“Turtle” Submarine

Innovation is the word to best describe America’s first submarine. David Bushnell from nearby Westbrook, Connecticut was a Yale graduate interested in creating an explosive weapon to use against the British during their occupation of New York Harbor during the Revolutionary War. Bushnell found local artisans who helped him construct an underwater vessel that could secretly transport a “bomb” to an unsuspecting British warship. Dubbed the “American Turtle” for its appearance, the submarine made three attempts to blow up British ships without success. In a 1785 letter to Thomas Jefferson, George Washington wrote, “Bushnell is a man of great mechanical powers, fertile in inventions and master of execution … I then thought, and still think, that it was an effort of genius”.

The Turtle was the first submarine ever to be used in combat, but it was actually constructed as an afterthought. Bushnell and fellow Yale University intellectual, Phineas Pratt, had developed an underwater bomb with a time delayed flintlock detonator. The one-man, hand-propelled submarine was then designed in order to transport the bomb to the enemy vessel.

The Turtle was successfully launched in the early morning of September 7, 1776. It then went on to complete a mission against the British flagship, HMS Eagle, a 64-gun frigate moored in New York harbor. The Turtle made its way underwater to the rudder of the Eagle’s hull. Unfortunately, the augur first struck metal rather than wood with the screw intended to attach the bomb to the enemy’s hull.

Two more times the Turtle was launched, both resulting in a failure to attach the bomb. The submarine was scuttled by the British while stationed in a sloop.

To all of the people who scream that Trump should have come out and told the world that vaccines were harmful before they were rolled out…

First and foremost OWS ruined the Great Reset by using a "hunt for red October" tactic by driving straight into the torpedo before it could arm itself. Trump pulled the Globalist's pants down in front of the entire world and showed us their plans before they were even in motion.

The recommendations by the CDC and the WHO are not based on any studies of this virus and have never been used to contain any other virus pandemic or epidemic in history.

It is known that the N95 mask, if worn for hours, can reduce blood oxygenation as much as 20%, which can lead to a loss of consciousness, as happened to the hapless fellow driving around alone in his car wearing an N95 mask,

Unfortunately, no one is telling the frail elderly and those with lung diseases, such as COPD, emphysema or pulmonary fibrosis, of these dangers when wearing a facial mask of any kind—which can cause a severe worsening of lung function. This also includes lung cancer patients and people having had lung surgery, especially with partial resection or even the removal of a whole lung.

There is another danger to wearing these masks on a daily basis, especially if worn for several hours. When a person is infected with a respiratory virus, they will expel some of the virus with each breath. If they are wearing a mask, especially an N95 mask or other tightly fitting mask, they will be constantly rebreathing the viruses, raising the concentration of the virus in the lungs and the nasal passages. We know that people who have the worst reactions to the coronavirus have the highest concentrations of the virus early on. And this leads to the deadly cytokine storm in a selected number.

It gets even more frightening. Newer evidence suggests that in some cases the virus can enter the brain.11,12 In most instances it enters the brain by way of the olfactory nerves (smell nerves), which connect directly with the area of the brain dealing with recent memory and memory consolidation. Scott Thuman looks into the federal government's plan to make them more readily available, by using tax dollars to subsidize chip production.

In a race against time, and under the pressure of a tight deadline, Bruce Montgomery and his team at Syntonics, a technology company based in Maryland, diligently piece together equipment used to extend the range of radio signals.

Bruce Montgomery: Most of our customers have tactical communications requirements. They need radios in a command center in the basement of a building, or in a cave. And in a lot of cases, the antennas are too far away to connect them using anything other than optical fiber. So, you have to use optical fiber to get the radio signals in and out.

The due date on a contract for the U.S. military is just weeks away and building the equipment for them is a complicated process made more challenging in the wake of a pandemic disrupting global supply chains, clogging ports and bottlenecking deliveries.

For Bruce and his team, it’s all about semiconductors, that tiny critical ingredient needed to make it all work.

Montgomery: Lord yes. We've got micro controllers, microprocessors, all of these fancy integrated circuits most of which are designed in the United States. Few of which are fabricated here. They're mostly fabricated in Asia.

Scott Thuman: Have we become too reliant on products from Asia?

Montgomery: We certainly are reliant on electronics parts from Asia. Based on this COVID experience, I'd say, yeah, we've become overly reliant.

High-time for that to change, according to Senator Mark Warner, who knows something about chips. He co-founded the early mobile phone company Nextel in 1987, and today says it’s critical the U.S. creates its own resilient supply of chips.

Sen. Mark Warner: Other nations, particularly China, have dramatically increased their investment in this field. Who controls the supply of semiconductor chips really controls, in many ways, the economic future.

Which is why he is calling for the federal government to invest taxpayer dollars on the American semiconductor industry through a bipartisan bill he co-sponsored know as the “Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors” act.

Free Speech Becomes Roadkill In The Crackdown On Canadian Truckers

Below is my column in the Hill on the government and media campaign against the Canadian truckers. The Canadian government has now cleared the Ambassador Bridge. However, there was lasting damage done to the rights of free speech and association after an alliance of the government, corporations, and the media sought to isolate the protesters politically and financially. The most disturbing element was the freezing of donations by companies and the courts. Most recently, the TD Bank joined in blocking support from thousands of citizens. The organized effort to cut off access to donations is alarming, particularly in conjunction with efforts to curtail social media and other informational avenues for the protesters.

Canada appears to be facing its greatest threat since Benedict Arnold came close to seizing Ottawa in 1775. The source of this “insurrection” and “attack on democracy,” however, is not a foreign government but Canadians who have descended on their own capital to protest continuing COVID-19 mandates.

The protest has been peaceful — and highly successful in cutting off key highways. But the most alarming development has not come from the convoy but from the commentary about it, including calls for mass arrests and even vigilantism. The Ottawa Police Services Board chairman has called it a “nationwide insurrection,” adding, “Our city is under siege.”

CNN analyst and Harvard professor Juliette Kayyem was apoplectic at the thought of truckers shutting down roads and interfering with trade. She tweeted out a call to “slash the tires, empty gas tanks, arrest the drivers, and move the trucks.” CNN correspondent Paula Newton said this act of civil disobedience was nothing less than a “threat to democracy. An insurrection, sedition.”

Blocking streets, occupying buildings and shutting down bridges have long been tactics of protesters. Yet what constitutes a protest or an insurrection often seems to depend on the cause involved. When rioters caused billions of dollars in damages, burned police stations and occupied sections of American cities in the summer of 2020, for example, few in the media declared them to be terrorists or a threat to democracy. But CNN’s Kayyem once called conservative protesters occupying a state capital “domestic terrorists.” GoFundMe, which previously helped in the funding of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters, froze more than $10 million raised for Canadian truckers to prevent it from being used to support them.

After the money was frozen by GoFundMe, supporters switched to GiveSendGo to “adopt a trucker.” The Canadian government then moved successfully to freeze millions of donations to the truckers, and the Supreme Court of Canada approved the freeze in a major blow to free speech and associational rights in Canada.

In the meantime, the government has demonized the convoy. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who praised truckers just two years ago as heroes, has denounced them as “trying to blockade our economy, our democracy.”

This is the same Trudeau who praised BLM protesters and stressed that “I have attended protests and rallies in the past when I agreed with the goals, when I supported the people expressing their concerns and their issues, Black Lives Matter is an excellent example of that.”
