Yes, nanoscience can enhance humans – but ethical guidelines must be agreed

People 'enhanced' into spider-climbing individuals with hugely projected breasts and Einstein-brains… Where will it stop?

Engineers are trained to try to figure out how to achieve things that humans cannot and in nanoscience and nanotechnology that challenge is no different.

Many of the most exciting advances in the field try to improve human incapacities with things such as memory, hearing, stamina or intellect. In my field of nanomedicine, the notion of human enhancement is, in a lot of cases, a way to deal with disease: enhancing vision, cognitive functions or improving a person's ability to move independently.

I have always found the relationship between technology and its use to "aid" or "enhance" human capability intriguing because there is a fine line beyond which all kinds of ethical alarms go off. Where does human enhancement against true pathological conditions or disabilities end?

Thoughts like these were on my mind last autumn on a plane to Taiwan, when I watched the latest movie version of one my favourite comic-book heros, Spider-man. The main character, a very normal, scientifically talented and altruistic teenager (who truly wants to save the world) is bitten by an experimental transgenic spider, which results in his transformation into a man-spider hybrid. This concept is a classic method used in science fiction to explain the creation of characters with super-human powers. Interestingly, the transformation almost always occurs after exposure to different agents perceived as "dangerous" – Spider-man with an unintended bite by a transgenic spider, the Hulk by intentional exposure to external beam radiation. Interactions with human-machine interfaces have also been exploited in science fiction numerous times with the most recent example that of Iron Man (or Robocop and Total Recall for those of a more distant era).

These tales are not only entertaining, they also reveal many important aspects of our relationship with medicine, science and technology. It is now clear that "human enhancement" is a reality and not just a product of science fiction. Even more so, technological advances will imminently provide various devices that will interface with the human body in various ways. A recent article in Science magazine exemplified how machines can interact with living brains to allow wireless changes in behaviour by the implantation of devices directly into the brains of mice. These devices could then be remotely controlled to activate different parts of the brain using light. Two recent articles by fellow bloggers for CNN and the Guardian have described chips implanted in the brain to enhance memory and other implants to allow connectivity between brains. These are just a few cases of how technology can allow transcendence into a hybrid human-machine neuronal system of higher capabilities.

People living with a wide range of disabilities will benefit immensely from these advances. But what is the ethical, legal and social framework that will result from the wide adoption of these technologies? New devices will shrink with the use of nanomaterials to allow implantation or grafting by a simple injection or tattooing. The first generation of such devices are expected to act as health monitors (temperature, blood pressure, glucose levels, etc) able to connect wirelessly with the patients' smartphones and their doctors' computers. The next generation will be more sophisticated, more capable and more functional, something like hi-tech hearing aids, vision aids or even memory aids. Would that constitute "doping" at a massive scale? Would people who will have brain implants to enhance their vision or intellectual capacities be treated differently to those of us who may choose to remain implant-free? How strict and how realistic would it be to regulate such procedures?

Maybe I'm worrying too much and society at large will be less squeamish. But I have distant childhood memories (back in the 1970s, if you're asking) of how rare plastic surgery procedures were almost exclusively confined to patients in need. I recently came across statistics as to the popularity of modern plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures around the world to note that breast, lip and buttock implants are now collectively termed "soft tissue enhancements". These non-medically driven "enhancements" constitute the majority of procedures undertaken. There are millions of them performed and they are on the rise. More disconcerting to me is the thought that our brain may one day fall into the category of "soft tissue" as well.

Clearly, we need to allow disabled people and the various patient groups to benefit from advancements in electronics, informatics and nanotechnology. And I must stress that in no way do I advocate that a possible solution could involve restrictions on generation of new knowledge and technological advancement. Research work should (and will) not be affected by the possibility of misuse or exaggeration by certain individuals or organisations.

The challenge will be to draw a visible line that could be regulated and could not be crossed globally, restricting "human enhancement" to only those who medically need it, irrespective of their financial or celebrity stature. I am not sure though whether such regulatory framework and its enforcement could be feasible at a global scale, given the levels of competitiveness and range of ethical principles that prevail. Alternatively, shall we just accept the fact that we will learn to live with fellow humans who will be "enhanced" either by selection from their governments, armies, companies or by personal choice into spider-climbing individuals with hugely projected breasts, lips, buttocks and Einstein-brains?

Dr Astrid Stuckelberger | WHO insider exposes Unholy Trinity

Gate, Swissmedic, and Tedros: The Criminal Monopoly

Dr Astrid Stuckelberger is a PhD in public health with extensive experience working within the World Health Organization. Prior to 2013 her work with the WHO was very constructive. It involved educating and assisting member countries around the world in preparedness for real pandemics and health emergencies.

In 2013 this important work was cut off.

Instead the WHO maneuvered into a new position: a WHO Director General dictatorship, and the racketeering arm of this global monopoly triad: the WHO, Bill Gates, and Swissmed. Swissmedic is the Swiss national authorization and supervisory authority for drugs and medical products.

Dr Struckleberger's important dispostition with Reinner Fuelmich and team:

WHO insider turned whistle-blower, Dr Struckelberger exposes how in stages, the WHO has layered their paperwork to make the Director General (currently super-villain Tedros)- a dictator who can force upon and “sell” the world whatever biologic products he chooses: PCR “tests”, so-called “covid-vaccines”, etc.

She explains how Bill Gates actually tried to become a voting state within the WHO. That is, he was seeking as one man, to have the full equal authority of a country. Despite failing on the surface of that, Gates found a back door method, and we find that Gates, WHO dictator Tedros, and Swissmedic are contracted together.

Think of the level of corruption and malfeasance! Eugenicist Bill Gates profiting many billions on covid injections, and PCR “tests” in a triad of control with WHO dictator Tedros, and the Swiss authority of international drugs and medical products. What could go wrong!

With nearly 100 countries submitting by signed agreements, the WHO, Gates, and Swissmedic hold a global monopoly and control over our bodies… So they think. We reject this. These guys are criminals.

Dr Struckleberger touches on the WHO’s delusional belief that they can change words. In 2009 they “redefined” the word “pandemic” so any cold could suffice. This allowed them to turn on their emergency powers whenever they wanted to, and dictate to the world, just as they have for the past two years. More recently, they “redefined ” the term “herd immunity” so that it is only achieved with injections, and not naturally. We reject their word games, and do not give them authority to redefine words.

Adding to the crimes of Tedros, the WHO, and these accomplices this: the WHO had a subtly published alert regarding the PCR’s being faulty, but they still promoted PCR’s around the world. That’s a crime with a confession.

Gate’s has paperwork granting him “diplomatic immunity”. That includes immunity to criminal investigation and prosecution. We the people reject that too. More on that below.

Never before have drugs as safe as hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin been deliberately demonized to the point that pharmacies refused to fill prescriptions. So countless Americans who were desperate for COVID treatment turned to Indian vendors for relief. Now, I’m getting numerous complaints from podcast listeners that they are having their packages confiscated by customs and the FDA. Meanwhile, Chinese fentanyl pours through the mail and other lethal drugs come over our border in plain sight, as even dark red states relax restrictions on marijuana. Welcome to a perfect morally bankrupt America.

Some of us never thought our government was capable of getting tough on border security, but one listener sent me a notice from the FDA’s Division of Northern Border Imports at a Chicago airport showing that her package is being held at customs. No, there are no illicit drugs. The package contained ivermectin, doxycycline, and zinc. All three are being held – even the zinc!

If the world media have so far been able to lie shamelessly on a matter of strict scientific relevance, spreading lies and hiding reality, we should ask ourselves why, in the present situation, they should suddenly rediscover that intellectual honesty and respect for the code of ethics widely denied with COVID.

But if this colossal fraud has been supported and disseminated by the media, it must be recognized that national and international health institutions, governments, magistrates, law enforcement agencies and the Catholic hierarchy itself all share responsibility for the disaster – each in its own sphere by actively supporting or failing to oppose the narrative – a disaster that has affected billions of people in their health, their property, the exercise of their individual rights and even their very lives. Even in this case, it is difficult to imagine that those who have been guilty of such crimes in support of a pandemic that was intended and maliciously amplified could suddenly have a jolt of dignity and show solicitude for their citizens and their homeland when a war threatens their security and their economy.

These, of course, can be the prudent reflections of those who want to remain neutral and look with detachment and almost disinterest at what is happening around them. But if we deepen our knowledge of the facts and document them, relying on authoritative and objective sources, we discover that doubts and perplexities soon become disturbing certainties.

Poland Says Its Fighter Jets Won’t Fight in Ukraine: Official

Poland’s military has not and won’t send its fighter jets to Ukraine to support the country’s military against Russia, said a deputy foreign minister.

Marcin Przydacz, the deputy minister, told Radio Zet that “we will not open our airports and Polish planes will not fight over Ukraine … Polish planes will not fight over Ukraine.” Another government spokesman, Piotr Mueller, said that the move to provide planes was still being discussed within NATO, but added that “at this stage it doesn’t look like such a decision will be made,” according to a translation of his statement, reported by Polish media.

On Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Poland, a member of NATO, has been given the “green light” to send fighter planes to Ukrainian forces.

“In fact, we’re talking with our Polish friends right now about what we might be able to do to backfill their needs if, in fact, they choose to provide these fighter jets to the Ukrainians. What can we do? How can we help to make sure that they get something to backfill the planes that they are handing over to the Ukrainians?” Blinken told CBS News.

Since the conflict started on Feb. 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his government have repeatedly asked the United States and NATO to send weapons, including fighter planes to defend the country’s airspace against Russia.

“We are working with our American, especially, friends and allies, on the steady supply of all the ammunition and anti-air, anti-tank, and planes to be able to effectively defend our country,” Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, said on Sunday.

“First on Ukraine, one of the things that many people recognized about you was that you during the revolutions of 1989 funded a lot of dissident activities, civil society groups in eastern Europe and Poland, the Czech Republic. Are you doing similar things in Ukraine?” Zakaria asked Soros.

“Well, I set up a foundation in Ukraine before Ukraine became independent of Russia. And the foundation has been functioning ever since and played an important part in events now,” Soros responded.

It is well-known, although forbidden for the establishment media to mention, that Soros worked closely with USAID, the National Endowment for Democracy (now doing work formerly assigned to the CIA), the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, the Freedom House, and the Albert Einstein Institute to initiate a series of color revolutions in Eastern Europe and Central Asia following the engineered collapse of the Soviet Union.

“Many of the participants in Kiev’s ‘EuroMaidan’ demonstrations were members of Soros-funded NGOs and/or were trained by the same NGOs in the many workshops and conferences sponsored by Soros’ International Renaissance Foundation (IRF), and his various Open Society institutes and foundations. Russia makes new claims on US-financed biolabs in Ukraine

The US has “covered” Ukraine with a network of biolaboratories linked to the Pentagon, the Russian Defense Ministry says

The Ukrainian authorities have been urgently destroying pathogens studied at its laboratories linked to the US Department of Defense, the Russian military claimed on Monday, adding that such activities hint at the military purposes of these studies.

As many as 30 biological laboratories have been established in Ukraine that are actively cooperating with the US military, the commander of the Russian radiological, chemical and biological defense force, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said at a news briefing on Monday.

The list of these laboratories’ partners includes the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) – the largest biomedical research facility administered by the US military; the general added.

Many of these laboratories have been active since the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine and their emergence in the country has coincided with a spike in infectious diseases in the region, including German measles, diphtheria and tuberculosis, the Russian military said.

After the Russian forces launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, these laboratories started hastily destroying the materials they had been working on, including the highly pathogenic bacterial and viral agents, Kirillov has said, adding that Moscow has obtained documents related to that process.

Analysis of the documents shows that the laboratories had been working with dangerous infections such as anthrax and the plague. “Assortment and the excessive quantity of the biological agents suggest that the work done in these laboratories had been part of some military biological programs,” the general has said, adding that just one such laboratory in the western Ukrainian city of Lvov had destroyed as many as 320 containers with pathogens causing plague, swamp fever and Malta fever among others.

“If these collections fall into the hands of the Russian experts, they will highly likely prove Ukraine and the US have been in violation of the Biological Weapons Convention,” Kirillov has said, adding that “this is the only reason that can explain the hasty destruction” of those materials.

The general has also expressed his concerns that all the biological materials needed for the alleged military biological program to continue had been already transported to the US.

Kiev has denied developing bioweapons, and Washington has not commented on the Russian military statements so far.

Moscow has been raising alarm about the activities of the US-financed biological laboratories located in the former Soviet states for quite some time. Earlier, it pointed to the Lugar Research Center – a US-funded laboratory in Georgia – as a place where some dangerous experiments are being conducted.

The Pentagon brushed off such accusations as a “Russian disinformation campaign” at that time.

Underage relationship investigation leads to 9 arrests in Vidalia

According to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page, authorities arrested nine people for child endangerment and drug charges in Vidalia. On Monday, February 28, 2022, the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Cybercrime Unit started investigating what authorities alleged was an inappropriate relationship between a 57-year-old male and a 15-year-old female.

Authorities reported the relationship happened at a Vidalia home, where police arrested a subject on multiple counts of pornography involving juveniles in 2021. During the investigation, authorities learned that the child in question had missed an excessive amount of school, all of which were unexcused absences.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for both parents of the child in question, along with a search warrant for the home. On Thursday, March 3, 2022, investigators executed the warrant, with help from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Units.

Detectives discovered the home to be in unlivable conditions, with a total of 13 people inside, one of which was a convicted sex predator. They also found and seized multiple types of narcotics and rescued four juveniles. According to the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office, further charges related to the sex trafficking of juveniles are expected to happen.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Detective Lipscomb at the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office or submit an anonymous tip online through the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office smart phone app.

Russia makes new claims on US-financed biolabs in Ukraine

The US has “covered” Ukraine with a network of biolaboratories linked to the Pentagon, the Russian Defense Ministry says

The Ukrainian authorities have been urgently destroying pathogens studied at its laboratories linked to the US Department of Defense, the Russian military claimed on Monday, adding that such activities hint at the military purposes of these studies.

As many as 30 biological laboratories have been established in Ukraine that are actively cooperating with the US military, the commander of the Russian radiological, chemical and biological defense force, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, said at a news briefing on Monday.

The list of these laboratories’ partners includes the Pentagon’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) – the largest biomedical research facility administered by the US military; the general added.

Cary-based building products manufacturer Cornerstone is sold for $5.8 billion

CARY – Cornerstone Building Brands, the largest manufacturer of exterior building products in the U.S. with some 20,000 employees, is being sold in a deal worth nearly $6 billion.

The all-cash deal of $5.8 billion, which includes absorption of Cornerstone debt, was announced early Monday.

The buyer is the international private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice which already owned nearly half Cornerstone’s (NYSE: CNR) stock.

“We believe this transaction provides substantial value for our shareholders while also accelerating Cornerstone Building Brands’ aspiration to become a premier exterior building solutions company,” said Rose Lee, Cornerstone’s CEO. “We have grown our business and portfolio since 2018 when the Company was created, delivering high-quality exterior building products with a strong focus on being a partner of choice for our customers. CD&R will continue to be an outstanding partner as we advance our operational improvements and innovation-driven growth to create many positive outcomes for our customers and employees.”

Once the deal closes, Cornerstone will become a private company.

HOLLY SPRINGS – California-based drugmaker Amgen Inc. is set to officially break ground this afternoon on a new manufacturing facility.

The company is promising to add more than 350 jobs to the Triangle’s biotech industry.

Amgen leadership, Gov. Roy Cooper, U.S. Sen. Thom Tillis and city of Holly Springs leaders are set to attend the ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony at 2 p.m. ET.

The plan is to build a 350,000-square-foot manufacturing facility valued at $550 million.

Amgen says the facility will employ 355 people from 2025 through 2029 at an average salary of $119,510.

Inside, Amgen will produce medicines in six therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular disease, oncology, bone health, neuroscience, nephrology and inflammation.

In August 2021, Amgen announced the decision to build its Holly Springs facility.

“World-class companies like Amgen are very selective when they evaluate business locations and they only choose places that provide the best support for their operations,” Cooper said in the August news release. “Today’s decision proves once again that North Carolina remains a premier location for the most innovative biotech companies in the industry.”

Amgen employs more than 24,000 worldwide.

Pentagon extends National Guard presence in nation's capital as trucker convoy arrives in the area

The truckers slowed some traffic patterns outside the Beltway over the weekend.

The Pentagon on Monday extended the National Guard support that was dispatched to Washington, D.C., over the weekend as part of an emergency declaration related to the hundreds of truck drivers and other motorists protesting COVID-19 restrictions.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved requests from the U.S. Capitol Police and the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency extending "previously approved National Guard support in the District, including around the U.S. Capitol area," agency spokesman John Kirby says.

About 1,000 people associated with the so-called "Freedom Convoy – patterned after a recent one in Canada – have camped about 70 miles northwest of the District since Friday but so far have only circled the city on its Beltway.

The Guardsmen will remain in the area through Wednesday, providing support at traffic control points. This past weekend guards could be seen in the District, including on Capitol Hill. The convoy on Sunday caused minor traffic disruptions on the Beltway, bu they've yet to come into the city.

Last month, the secretary approved 700 unarmed National Guard troops to be deployed to D.C. to assist with traffic patterns ahead of the convoy.

The convoy is expected to last several more days, prompting the extension of the Guardsmen's presence.
