IIRC, in 2016, there was an issue of faithless electors, from Colorado, maybe, that was addressed during transition. No other sets of electors were sent to DC, as in 2021, therefore nothing for Brandon to do.

 

I agree with the other anons saying the good guys had Obama & Co. dead to rights and he couldn't make a move.

 

I think, since, this is related to Jan 6, that the Capitol FF was arranged to blow up the chance of Trump's electors being chosen. Some pubbies switched after the "break in". There may be an angle where this legislation will clean up some loose ends, evidence-wise, and/or it will prevent an eventual elector do-over if some states decertify the 2021 electors that picked Brandon.

 

I'm pretty sure Collin's win in ME was not a given going in. She won it in the home stretch. Challenger had been out-polling her. Case can be made that seat was stolen, and Collins may have gotten a margin call to walk point for Pelosi for this legislation. Bipartisan optics bullshit all over again. Something Stinks in the Illinois Governor's Office

 

The more we learn about the Jenny Thornley affair, the more it appears that senior members of the Pritzker administration, including potentially the governor and his wife, may have facilitated a fraud on the state by a now-indicted former campaign aide to enrich her and then obstructed efforts to bring her to justice.

 

This is a tangled web, so stay with me as I set forth a timeline of events and characters, according to the Chicago Tribune.

 

The former executive director of the Illinois State Police Merit Board, Jack Garcia, discovered evidence that one of the employees under his direction, Jenny Thornley, was stealing money from the people of the state

 

Garcia is a well-known, skilled investigator who previously supervised the divisions of internal investigations and forensic services, before becoming the first deputy director of the Illinois State Police. Thornley was a campaign aide for Gov. J.B. Pritzker (her husband, Jared, was also a senior political appointee at the Illinois comptrollerโ€™s office) and close enough to Pritzker and his wife, M.K., that she had their personal telephone numbers.

 

After assembling the evidence and building the case, Garcia scheduled meetings to fire Thornley and refer her for prosecution on the morning of Feb. 3, 2020. However, on the eve of that day, Thornley contacted (at least) the governor's wife (pictured, at left) and asked her to intervene, alleging that Garcia had assaulted her sexually a week or so earlier.

 

The governorโ€™s chief counsel promptly called the merit board (which is an independent agency created โ€œto remove political influenceโ€ from State Police hiring, promotion and discipline) to โ€œadviseโ€ it to: (a) cancel her firing and the referral for prosecution, (b) suspend Garcia (the experienced investigator who uncovered the Thornley fraud) and (c) retain an outside counsel proposed by the governorโ€™s office. The merit board went along, but also suspended Thornley, and Garcia voluntarily took and passed a lie detector test.

 

Then Thornley sued to stop the investigation of her own claim of sexual harassment.

 

The outside counsel, Christina Egan, nonetheless completed an investigation by July 2020 (at the cost of $500,000 paid by the people of Illinois), confirming the evidence Garcia assembled that Thornley had stolen money and committed forgery, and finding no evidence of Thornleyโ€™s sexual assault allegation. The State Police Merit Board then reinstated Garcia, fired Thornley, referred her for prosecution. She has now been indicted for theft and forgery.

 

However, after Thornley was fired, someone with clout in the Pritzker administration somehow granted her disability payments reserved for people that are actually state employees. These payments (amounting to some $71,000) went on for more than a year, ending days before she was indicted for theft and fraud. These extensive payments were for โ€œinjuries'' sustained from an โ€œassaultโ€ that Egan determined had not occurred.

Anon spoke with a fresh out of school malpractice attorney at a bar in North Las Vegas a few months ago. In discussion traffic accidents came up and he indicated that drivers were shit lately and he had witnessed multiple accidents where one driver just didn't stop. Also mentioned a lot of his firm's business was being driven by the uptick in accidents and subsequent poor medical treatment. I have seen a huge increase in reckless drivers in my area as well, weaving through traffic, very high speeds, passing on shoulder, etc. Thought it was due to post covid lockdown drivers but now think it is lack of enforcement and people just don't give a fuck or have an altered sense of self preservation.

Longtime Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson came out as gay in a column in the Ottawa Citizen on Saturday, writing that the announcement was โ€œbetter late than never.โ€

 

The 58-year-old wrote he had long struggled with the decision to be open about his sexuality, and considered whether the revelation would affect his relationships with family, friends and constituents.

 

Watsonโ€™s announcement came just a day before the start of Ottawaโ€™s Capital Pride 2019, a weeklong festival.

 

โ€œAs I look back over my life, and in hindsight, not coming out sooner was a big mistake on my part,โ€ he wroteโ€ฆ

 

Watson, who has led Ottawa since 2010 and previously served as mayor from 1997 to 2000, said he was proud of his track record on LGBTQ issues. He voted in favor of same-sex marriage and as a provincial cabinet minister in the early 2000s, he made it easier for same-sex couples to get married. He was also the first Ottawa mayor to march in cityโ€™s Pride Parade.

 

Still, he said he had some regret โ€“ and some words of wisdom for others in similar situations.

One week before the local Ottawa Pride Festival, Mayor Jim Watson welcomed a guest from Israel for a discussion of LGBTQ issues.

 

Daniel Jonas โ€“ a leading Israeli gay rights activist and chairperson of the religious LGBTQ organization, Havruta โ€“ was in Ottawa following a visit to Montreal, where he met with the Israeli consul-general and a number of invited guests, including clergy members from numerous religions.

 

Jonas found that Ottawaโ€™s mayor was very interested in learning about LGBTQ rights in Israel and in particular about how Orthodox people in Jerusalem deal with gay members of their community.

 

Havruta was established 10 years ago in Jerusalem โ€œas a discreet support group for gay men with religious backgrounds facing the same difficulties with families and communities,โ€ said Jonas. The group has grown, with chapters now established in Tel Aviv and Beโ€™er Sheva.

 

โ€ฆ we try to promote and change the way in which the Orthodox community in Israel sees us by meeting with MKs and rabbis, doing open houses around Israel โ€“ even holding events in very conservative, right-wing settlements.โ€

 

The organization counters negative comments with positive campaigns to educate the public, including pamphlets placed in synagogues at Yom Kippur, brochures with names and faces of gay Israelis telling stories about themselves and positive comments from rabbis and other well known people.

 

โ€ฆโ€œThere is an organization of Orthodox lesbians, Bat Kol, which was established even before Havruta.

 

All of Havrutaโ€™s funding comes from private individuals and grants from interested organizations and foundations.

 

While in Ottawa, Jonas also met informally with members of the Ottawa LGBTQ Jewish community, Capital Pride board members, parliamentarians and staffers, as well as staff members from the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs and the Israeli embassy, for an open discussion.

My theory:

 

28+ Dems are not looking to run for re-election this midterm because they are certain not to win if election integrity by the states are being resolved. I believe there are two things that they will do instead:

 

  1. They will flood their blue states with illegals to raise the population to gain seats in the House.

 

  1. They will run their clowns as Republicans (headed by the GOP) to split votes amongst the candidates running.

 

What I witnessed at the rally were non-MAGA campaign candidate staff out at the entrance promoting misinformation about MAGA endorsed politicians running for re-election. Also, disguised Feds were caught at the rally.

 

We need to fully support MAGA these mid-terms and 2024. After that, we can take a look at replacing some of the RINOs that we know Trump is using at the moment.

According to Variety, Sting is in advanced talks to sell his song catalog for a price-tag in the region of $250 million to either Universal Music Publishing Group (believed to be the front-runner in the race for the deal) or Sony Music Publishing.

 

MBW reported yesterday that the David Bowie song collection may be sold to Warner Music Group, with WMG potentially using a new $535 million debt raise to fund the acquisition. Bowieโ€™s song catalog is apparently attracting bids of around $200 million.

 

Billboard reported earlier this month that Bruce Springsteen is in talks with Sony Music Group about potentially selling the song rights and the recording rights to his back catalog.

 

The publication estimates that a sale of the entirety of Springsteenโ€™s rights could result in a payday for the artist between $330 million to $415 million.

 

This flurry of activity follows news of other legends selling their song catalogs for hundreds of millions of dollars apiece โ€“ including Bob Dylan (to Universal Music Publishing), and Paul Simon (to Sony Music Publishing).

 

The list doesnโ€™t stop there: amongst others, Neil Young sold half of his song rights to Hipgnosis Songs Fund for around $150 million at the top of this year.
