Woke: Robert E. ​Lee Statue Will Come Down In Richmond, Virginia On Wednesday

Virginia’s largest monument to the Civil War, a towering statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, is set to come down on this week. Democrat Governor and Black Face wearing Ralph Northam said in a statement Monday, “This is an important step in showing who we are and what we value as a Commonwealth.”​

Located on Monument Avenue, it is the largest Confederate statue in the United States and was erected in the month of May, 1890, more than 130 ears ago. It was built as a tribute to a Civil War hero who is now widely seen by liberals as a symbol of racial injustice, according to state officials on Monday.

In Monday’s new release, state officials said that preparations for the statue’s removal will began at 6 pm on Tuesday when crews will install protective fencing. After the statue is taken down Wednesday, crews on Thursday will remove plaques from the base of the monument and will replace a time capsule that is believed to be there.

The statue will come down on Wednesday, September 8. It will be placed in storage at a state-owned facility until a decision is made on what exactly to do with it. As one of the largest and most recognizable Confederate statues in the country, the removal of the Lee statue is expected to draw huge crowds.

“Protective fencing will be installed to ensure the safety of the crews removing the statue and those who choose to view it in person. This is necessary due to the statue’s location in a residential neighborhood and its size. Limited viewing opportunities will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis,” the state said Monday.

The 40-foot granite pedestal which currently supports the statue of Lee will remain at its location for now. The pedestal’s final arrangement will be determined following a “community-driven effort to reimagine Monument Avenue” spearheaded by the city and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The Lee statue was created by the internationally renowned French sculptor Marius-Jean-Antonin Mercie and is considered a masterpiece, according to its nomination to the National Register of Historic Places, where it has been listed since 2007.

Abbott will travel to Tyler, Texas on Tuesday to sign SB1, an election security bill that will set new rules for mail in voting while increasing the number of partisan poll watchers and giving the state more control over voting operations.

Abbott’s John Hancock, that’s signature for those that hate our history, will come after the Democrats fled town, and did everything possible to stop the bill from passing in the overwhelming majority conservative state.

The efforts of the Democrats were squashed last week when the Texas House passed the bill 80-41, with the Texas State Senate voting 19-13 in favor of the new law. Both votes were almost completely along party lines.

“Senate Bill 1 will solidify trust and confidence in the outcome of our elections by making it easier to vote and harder to cheat. I look forward to signing Senate Bill 1 into law, ensuring election integrity in Texas,” Abbott said in a statement.

The bill is necessary as 50% of Americans do not believe the outcome of the 2020 elections.

“How much fraud is okay? None. How much suppression is okay? None,” said GOP State Sen. Bryan Hughes of the legislation. “That’s why Senate Bill 1 makes it easy to vote and hard to cheat.”

The Democrats who yield little power in the state, still were complaining.

“I worry that this bill is going to take our state down a very dangerous slippery slope. And I think that this narrative is dangerous, this narrative that there’s widespread fraud with no evidence. I think it’s damaging to our democracy,” Democratic State Sen. Cesar Blanco argued.

Woke General Milley is now saying in an interview with Fox News Jennifer Griffin, that the Afghanistan embarrassment and debacle were “lessons learned” from the horrific U.S. military withdraw from the region.

“The Army itself – the army and the police forces were a mirror image in many ways – and we created and developed forces that looked like Western forces,” Milley explained. “I think one of the big lessons learned here is maybe those forces were not designed appropriately for the type of mission.”

The General who was speaking to Fox News at Ramstein Air Base in Germany, said the fall of the Afghan government occurred much sooner than officials had expected. Which begs the question, why would you leave if you knew that was going to happen?

“The collapse of the Afghan army happened at a much faster rate and [was] very unexpected by pretty much everybody,” he said. “And then with that is the collapse of the Afghan government.”

“Afghanistan has always been a very difficult issue,” he later added.

The general told Fox News that a lack of faith in the government by Afghan citizens ultimately enabled the Taliban takeover.

“One of the fundamental issues I think clearly is the corruption in the government…the government itself not having the legitimacy in the eyes of the people,” Milley said. “You saw what happened at the end. The senior government elites, they all just literally bugged out.”

The good General then said that despite the frustrations of Americans and how they’ve taken it out on President Joe Biden as a “messy” withdrawal, the U.S. was still able to coordinate the rapid evacuation of 124,000 Americans and Afghans…

Let’s be very clear, more than likely 120,000 of those were unvetted Afghans you packed and sent to the United States General. A Terror event is eminent on U.S. soil because of this debacle. We’ve seen multiple veterans in the last few weeks including Congressional candidate Sean Parnell talk about how his interpreter set his team up with the Taliban when he served, and killed multiple troops under his command. The general further sought to assure all service members and the families who lost loved ones in the War in Afghanistan that their efforts were not made in vain.

“War is a horrible, terrible thing,” he said. “But I can tell you with a high degree of certainty that the troops that have fought in this for 20 years – they made a difference.

“They protected the United States from a kind of terror, from a terrorist attack for two decades,” he added.

Milley also spoke on the 13 U.S. Marines who were murdered in a bombing at the Kabul International Airport.

“Those 13 that were killed the other day at Abbey Gate, they didn’t die in vain, they died so that others will live free,” he added.

Unbelievable, this was completely preventable, and just like Marine Lieutenant Colonel Scheller keeps saying, they won’t own up to it, apologize, or accept responsibility for their despicable actions.

Liberal outlets took to their platforms on Friday to try to bury a story when Joe Rogan beat Covid in less than a few days with preventative medicines that are approved by the FDA. They even went after a hospital in Oklahoma based on rumors and hearsay.

A fraudulent and disgusting lie of a story claimed that an Oklahoma hospital had to turn away gunshot victims because so many people had overdosed on “horse dewormer” in a bit to treat Covid-19 themselves. The salacious story was destroyed with lack of proof, logically.

As it turns out, the story was horse sh*t from top to bottom as usual from the leftist rag media sites that spread the lie, but of course they won’t be held accountable, that only happens to conservatives in America.

Joe Rogan announced that he was treating his case of Covid-19 with the FDA approved drug ivermectin, the establishment media went into overdrive to try to discredit the guy worth $300 million, with one of the top podcasts in the world.

Ivermectin won a Nobel Prize for anti-parasitic widely used around the world, not just in animals, but humans. Ivermectin was approved by the FDA in 1969, but now the media and the left have a problem with it because it goes against their get jabbed or else mentality.

There was a local report a few days earlier where outlets quoted a local doctor named Jason McElyea of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, who described patients showing litany of symptoms from nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, and even “vision loss.”

Yet none of it was true, he LIED…

The hospital that McElyea worked at released the following statement.

“Dr. McElyea has not worked at our Sallisaw location in over 2 months,” the statement read. “NHS Sequoyah has not treated any patients due to complications related to taking ivermectin. This includes not treating any patients for ivermectin overdose.”

“All patients who have visited our emergency room have received medical attention as appropriate. Our hospital has not had to turn away any patients seeking emergency care.”

The clarification came after a host of liberal pundits had tweeted out McElyea’s story as fact.

1. Introduction

Ivermectin is an FDA-approved broad spectrum anti-parasitic agent (Gonzalez Canga et al., 2008) that in recent years we, along with other groups, have shown to have anti-viral activity against a broad range of viruses (Gotz et al., 2016; Lundberg et al., 2013; Tay et al., 2013; Wagstaff et al., 2012) in vitro. Originally identified as an inhibitor of interaction between the human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) integrase protein (IN) and the importin (IMP) α/β1 heterodimer responsible for IN nuclear import (Wagstaff et al., 2011), Ivermectin has since been confirmed to inhibit IN nuclear import and HIV-1 replication (Wagstaff et al., 2012). Other actions of ivermectin have been reported (Mastrangelo et al., 2012), but ivermectin has been shown to inhibit nuclear import of host (eg. (Kosyna et al., 2015; van der Watt et al., 2016)) and viral proteins, including simian virus SV40 large tumour antigen (T-ag) and dengue virus (DENV) non-structural protein 5 (Wagstaff et al., 2012, Wagstaff et al., 2011). Importantly, it has been demonstrated to limit infection by RNA viruses such as DENV 1-4 (Tay et al., 2013), West Nile Virus (Yang et al., 2020), Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEEV) (Lundberg et al., 2013) and influenza (Gotz et al., 2016), with this broad spectrum activity believed to be due to the reliance by many different RNA viruses on IMPα/β1 during infection (Caly et al., 2012; Jans et al., 2019). Ivermectin has similarly been shown to be effective against the DNA virus pseudorabies virus (PRV) both in vitro and in vivo, with ivermectin treatment shown to increase survival in PRV-infected mice (Lv et al., 2018). Efficacy was not observed for ivermectin against Zika virus (ZIKV) in mice, but the authors acknowledged that study limitations justified re-evaluation of ivermectin's anti-ZIKV activity (Ketkar et al., 2019). Finally, ivermectin was the focus of a phase III clinical trial in Thailand in 2014–2017, against DENV infection, in which a single daily oral dose was observed to be safe and resulted in a significant reduction in serum levels of viral NS1 protein, but no change in viremia or clinical benefit was observed (see below) (Yamasmith et al., 2018).

The causative agent of the current COVID-19 pandemic, SARS-CoV-2, is a single stranded positive sense RNA virus that is closely related to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV). Studies on SARS-CoV proteins have revealed a potential role for IMPα/β1 during infection in signal-dependent nucleocytoplasmic shutting of the SARS-CoV Nucleocapsid protein (Rowland et al., 2005; Timani et al., 2005; Wulan et al., 2015), that may impact host cell division (Hiscox et al., 2001; Wurm et al., 2001). In addition, the SARS-CoV accessory protein ORF6 has been shown to antagonize the antiviral activity of the STAT1 transcription factor by sequestering IMPα/β1 on the rough ER/Golgi membrane (Frieman et al., 2007). Taken together, these reports suggested that ivermectin's nuclear transport inhibitory activity may be effective against SARS-CoV-2.

To test the antiviral activity of ivermectin towards SARS-CoV-2, we infected Vero/hSLAM cells with SARS-CoV-2 isolate Australia/VIC01/2020 at an MOI of 0.1 for 2 h, followed by the addition of 5 μM ivermectin. Supernatant and cell pellets were harvested at days 0–3 and analysed by RT-PCR for the replication of SARS-CoV-2 RNA (Fig. 1A/B). At 24 h, there was a 93% reduction in viral RNA present in the supernatant (indicative of released virions) of samples treated with ivermectin compared to the vehicle DMSO. Similarly a 99.8% reduction in cell-associated viral RNA (indicative of unreleased and unpackaged virions) was observed with ivermectin treatment. By 48 h this effect increased to an ~5000-fold reduction of viral RNA in ivermectin-treated compared to control samples, indicating that ivermectin treatment resulted in the effective loss of essentially all viral material by 48 h. Consistent with this idea, no further reduction in viral RNA was observed at 72 h. As we have observed previously (Lundberg et al., 2013; Tay et al., 2013; Wagstaff et al., 2012), no toxicity of ivermectin was observed at any of the timepoints tested, in either the sample wells or in parallel tested drug alone samples.

IMPα/β1 binds to the coronavirus cargo protein in the cytoplasm (top) and translocates it through the nuclear pore complex (NPC) into the nucleus where the complex falls apart and the viral cargo can reduce the host cell's antiviral response, leading to enhanced infection. Ivermectin binds to and destabilises the Impα/β1 heterodimer thereby preventing Impα/β1 from binding to the viral protein (bottom) and preventing it from entering the nucleus. This likely results in reduced inhibition of the antiviral responses, leading to a normal, more efficient antiviral response.

To further determine the effectiveness of ivemectin, cells infected with SARS-CoV-2 were treated with serial dilutions of ivermectin 2 h post infection and supernatant and cell pellets collected for real-time RT-PCR at 48 h (Fig. 1C/D). As above, a >5000 reduction in viral RNA was observed in both supernatant and cell pellets from samples treated with 5 μM ivermectin at 48 h, equating to a 99.98% reduction in viral RNA in these samples. Again, no toxicity was observed with ivermectin at any of the concentrations tested. The IC50 of ivermectin treatment was determined to be ~2 μM under these conditions. Underlining the fact that the assay indeed specifically detected SARS-CoV-2, RT-PCR experiments were repeated using primers specific for the viral RdRp gene (Fig. 1E/F) rather than the E gene (above), with nearly identical results observed for both released (supernatant) and cell-associated virus.

Taken together these results demonstrate that ivermectin has antiviral action against the SARS-CoV-2 clinical isolate in vitro, with a single dose able to control viral replication within 24–48 h in our system. We hypothesise that this is likely through inhibiting IMPα/β1-mediated nuclear import of viral proteins (Fig. 1G), as shown for other RNA viruses (Tay et al., 2013; Wagstaff et al., 2012; Yang et al., 2020); confirmation of this mechanism in the case of SARS-CoV-2, and identification of the specific SARS-CoV-2 and/or host component(s) impacted (see (Yang et al., 2020)) is an important focus future work in this laboratory. Ultimately, development of an effective anti-viral for SARS-CoV-2, if given to patients early in infection, could help to limit the viral load, prevent severe disease progression and limit person-person transmission. Benchmarking testing of ivermectin against other potential antivirals for SARS-CoV-2 with alternative mechanisms of action (Dong et al., 2020; Elfiky, 2020; Gordon et al., 2020; Li and De Clercq, 2020; Wang et al., 2020) would thus be important as soon as practicable. This Brief Report raises the possibility that ivermectin could be a useful antiviral to limit SARS-CoV-2, in similar fashion to those already reported (Dong et al., 2020; Elfiky, 2020; Gordon et al., 2020; Li and De Clercq, 2020; Wang et al., 2020); until one of these is proven to be beneficial in a clinical setting, all should be pursued as rapidly as possible.

Ivermectin has an established safety profile for human use (Gonzalez Canga et al., 2008; Jans et al., 2019; Buonfrate et al., 2019), and is FDA-approved for a number of parasitic infections (Gonzalez Canga et al., 2008; Buonfrate et al., 2019). Importantly, recent reviews and meta-analysis indicate that high dose ivermectin has comparable safety as the standard low-dose treatment, although there is not enough evidence to make conclusions about the safety profile in pregnancy (Navarro et al., 2020; Nicolas et al., 2020). The critical next step in further evaluation for possible benefit in COVID-19 patients will be to examine a multiple addition dosing regimen that mimics the current approved usage of ivermectin in humans. As noted, ivermectin was the focus of a recent phase III clinical trial in dengue patients in Thailand, in which a single daily dose was found to be safe but did not produce any clinical benefit. However, the investigators noted that an improved dosing regimen might be developed, based on pharmacokinetic data (Yamasmith et al., 2018). Although DENV is clearly very different to SARS-CoV-2, this trial design should inform future work going forward. Altogether the current report, combined with a known-safety profile, demonstrates that ivermectin is worthy of further consideration as a possible SARS-CoV-2 antiviral.

1. Methods

2.1. Cell culture, viral infection and drug treatment

Vero/hSLAM cells (Ono et al., 2001) were maintained in Earle's Minimum Essential Medium (EMEM) containing 7% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) (Bovogen Biologicals, Keilor East, AUS) 2 mM L-Glutamine, 1 mM Sodium pyruvate, 1500 mg/L sodium bicarbonate, 15 mM HEPES and 0.4 mg/ml geneticin at 37 °C, 5% CO2. Cells were seeded into 12-well tissue culture plates 24 h prior to infection with SARS-CoV-2 (Australia/VIC01/2020 isolate) at an MOI of 0.1 in infection media (as per maintenance media but containing only 2% FBS) for 2 h. Media containing inoculum was removed and replaced with 1 mL fresh media (2% FBS) containing Ivermectin at the indicated concentrations or DMSO alone and incubated as indicated for 0–3 days. At the appropriate timepoint, cell supernatant was collected and spun for 10 min at 6,000 g to remove debris and the supernatant transferred to fresh collection tubes. The cell monolayers were collected by scraping and resuspension into 1 mL fresh media (2% FBS). Toxicity controls were set up in parallel in every experiment on uninfected cells.

2.2. Generation of SARS-CoV-2 cDNA

RNA was extracted from 200 μL aliquots of sample supernatant or cell suspension using the QIAamp 96 Virus QIAcube HT Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany) and eluted in 60 μl. Reverse transcription was performed using the BioLine SensiFAST cDNA kit (Bioline, London, United Kingdom), total reaction mixture (20 μl), containing 10 μL of RNA extract, 4 μl of 5x TransAmp buffer, 1 μl of Reverse Transcriptase and 5 μl of Nuclease free water. The reactions were incubated at 25 °C for 10 min, 42 °C for 15 min and 85 °C for 5 min.

2.3. Detection of SARS-CoV-2 using a TaqMan Real-time RT-PCR assay

TaqMan RT-PCR assay were performed using 2.5 μl cDNA, 10 μl Primer Design PrecisonPLUS qPCR Master Mix 1 μM Forward (5′- AAA TTC TAT GGT GGT TGG CAC AAC ATG TT-3′), 1 μM Reverse (5′- TAG GCA TAG CTC TRT CAC AYT T-3′) primers and 0.2 μM probe (5′-FAM- TGG GTT GGG ATT ATC-MGBNFQ-3′) targeting the BetaCoV RdRp (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase) gene or Forward (5′-ACA GGT ACG TTA ATA GTT AAT AGC GT -3′), 1 μM Reverse (5′-ATA TTG CAG CAG TAC GCA CAC A-3′) primers and 0.2 μM probe (5′-FAM-ACA CTA GCC ATC CTT ACT GCG CTT CG-286 NFQ-3′) targeting the BetaCoV E-gene (Corman et al., 2020). Real-time RT-PCR assays were performed on an Applied Biosystems ABI 7500 Fast real-time PCR machine (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, CA, USA) using cycling conditions of 95 °C for 2 min, 95 °C for 5 s, 60 °C for 24 s. SARS-CoV-2 cDNA (Ct~28) was used as a positive control. Calculated Ct values were converted to fold-reduction of treated samples compared to control using the ΔCt method (fold changed in viral RNA = 2^ΔCt) and expressed as % of DMSO alone sample. IC50 values were fitted using 3 parameter dose response curves in GraphPad prism.

It is possible that as you slept, a great and principled leader was taken off the battlefield and out of the fight but written into the history books for all of time because he is there with his people & has refused many offers to leave.

This man has been a steadfast ally of the US for more than three decades. Many in the State Dept, military & intelligence services know the former Intel Chief well. So when they watch him fighting & leading Afghan government forces who have not given up & did not surrender, it is personal for many. These are not nameless, faceless Afghans to the US - we know SALEH and many of those fighting around him. So to stand by & do nothing to help, to further abandon those who fought alongside us week after week, year after year - in spite of all the risks and countless losses - that is a bridge of betrayal too far. It stains the conscience & the legacy of America & all who represent her & most Americans do not support this but their voices need to be heard.

To understand the nature of the man, here are some excerpts from my last interview with SALEH a few months ago in DC, when he was still the Vice President & a guest of President Joe Biden in Washington DC - I think it will be be obvious why we became friends over the years after I first interviewed him for 60 Minutes more than a decade ago when you see the measure of the man and judge his words and his character for yourself:

LARA LOGAN: It’s 20 years since 9/11. Where is Afghanistan now?

AMRULLAH SALEH: Afghanistan is in a stalemate situation. The Taliban are not defeated. They have not cut or severed ties with terrorist groups. They are boosted. But when it comes to their ideological gene, they are as radical and as irrational as they were before. Even more radical; they believe they have defeated the western armies.

LARA LOGAN: What do you mean, “More radical than before” ? Can you explain that?

AMRULLAH SALEH: Without showing any concession, they received a one-way concession from the U.S. in terms of withdrawal, and they have not agreed to enter into meaningful negotiations for settlement They are of the view that without changing ideology, without stopping violence, without stopping the challenging of global order, they are recognized.

LARA LOGAN: Well, they are, right - they have a de facto embassy in Qatar, thanks to the US and their allies there, where they sit down at the negotiating table with the Americans, the world’s superpower. So they’ve been given that defacto status.

AMRULLAH SALEH: I think that’s a mistake, that they are given those concessions without us collectively using our leverage to change them.

LARA LOGAN: So how do you begin to even negotiate if you’ve given up everything from the start?

AMRULLAH SALEH: The Taliban have not negotiated with us.

LARA LOGAN: How do you deal with that? Do you have to deal with them as one?

AMRULLAH SALEH: In Afghanistan,we deal with them as one, absolutely, because, when we capture an ISIS person, within minutes of interrogation, we find out that, you know, last month, he was Taliban, two years ago, he was Al Qaeda, now he is ISIS, because the- -the foundation is the same.

LARA LOGAN: You said to me once, “If the light goes out in America, it goes out everywhere.”

AMRULLAH SALEH: America is a respected country; it says what it means and it does what it says. If, God forbid, it says one thing and does another; we don’t want America to slide. We want America to remain a great power, because it stands for values, principles. This is a generous nation. You see compassion here. They share their wealth, food, knowledge. It’s open. They embrace you. You see humanity, pluralism. You don’t see much arrogance when it comes to human to human relationships. And if you imagine and visualize the day when this is gone, who will replace it? That is why America remaining a superpower - from a human perspective - it is truly in the interest of humanity.

Now, one Florida county will vote on whether to send a letter to Governor DeSantis to make therapeutics more accessible inside the state.

That includes Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquine, and others.

If the letter is sent to DeSantis and he gives a stamp of approval, watch the mainstream media unleash more fury at Florida.

But I say bring it on!

These therapeutics have shown wonders in countries like India, Indonesia, and Slovakia.

We need somewhere in the United States to extensively use “horse dewormer” for concrete results here of its effectiveness against COVID-19.

Polk County commissioners are set to vote Tuesday on whether or not to send a letter to Gov. Ron DeSantis that would ask him to make drugs, such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, widely available to residents in hopes of providing what one commissioner calls possible live-saving therapeutics against COVID-19.

8 On Your Side obtained a draft of the letter, written by Commissioner Neil Combee, Friday afternoon. It states, in part, “We are hearing from many of our citizens that larger hospital chains and some pharmacies are refusing to prescribe safe and effective therapeutics like hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin… When a citizen is facing a potentially life-threatening case of COVID-19, he or she should receive the ‘right to try’ potentially life-saving therapeutics.”

The letter refers to ivermectin as a “wonder drug” and says without readily available access to alternative treatments, “patients are literally being left to die.” It also praises the governor for setting up monoclonal antibody testing centers as it “is literally saving lives.”

Commissioner Bill Braswell said he is in support of Combee’s letter. He told News Channel 8’s Staci DaSilva he took ivermectin, the prescription for humans, for nine months until he got vaccinated in March.

Federal and Tampa Bay health officials have warned, however, that treatments such as ivermectin are not approved for COVID-19 patients.

Dr. Alfred Aleguas, the managing director of Florida Poison Information Center in Tampa, told 8 On Your Side neither form of ivermectin is a proven treatment for COVID-19.

”It’s not going to be effective. It’s not intended to be effective. It won’t prevent or help you with your symptoms,” Aleguas said.

Polk County Commissioner George Lindsey told 8 On Your Side he plans to vote against sending the letter to Gov. DeSantis.

“If they want to do that individually to the governor that’s fine,” he said Friday night. “But I didn’t think its appropriate to use the county commission platform for that message.”

Commissioner Lindsey added, “there’s already enough confusion on this whole issue and this doesn’t shed light on the subject it clouds the subject.”

However, mainstream hit pieces continue against COVID-19 therapeutics.

Ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug often used on horses and livestock, is not approved to to treat COVID-19.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned against using the drug as a way to treat or prevent the virus, noting that it has received “multiple reports of patients who have required medical attention, including hospitalization, after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for livestock.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has also said “there are currently insufficient data to recommend ivermectin for treatment of COVID-19.”

“Adverse effects associated with ivermectin misuse and overdose are increasing, as shown by a rise in calls to poison control centers reporting overdoses and more people experiencing adverse effects,” the CDC wrote.

Hydroxychloroquine, a drug used to treat conditions including malaria, lupus and arthritis had been given emergency approval to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients. But the FDA revoked emergency use of the drug in 2020, CNBC reported.

One Polk County commissioner, Bill Braswell, said he supports the letter. He noted that he had taken prescribed ivermectin for nine months, until he got vaccinated for COVID-19, according to WFLA.

But another commissioner, George Lindsey, told the news station he plans to vote against sending the letter to DeSantis.

Florida has recently seen a spike in COVID-19 deaths. On Friday, the state reported the largest number of deaths it has seen in a single week: 2,345.

At the same time the number of Floridians getting vaccinated is decreasing, the Palm Beach Post reported. In the last week, just over 95,000 people in the state got the second dose of the vaccine, the lowest amount since late January.

FOIA Release: Fauci Funded Construction Of 'Chimeric Coronaviruses' In Wuhan

When Dr. Anthony Fauci confidently screamed at Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) in July - calling him a liar for accusing him of funding so-called "Gain-of-Function" (GoF) research in Wuhan, China to make coronaviruses more transmissible to humans, the argument ultimately faded due to Fauci's unsupported claim that the research didn't technically fit the definition of GoF.

Now, thanks to materials (here and here) released through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit by The Intercept against the National Institutes of Health (which were unredacted enough to toss Fauci under the bus), we now know that Fauci-funded EcoHealth Alliance, a New York-based nonprofit headed by Peter Daszak, was absolutely engaged in gain-of-function research to make chimeric SARS-based coronaviruses, which they confirmed could infect human cells.

While evidence of this research has been pointed to in published studies, the FOIA release provides a key piece to the puzzle which sheds new light on what was going on.

"This is a roadmap to the high-risk research that could have led to the current pandemic," said Gary Ruskin, executive director of U.S. Right To Know, a group that has been investigating the origins of Covid-19 (via The Intercept).

The materials show that the 2014 and 2019 NIH grants to EcoHealth with subcontracts to WIV funded gain-of-function research as defined in federal policies in effect in 2014-2017 and potential pandemic pathogen enhancement as defined in federal policies in effect in 2017-present.

(This had been evident previously from published research papers that credited the 2014 grant and from the publicly available summary of the 2019 grant. But this now can be stated definitively from progress reports of the 2014 grant and the full proposal of the 2017 grant.)

The materials confirm the grants supported the constructionin Wuhanof novel chimeric SARS-related coronaviruses that combined a spike gene from one coronavirus with genetic information from another coronavirus, and confirmed the resulting viruses could infect human cells.

Alina Chan, a molecular biologist at the Broad Institute, said the documents show that the EcoHealth Alliance has reason to take the lab leak theory seriously. “In this proposal, they actually point out that they know how risky this work is. They keep talking about people potentially getting bitten — and they kept records of everyone who got bitten,” Chan said. “Does EcoHealth have those records? And if not, how can they possibly rule out a research-related accident?” -The Intercept

In response to inquiries from The Intercept, EcoHealth communications manager Robert Kessler replied: "We applied for grants to conduct research. The relevant agencies deemed that to be important research, and thus funded it. So I don’t know that there’s a whole lot to say."

To review the history of EcoHealth, Fauci and Gain-of-Function research which we noted in March:

In 2014, Peter Daszak, president of New York-based nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, received a grant from Dr. Anthony Fauci's National Institutes of Health (NIH) to work with the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) and others to research how bat coronaviruses can 'evolve and jump into the human population.'

The grant's initial funding of $666,442 began in June 2014 with an end date of May 2019, and had paid annually to the tune of $3.7 million under the "Understanding The Risk Of Bat Coronavirus Emergence" project. Notably, the Obama administration cut funding for "gain-of-function" research in October, 2014, four months after Daszak's contract began, while the Wuhan Institute of Virology "had openly participated in gain-of-function research in partnership with U.S. universities and institutions" for years under the leadership of Dr. Shi 'Batwoman' Zhengli, according to the Washington Post's Josh Rogin.

One of the grants, titled “Understanding the Risk of Bat Coronavirus Emergence,” outlines an ambitious effort led by EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak to screen thousands of bat samples for novel coronaviruses. The research also involved screening people who work with live animals. The documents contain several critical details about the research in Wuhan, including the fact that key experimental work with humanized mice was conducted at a biosafety level 3 lab at Wuhan University Center for Animal Experiment — and not at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, as was previously assumed. The documents raise additional questions about the theory that the pandemic may have begun in a lab accident, an idea that Daszak has called “heinous.”

After Rogin exposed diplomatic cables last April expressing grave concerns over safety at WIV, he says: "many of the scientists who spoke out to defend the lab were Shi’s research partners and funders, like the head of the global public health nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak; their research was tied to hers, and if the Wuhan lab were implicated in the pandemic, they would have to answer a lot of tough questions."

In short, Daszak - who has insisted the 'lab escape' theory is impossible, and that random natural origin via intermediary animal species is the only answer - has a massive conflict of interest.

Police, Firefighters In LA Form Group To Resist Vaccine Mandates

“Our goal is to stop the mandated vaccinations for all City employees as well as the citizens of this great country.”

Police and firefighters in Los Angeles have formed a resistance group against COVID vaccine mandates for state workers in the city, stating that they aim to “maintain human rights, constitutional rights, civil rights, and civil liberties as sovereign natural free human beings, and American citizens.”

As reported in the LA Times, two separate police and firefighters groups have come together to oppose vaccine mandates.

‘Firefighters 4 Freedom’ issued a statement on its website noting “Our goal is to stop the mandated vaccinations for all City employees as well as the citizens of this great country. We want to bring education and truth to the people without being censored.”

The statement further notes that the group believes in “the right to work, freewill, personal choice, medical freedoms, and consent without coercion, retaliation, threats, disciplinary action, or termination.”
