Was Seth Rich’s Laptop National Security Evidence?

We reported in July on documents hosted at the FBI records vault related to murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich. The release followed attorney Ty Clevenger’s lawsuit after his client’s FOIA request had been denied. Here we examine these documents in detail. Seth Rich

The 142 pages are hosted within two PDFs that we’ve combined here (page numbers throughout this article correspond with that upload). Pages 86-142 are the newly released documents the FBI found to be related to Seth Rich. Some of these are identical, or nearly identical, to documents previously available in the public domain, while some reveal information that we had not yet seen.

Among the documents are numerous FBI ‘302’ forms used to summarize interviews conducted during the course of an active investigation. The 302 is a combination of an agent’s recollection of what was said and incorporating any notes taken. Interviews are not typically recorded.

Similar to a police incident report, the process is prone to both unintentional inaccuracies and intentional misrepresentation. 302’s have historically been used to manufacture fabricated evidence in politically sensitive cases, including General Michael Flynn’s case. The witness usually has no chance to correct errors or fabrications, though there is legal precedent that a characterization therein requires corroboration to be considered fact.

A 302 report is supposed to be filed by the agent within five days after the interview being summarized, but in the release, we see many 302 filings that are dated much later:

• This 302 of an interview with a Seth Rich colleague whose unknown identity is almost entirely redacted. It appears twice here because it was entered by agents twice on different dates. Though they summarize the same interview, there are subtle differences between the two 302’s.

** This 302 appears twice because the summary of the interview was entered 5/10 in the case for which the investigation was being conducted, and then on 8/15, it was imported into a separate case due to its relevance in that secondary matter. It isn’t obvious what cases the filings relate to, but the later filing shows classification markings related to national security (NSICG).

In addition to the above, on page 24, an unknown person is said to have “voluntarily produced [redacted]” on 10/24/17, with the production both filed and uploaded digitally, but the 302 reports documenting that weren’t entered until 06/29/18.

Filing a 302 much later than the interview increases the chances that recollections will be inaccurate, or it could also be an indicator of foul play. The 302 from Peter Strzok’s interview with General Flynn was dated seven months after the interview.

Some of the interviews in this release are related to the Seth Rich murder investigation, while some are related to the investigation into the breach of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) servers. Mueller’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation of potential Russian interference into the 2016 U.S. Presidential election is also intertwined. Seth Rich’s employment with the DNC, Wikileaks publishing of the DNC data, Crowdstrike’s forensic analysis, FusionGPS providing information to DNC counsel Perkins Coie on potential Russian interference, and the attempt to impeach Trump are all related.

Some of the interviews in this release are related to the Seth Rich murder investigation, while some are related to the investigation into the breach of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) servers. Mueller’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation of potential Russian interference into the 2016 U.S. Presidential election is also intertwined. Diana West is the author of The Red Thread: A Search for Ideological Drivers Inside the Anti-Trump Conspiracy. She has compiled a Seth Rich timeline that shows us FBI Director James Comey and head of NSA Michael Rogers testified to the House Intelligence Committee on alleged Russian interference on March 20, 2017:

HURD: Have you been able to — when did the DNC provide access for — to the FBI for your technical folks to review what happened?

COMEY: Well, we never got direct access to the machines themselves. The DNC, in the spring of 2016, hired a firm that ultimately shared with us their forensics from their review of the system.

HURD: Director Rogers, did the NSA ever get access to the DNC hardware?

ROGERS: The NSA didn’t ask for access. That’s not in our job…

HURD: … So director FBI notified the DNC early, before any information was put on Wikileaks and when — you have still been — never been given access to any of the technical or the physical machines that were — that were hacked by the Russians.

COMEY: That’s correct, although we got the forensics from the pros that they hired, which — again, best practice is always to get access to the machines themselves, but this — my folks tell me was an appropriate substitute.

The very next day, as shown on pages 87-90 of the new documents, FBI San Francisco contacted law firm Perkins Coie to follow up on an October 2016 request for “DNC / DCCC data.” Perkins Coie is counsel for the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and in the FBI summary of this email chain, Perkins Coie is described as “counsel for the victim.” The summary report says that the Perkins Coie attorney contacted and spoke with the FBI agent on March 31, promising a detailed written response to follow. Pages 95-99, dated April 23, 2017, are redacted but contain that written response that had been promised.

Then on April 28, the FBI provides a physical mailing address of the FBI field office in San Francisco. Pages 109 and 110 are a ‘Collected Item Log’ report dated May 19, 2017, that tells us Perkins Coie’s Washington D.C. office sent a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop to that address. That laptop is documented as being accompanied by a one-page letter and having “paper taped to the top identifying it as S. Rich laptop.”

These pages are marked ‘SECRET,’ which is the second-highest classification level and reserved for national security information. The case information includes a notation that the evidence is related to an investigation into State-Sponsored Computer Intrusion; the Democratic National Committee is victim, and unknown subjects include Guccifer2.

Page 115 is an informational filing that references an article from CrowdStrike, whom DNC had hired to find who breached their servers, and notes that “the FBI has an ongoing investigation into the online persona known as Guccifer 2.0.” The document originates from the “Office of Legal Attache at the United States Embassy,” meaning it came from an FBI office in an American embassy on foreign soil. It is dated January 2, 2018, and it lists as an enclosure a “DVD with FDR Supporting Information for [redacted].” FDR may stand for Federal Data Request, Forensic Data Recovery, or Flight Data Recorder.

Numerous pages in the release show high levels of classification. Page 116 is related to the San Francisco FBI’s investigation marked SECRET for its involvement with suspected State-Sponsored Computer Intrusion, with classification category 1.4 (b) for “foreign government information.” It is a standard form titled “Research on Guccifer2 and DCLeaks,” and the only reason for filing noted is: “To upload research.” It shows that several enclosures were included, but the nature of them is redacted.

Rich’s laptop evidence form was originally classified under National Security Information Classification Guidance (NSICG) per one of Obama’s first Executive Orders 13526, for information that “could reasonably be expected to cause identifiable or describable damage to the national security” and pertains to “intelligence activities (including covert action), intelligence sources or methods, or cryptology.”

Was Seth Rich’s laptop of interest in the FBI’s national security investigation into who breached the DNC servers?

Mueller’s Crossfire Hurricane investigation may have wanted a look. On page 137, the latest Rich release has an email sent to L Rush Atkinson and Jeannie S. Rhee of the Special Counsel’s office with the subject, “Seth Rich work laptop.” It states, “…Perkins Coie provided San Francisco FBI with a copy of Seth Rich’s DNC laptop. The FBI submission document says the laptop was given to the FBI voluntarily, so I am assuming that there is no Search Warrant for the laptop… San Francisco provided [redacted] for us at S[pecial] C[ounsel’s] O[ffice].”

In ‘Why Did Perkins Coie Have a Copy of Seth Rich’s Laptop,’ Diana West shows that among the documents that had been previously released by Clevenger and are also included in the new batch is a 302 summary of an interview with a United States District Attorney (AUSA), whom West says is likely Deborah Sines, that contains two bits of important information. One, there are two Seth Rich laptops — a work laptop and a personal laptop. Two, that the AUSA had requested a “forensic image” of the work laptop for the investigation into Rich’s homicide.

As West says in her article, “Perkins Coie, legal counsel of the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign, has its fingerprints are all over the old Russia Hoax, beginning with hiring Fusion GPS to concoct the fake Steele dossier and hiring Crowdstrike to fake-investigate the DNC email leak. Now the firm of Marc Elias (Kamala Harris campaign counsel) and Michael Sussman and Robert Bauer (wife Anita Dunn) is a link in the chain of custody of the Seth Rich laptop.”

West joined Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy on Bill Walton’s show in an episode named after West’s book The Red Thread:

WEST: “… you have the DNC people basically saying, oh my gosh, we’ve had this terrible event, let’s not call the FBI, let’s call our fixer who brings in CrowdStrike. And it’s important to know that CrowdStrike is a company that is founded by a protege of Robert Mueller by the name of Sean Henry, another one of these cyber experts and, at the FBI…”

GAFFNEY: “The FBI was told, ‘You don’t need to look at the actual servers, CrowdStrike’s got that’ … and I can’t believe it, Bill, as long as I’ve been in Washington, I can’t believe the FBI said, no problem. They didn’t do the forensic deep dive themselves. They took the word of these characters.”

GAFFNEY: “… the number of agencies that actually bought this was far smaller than the number we were told about, which goes to your question about the intelligence community. There are 17 agencies in the federal intelligence community, and we were told by… Hillary Clinton… in the debate with Donald Trump, she says all 17 agencies of the intelligence community say it was a Russian hack. And you know who actually is the source of this? John Brennan. John Brennan hand-picked a couple of analysts – trusted analysts who would do his bidding – and they came up with the answer that it was the Russians. Not 17 agencies. Not unanimous.”

WEST: “…we talked originally about how it was that this unexpected breach of the DNC was layered into the whole Russia hoax… this is for me, is the absolute screaming headline of all of this, you get the Steele Dossier, which was really supposed to be the vehicle of the Russian collusion hoax, and this CrowdStrike redacted draft, we find out through the Roger Stone case, it wasn’t even a final report that the FBI accepted, it was redacted – CrowdStrike redacted it before it gave to the FBI… the Mueller report itself, the indictment of the Russian military officers that Mueller put forward during the investigation… all of these things… court cases that have since come down… indeed the FISA abuse IG report too – they all … rest on one or both of these two fraudulent, essentially DNC Hillary Clinton paid for documents – CrowdStrike and the Steele Dossier. So our entire history right now is being rewritten based upon utter fraudulent information… When you see anyone talk about Russian interference in the election, you can peel it back and find CrowdStrike, you can peel it back and find Steele Dossier, and sure enough, with some of these various documents, there has been confirmation by the principles themselves – Clapper, Brennan for a while… Comey… they were arguing about who actually … asked for the Steele Dossier to be used in their very pivotal assessment of January 2017.”

Seth Rich has long been suspected of being responsible for the DNC breach and could even conceivably have been asked to do it under the responsibilities of his employment there. Referring to Bill Binney’s work with Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), Gaffney explains:

“What we have heard is that the information that was leaked from the DNC was actually obtained not from an outside source that hacked into the server… the download times were sufficiently short that it made much more sense that it was simply downloaded by a thumb drive from inside the DNC itself… an inside job.”

Gaffney says there are other possibilities that fit that theory:

“There’s another candidate for the inside job… an outfit known informally as the Awan Brothers… Pakistani nationals who at the time were working for, among others, Debbie Wasserman Schulz, providing I.T. services to about 40 members of Congress, and using, among other things, servers in Pakistan to handle some of the information they were obtaining from Congressional sources… they had the passwords for Debbie Wasserman Schulz’s computers… people at the DNC when they wanted to get her emails, they had to go to Iman Awan to get the password, which means we’ve got another possible explanation for how this was an inside job – not a Russian job.”

West’s work has paralleled that of UncoverDC in painting the bigger picture of Russiagate as it relates to the 2016 election, Wikileaks, and Seth Rich. She later adds:

“…this notion that Russia installed Donald Trump… when you see who doesn’t want to open it up, doesn’t want to interview Binney or Assange, or look at what happened – you have to suspect that they are in and of the swamp and that they are part of the movement to prevent Trump from being successful and re-elected and supported.”

Gaffney describes CIA director John Brennan’s potential role:

“Seymour Hersh said that the Trump/Russia disinformation campaign was started by Brennan … John Brennan was a Democratic political operative as well as somebody who worked in the Central Intelligence Agency, and the previous role, before he went to the CIA, he was Barrack Obama’s… Homeland Security advisor, so he was very close to the president, and he was an obvious candidate to run an operation like this that was aimed at making Donald Trump a Russian dupe, making him a co-conspirator with the Russians and influencing our election.”

FOIA Attorney Clevenger succeeded in forcing the release of these documents that may not have otherwise been public in the near term. On June 15, Clevenger went further and filed a Motion to Compel requesting the court make the FBI show unredacted versions of the documents, with June 28 FBI counsel responding on June 28. Obama appointee Judge Amos Louis Mazzant III sided with the argument from the FBI and denied Clevenger’s Motion to Compel on July 6.

Per Diana West:

“For several crucial years, the FBI denied investigating Seth Rich at all; for several crucial years, the FBI denied having any documents related to any such investigation; for several crucial years, the FBI denied having possession of Seth Rich’s laptop. We now know the FBI lied about every one of these things and so many more.”

Though many questions remain, the new releases and open source information available to the public represent many pieces to a much larger puzzle. In the ‘Red Thread’ episode of his show, Walton notes that the DNC breach, the Rich murder, and potential actors in the Trump Russia plot are “things that should be investigated by the intelligence community,” to which Gaffney adds, “Specifically by the FBI.”

And they were – but the question is to what extent and what will come of it. We know from the document release that the FBI was conducting a SECRET national security investigation into potential State-Sponsored Computer Intrusion with DNC as a victim. Did the investigation into the stolen documents from DNC become an escalated national security matter based on blindly trusted Crowdstrike analysis that it was an attack from a foreign entity?

Was the FBI’s false response to Clevenger – saying there were no Rich documents – legal lying since those documents were then related to national security?

Did Perkins Coie, as counsel for victim DNC, have Seth Rich’s work laptop? Is Rich’s personal laptop still out there? Why are the contents not responsive to the existing FOIA requests?

Markings on the recently released documents show that their classification levels have changed. Were these documents only now released because of their new, lower security levels? Or did the FBI really change their mind about how classified these documents should be?

Is it possible that classification levels changed because the FBI found what Bill Binney and his team of researchers found – that the ‘breach’ was local and not foreign – meaning it was never a national security matter at all?

LOST BALLOTS in Arizona, Wisconsin And Nevada Exceed Biden’s Victory Margins:

“MARICOPA COUNTY Alone Has Admitted That They Sent 110,000 Mail-In Or Absentee Ballots To What Turned Out To Be The WRONG Addresses,”

Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Heritage Foundation’s Election Law Reform Initiative says that in Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin, unaccounted for ballots outnumber the margin of victory.

The Gateway Pundit reported that Wisconsin had a margin of 20,682 votes last November. Wisconsin lost track of 82,000 mail-in ballots!

Spakovsky told Breitbart’s Alex Marlow,

“[The Wisconsin Election Commission] said 6,500 absentee ballots they mailed out were sent back by the postal service as ‘undeliverable’ [and] 3,000 ballots that came back were rejected. They don’t say why, but usually [a ballot is rejected] because, for example, the signature doesn’t match, indicating it may have been a fraudulent ballot,” he remarked.

Wisconsin authorities cannot account for 76,000 ballots, von Spakovsky stated. “They don’t know what happened to them,” he said. “In other words, voters requested an absentee ballot, or [Wisconsin officials] simply decided — in some places in Wisconsin — to simply mail out absentee ballots to everybody, and the ballot never came back, so it’s unaccounted for. These are the official numbers of the election commission [in Wisconsin], and we don’t know what happened to them. We don’t know if [the ballots] got lost [or] if they were stolen and somebody didn’t get to vote.”

“This didn’t just happen in Wisconsin. … The margin of victory in Arizona for Joe Biden was only a little over 10,000 votes. Maricopa County alone has admitted that they sent 110,000 mail-in or absentee ballots to what turned out to be the wrong addresses,” he continued

“They were labeled [and] returned as ‘undeliverable’ by the postal service,” he added. “Same thing in Nevada. … Clark County sent out something like 93,000 mail-in ballots that are unaccounted for. In other words, they mailed it out [and] it never came back. We don’t know what happened to them, and remember, the margin of victory in the entire state was only a little over 33,000 ballots.”

“There are literally tens of thousands of ballots out there floating around, and we don’t know what happened to them,” he concluded.

Canvassing of voters must be done in every state.

The Gateway Pundit also reported that Almost 15 million mail-in votes have “gone unaccounted for,” according to a new report by the Indiana-based election integrity group”Public Interest Legal Foundation” (PILF).

This is the result of mass mail-in ballots in a scheme that the elections offices around the Country weren’t even prepared to execute.

This is just another example of how COVID-19 was used to steal the election.

Security Breach’ in California Recall Election Has Officials Demanding ‘Rigorous Audit’

Now they want audits. A “security breach” impacting the California recall election has officials calling for “rigorous audits” to ensure that the results are legitimate.

The ‘security breach’? Mike Lindell’s Cyber Imposium actually leaked copies of Dominion Voting System’s proprietary Election Management System (EMS). This is an unauthorized form of ‘transparency’ that election officials are not in the least bit interested in. The Associated Press reported on the election security breach.

“A group of election security experts on Thursday called for a rigorous audit of the upcoming recall election for California’s governor after copies of systems used to run elections across the country were released publicly,” the AP reported. “Their letter sent to the secretary of state’s office urges the state to conduct a type of post-election audit that can help detect malicious attempts to interfere.”

“The statewide recall targeting Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, set for Sept. 14, is the first election since copies of Dominion Voting Systems’ election management system were distributed last month at an event organized by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, an ally of former President Donald Trump who has made unsubstantiated claims about last year’s election,” the AP continued. “Election offices across 30 states use the Dominion system, including 40 counties in California.”

The letter was endorsed by eight election security officials, including prominent authority figure Harri Hursti. It was sent to California’s Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber. The letter is provided in full below.

“As you know, about three weeks ago, binary images of the Dominion election management system (EMS) were made public,” the letter states. “While the software versions are not identical to those used in California, differences are relatively minor: the release materially elevates threats to the trustworthiness of the ongoing California recall election and to public trust in the election. We urge you to address the issue by taking one critical action – a statewide risk-limiting audit (RLA) of trustworthy paper ballots – which can substantially mitigate these threats.”

The security officials also highlight their ‘immediate concern’ about the reported election security breach.

“The illegal public release about three weeks ago of binary images of the Dominion election management system (EMS) software and its installation environment constitutes a serious threat to the recall election,” the officials wrote. “Two of the images came from Mesa County, Colorado, and one came from Antrim County, Michigan. Those images, which include the EMS and its installation environment, have been widely downloaded.”

“While it is prudent to assume that other nation states have had that software for a long time, thousands of other people with unknown affiliations, motives, and physical access to voting systems now have it also,” the letter continues. “That increases the risk of undetected outcome-changing cyber-attacks on California counties that use Dominion equipment and the risk of accusations of fraud and election manipulation which, without rigorous post-election auditing, would be impossible to disprove. While the versions of the Dominion software that were released are not identical to the versions used in California, they are closely related, so this security breach imperils California elections.”

The irony of these statements should be immediate: The election security experts admit that “other nations have had that software for a long time” (by extension, non-state actors might have it, as well). Furthermore, they state clearly “without rigorous post-election auditing, would be impossible to disprove.”

Despite such concerns, election security officials have only shown concern about the ‘rigorous auditing’ for elections where the preferred candidates might lose. Far from there being calls to audit the 2020 election, election security officials, such as CISA, have called the 2020 election the “most secure” in American history and have actively discouraged audits.

The most remarkable thing about the letter is that the election security officials proceed to shred Dominion Voting Systems’ vulnerabilities.

“Every complex software system has bugs and security flaws. Cybersecurity research has shown that election software has more than its share,” the election security experts write. “Since that software is usually kept proprietary and secret, however, relatively few people have had the opportunity to examine, instrument, and test it closely enough to find exploitable flaws.”

“This is now no longer the case, at least with Dominion software,” the letter continues. “As of August 2021, thousands of unknown people can study the code and find weaknesses to plan attacks on elections. The attacks can be deployed by non-technical accomplices, including voters, building maintenance personnel, and election workers. Unfortunately, even extensive pre election testing of the voting equipment may not deter or detect such attacks.”

The fascinating thing about such statements is that it obviously didn’t take a leak from Mike Lindell’s Cyber Symposium to put the EMS software “out there” for determined actors to get their hands on it. It is obvious that other actors may have had it prior to the 2020 election. It is not a “conspiracy theory.” The experts are implying it here in black and white; indeed, Harri Hursti was featured in the HBO series “Kill Chain” discussing such election vulnerabilities prior to the November election. The letter references another election security expert: Alex Halderman.

“The Dominion software from Antrim County has been studied in detail recently by University of Michigan computer science professor Alex Halderman, one of the nation’s foremost experts in voting system cybersecurity,” the letter continues. “While serving as an expert witness in the Curling v. Raffensperger lawsuit in federal court in Georgia, Prof. Halderman found very serious security vulnerabilities in the Dominion Ballot Marking Device (BMD) system, some of which would allow an ordinary voter to insert malware into a BMD during a voting session, with little likelihood of detection.”

“That malware could spread undetected to other voting machines and potentially to the central election management system (EMS) in the county,” the letter adds. “That EMS software is now in the hands of countless unauthorized people after the Mesa and Antrim releases. Prof. Halderman’s full report, dated July 1, 2021, is so sensitive that the Court in Curling v. Raffensperger ordered that it be sealed.”

“However, it is critical to recognize that the release of the Dominion software into the wild has increased the risk to the security of California elections to the point that emergency action is warranted,” the experts conclude.

The implications of the “security breach” are obvious: The secrecy and non-transparency of the nation’s voting systems software is the security threat. Because if officials and private companies can keep the voting systems software secret, it can be abused to rig elections. This is not a “theory” — it is a fact.

It should be added there is nothing wrong with the “rigorous auditing” of elections. Indeed, audit away. But the selectivity of the demands for election audits is more than suspect. There should be election integrity at all times for all candidates in order to ensure that the American people’s voices are indeed heard.

Medical uses

Worm infections

For river blindness (onchocerciasis) and lymphatic filariasis, ivermectin is typically given as part of mass drug administration campaigns that distribute the drug to all members of a community affected by the disease.[23] For river blindness, a single oral dose of ivermectin (150 micrograms per kilogram of body weight) clears the body of larval Onchocerca volvulus worms for several months, preventing transmission and disease progression.[23] Adult worms survive in the skin and eventually recover to produce larval worms again. To keep the worms at bay, ivermectin is given at least once per year for the 10–15-year lifespan of the adult worms.[24] For lymphatic filariasis, oral ivermectin (200 micrograms per kilogram body weight) is part of a combination treatment given annually: ivermectin, diethylcarbamazine citrate and albendazole in places without onchocerciasis; ivermectin and albendazole in places with onchocerciasis.[25][note 1]

Mites and insects

Ivermectin is also used to treat infection with parasitic arthropods. Scabies – infestation with the mite Sarcoptes scabiei – is most commonly treated with topical permethrin or oral ivermectin. For most scabies cases, ivermectin is used in a two dose regimen: a first dose kills the active mites, but not their eggs. Wisconsin to Start 2020 Presidential Election Audits Soon

The Wisconsin Republican State legislators have approved an audit for the state’s 2020 presidential election results, and it is set to begin now in the coming weeks.

Wisconsin is yet another state along with Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan that have audits planned or ongoing.

Former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman was appointed to oversee the investigation of the election results.

Gableman traveled to Arizona last month to learn more about their election audit and how it could be useful in Wisconsin.

“I learned a lot there that will be helpful to my investigation,” said Gableman, who also attended the election fraud symposium led by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell in Sioux Falls, South Dakota last month.

Gableman’s investigation is one of many in the state. The nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau is also reviewing the results of last year’s election. Republican State Rep Janel Brandtjen, chairwoman of the Assembly Elections Committee, issues multiple subpoenas to election clerks in Brown and Milwaukee countries for voting machines and ballots.

The 45th President of the United States called Brandtjen a “strong and great leader.”

“All eyes are on Wisconsin as they begin their election audit,” said Trump. “Hopefully Republican Speaker Robin Vos has the integrity and strength Wisconsin needs to support Rep. Brandtjen’s efforts. Our Country is counting on it!”

Legislative attorneys have stated that election subpoenas are not valid unless Republican Speaker Robin Vos signs them.

Vos replied saying that if Gableman believes that subpoenas are necessary, “we will look into making sure those can happen.”

Republicans have attempted to change voting laws in Wisconsin since last year, but their efforts have been vetoed by Gov. Tony Evers, D-Wis. Evers vetoed legislation last month that would have required residents that vote absentee to provide ID.

Joe Biden was projected as the narrow winner of Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes for the 2020 presidential election after securing the state by less than one percent of votes.

Pennsylvania Republicans Challenge State’S Vote-By-Mail Law In Court

14 Republican state lawmakers have filed a lawsuit on Tuesday challenging Pennsylvania’s 2019 mail-in voting law, which they say is unconstitutional and must be nullified.

The current law permits “no-excuse” mail-in-voting, which gives all residents the power to vote-by-mail with or without a specific reason to do so, according to the Associated Press.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Fourteen Republican lawmakers have filed a new lawsuit challenging Pennsylvania’s mail-in voting law, calling it unconstitutional and asking for it to be thrown out.

The Pennsylvania state constitution requires the state to provide those with specific excuses, such as disabilities, illnesses, religious observances, or being out of town on business, an opportunity to vote by mail.

In 2019, Pennsylvania lawmakers voted in favor of the “no-excuse” vote-by-mail law, giving all Pennsylvanians the ability to vote-by-mail with or without an excuse.

However, Republican lawmakers argued that the 2019 law is unconstitutional because mail-in voting is strictly reserved for those with a valid reason, such as medical or military. 11 out of the 14 Republican lawmakers who filed the lawsuit voted for the “no-excuse” vote-by-mail law two years ago.

The lawsuit was filed in the state Commonwealth Court late Tuesday night.

Joe Biden was certified as the narrow winner in Pennsylvania for the 2020 presidential election, with more than 80,000 votes over Donald Trump – a number that has been contested. Of the nearly 7 million votes cast in the election, 2.5 million Pennsylvanians voted by mail, most of whom were Democrats.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control, wants her agency to establish gun violence as an urgent public health crisis. “Now is the time — it’s pedal to the metal time,” she told CNN in a new interview.

“The scope of the problem is just bigger than we’re even hearing about, and when your heart wrenches every day you turn on the news, you’re only hearing the tip of the iceberg,” Walensky said.

Congress stopped funding the CDC’s gun violence research in 1997 under pressure from the National Rifle Association, and the agency’s directors in the time since have largely stayed mum on the issue until now.

Walensky’s disavowal of restrictionist motives and her lip service to finding common ground with “the firearm-owning community” would be more reassuring if it weren’t for two facts. First, CDC-sponsored research in the past typically has served an anti-gun agenda that aims to reduce homicide and suicide by limiting access to firearms. Second, President Joe Biden has consistently used “public health” rhetoric to give his preexisting gun control ambitions a scientific patina.

Beginning in 1997, responding to complaints from the National Rifle Association (NRA), Congress prohibited the CDC from spending taxpayer money on gun violence research. That ban was lifted in 2018, and Walensky is taking advantage of the new leeway by funding studies aimed at “understanding the root causes of gun violence,” as CNN puts it.

CNN presents the NRA’s opposition to CDC research in this area as politically motivated interference with science. But as Don Kates and two other gun policy scholars noted in a 1997 Reason cover story, the studies funded by the CDC were controversial precisely because they seemed designed to promote a political cause.

Watch: Jim Jordan After Phone Call With Trump: ‘President Trump’ is ‘Going to Run Again’

Rep. Jim Jordan dropped a bombshell on Thursday, perhaps inadvertently, in discussing former President Donald Trump’s future plans.

In a video clip posted online, Jordan, an Ohio Republican, straight up predicts that Trump is jumping in the 2024 GOP presidential primaries and it was the recent Joe Biden-led debacle in Afghanistan, where an untold number of Americans remain trapped under the control of the Taliban, that pushed him to make the decision.

“President Trump, he’s going to run again,” Jordan says in the clip, which was posted by Undercurrent TV journalist Lauren Windsor.

“He’s about ready to announce after all of this craziness in Afghanistan,” Jordan continued.

“I want him to run,” Jordan added, according to the Des Moines Register. “He’s proven he can take the heat. We’re at a moment now where you’ve got to have someone who’s willing to fight, willing to stand up to all the abuses.”

According to the paper, he went on to say that he wears criticism of voting against certifying the 2020 election, along with 146 other House Republicans, as a badge of honor.

“Like I tell my colleagues, particularly the guys in the Freedom Caucus, if the press isn’t saying something bad about you, you’re not doing anything good,” he said. “Just getting involved in supporting conservative values and principles, you’re going to get attacked by the cancel culture mob.”

Jordan is the second person in recent weeks to definitely predict a Trump 2024 presidential candidacy.

Trump’s first press secretary, Sean Spicer, co-host of the Newsmax TV show “Spicer & Co.” with co-host Lyndsay Keith, said early last month of Trump during a preview interview for his upcoming book about the administration of Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, “He’s in.”

Ivermectin for Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19 Infection: A Systematic Review, Meta-analysis, and Trial Sequential Analysis to Inform Clinical Guidelines

DISCUSSION

The findings indicate with moderate certainty that ivermectin treatment in COVID-19 provides a significant survival benefit. Our certainty of evidence judgment was consolidated by the results of trial sequential analyses, which show that the required IS has probably already been met. Low-certainty evidence on improvement and deterioration also support a likely clinical benefit of ivermectin. Low-certainty evidence suggests a significant effect in prophylaxis. Overall, the evidence also suggests that early use of ivermectin may reduce morbidity and mortality from COVID-19. This is based on (1) reductions in COVID-19 infections when ivermectin was used as prophylaxis, (2) the more favorable effect estimates for mild to moderate disease compared with severe disease for death due to any cause, and (3) on the evidence demonstrating reductions in deterioration.

The evidence on severe adverse events in this review was graded as low certainty, partly because there were too few events to reach statistical significance. Evidence from a recent systematic review of ivermectin use among people with parasitic infections suggests that ivermectin administered at the usual doses (0.2 or 0.4 mg/kg) is safe and could be safe at higher doses.7,116 A recent World Health Organization document on ivermectin use for scabies found that adverse events with ivermectin were primarily minor and transient.22

We restricted the included studies to the highest level of evidence, that is, RCTs, as a policy. This was despite there being numerous observational but nonrandomized trials of ivermectin, which one could argue could also be considered in an emergency. We included preprint and unpublished data from completed but not yet published trials due to the urgency related to evidence synthesis in the context of a global pandemic.117 Although there is the potential for selective reporting of outcomes and publication bias, we have factored in these considerations in interpreting results and forming conclusions. We adhered to PRISMA guidelines and the WHO statement on developing global norms for sharing data and results during public health emergencies.117

There are a number of limitations with this review. Several of the studies contributing data did not provide full descriptions of methods, so assessing risk of bias was challenging. Where descriptions of study methods were sparse or unclear, we attempted to contact authors to clarify methods, but lack of information led us to downgrade findings in several instances. Overall interpretation of findings was hampered due to variability in the participants recruited, treatment regimen, and the care offered to those in control groups. We have tried to take this variation into account through subgroup and sensitivity analyses. Nevertheless, dosing and treatment regimens and the use of ivermectin with other components of “standard care” require further research. We did not include laboratory outcome measures, such as viral clearance. The latter and other biochemical outcomes have been reported in several studies and reviews and tend to favor ivermectin.10,47,105,108 Several trials reported continuous data, such as length of hospital stay, as medians and interquartile ranges; therefore, we were unable to include these data in meta-analysis. Because we did not undertake in our protocol to perform narrative evidence synthesis, and because these data tended to favor ivermectin, the certainty of the effects of ivermectin on these continuous outcomes may be underestimated.

At least 5 other reviews of ivermectin use for COVID-19 have been published, including one coauthored with Nobel Laureate Professor Satoshi Ōmura, discoverer of ivermectin,9,10,118,119,120 but only 3 have been peer-reviewed9,118,120 and only 2 attempt full systematic review.10,119 We applied AMSTAR 2,121 a critical appraisal tool for systematic reviews of health care interventions, to the 2 nonpeered systematic reviews10,119 and both were judged to be of low quality (Table 5). However, there was also a suggestion that ivermectin reduced the risk of death in treatment of COVID-19 in these reviews.
