine strain and dispersed it across New York, curing the zombified victims and restoring them to normal.

The Animality Virus refers to three individual viral strains that work in tandem as a biological weapon: the Latent and Trigger Viruses as well as the Vaccine strain.

Iran Teases Attack on US Capitol Building as Biden Admin Prepares To Lift Sanctions

Iran released a provocative new video over the weekend that depicts its military forces blowing up the United States Capitol building, a threat that comes as the Biden administration inches closer to providing Tehran with billions of dollars in economic sanctions relief.

The video debuted Sunday on Iranian state-controlled television before Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei delivered remarks, in which he praised the country’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, the paramilitary force that has killed Americans, and celebrated IRGC leader Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a drone strike by the former Trump administration.

In the video clip, armed IRGC forces are seen marching before the U.S. Capitol’s famous dome explodes. It also shows Iranian forces marching on Jerusalem.

The video and Khamenei’s remarks come as the Biden administration engages in diplomacy with Iran aimed at inking a revamped nuclear deal. The administration is reportedly prepared to lift crippling sanctions on Iran’s banks, diplomats, and oil trade, signaling that Washington is desperate to entice Iran into accepting a deal that would only partially unwind its growing nuclear program.

Republicans in Congress accuse the Biden administration of relieving pressure on Iran at a time when it could topple the hardline regime and empower democratic reformers in the country. They also view the latest IRGC video as a sign that Iran’s regime will never moderate its anti-American and anti-Western rhetoric.

"Last week, Iran’s chief diplomat allegedly admitted the IRGC calls the shots in Tehran. Now, Iran releases a fake video of the IRGC blowing up our Capitol," Sen. Pat Toomey (R., Pa.) tweeted in response to the video. "The Biden [administration’s] priority should be ensuring Iran cannot carry out such an attack, not capitulating by removing sanctions."

Toomey’s remarks are bolstered by a recently leaked video of Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif admitting in a private conversation that his government will never find common ground with America or abandon its radical views.

"I believe Iran and the U.S. will never be friends as long as the Islamic Republic preserves its identity," Zarif said on the tape, as the Washington Free Beacon first reported last week. "Never will our issues with America be resolved."

Khamenei, in his weekend address to the country, bolstered Zarif’s remarks by praising the IRGC’s ongoing operations in the region, which have targeted U.S. and Western forces. Khamenei vowed to continue fueling wars across the Middle East.

"The Americans have been for years deeply saddened by the Islamic Republic’s influence [in the region], and they were angry with General Soleimani for this reason and martyred him for this reason," the leader said.

Iranian officials also dismissed reports over the weekend of an imminent prisoner swap with the United States. Regional news outlets claimed the United States agreed to pay Iran $7 billion in exchange for the release of several American hostages. Both countries denied the report on Sunday.

"This news is not confirmed," Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, said on Monday.

"Reports that a prisoner swap deal has been reached are not true," said State Department spokesman Ned Price, who would not comment on whether the United States is prepared to pay cash as part of any future deal.

Are They Purposely Trying To Make The Streets Of America “Abnormally Violent” In The Summer Of 2021?

Have you noticed that the corporate media has been repeatedly using the word “violent” to describe what the summer of 2021 is going to be like? Many Americans believed that once Joe Biden was in the White House that all of the civil unrest that we have been witnessing would magically disappear and that violent crime rates would go back to normal. Of course neither of those things has happened. We continue to see civil unrest erupt in major U.S. cities such as Portland, and murder rates are even higher in 2021 than they were in 2020. This is a fact that was highlighted in a recent Axios article entitled “It’s set to be a hot, violent summer”…

A sample of 37 cities with data available for the first three months of 2021 collected by the crime analyst Jeff Asher indicates murders are up 18% over the same period in 2020.

The continued increase comes after a year in which major U.S. cities experienced a 33% rise in homicides, and 63 of the 66 largest police jurisdictions saw an increase in at least one category of violent crime, according to a report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association.

In this instance, Axios is right on the money.

Murder rates were way, way up all over the nation last year, and this year murder rates are shooting even higher.

It is also true that we tend to see a spike in violence over the summer, and one expert that was interviewed by Axios is warning that this upcoming summer will be “abnormally violent”…

I realize this is off topic but we all need to be top notch in health, so I’m posting in case it helps someone else. For years I’ve been waking up achy with congestion, like I’d swallow and my ears would pop and crackle. I’ve been on a LC diet for years, but still sometimes ate things like apples, other fruit, honey and maple syrup occasionally.. a modified Atkins.

After doing some research, for one month I went hardcore keto/virtually no carb..only meats, eggs, cheeses, full fat dairy and veggies but no grains or anything with sugar. I no longer sneeze constantly in the morning, no more neck and shoulder aches and my head is totally clear. As a test, I had a “cheat” day on April 29 and spent the next two days with the bad symptoms (which have now cleared by going back to no sugar). For anons who have this weird head/sinus issue (and you don’t think it’s allergies), try 100% cutting out any form of sugar. It’s not easy but I finally feel really good and mentally sharp. Maybe it’s an intolerance but I think there’s an odd inflammation factor too?

Second Base Hosting US Troops In Iraq Suffered Rocket Attack In 24 Hours

On April 3, the Balad Air Base in Salah al-Din province that houses Iraqi forces and US contractors was targeted by rocket attack.

Representatives of the US Defense Ministry confirmed the attack and claimed that there was no damage and no casualties. The commander of the base, Div. Gen. Sahi Abdul Ameri, said that a total of 9-10 explosions were heard, but only three self-made rockets exploded on the territory of the base.

The rockets reportedly were 107mm Katyusha rockets. Alleged photos of the rockets show that the launchers were labeled with photos of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

For the second day in a row, military facilities in Iraq are targeted with rocket strikes. The US Camp Victory in Iraq came under rocket fire late on April 2.

Pro-Iranian groups in Iraq remain the main suspects, as the attack on US forces are taking place a day after the fire broke out on a large chemical plant in Iran on May 2nd.

Feminist professor survives cancelation for comparing transgenderism to QAnon

University ordered her to show "appropriate restraint" in sharing her views, but hasn't sanctioned her. She credits her lawyer's involvement.

Two months before the University of Rhode Island (URI) publicly denounced a women's studies professor for comparing right- and left-wing "fantasy worlds," her program director allegedly tried to censor her curriculum.

Donna Hughes quickly got a lawyer. She credits that decision for saving her job and preventing the public university from further meddling in her teaching.

The professor put a target on her back by publishing an essay that argued the "trans-sex fantasy" is the left-wing counterpart to the right-wing QAnon conspiracy theory. It ran in 4W, a publication for "gender-critical" feminism, which sees transgender claims as a threat to women.

URI identified Hughes by name in a late March statement that said her First Amendment rights and academic freedom were qualified by her "obligations" to students and the community.

Her "anti-transgender perspectives … can cause pain and discomfort for many transgender individuals," it said. She must show "appropriate restraint" in expressing her views.

The dispute is emblematic of a recent survey of professors that found gender-critical feminists — often dubbed "trans-exclusionary" — are even more reviled than conservatives in academia.

Hughes, who leads graduate studies in the Gender and Women's Studies Program, told Just the News she has faced no sanctions for expressing her views, thanks to the early intervention of her lawyer, the civil liberties advocate Samantha Harris.

She believes URI backed down from trying to strip her of teaching core classes next year because she already had legal representation when the essay caused an outcry. Hughes has also not faced the university's "reeducation program."

The URI statement prompted a rebuke from Princeton University's Robert George, cofounder of the Academic Freedom Alliance, which had just launched. Hughes, one of the group's founding members, said George advised her during the dispute.

The alliance showed Just the News a warning letter it sent Colleges of Arts and Sciences Dean Jeannette Riley regarding Hughes. URI sent a "chilling message" to faculty by misrepresenting its "contractual commitments" under the American Association of University Professors' 80-year-old statement on academic freedom, it said.

The second group, on the other hand, will grow more and more angry, uncapable of making rational decisions because of its constant state of outrage and resentment. This unstable mental state will induce these people to waste a lot of time and energy venting their anger. It will also induce them to make ineffective decisions.

Imagine what could happen if millions of people decided to organise an intelligent and united opposition to the parasitic psychopaths.

They want us to waste as much TIME AND ENERGY as possible. Why do you think they pay all these shills to argue with you? To brainwash you? Obviously not. They know they will never own your soul. The reason they employ these shills is to WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME.

Colorado Democrats Introduce Three New Gun-Control Bills After Boulder Shooting

Democrats in Colorado’s legislature have introduced three new gun-control measures in recent days after the mass shooting at a Boulder supermarket that left 10 dead.

“There’s nothing we can do to bring back the lives that were stolen from us. There’s no single policy we can pass that can guarantee no more lives will be taken from us. We also know that we must continue to demand federal action on gun violence prevention. But this cannot be an excuse for inaction,” Colorado Senate Majority Leader Stephen Fenberg, a Democrat, said during a news conference on April 29.

A new bill, Senate Bill 256, would rescind a state law prohibiting a local government from imposing bans on selling, purchasing, or possession of a firearm.

House Bill 1298 would require licensed gun dealers to obtain approval from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation about whether a background check is complete before a firearm can be transferred.

The petition is now among the top 10 petitions that changed 2020

A petition calling for monthly recurring stimulus payments amounting to $2,000 has surpassed two million signatures.

Colorado restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin posted the petition on Change.org in 2020, setting the target signatures to three million.

“I’m calling on Congress to support families with a $2,000 payment for adults and a $1,000 payment for kids immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis. Otherwise, laid-off workers, furloughed workers, the self-employed, and workers dealing with reduced hours will struggle to pay their rent or put food on the table,” the petition read.

“We need immediate checks and recurring payments so that we can keep our heads above water. Congress needs to make sure that we won’t be left financially ruined for doing our part to keep the country healthy.”

The tremendous amount of support for Bonin’s petition has earned it a spot on Change.org’s top 10 petitions that changed 2020.

Since President Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20, his administration has passed one round of stimulus checks of $1,400 to eligible single taxpayers and $2,800 to married couples filing jointly.

In a speech to Congress on Wednesday, the president said the third round of payments, which are currently being distributed by the IRS, is “making a difference” to people who are struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We’ve already sent more than 160 million checks out the door. It’s making a difference. For many people, it’s making all the difference in the world," Biden said.

"A single mom in Texas who wrote me, she said she couldn’t work. She said the relief check put food on the table and saved her and her son from eviction from their apartment."

Senate Democrats and advocates have also urged the Biden administration to pass recurring relief payments to help lift Americans from financial ruin brought on by the pandemic.

And is it really such a crazy conspiracy theory to ask that question? After all, the first reported COVID death in January 2020 was in Wuhan, China, which is home to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The Wuhan “wet market” that the Chinese Communist Party blames for the outbreak is just a few blocks away. What if this pandemic wasn’t actually caused by somebody getting a bad bowl of bat soup? What if the past year of your life didn’t really happen because somebody on another continent ate a pangolin, whatever that is?

Is it really so farfetched to speculate that the notoriously secretive and dishonest CCP was trying to develop a weaponized virus, it escaped the lab somehow, and then they covered up the outbreak? Is that theory any less likely than the one about imported frozen food from the U.S. and Europe causing the pandemic, as the CCP has actually tried to claim? Why in the world would anybody ever trust the government of China?

If you can only see the world as being divided into Trump or Not Trump, then the lab-leak hypothesis is obviously false because Trump said it might be true. Or, perhaps you’re employed by a venerable media institution that’s now collapsing, and Chinese money is the only thing propping it up, and you’re afraid your career will be ruined if you pursue this legitimate news story. Or it could be that you hate Uyghurs for whatever reason, and you’re a big fan of China for systematically wiping them out of existence. Or maybe you’re just a plain old idiot. Or maybe all of the above.

Maybe it’s the British accent, but he seems quite evenhanded and reasonable about the whole thing. Sure, he’s a spy, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s lying about this.

We may never have ironclad proof that this virus originated in a lab, but I see absolutely no reason to trust the Chinese government about it, or about anything else. If they tell me something didn’t happen, then it’s distinctly possible that it did.

Now that these vaccines are finally starting to clean up China’s mess and we’re getting back to normal, I assume everybody will just move on. We’ll all learn exactly the wrong lesson from it. That’s the history of the world. That’s what human beings are all about.

Maricopa County 2020 Election Audit Expands, Could Last Weeks Longer Than Expected

Last month, the Arizona Senate leadership hired a team of independent auditors to complete a “comprehensive, full forensic audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, including a hand recount of all ballots.” The state Democratic Party tried and failed to stop it, and now it is expanding and may go beyond its original deadline.

“The audit will validate every area of the voting process to ensure the integrity of the vote,” Arizona Senate Republicans said in a statement. “The scope of work will include, but is not limited to, scanning all the ballots, a full manual recount, auditing the registration and votes cast, the vote counts, and the electronic voting system.” According to state-certified results, Biden won the county by just over 45,000 votes and barely won the state by a 10,457-vote margin.

According to the Arizona Republic, the audit may go beyond the original 60-day deadline for a report to be issued, partially due to the fact that the venue for the recount, Veterans Memorial Coliseum, is hosting several local high school graduations.

Senate audit liaison and former Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett says that they are doubling the number of counters and expanding to three shifts a day instead of two.

Despite the extra manpower, Bennett wouldn’t estimate how long it will take to complete the recount. “We have as much time as we need to do it right,” he said.

The audit has been the target of a significant amount of criticism from the left and supporters of Joe Biden. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow predicted “disaster” from the audit, and claimed that Trump will use the audit to cast doubt on the results “in a way that none of their failed lawsuits in the past have been able to do.”

But even if the audit were to prove that Trump legitimately won Arizona, that would not be enough to change the outcome of the election. At least two more states would need to be audited and have their results flipped in order for Trump to be proven the legitimate winner of the election.

The list names roughly 1.95 million people, their ethnicity, education level, and their affiliated Party branches. Most of the people on the list come from Shanghai.

It’s not surprising for CCP members to be embedded in companies operating in China, since Beijing mandates it. But the list exposes how far the communist regime’s influence operations reach outside the Mainland. Here is some information that came from the leak:

IBM has 24 Party units within its offices in China, totaling around 808 members.

PepsiCo has 45 employees in its Party units.

3M’s Party committee has 230 members. The company manufactures healthcare goods, including N95 respirators.

Dow Chemical Company, one of the biggest chemical producers in the world, has 337 CCP affiliates.

Marriott-owned Westin Hotel & Resorts has 23 CCP members.

Insurance company MetLife has 31 employees in its Party unit.

Analytics firm Nielsen Holding has a Party committee of 94 people.

Chinese state media declares that there are 92 million CCP members in the country. The database of 1.95 million people is only a fraction of the total CCP supporters in China. The Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) acquired the database from a Chinese dissident. In addition to American companies, other large international companies have CCP panels in their company structures. Infiltrated companies include Rolls Royce, Airbus, Boeing, AstraZeneca, Jaguar Land Rover, Pfizer, HSBC, and Standard Chartered.

In an interview on The Epoch Times show American Thought Leaders, Bill Gertz said that the database is a key piece of evidence that will aid in exposing the CCP’s influence operations worldwide.

“I think it’s important to understand that membership in the Chinese Communist Party makes those people devoted not to the nation of China or to the people of China, but to the political party of the CCP [Chinese Communist Party]. A man in Chicago, Illinois allegedly plowed a pickup truck into a running club that was holding a picnic birthday party. Police say Timothy Nielsen, 57, jumped a curb to hit the picnickers, striking a 42-year-old woman.

“The victim was briefly trapped underneath the vehicle and sustained serious injuries from the collision,” authorities said in a statement obtained by Law&Crime.

The defendant is charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Witnesses at the scene said a confrontation happened before the near-fatal attack. About 10 to 15 friends were holding a cookout, according to local outlet Block Club Chicago. Troy Brown, who belonged to the group, said they were part of a running club holding a belated birthday party. He said there was shouting with the driver of the truck before the incident. Brown said everything happened fast, and he did not quite catch what was being said.

But Rob Lopez, another member of the group, said he heard the driver say “f— Asians” or “goddamn Asians” to an Asian friend before the ramming happened. A neighbor said the driver called the group, some of whom had dogs with them, “yuppies with dogs.”

Brown is Black, and others in the group were described as being Hispanic. When the driver allegedly rammed his truck at the group, he struck a white woman. Brown said she was pinned under the vehicle, but fortunately was able to get out because the truck struck a cooler. He said she survived with cuts and bruises, was traumatized, and had been released from the hospital.

Brown said he and others attempted to stop the driver from fleeing. A fight ensued. According to this account, the suspect cut Brown’s left arm with a knife.

“It’s kinda hard to shake it because I was a part of it,” he said. “But moreso, I’m thankful that my friend is OK and they’re not severely injured or nothing worse happened.”

Former Ukrainian President Poroshenko Secretly Controlled Offshore Firms that Banked at Austria’s Raiffeisen

Costly works of art, including a painting by Ilya Repin and a sculpture by Salvador Dali, were among the assets acquired by offshore firms controlled by Petro Poroshenko. Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank enabled his deception, listing one of Poroshenko’s associates as the companies’ owner.

Poroshenko controlled at least six offshore shell companies handling tens of millions of dollars in transactions, including luxury furniture for his home and expensive art.

The companies banked at Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International, which listed Poroshenko’s longtime employee as their owner.

Another 11 offshore companies banking at Raiffeisen also had ties to Poroshenko’s business empire.

In the early 2010s, Petro Poroshenko — a billionaire who had just served a stint as Ukraine’s foreign minister, and would later be elected president — built a palatial estate for himself outside Kyiv. He just needed furnishings to match his new home’s grandeur.

Using an offshore company based in the British Virgin Islands called Vernon Holdings, Poroshenko and his wife, Maryna, proceeded to purchase over $100,000 worth of plush fittings from luxury Italian furniture-makers between 2009 and 2012, according to invoices and other documents viewed by OCCRP.

According to documents leaked in 2019 by anti-corruption “hacktivists,” Poroshenko’s family controlled the company. He was also the beneficiary of an insurance policy issued to Vernon. But you would never know it to look at the records of Austria’s Raiffeisen Bank International, where the offshore kept its accounts. Instead of Poroshenko, the bank listed his employee and longtime business associate, Sergiy Zaitsev, as the beneficiary.

That was just the beginning. Drawing on banking records, correspondence, invoices, and other documents, an OCCRP investigation has found that Raiffeisen — Austria’s second largest bank by assets — allowed Poroshenko to use Zaitsev to mask his control of at least six offshore companies used to fund business activities and personal dealings, including multimillion-dollar art purchases.

Raiffeisen identified Zaitsev as the beneficial owner of most of these companies, and he signed company documents for others — even as they handled tens of millions of dollars for Poroshenko before and during his presidency, according to emails and documents obtained by OCCRP.

In 2018, Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) fined Raiffeisen 2.75 million euros for “inadequate checking of the identity of the beneficial owner and failure to regularly update the necessary documents, data and information required to be able to understand ownership and control structures with regard to high-risk customers in specific individual cases.” But the FMA did not specify which of Raiffeisen’s high-risk customers had been wrongly identified. In December 2019, Austria’s Supreme Administrative Court overturned the fine.

Poroshenko has held a variety of political positions since 1998 — including member of parliament, chairman of the Council of the National Bank of Ukraine, and foreign minister — all while building a business empire and fortune estimated to be worth over $1 billion.

After becoming president following the Euromaidan revolution in late 2013 and early 2014, Poroshenko sought to portray himself as a reformer transforming one of Europe’s most corrupt countries. But he has been criticized for failing to tackle Ukraine’s entrenched oligarchy and — even prior to these revelations — for personal corruption as well.

In response to an emailed request for comment from OCCRP, legal advisers to Poroshenko said he had nothing to do with any of the companies.

“Petro Poroshenko is not and was not a shareholder, UBO or officer of any of the companies,” they said in a response signed, “Group of legal advisers of Petro Poroshenko for the protection of reputation from spreading fake news and biased investigations.”

Zaitsev did not respond to requests for comment, but in a 2016 interview with Interfax Ukraine, he denied owning Intraco Ltd on behalf of Poroshenko. “Put simply, I had, have, and God willing, will have my own business interests and projects, for which I created a number of companies,” he said.

REPORT: Biden Admin May Partner With Private Firms To Gather Online Data Without Warrants

The Biden administration is considering partnerships with private cybersecurity firms to gather and monitor online data, according to a report.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is discussing a plan that would allow them to circumvent limits on intelligence gathering, CNN reported Monday. Federal agents are only allowed by federal law to scroll through public posts on social media and cannot use burner accounts to follow private accounts or enter private chat rooms. However, the reported DHS plan would enlist private cybersecurity firms to engage in those practices.

In the aftermath of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Republicans and Democrats criticized security officials for intelligence failures that caused them to underestimate the number of people that would attempt to enter the Capitol. “There was a clear failure by the security leaders on Capitol Hill to prepare for Jan. 6,” Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said in February.

Nearly one-third of individuals charged with entering the Capitol on Jan. 6 used Facebook to plan their activities, a George Washington University analysis found. The Biden administration’s proposal would empower the DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis to partner with outside groups to surveil those social media users and others that they suspect of wrongdoing, a source told CNN.

“We are exploring with our lawyers, civil rights, civil liberties and privacy colleagues, how we can make use of outside expertise,” an anonymous DHS official told CNN.

The Office of Intelligence and Analysis is currently under investigation by the Biden administration for its role in combating left-wing rioters in Portland during the summer of 2020.
