Indicted Lina Hidalgo Staffers Try to Remove Harris County DA Kim Ogg From Vaccine Contract Corruption Case

 

Two criminally indicted staffers for Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo are trying to remove Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg from the vaccine contract corruption case.

 

Lina Hidalgo has repeatedly attacked Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg, a Democrat, amid an investigation into the judge’s canceled $11 million ‘vaccine outreach’ contract.

 

Hidalgo’s top three staffers were indicted in April after prosecutors expanded the investigation into an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach contract’ awarded to one of the judge’s political cronies.

 

While Hidalgo was threatening to jail and fine people for violating her Covid rules, she was secretly trying to award one of her political cronies an $11 million ‘vaccine outreach’ contract.

Hidalgo’s Chief of Staff Alex Triantaphyllis and Policy Director Wallis Nader along with co-defendant Aaron Dunn were charged with misuse of official information and tampering with government documents in connection with the canceled vaccine outreach contract.

 

According to court documents, Triantaphyllis and Nader are trying to get the DA removed from the case and assert “Ogg has engaged in a months-long, highly public feud” with the Judge over funding of the DA’s office which represents a “conflict of interest.”

 

“”Ogg took the rejection of her funding requests as a personal insult,” claimed both Triantaphyllis and Nader in nearly identical motions now before Judge Hazel Jones.” Fox 26 Houston reported.

 

Lina Hidalgo knows she’s going to be indicted next which is why she’s lashing out at Ogg and trying to smear her investigation as a ‘political vendetta.’

 

Ogg and Hidalgo have been exchanging barbs over the last couple weeks.

 

Kim Ogg responded to Lina Hidalgo’s smear campaign and warned her to keep her mouth shut about the ongoing investigation.

 

“Failing to do so allows a top county official, in her official capacity, to continue to improperly influence those people of Harris County who will serve on the jury in this case,” Ogg said a couple weeks ago. “This harms everyone, including the accused, and must stop.”

Aiming To Jab The Nation’s Youngest, Pfizer Makes Submission For COVID-19 Vaccination Emergency Authorization For Kids Under 5

 

Pfizer has officially submitted its request to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to clear its COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in children under the age of five.

 

The pharmaceutical giant, along with BioNTech SE, finalized their application with the FDA for emergency use authorization (EUA) of their vaccine in children aged six months to four years. In a statement on Wednesday, the companies said that they began the submission process in February.

 

Pfizer announced in May that a three-shot regimen was highly effective and prompted a robust immune response in children under age 5. Pfizer’s data was based on early results from a highly anticipated trial that is likely to pave the way for infants and toddlers to be immunized.

 

Early testing found that the vaccine was 80.3% effective in preventing COVID infections among young children, with ten infections occurring among all study participants. According to the company, the final results will be determined once 21 children enrolled in the study have been infected.

 

In February, Pfizer launched a rolling review of data from the trial of 1,678 children under the age of 5. The three-dose vaccine regimen was well-tolerated, with a safety profile similar to that of the placebo, and most side effects were mild or moderate.

The complete submission includes data on the product’s safety, efficacy, and ability to prompt an appropriate immune response in recipients.

 

Children under the age of 5 were given three doses; each dose contained three micrograms or one-tenth of the adult dosage.

 

Attention will now turn to an upcoming FDA advisory committee meeting set for June 15. During the scheduled meeting, the experts will discuss the dangers and advantages of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines for young children. After the session, the panel will recommend to the FDA whether they should be cleared for emergency use.

Woman Tells Cops She Can’t Get on the Ground Because She’s Pregnant, Cops Put 5 Rounds In Her

 

Kansas City, MO — When a mother of three was travelling through Kansas City, Missouri last week, pulling off the highway to get her children some ice cream, she never imagined that she and her children would witness police shoot an unarmed pregnant woman. Unfortunately, however, that’s exactly what happened according to Shé Danja.

 

Shé Danja, who declined to give her last name out of fear of police retaliation, pulled out her phone and recorded the incident as it unfolded and the video appears to show that 26-year-old Leonna Hale was unarmed when she was shot 5 times by Kansas City police officers.

 

Immediately after they shot her, police claimed that a “gun was recovered at the scene.” However, Hale did not appear to be holding it and according to the eye witness, Hale told police there was a gun in the vehicle which was far away from Hale when she was shot.

 

The incident unfolded on Friday May 27 when police say they were looking for a carjacking suspect. According to police, they found a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle located at the Family Dollar on 6th street.

 

When police approached the vehicle, the male driver exited the car and took off running while Hale stayed back. Hale then complied with police and got out of the car like she was asked to do.

 

According to the Kansas City Star, who interviewed Shé Danja, “The cops told the woman to get on the ground, but the woman informed them that she was pregnant, and so she couldn’t get down on the ground.” Then police asked her to get down multiple times, which she still couldn’t. The woman then informed police that there was a gun in the vehicle.

 

The woman began moving back toward a fence of the parking lot. Numerous officers approached and drew their weapons. “She did not pull out a weapon on them,” Shé Danja said. “She did not even have a stick in her hand.” The woman ran three steps away from officers, Shé Danja said, and police shot five times.

 

“One, two, three, four, five. I remember it because it didn’t stop. They shot five times,” Shé Danja told the Star. “I remember seeing her hit the ground and I froze,” she said. She also asked police numerous times why they shot the woman, but officers refused to answer.

 

Shé Danja was then forced away from the scene by one of the responding officers, despite telling him that her son was still in the store.

U.S. Embassy to Vatican Celebrates: Flies Rainbow Flag for Pride Month

 

The U.S. Embassy to the Holy See began flying the LGBT rainbow flag Wednesday and tweeted in celebration of Pride Month, an innovation of the Biden administration.

 

This is the second year running in which the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See celebrates Pride Month, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a blanket authorization for U.S. diplomatic outposts around the globe to fly the rainbow flag on the same flagpole as the U.S. flag, underscoring support for LGBT rights.

 

“Today is the start of Pride Month,” the embassy stated in its tweet. “The United States respects and promotes the equality and human dignity of all people including the LGBTQIA+ community.”

 

Last year, Pope Francis preemptively offered an alternative, Christian message for June, urging Christians to pray during the month for young men and women preparing for marriage,.

 

On June 1, 2021, the pope released a video announces his prayer intention for the Church for the month of June, with the title: The Beauty of Matrimony, publicized on the website of The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network.

 

“Let us pray for young people who are preparing for marriage with the support of a Christian community: may they grow in love, with generosity, faithfulness, and patience,” the pontiff said.

 

“Is it true what some people say, that young people do not want to get married, especially in these hard times?” he asked in the video. “Getting married and sharing life is a beautiful thing. It is a challenging, sometimes difficult, sometimes even confrontational journey, but it is worth the risk.”

 

“And on this journey of all life, the bride and groom are not alone: Jesus accompanies them,” Francis added.

 

The pope went on to assert that marriage is not about the “party” but about a calling to the commitment of a shared life project.

NASCAR issued an apology Wednesday for “recent actions” that are “not aligned” with its mission after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) waved the green flag ahead of last week’s All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sweden, Population 10.3 Million, Has over 1 Million Migrants Eligible to Vote in 2022 Elections

 

Out of a total population of just over ten million people, an estimated one million foreign-born residents of Sweden will be eligible to vote in the coming national elections to be held later this year.

 

Around 1.2 million foreign-born residents of Sweden will be eligible to vote later this year for the first time ever, with some noting that foreign-born Swedes tend to vote mainly for a specific party, namely the ruling Social Democrats.

 

The new number of foreign-born voters is a full 200,000 higher than the last Swedish national election, according to a report from broadcaster Sveriges Radio.

 

Henrik Ekengren Oscarsson, professor of political science, commented on foreign-born voting patterns, saying: “If you combine voting for the Left Party and the Social Democrats, it’s a clear red vote.”

 

While foreign-born residents of Sweden tend to vote more for left-wing parties on average compared to native-born Swedens, they also tend to vote less in elections overall. Around 74 per cent of foreign-born Swedes vote compared to 90 per cent of natives.

 

The trend reflects the ongoing demographic shift in Sweden, as much of the country’s population growth continues to be fueled by mass migration in recent years.

 

In 2016, Sweden had the second-highest population growth rate in the entire European Union due to mass migration, behind only Luxembourg, a city-state with a much smaller overall population of just over 600,000 people.

 

Sweden’s dependence on mass migration for population growth became evident in the first year of the Wuhan virus pandemic as many countries halted flights and other forms of travel in an effort to halt the spread of the virus.

 

In the first six months of 2020, Sweden saw its lowest rate of population growth in 15 years due to a lack of new immigrants and deaths caused by the virus outbreak. The population growth rate during that period was half that of the same period the year prior.

The Southern states wanted more representation in Congress. The number of Congressional Reps. that each state gets is based on the population totals of each state. Wyoming doesn't have very many people so they only get one Congressional Rep. California has a lot of people so they get 53 Congressional Reps.

The South wanted each slave to be counted in the census that takes place every 10 years to determine the population which determines the number of Reps. each state gets to have in Congress.

The North did not want the slaves to be counted in the census, therefore limiting the number of reps. that each southern state would have in Congress.

They came to a compromise. The 3/5th compromise. Every 5 slaves would be counted as 3 people in the census.

Somewhere along the line Black people were told by the Socialist Public School system that they were only considered to be worth 3/5th of a human and never explained anything beyond that. Based on that logic, if Libtards can be credited with ever actually using logic, it would have been the Northern States that would have considered the Slaves to not be human, and the Slave owners in the Southern states who wanted the Slaves to be considered human.

China, the world's largest greenhouse gas emitter, is also the key growth driver of renewable power capacity installation globally.

China continues to build new coal-fired capacity.

 

China plans to have 33 percent of its electricity sourced from renewable power sources in a new renewables plan by 2025.

 

China, which had a 28.8 percent share of renewable electricity in 2020, also looks to raise the share of non-fossil fuel energy in its overall energy mix to 20 percent by 2025, according to the new five-year plan from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) cited by Reuters.

 

Non-fossil fuels accounted for 15.4 percent of China's primary energy consumption in 2020, Reuters notes.

 

China, the world's largest greenhouse gas emitter, is also the key growth driver of renewable power capacity installation globally. Solar and wind power installations have surged in recent years, but China has put more emphasis on energy security in recent months.

 

Although China looks to start cutting coal consumption after 2026, it is still planning to build new coal capacity. It also left the door wide open to more coal in the renewable plan.

 

Earlier this year, China said it would continue to maximize the use of coal in the coming years as it caters to its energy security, despite pledges to contribute to global efforts to reduce emissions. Chinese President Xi Jinping has told representatives from its biggest coal-producing region, Inner Mongolia, that China "could not part from reality" and that it is "rich in coal, poor in oil and short of gas." The energy transition is a long process, and China cannot just "slam the brakes" on coal, according to Xi.

 

China is concerned about its energy security after the autumn 2021 power crisis and, most recently, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which pushed energy commodity prices sky-high.

 

China needs to accelerate efforts to decarbonize, including reducing coal consumption, the latest UN climate report says, while China has placed emphasis on coal production and coal-fired generation at least in the next few years as it prioritizes energy security.

 

China is one of the laggards in emissions reductions and its short-term energy policies are incompatible with the global targets, one of the report's authors said in April.

Lisa M. Richardson, 58 Kronenwetter, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at her home. She was manager/owner of Randy’s Video / Balloons R Us - Decorating service Stevens Point WI, for many years and ended her career at Krueger Floral, Schofield Wi due to disability. Lisa married the love of her life, Kent Richardson on 8/9/1997 (he survives). They lived a wonderful life together and had two sons. Hunter (Hanna) Richardson – Rothschild WI and Tanner Richardson – Kronenwetter, WI. She is also stepmother to Krystle (Tony) Endries – Rozellville, WI and Kasey Richardson Iola, WI.

"I can reveal now that the person called 'La Mongolfiera' in my book #Sodoma (the Italian title of the book) was #AngeloSodano. My rule was not to reveal the homosexuality of a living priest or cardinal. Now that he is dead, the truth can be written," Martel tweeted.

Sodano, who was second-in-command to Pope John Paul II as Vatican secretary of state from 1991 and continued in office for a year under Pope Benedict XVI, formed "the first 'ring of lust' around the Holy Father," the journalist wrote in his 2019 runaway bestseller.

 

Martel revealed that Sodano, a second pseudonymous cardinal — "Platinette" — and an unnamed bishop were "regular clients of the Roman male prostitutes, with whom they host foursomes."

 

The prelates used a network of trusted Vatican intermediaries and money from the Vatican coffers to pay for luxury escorts — costing up to 2,000 euros per evening, Martel disclosed, earning the cardinals the "ironic nickname" of "the ATM priests."

 

In his book, Martel does not reveal the identity of the intermediaries but names one of the network's ringleaders as "Negretto," a Nigerian member of the Vatican choir. A second intermediary, who is married, is characterized as a "gentleman of His Holiness."

In 2010, Italian police outed Negretto as Thomas Chinedu Ehiem after obtaining over a year's supply of wiretapped phone conversations revealing the operation of a gay prostitution network.

 

Police also arrested the "gentleman to his Holiness," naming him as Angelo Balducci, who was part of an elite group of ushers whose task is to serve at the apostolic palace when visiting dignitaries meet the pope.

Military Arrests White House Deputy Chief of Staff

 

U.S. Army Rangers on Wednesday arrested former Biden campaign manager and current Deputy Chief of Staff Jennifer Brigid O’Malley Dillon at a Washington, D.C. hotel, the result of a military investigation into whether she took part in a ballot harvesting ring in which Democrat-liberal sympathizers, known as “mules,” illegally collected and deposited ballots into drop boxes in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin during the 2020 presidential election.

 

According to a JAG source, White Hats took interest in Dillon after viewing conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s video 2000 Mules, which shows surveillance video of seedy individuals making repeated trips to drop boxes in the aforementioned states; in each instance the mules carried reams of ballots.

 

The video, our source said, sounded alarm bells in the White Hat community, and prompted a thorough probe.

 

Although Dillon goes unmentioned in D’Souza’s video, the military began its investigation at the crest of Biden’s election hierarchy, believing that she, who became Biden’s campaign manager in April 2020, had knowledge of the scheme—or orchestrated it. Our source would not at this time cite specific evidence, but said JAG had obtained from U.S. Army Cyber Command “concrete proof” linking her to “innumerable” illegal ballots.

 

“The case against Dillon is open and shut,” he said.

 

The charge on a military arrest warrant was suspicion of treason, which, if proven, can carry a death sentence.

 

However, it’s still unclear whether JAG will prosecute Dillon or strike a deal in hopes she will lead them to bigger fish.

Ontario school board removes Agatha Christie book over antisemitism

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) has asked teachers to no longer have students read And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie because of anti Semitic references.

 

“The text was first published around 1939 and is no longer relevant or engaging to students,” said a UCDSB spokesperson in a Monday statement to the National Post.

 

“The Upper Canada District School Board regularly reviews its curriculum offerings and course materials to ensure we are offering fresh, engaging, timely, and relatable materials to students.”

 

And Then There Were None was last used for a summer school course in July, according to the spokesperson. The book was removed from the course when offensive content was pointed out.

 

While the memo did not explain what anti Semitic references the UCDSB was concerned about, character Mr. Morris is referred to as “little Jew,” “Jewboy,” and as having “thick Semitic lips.”

 

The book has been criticized for past racist titles. Its original name was from a minstrel song with an anti-black slur, and it has been titled Ten Little Indians at times.

 

Christie is recognized as one of the best-selling novelists of all time, writing 66 mystery novels and 14 plays. And Then There Were None is the best-selling crime novel in history.

 

Christie’s books Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile have been accused of promoting racism and xenophobia. The Secret of Chimneys and Lord Edgware Dies have been criticized for using antisemitic tropes.

 

The memo said removing this book from curriculums is a step to ensure texts used in schools are not discriminatory.

 

UCDSB principals have been encouraged to talk with staff and students to ensure book selections are “appropriate and culturally responsive.” The school board does not offer information on how to decide if older books such as And Then There Were None are suitable, but a process to choose appropriate titles is being worked on.

 

Other incidents of books being censored have come up in Ontario school boards in the last few years.

 

English teachers in the Peel District School Board (PDSB) were urged not to teach To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee because it is harmful, violent, and oppressive to black students in 2018.

 

“The use of racist texts as entry points into discussions about racism is hardly for the benefit of black students who already experience racism,” said a PDSB memo. “This should give us pause — who does the use of these texts centre?”

Unborn baby’s remains reportedly discovered in Mississippi wastewater treatment facility

 

‘My heart is broken,’ said Adams County Coroner James Lee. ‘I pray for the people who disposed of this child the way they did.’

 

The body of a second trimester unborn baby was said to have been recovered from an industrial wastewater treatment facility in Mississippi last week, according to the Natchez Democrat.

 

Adams County Coroner James Lee said the Sheriff’s Office contacted him Tuesday morning to respond to what seemed to be a human fetus discovered inside a drainage system at the Natchez, Mississippi wastewater treatment plant.

 

“Upon my arrival, I noticed a fetus that appeared to be (16 weeks’) gestational age laying in sewage,” Lee said, according to the outlet. “My heart is broken. I pray for the people who disposed of this child the way they did.”

 

Lee added that the Mississippi Crime Lab refused his request for an autopsy and DNA samples of the apparent deceased infant.

 

According to a report by The Blaze, Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said that in the opinion of the Crime Lab the unborn child “was not considered viable,” adding that it was unclear whether “a crime has been committed or if it was simply a miscarriage.”

 

Patten said the Adam’s County Sheriff’s Office is looking to obtain an autopsy and DNA sample from a private lab in an effort to locate the unborn baby’s mother, though he said the chances of identifying her “are very slim.”

 

“In order for that to happen, the DNA would have to match someone that is already in the system,” Patten explained.

 

“Whomever the mother was is going to need medical attention,” the sheriff added.

 

“If the fetus was viable, it would be considered a desecration of a corpse, but if not there are no legal ramifications,” he said, characterizing the situation as “traumatic.”

Woman killed, two children injured in parasailing crash in Florida Keys

A wind gust led the boat captain to cut the line to the parasail, investigators said

Charter fishing guide John Callion was watching tourists parasailing in the Florida Keys on Memorial Day when the weather turned. In a matter of seconds, calm conditions mutated into 30 mph winds.

 

“I knew right away the outcome was going to be bad,” Callion said in a Facebook post.

 

In normal conditions, the people parasailing that day would have been gently floating through the air, buoyed by the parasail behind them and tethered by a rope to a boat guiding them on a scenic adventure. Instead, as Callion watched, a gust of wind flooded the parasail, threatening to drag the 31-foot motorboat, investigators with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said in a report. So the captain cut the line tethering the parasail to the boat, according to the report, causing it to plunge and drop its three passengers into the water.

 

Propelled by the wind, the parasail itself stayed aloft and soared south, dragging the three occupants — who were still attached to it by rope — through the water, according to the report. As the parasailing boat gave chase, Callion started filming, thinking he would capture a dramatic rescue on video.

 

“But as time went on it was clear to me that the parasail boat was in dire need of assistance,” he wrote on Facebook.

 

Callion raced after them in his fishing boat.

 

Neither vessel was able to intervene before the parasail hit the Old Seven Mile Bridge, a decommissioned span that serves as a fishing pier and pedestrian walkway. At first, Callion didn’t think that was a problem.

 

“I thought the parachute hit the bridge and the people were just going to be dangling when I got there,” he told “Good Morning America” on Wednesday, “but it actually was a much worse situation.”

 

What was supposed to be a fun activity during a family vacation had quickly turned into a horrifying chain of events that left a 33-year-old mother dead. Officials say the woman, Supraja Alaparthi of Schaumburg, Ill., was with a larger group of relatives vacationing in the Florida Keys. She had been on the parasailing excursion with her 10-year-old son and 9-year-old nephew, who were both injured but survived the collision. The incident is now being investigated by the U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

 

According to the fish and wildlife officials, Alaparthi and the children had gone out on Monday afternoon with Lighthouse Parasail, a Marathon-based outfit, WPLG reported. Once they were out on the water, Alaparthi strapped into the parasail with the two boys. Shortly after they took flight, a gust of wind “pegged” the parasail, an industry term to describe when the parasail chute becomes a sail that drags the boat it’s attached to. Callion estimated that, once it was detached from the boat, the parasail traveled one to two miles for several minutes at “a high rate of speed” before hitting the bridge.

 

Callion said he was the first boater to arrive at the crash site. There, he discovered that the parasail, instead of leaving its three passengers hanging uninjured, had dragged them into a solid part of the bridge, he said in the Facebook post. Callion cut each of them from their harnesses. The 10-year-old boy had only minor injuries, but Alaparthi and her nephew were unconscious, he said. After getting them on board, Callion drove his boat to the Sunset Grille & Raw Bar in Marathon as his passengers tried to revive the unconscious victims.

 

“It was pretty much the worst thing you could imagine,” he told the Miami Herald. “It was real bad.”

Blowback over the Tweet was widespread and came from a wide array of Twitter users. While some were upset that the New England Patriots didn’t celebrate February’s Black History Month in a similar manner, others criticized them for corporate pandering and for politicizing sports, remarking that they’d made their own once-great product unwatchable.

 

“Please just focus on beating the Bills and picking an offensive coordinator,” one fan wrote to the team. “Stay out of social justice and concentrate on football,” wrote another.

 

Apparently unhappy with the lack of enthusiastic response, the New England Patriots then used their official Twitter account to threaten fans with big tech censorship, reminding them that the post’s comment section was being “monitored’ and accusing them of “hate.”

Scotus ruling could affect Pa. primary

 

The US Supreme Court halted the count of some mail-in ballots casted in Pennsylvania’s primary elections. Justice Samuel Alito gave the order Tuesday, pausing a lower court ruling over a disputed 2021 local court election. That case would have allowed for the counting of mail-in ballots without a handwritten date on them.

 

It’s unclear when the Supreme Court will review the case further or how long it would take, but Pennsylvania’s Senate primary race will likely be affected. The new ruling will no longer allow election officials to count dateless ballots. This means Republican Senate candidate David McCormick likely won’t catch up to his competitor Mehmet Oz as the recount must be finished by June 8.

WH Economic Adviser Bernstein Blames Putin for Inflation — Ukraine Invasion ‘Is All over that Issue’

 

White House Council of Economic Advisers member Jared Bernstein on Thursday pointed to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine for the record-high inflation and gas prices in the United States.

 

Bernstein told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the stimulus packages were “integrally contributing to some of the remarkable economic statistics” posted during President Joe Biden’s time in office.

 

“Let me start by underscoring some of the points that the president made in his op-ed earlier this week, which is targeting precisely what you asked about there,” Bernstein outlined. “I mean, this is a president who grew up in a family where high gas and grocery prices were kitchen table issues. So, of course, we’re doing all we can to help on the price front — particularly gas at the pump, but in other commodities as well.”

 

“Now, of course, as you said, Vladimir Putin’s unjust invasion of the sovereign nation of Ukraine is all over that issue, and we’re hearing today some reports that OPEC may step up and compensate for some of the lost Russian barrels. We can’t wait on the sidelines,” he added.

 

Co-host Willie Geist asked if the stimulus packages contributed to the inflation.

 

Bernstein then acknowledged the American Rescue Plan contributed to some of the inflation but said he wasn’t “here to at all look at this in any sort of one-sided way.”

 

“The inflation that we’re observing is very much a function of high levels of demand and constrained supply,” he replied. “Now, that relates to COVID, that relates to some things that certainly weren’t in the picture when the American Rescue Plan went into place — things like Omicron and other variants, things like Russia’s invasion, things like China’s lockdown.”

 

Bernstein continued, “And sure, fiscal policy is always going to contribute to the demand side of the equation, but I’m not here to at all look at this in any sort of one-sided way. When you’re talking about the rescue plan, it is essential to balance some of the heat that fiscal policy helped to create along with that list of benefits.”

Far-right conspiracists have spread false claims that the Buffalo and Uvalde shootings were hoaxes.

False flag claims are often used to push against gun control or frame incidents as government plots.

Experts told Insider these false flag accusations have increased and mutated in recent years.

Almost immediately after news broke of the deadly mass shootings this month in Buffalo and Uvalde, far-right extremists and QAnon influencers began spreading false claims that these killings were a hoax. The reaction has become common among conspiracy theorists, who have repeatedly taken tragedies and distorted them to fit their extremist narratives.

 

The day of the Buffalo shooting on May 14, when a white supremacist killed 10 people at a supermarket, one prominent QAnon influencer told his 84,000 followers on Telegram that the incident was a false flag operation. Following the shooting last week at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, in which 21 people including 19 children died, the same influencer reiterated his claims that the killing was a false flag. Another prolific, anti-Semitic QAnon conspiracist claimed that "false flag shootings abound" on the day of the Uvalde killings.

 

These baseless conspiracy theories circulated so widely in some online circles that fact-checkers needed to debunk the blatantly false claims.

 

Regardless of the amount of genuine video and photo evidence circulating, false flag claims now spread after every shooting. Experts told Insider these sorts of baseless conspiracy theories have started spreading easier and quicker across social media platforms in the last few years. They're being used by conspiracists to push back against gun control laws and frame tragedies as nefarious government plots against citizens, aligning with other far-right conspiracies like QAnon.

 

Sara Aniano, a disinformation and extremism researcher, told Insider she's seen a number of wild false flag accusations. Some of them echo false claims spread after previous tragedies, such as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, where far-right conspiracists accused parents of victims of being crisis actors. Far-right and conspiracist communities have also spread false flag accusations about numerous incidents besides shootings, including everything from the September 11 terrorist attacks to the Capitol Riot in January 2021.

 

Aniano said the far-right's prevailing theory is that these recent shootings were false flags – incidents blamed on one entity when actually perpetrated by another – or government psy-ops "orchestrated intentionally by the FBI or CIA" to support gun control.

 

Aniano said one worrisome component of these newer false flag theories is that some of the believers think everyone involved isn't a crisis actor, and some people did die in these attacks. Conspiracists promoting these allegations have shifted the narrative because it's easier for their followers to believe that children actually died than that they were all crisis actors, Aniano said.

 

"They just don't believe the shooting was done organically," Aniano said. "The narrative there is that the government is deliberately killing children in order to push gun control laws."

Far-right conspiracist and InfoWars host Alex Jones has also lost numerous defamation suits from parents of Sandy Hook victims in recent years, after he falsely claimed their children were not killed in the shooting and that crisis actors were used.

 

Jared Holt, a resident fellow at the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensics Research Lab, told Insider he's also seen false flag accusations circulating following the shootings this month, including one trying to connect the shootings with the upcoming US midterms "as a way to make Republicans look bad."

 

False flag theories serve multiple purposes for believers, Holt said. They can create "cognitive distance" between the tragedy and the adherent's own ideologies, and they can be used to validate pre-existing conspiracy theories that people may already believe.

 

Many other far-right conspiracy theories, including QAnon, revolve around the idea that a shadowy group of global elites is pulling the strings behind the scenes or orchestrating events. Claims of false flag attacks easily fit into those narratives, giving conspiracists an easy framework for convincing followers that new shootings or attacks are part of those broader conspiracies.

 

Holt said one shift with the spread of baseless claims like the false flag conspiracy theories nowadays is how they're disseminated and manufactured.

 

"Not so long ago, people were turning to radio hosts or specific bloggers to get that kind of material," Holt said. "In the modern internet, anyone can post anything and take their shot at trying to go viral, or they can sort of crowdsource the theory."

 

Online conspiracy theory communities now have an immediate reflex to push out accusations into the broader discourse as they expand on each other's claims and reinforce their beliefs, Holt said.

 

"You can kind of watch these things get built in real-time in these communities as people chat back and forth," Holt said. "There's a communal aspect that bonds people who believe in theories like this."

Joe Biden sanctions Vladimir Putin yachts on 99th day of Ukraine war

President Biden unveiled new sanctions Thursday targeting influential Russians and President Vladimir Putin’s yachts on the 99th day of Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine — but two oligarchs linked to his son Hunter Biden again were spared.

The slow rollout of sanctions comes despite the president threatening “swift and severe” penalties ahead of the invasion, which began Feb. 24.

New US-targeted individuals include the steel and gold-mining oligarch Alexey Mordashov, Putin-linked money manager Sergei Roldugin, billionaire property developer God Nisanov, electronics executive Evgeny Novitsky, banker Sergey Gorkov and Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

The Treasury Department also sanctioned two yachts that Putin allegedly co-owns and the Monaco-based yacht brokerage Imperial Yachts and its Russian CEO, Evgeniy Kochman.

The US released photos of the Russian leader’s alleged pleasure boats — the Russia-flagged Graceful and Cayman Islands-flagged Olympia — but did not specify their current whereabouts.

“Putin has taken numerous trips on these yachts, including a 2021 trip in the Black Sea where he was joined by Alyaksandr Lukashenka, the OFAC-designated corrupt ruler of Belarus, who has supported Russia’s war against Ukraine,” the department added.

Washington also “targeted two additional yachts linked to Putin, Shellest and Nega, which are owned by the Russian company Non-Profit Partnership Revival of Maritime Traditions,” the Treasury Department said.

US economic sanctions can have a global bite and result in companies and individuals being unable to easily transact business or retrieve assets.

Money manager Roldugin was described by the Treasury Department as Putin’s financial “middle-man” and a “close friend and part of a system that manages President Putin’s offshore wealth.”

“The two have known each other for over four decades, and Roldugin is the godfather to one of Putin’s daughters,” the department said in a statement.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with Biden on Thursday morning after the latest sanctions were announced and then briefed reporters on the White House driveway.

Stoltenberg hailed both the “unprecedented level of economic sanctions” against Russia, which helped send the country’s economy into steep decline, and the extent of US military aid to Ukraine.

“NATO also has a responsibility to prevent this war from escalating to become a full fledged-war between Russia and NATO that will cause even more death, even more destruction, even more damage,” Stoltenberg told reporters. “And that’s the reason why we made it clear that NATO is not party to the conflict … [but] we support Ukraine to defend itself.”

Biden on Tuesday confirmed plans to send powerful missiles to Ukraine as part of a new $700 million package to help defend eastern regions of the country, where Putin refocused his attack after failing to quickly capture capital city Kyiv.

The NATO secretary general said the US giving Ukraine powerful rockets would help “ensure that Ukraine remains as an independent sovereign democratic nation in Europe and that President Putin is halted from his aggressive actions.”

It remains unclear why Hunter Biden’s alleged Russian business associates — the billionaire oligarchs Yelena Baturina and Vladimir Yevtushenko — eluded the latest round of US sanctions against members of Russia’s business elite.

Baturina, whose wealth derives largely from construction, in 2014 paid a firm associated with Hunter Biden $3.5 million, according to a 2020 report written by Republican-led Senate committees. She is the widow of former Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov, and documents from Hunter Biden’s laptop indicate she may have attended a 2015 dinner in DC with then-Vice President Joe Biden.

Yevtushenkov, who owns a nearly 50% stake in Russian conglomerate Sistema — which has telecom, retail, banking, food and health interests — faces UK sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but hasn’t yet been targeted by the Biden administration. He met with Hunter Biden in 2012 at Moscow’s Ritz-Carlton hotel, but recently claimed they had no subsequent contact.
