The Democratic primary for a Georgia county has been called into question after a hand count revealed the voting machines were off by thousands of ballots.

Marshall Orson, a Democratic DeKalb County school board member running for the county commission, asked the local elections board on Thursday to not certify the results as scheduled on Friday due to "numerous issues" with the race.

Orson asked for an "independent review" and a formal recount of the election in his letter to the board, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

"There is no rational basis for believing that there are not continuing issues with the results and the results should not be certified with the continuing existence of multiple substantive issues and concerns," Orson wrote. "Doing so would pose a substantial risk not only to the confidence the public will have in the overall election results from this race but could extend to the entire primary as well as the general election."

The initial Democratic primary results showed Orson winning for commission District 2 with Lauren Alexander in second place and Michelle Long Spears in third. This would have put Orson against Alexander in a runoff election.

However, Spears noticed that the results showed she received zero votes at most election precincts.

The secretary of state's office admitted late last month to making several programing mistakes in the ballot equipment that affected the final tally.

There was an attempted re-scan of the ballots in District 2, but ultimately a hand count was conducted, concluding around midnight on Memorial Day.

On Wednesday evening, the results of the hand count were released, showing former last-place candidate Spears now in first place and headed to a June 21 runoff against Alexander. Former first place candidate Orson was pushed to third place.

Spears gained about 2,600 votes from the original tally, while Alexander gained a few hundred, the Journal-Constitution reported. Orson lost about 1,600 votes from the original results.

The Dekalb County elections board is scheduled to certify the election results Friday afternoon.

Georgia has been the site of numerous election controversies following the 2020 presidential election.

For example, a complaint filed in April to the Georgia State Election Board claims that more than 300,000 ballots in the 2020 election were unreliably recorded in state's largest county of Fulton.

The question? Why did the FBI have a secure workspace at Perkins Coie? They’ve allegedly had it since 2012.

“Perkins Coie is responsible to the FBI for maintaining the Secure Work Environment,” the letter reportedly said.

Gaetz and Jordan are now demanding answers from the FBI. They’ve sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, demanding an explanation.

“We have learned that since March 2012, the FBI approved and facilitated a Secure Work Environment at Perkins Coie’s Washington, D.C. office, which continues to be operational,” the letter states. “In a letter dated May 25, 2022, the law firm confirmed and acknowledged the arrangement.”

The congressmen’s letter states that Michael Sussmann, the former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who was acquitted Tuesday of lying to the FBI, had access to the Secure Work Environment until some point in 2021 and had “limited supervised access thereafter.”

The FBI’s response to the question is interesting. They don’t mention Perkins Coie, but implicitly seem to be acknowledging there was such a workspace but appear to be trying to justify it.

“The FBI complies with the law and security policies and works with the Department of Justice to serve classified, Court-authorized legal process necessary to support national security investigations. In certain instances, the FBI coordinates with non-government, third-party entities, such as law firms, that represent service providers which receive these classified Court orders,” an FBI spokesperson told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“This includes providing access to private attorneys which represent the service providers in satisfaction of their legal rights. As part of this, the FBI ensures that any storage of classified orders meets stringent security protocols required for such documents.”

Gaetz said they were demanding answers from Wray by June 15, and that there were serious questions that were raised by this relationship.

“Our concern is that politically motivated dirt was being converted into politically motivated investigations,” Gaetz said on Fox News. “That’s why Jim Jordan and I are making demands for answers on Christopher Wray immediately. And it’s my hope, certainly, that we shut this facility down.”

He wants any records related to the space, who had access to it, and why, not to mention when and how this workspace was approved.

Meanwhile, Perkins isn’t talking.

Congress needs to get a further explanation from Christopher Wray as to what this space was about and why it was at Perkins. If it’s about providing access to Perkins to review records, why isn’t that at the FBI and/or why they just aren’t providing the records? What other places do they have this at besides Perkins as their attempted explanation seems to imply that there are multiple other places? What access to FBI databases might have been given here? And who has had access to this space over the time it has been in operation? And if Sussmann was the contact — who was he working with at the FBI on this?

2 adults, 3 children murdered in Centerville, escaped inmate believed to be connected

 

  • A spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety tells KBTX that five people were found murdered in Leon County near the area where escaped inmate Gonzalo Lopez was last seen in May. A large law enforcement presence is in the area including a helicopter.

 

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice says law enforcement received a call from an individual who was concerned after not hearing from an elderly relative. Officers arrived at the residence and discovered the bodies of two adults and three children.

 

A 1999 white Chevrolet Silverado, license plate DPV4520, was missing from the residence. TDCJ says escaped inmate, Gonzalo Lopez, may be driving the vehicle and may be armed.

 

Highway 7 is again closed west of Centerville.

 

Lopez, who was serving a life sentence, was being transported to a medical appointment in a caged area of the bus designated for high-risk inmates.

 

As Lopez was being transported, he somehow freed himself from his hand and leg restraints, cut through the expanded metal of the cage, and crawled out the bottom, TDCJ said. He then attacked the driver, who stopped the bus and got into an altercation with Lopez, the department said. They both eventually got off the bus.

New election integrity fears: Georgia county ballot machines off by thousands when hand counted

The Democratic primary for a Georgia county has been called into question after a hand count revealed the voting machines were off by thousands of ballots.

 

Marshall Orson, a Democratic DeKalb County school board member running for the county commission, asked the local elections board on Thursday to not certify the results as scheduled on Friday due to "numerous issues" with the race.

 

Orson asked for an "independent review" and a formal recount of the election in his letter to the board, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

 

"There is no rational basis for believing that there are not continuing issues with the results and the results should not be certified with the continuing existence of multiple substantive issues and concerns," Orson wrote. "Doing so would pose a substantial risk not only to the confidence the public will have in the overall election results from this race but could extend to the entire primary as well as the general election."

 

The initial Democratic primary results showed Orson winning for commission District 2 with Lauren Alexander in second place and Michelle Long Spears in third. This would have put Orson against Alexander in a runoff election.

 

However, Spears noticed that the results showed she received zero votes at most election precincts.

 

The secretary of state's office admitted late last month to making several programing mistakes in the ballot equipment that affected the final tally.

 

There was an attempted re-scan of the ballots in District 2, but ultimately a hand count was conducted, concluding around midnight on Memorial Day.

 

On Wednesday evening, the results of the hand count were released, showing former last-place candidate Spears now in first place and headed to a June 21 runoff against Alexander. Former first place candidate Orson was pushed to third place.

 

Spears gained about 2,600 votes from the original tally, while Alexander gained a few hundred, the Journal-Constitution reported. Orson lost about 1,600 votes from the original results.

 

The Dekalb County elections board is scheduled to certify the election results Friday afternoon.

 

Georgia has been the site of numerous election controversies following the 2020 presidential election.

 

For example, a complaint filed in April to the Georgia State Election Board claims that more than 300,000 ballots in the 2020 election were unreliably recorded in state's largest county of Fulton.

Similar to last year, President Joe Biden and wife Dr. Jill Biden will be enjoying the first lady’s 71st birthday at their beach house north of Rehoboth Beach. Her birthday is Friday, June 3.

 

Last year’s birthday beach visit was the first for Biden as president to their house in North Shores, which they purchased in 2017.

 

The White House announced the visit in a Daily Guidance and Press Schedule notice June 2. The notice says Biden “will join a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and National Security Advisory Jake Sullivan to discuss preparations for the NATO Summit in Madrid at the end of June and the strength of our transatlantic Alliance. In the evening, the President will travel to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, where they will remain over the weekend.” According to the notice, the Bidens are expected to leave Washington, D.C. at 5:30 p.m. and then be in Rehoboth by 6:30 p.m.

 

Prior to the release of the daily guidance, the Federal Aviation Administration issued a temporary flight restriction notice May 31. The FAA noticed restrictions beginning Thursday, June 2, and running through to 9:45 a.m., Sunday, June 5.

Hunter Biden’s ‘sugar brother,’ Hollywood lawyer Kevin Morris

 

It was a scene straight out of a film noir: A glamorous Hollywood writer flies in his private jet to a small Balkan enclave posing as a documentarian to gather information on a group of actors and filmmakers in the midst of shooting a biopic about Hunter Biden.

 

But the star of the surreal scenario that took place last fall in Serbia was Los Angeles-based lawyer Kevin Morris, a friend of Hunter’s who is now being accused of “spying” on the set of “My Son Hunter.”

 

The film, which is highly critical of Hunter for allegedly selling influence to foreign companies while his father, Joe, was vice president, is produced by husband-and-wife documentarians Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney.

 

“On set, a man named Kevin Morris arrived and told us he was working on a documentary exposing Hunter’s corruption,” a tweet from the official “My Son Hunter” site declared on Tuesday. “He told us he was a retired lawyer associated with South Park. We allowed him and his crew to interview us, cast members, and film on our set.”

 

In fact, Morris is a successful lawyer and big-money Democratic Party supporter who has become Hunter Biden’s newest fixer and “sugar brother,” allegedly loaning the president’s son $2 million to help pay off his overdue federal taxes. In addition to the loan, Morris, 58, has become the architect of the legal and media strategy of the president’s beleaguered son. The lawyer, who counts Chris Rock and Matthew McConaughey among his celebrity clients, is also a prolific fiction writer of two novels and a collection of short stories.

 

Over the past two years, Morris has helped Biden, a self-taught artist, forge a deal to market his paintings, which are priced between $50,000 and $500,000 apiece. Morris has also paid Hunter’s monthly living expenses in Los Angeles, according to the New York Times. The Hollywood attorney even found a high-powered literary agent for Biden, 52, when he was writing “Beautiful Things,” a 2021 memoir that chronicles his drug and alcohol addictions. Biden was so grateful for Morris’ counsel that he included him as part of “the outstanding team behind this book” on the acknowledgments page of his memoir.

 

In fact, both Morris and Biden are represented by the same agents — Aevitas Creative Management — which looks after Morris’ own works, the novels “All Joe Knight” and “Gettysburg,” and the short story collection “White Man’s Problems.”

 

Morris is a highly successful lawyer and a self-made businessman, who rose from humble origins in Pennsylvania to launch his own firm, raking in hundreds of millions for his first clients, the creators of “South Park.” Now he’s thrown in his lot with the disgraced, drug-addled son of a president, filming his own documentary about Biden.

 

“The whole thing is so bizarre,” one Hollywood insider told The Post. “What is a guy like that doing with Hunter Biden?”

 

For the last couple of years at least, Morris has been a Democratic Party loyalist, and spent hundreds of thousands on backing Democratic candidates, including President Biden. He met Hunter Biden at a political fundraiser for his father in December 2019, according to the New York Times.

 

Morris, who owns a sprawling loft in Tribeca and spent more than $11 million to buy singer Olivia Newton-John’s Malibu compound in 2009, has doled out cash to other Democratic politicians, according to public records. Earlier this year, he gave $100,000 to a political action committee supporting Conor Lamb, a Democratic Pennsylvania congressman who is running to replace retiring Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, public records show. Lamb is trailing in the polls behind Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman in the Democratic primary race set for Tuesday.

 

Last year, Morris gave $50,000 to Americans Keeping Country First, a super PAC set up to pay for the defense of Republican members of Congress who voted to impeach or convict President Donald Trump following last year’s Capitol riots, according to the Federal Election Commission. Ten House Republicans, including Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and Illinois Rep Adam Kinzinger, were part of that group, and 222 Democrats voted to impeach Trump. Morris gave $2,900 to Kinzinger’s re-election campaign last year before the congressman announced he was retiring last fall.

 

Morris also supported the American Bridge 21st Century PAC with a $50,000 donation. The controversial super PAC, founded by Hillary Clinton advocate David Brock in 2010, conducts opposition research into Republican politicians. “We find what Republicans are hiding and make sure voters hear about it,” according to its website.

Despite Morris’ outsize spending, “he’s very low-key,” said the Hollywood insider. “He’s certainly not one of those flashy Hollywood types, so this whole relationship with Hunter Biden is very strange.”

 

Morris was born Patrick Kevin Morris in Media, Pa., a town of just over 5,000 people about 13 miles outside Philadelphia. His mother worked as a school secretary and his father worked in a refinery. On some occasions, the struggling family relied on food stamps to get by, Morris has told interviewers in the past. Morris worked as a bartender to pay for his studies at Cornell University and law school at New York University, he told a reporter in 2007.

 

“For me it’s always been, take the leap, take the risk, throw yourself into the fire, and you’ll be rewarded,” Morris said in the interview.

 

He did just that when, as a newly minted attorney eager to break into Hollywood, he attended a party at the Sundance Film Festival in 1994 that changed his life. He met Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who would go on to create “South Park.” Morris watched their film “Cannibal: The Musical” and was so impressed, he agreed to represent them for free. At about the same time, he met McConaughey, who was struggling to break into film, and forged a similar deal with the aspiring actor. “Kevin’s been a friend and consigliere of mine for over 20 years,” said McConaughey in 2015. “I’ve always enjoyed his outlook and authenticities of where he’s from and wants to go.”

 

Morris is a director of the Just Keep Livin Foundation, a charity started by McConaughey and his model wife, Camila Alves, in 2006 to help high school students improve their physical and mental health, according to public records.

 

Morris has been married to Hollywood agent Gaby Morgerman since 1991. Morgerman, who grew up on Long Island, is senior vice president at William Morris Endeavor in Beverly Hills, and the couple has two children.

 

Although he’s made millions as a successful attorney, Morris has said he wanted to be a writer since he was 12 years old. “I think it’s my calling to be a creative person, an artist,” Morris told a Cornell University alumni publication in 2017 when he made a visit to the school to mentor young writers. “Even with me being a lawyer, my artistic orientation allowed me to get along in the practice that I chose, because when you represent creative people, it helps to be creative yourself.”

 

Morris, who launched his boutique law firm in Los Angeles in 1996, later put together a $550 million landmark licensing deal for Parker and Stone’s “South Park” and shared in a Tony Award as a co-producer of their hit musical, “Book of Mormon.” Last year, Morris negotiated another lucrative deal with the “South Park” creators, who signed a $900 million contract with Viacom CBS, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

 

Now Morris is attempting to save Hunter Biden.

 

Morris has said he wants to publicly question the story behind The Post’s October 2020 exclusive revealing the contents of his infamous laptop — a situation that caused concern at the White House, according to the New York Times. In contrast to Morris, Biden’s defense lawyers want the president’s son to stay out of the spotlight and resolve a federal grand jury probe in Wilmington, Delaware, without going to trial if charges are filed, the Times said.

 

But Morris may have garnered even more unwanted attention after McAleer went public this week with his allegations that Morris spied on his production of “My Son Hunter.”

 

McAleer said Morris and his colleagues were given full access to the set and allowed to interview McAleer, co-producer McElhinney and the cast over several days, including over lengthy dinners.

 

But recent revelations about the relationship between Morris and Hunter Biden led McAleer to re-evaluate the visit, he said.

 

“They seemed to never switch the camera off — now I know why. This was an information-gathering exercise by a lawyer and his associates for their client,” said McAleer, whose film is set to be an unflattering portrait of the Biden family.

 

Morris did not return phone calls seeking comment.

A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday evening after allegedly breaking into the Dallas Museum of Art and damaging pieces worth upwards of $5 million.

 

Brian Hernandez broke into the museum shortly before 10 p.m. and began a destructive rampage, according to police. He allegedly broke into a display case and smashed a 6th century B.C. Greek amphora and a Greek pot dating to 450 B.C. and worth about $5 million.

Universal Basic Income? IMF Calls For Governments To Subsidize Food And Energy

 

Inflationary and stagflationary crisis events open up a lot of doors and create a lot of convenient opportunities for globalists obsessed with the ideology of total centralization. A key aspect of the “Shared Economy” agenda put forward by the WEF is the concept of UBI (Universal Basic Income). If the government becomes the primary pillar of the economy and the primary source of necessities for a large portion of the population, then this makes public defiance of government mandates much less likely.

 

When the government becomes our nursemaid, how many people will be willing to bite the hand that feeds them?

 

UBI gives political elites incredible power in exchange for nothing more than currency, paper or digital, created from thin air. This is why it is concerning that so many global organizations have become aggressively vocal about government subsidies of necessities the past couple of years.

 

International Monetary Fund head Kristalina Georgieva recently made statements calling for governments to be more active in subsidizing food and energy costs to their citizens in the wake of the inflationary crisis. Such subsidies would of course be the beginning stage of an inevitable push for UBI.

 

We saw some of the effects of UBI in a limited way during the covid lockdowns, which resulted in over $6 trillion in stimulus measures in a single year and helicopter money being funneled directly into the US economy. This momentary UBI led to mass labor shortages across the country. The temporary jump in retail demand has now faltered, but it did result in increased supply chain woes and added to the already existing inflation problems. Overall, covid stimulus policies have been a disaster for the US.

 

Another reason for the IMF to co-opt the discussion on solutions is to also divert blame for the problem. It is the very central banking policies that the IMF promoted for years that led directly to the inflation crisis we are dealing with today. Georgieva continues to promote the lie that the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a main factor causing global inflation, even though inflation was hitting 40 years highs in the US well before the war ever started, and has been a constant weakness within Europe and other parts of the world for years.

 

While sanctions on Russian oil and gas will certainly add to instability in the future, it was central banking policy that created the bulk of this disaster in the first place.

 

The latest statement from the IMF may also reveal the expectations of globalists on the inflation front going forward. With multiple institutions from the WEF, World Bank, the UN, the IMF and the BIS all predicting worldwide food shortages this year, it's clear that inflation is going to get far worse. Georgieva's recommendations for subsidies on food and energy should act as a warning signal; the IMF would not be suggesting UBI-like measures unless they thought the economic crisis would be dangerous enough to compel the public to demand government monetary intervention on such a comprehensive scale. It might not seem like it, but a large number of people are fully aware that stimulus measures and government spending only lead to higher prices. They would have to be extremely desperate to ask for more of the same while hoping for different results.

 

Anyone still not prepared for a bottleneck in the supply chain and even higher costs needs to take the threat seriously. The globalists are telling you what is about to happen, and if you hope to remain free, UBI is not an option.

Ngunnawal traditional owners announce plans to lodge native title claim over ACT and surrounding NSW

 

A group of Ngunnawal traditional owners have used the 30th anniversary of the Mabo decision to announce their intention to lodge a native title claim over the entire ACT and parts of NSW.

 

Ngunawal Nation Traditional Owners Network Group spokeswoman Sonia Shea said Mabo Day was a "significant day" to announce the group's intention to "ensure our culture, rights and interests through the Native Title Act".

 

There have been previous native title applications lodged in the ACT, in 1996 and 1997, which were withdrawn in 2001 when the ACT government and Ngunnawal people reached an agreement over a special 99-year joint management lease for Namadgi National Park.

 

In a press conference this afternoon, the group said anthropological research was currently being undertaken into their genealogical links to the boundary over which they intended to lay claim.

 

Ms Shea said once that was completed, the group would finalise the process.

 

"We have over 300 registered families within our group and we've been working together on this for a number of years, working towards the rights and interests of our people, the Ngunnawal traditional owners of this country that we're on today," she said.

 

The group has also acquired legal representation.

 

Ngunnawal man Bradley Mapiva Brown said the ancestral group had occupied the area for about 60,000 years.

 

Mr Brown said some of the group's "key principles" included "the preservation of Ngunnawal sovereign and identity", and the protection of their boundaries.

 

He said they also aimed to protect Ngunnawal culture and heritage for future generations.

Monkeypox outbreak needs united global response, World Health Organization says

 

Africa must be part of a united global fight against monkeypox as developed countries respond to unusual outbreaks of the disease, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.

The WHO is calling for lower-income nations to benefit from the fruits of that labour as well

 

"We must have one connected global response to monkeypox to avoid it becoming endemic in more countries," D. Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Africa director, said in an online briefing.

 

As countries in the developed world find ways to limit the spread of monkeypox, "it is very important that … we make sure that we share those tools, we build capacities all over the world to respond to these outbreaks," she said.

 

"What is extremely important now is to avert any potential for a repeat of the inequitable access to COVID-19 vaccines experienced by African countries early in the pandemic," Dr Moeti said.

 

Monkeypox is a virus that can cause symptoms such as fever, aches and a distinctive bumpy rash.

 

It is ordinarily found in countries in West and Central Africa with tropical rainforests, but recently more than 550 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been reported by at least 30 countries outside of Africa, according to the WHO.

 

Many of the cases were reportedly tied to sexual activity at two recent raves in Europe.

 

While cases have been detected in Australia, Britain, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, the United States and Israel, no deaths have been reported.

 

Cases of monkeypox were confirmed in Sydney and Melbourne last month.

 

Meanwhile, seven of Africa's 54 countries have reported the disease and there have been about three times as many monkeypox cases as usual.

Third monkeypox case recorded in Sydney, NSW

 

A fresh monkeypox case has emerged in one Aussie state after a resident returned home from a trip overseas.

 

A third case of monkeypox has been identified in NSW after a Sydney resident returned home from overseas.

 

The man in his 50s presented to his doctor with a mild illness just days after arriving back into Sydney from Europe.

 

He is isolating at home while NSW Health trace his last movements.

 

This case is not connected to the two previously reported cases in NSW over the past month.

 

NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant praised the clinicians who identified the symptoms of the rare virus that until recently had never been identified in NSW.

Five years ago, Hillary Clinton joked about Republicans, “It appears they don’t know I’m not president.” It's vastly worse now.

In theory, former Attorney General Bill Barr finds himself in a difficult position. The Republican tapped special counsel John Durham to investigate the investigation into the Russia scandal, and the entire three-year effort is proving to be a fiasco. Durham’s failed and misguided prosecution of Michael Sussmann this week was the latest embarrassment, but it doesn’t stand alone.

 

It was against this backdrop that Barr turned to Fox News last night to brag about how “very proud” he is of the prosecutor’s work. The former attorney general added:

 

“While he did not succeed in getting a conviction from the D.C. jury, I think he accomplished something far more important…. I think he crystallized the central role played by the Hillary campaign in launching as a dirty trick the whole Russiagate collusion narrative and fanning the flames of it.”

 

In all likelihood, Barr knows better. Donald Trump’s Russia scandal wasn’t just some “narrative,” launched as a “dirty trick”; it was a genuine scandal about a Republican presidential candidate whose political operation sought, embraced, capitalized on, and lied about assistance from a foreign adversary — and then took steps to obstruct the investigation into the foreign interference.

 

What’s more, as the former attorney general also probably knows, Hillary Clinton and her campaign didn’t “launch” the scandal; federal law enforcement began scrutinizing the controversy on its own based on ample evidence.

 

But putting these relevant details aside, Barr’s on-air rhetoric last night was jarring for a reason: The Republican effectively made the case that Durham’s pointless prosecution doesn’t matter because the politicized special counsel investigation contributed to a partisan smear of Hillary Clinton.

 

Sure, federal prosecutors obtaining convictions is nice, but for Barr, fueling anti-Clinton theories is “far more important.”

The former attorney general isn’t the only one thinking along such ridiculous lines. Two weeks ago, the editorial board of The Wall Street Journal published a bizarre piece with an over-the-top headline — “Hillary Clinton Did It” — claiming that the former Democratic candidate “approved a plan to plant a false Russia claim with a reporter.”

 

Predictably, the piece was a hit in Republican circles — despite being filled with painfully obvious falsehoods.

 

It might be tempting to think the humiliating demise of Durham’s case against a former Clinton attorney might lead conservatives to shift their focus, but there’s ample evidence pointing in the opposite direction. On Tuesday night, Sen. Marsha Blackburn published a tweet that read, simply, “Investigate Hillary Clinton.” The Tennessee Republican — a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee — didn’t say why, exactly, Clinton should be investigated, but it’s likely that Blackburn and those who retweeted her missive weren’t overly concerned with sensible rationales.

 

A day later, former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens, a leading Republican Senate hopeful, also called for an investigation into Clinton, suggesting GOP leaders “with a backbone” should agree with him.

 

None of this is healthy.

As regular readers probably recall, in Trump’s first year as president, the Republican and his party couldn’t shake their Clinton preoccupation. The then-president couldn’t stop talking and tweeting about his 2016 rival. His aides appeared fixated on Clinton. Congressional Republicans even launched investigations related to Clinton.

 

By October 2017, the former secretary of state joked, “It appears they don’t know I’m not president.”

 

The conditions persisted. In 2019, when Trump launched his re-election campaign, he excoriated Clinton seven times over the course of 30 minutes in his kickoff speech, apparently indifferent to the fact that she wasn’t running. As Election Day 2020 grew closer, the then-president called for Clinton’s incarceration, pushed then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to uncover and release Clinton emails, and lobbied then-Attorney General Barr to prosecute Clinton for reasons unknown.

 

She wasn’t on the ballot. Trump seemed desperate to run against her anyway.

 

After Trump’s defeat, it seemed plausible that Trump and his followers would finally move on — if for no other reason than because they had fresh political targets, in the form a new Democratic president, a new Democratic vice president, a new Democratic Senate majority leader, et al. Clinton left office a decade ago, and it was finally time for obsessive GOP critics to find a new hobby.

 

And yet, here we are.

 

In February, Republican Sen. Josh Hawley suggested on Fox News that Clinton should be incarcerated. A month later, Trump filed an anti-Clinton lawsuit for reasons that defied comprehension.

 

Now, Barr, Blackburn, Greitens, et al. are reminding the political world that Republicans still can’t shake their obsession, even when it would be in the GOP’s interests to do so.
