Rhode Island bar apologizes for offensive Anne Frank meme on Facebook page

A Rhode Island bar has apologized for mocking Anne Frank’s death by posting an anti-Semitic meme on its Facebook page Friday that compared hot weather in the area to concentration camp ovens.

Referencing a heatwave rolling through New England, The Atlantic Sports Bar and Restaurant in Tiverton shared a black and white picture of the diarist who was killed by the Nazis in 1945.

“It’s hotter than an oven out there…and I should know,” read the accompanying text.(kek)

The bar was immediately slammed with angry comments, with some demanding a boycott of the business.

“Wow a racist pit,” Facebook user Amy Ann wrote on the restaurant’s page, according to Newsweek. “Don’t patronize until they apologize.”

“It’s disgusting, horrific, and you need to actually apologize to start,” wrote another irate poster. “And then again and again and again. I can’t get my head around who would make the meme or share it. Shame on you.”

The meme was quickly deleted and the owners waited more than a day before issuing a formal apology in the wake of the backlash.

“There is no excuse for the sharing of this post, and there is nothing we can do to rectify it, all we can do now is offer our deepest apology to those who were rightfully hurt by our actions,” the eatery wrote on its Facebook page. “The Atlantic Restaurant prides itself on being a tolerant, inclusive, and safe space for all people.”

Robert Trestan, a regional Anti-Defamation League regional director, ripped the business in a statement to the outlet.

“There is simply no excuse for posting a vile antisemitic message like this,” he said. “Management and ownership should immediately educate themselves about the history of the Holocaust and stop the perpetuation of harm.”

As of Tuesday, the restaurant’s Facebook page was inactive.

Transgender Swimmer Lia Thomas Loses Bid for NCAA ‘Woman of the Year’

Infamous transgender swimmer Lia Thomas finally lost a race after the NCAA chose someone else for its Woman of the Year award this year.

The hulking Thomas, a biological male, was nominated for the award by the University of Pennsylvania early this month and was one of 577 nominees for the honor.

Thomas’ performance shocked college sports and brought theire of teammates, 16 of whom joined in an anonymous letter to complainabout the “unfair advantage over competition in the women’s category” that Thomas represented.

“Biologically, Lia holds an unfair advantage over competition in the women’s category, as evidenced byher rankings that have bounced from #462 as a male to #1 as a female,” the letter said.

Another teammate later added, “You can tell he is mentally ill. I saw the video and was so disgusted. Lia identified as a woman, but she is not a female. That is a fact. It doesn’t matter how you feel.”

Women’s tennis legend Martina Navratilova also blasted the NCAA over Thomas’s new records and said an “asterisk should accompany the swimmer’s name.”

Democrat-appointed judges have helped empty Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facilities, releasing a convicted illegal alien killer and another convicted for burglary.

Amidst the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, left-wing open borders organizations filed lawsuits to empty ICE detention facilities claiming that illegal alien detainees were at grave risk of contracting the virus.

In 2020, Judge Terry Hatter ordered that ICE’s Adelanto, California, facility vastly reduce its detainee population, citing the coronavirus. Hatter was first appointed by former President Jimmy Carter.

Likewise, Judge Jesus Bernal ordered the release of illegal alien detainees at ICE facilities, ensuring that any detainee claiming to be “medically vulnerable” from the coronavirus could apply for release. Bernal was first appointed by former President Barack Obama.

The result has been a dramatic drop in ICE’s detainee populations at its Adelanto and Mesa Verde facilities. As of this month, the Adelanto facility holds just 47 illegal alien detainees on average after previously holding nearly 2,000 detainees. At the Mesa Verde facility, only 52 detainees remain on average after previously holding nearly 400 detainees.

Two illegal aliens who took advantage of the judicial-ordered releases were illegal aliens Arody Ramos Tome, convicted of first-degree murder in 1984, and Marvin Cua, convicted of burglary in 2018.

In Tome’s case, “at the age of seventeen, [he] pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder with an enhancement for weapon use, one count of first-degree murder with an enhancement for weapon use, and one count of kidnapping for purposes of robbery,” court records state.

Meanwhile, Cua was recently shot and killed by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said Cua was armed and had been involved in a confrontation with officers. The shooting happened when officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Widespread prison release is part of a fierce jailbreak agenda by left-wing non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the open borders lobby.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which helps with releases from ICE facilities, held a “community training” seminar in March where activists detailed their “free them all” goals including defunding ICE and lobbying President Joe Biden’s administration to close ICE facilities.

Canada’s Trudeau Declares War on Fertilizer, Following the Footsteps of Sri Lanka

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ignored cries of anger and desperation from farmers and provincial officials last weekend by pressing ahead with a climate change agenda that will dramatically reduce Canada’s use of fertilizer — the same ruinous strategy that drove Dutch farmers into revolt and destroyed the agriculture of Sri Lanka.

The Toronto Sun reported on a dismaying Friday meeting of federal and provincial ministers, in which the latter could not convince the Trudeau administration to show any “flexibility” in its emissions targets, not even with a global food crisis on the horizon:

Several provincial governments, and organizations representing farmers have asked for emissions reductions from fertilizer to be measured via intensity – how much food is produced compared to the amount of fertilizer used. The Trudeau government is demanding an absolute reduction in emissions, which farmers say will result in less food being produced at a time when the world can ill afford it.

“The world is looking for Canada to increase production and be a solution to global food shortages. The Federal government needs to display that they understand this,” Alberta minister Nate Horner said.

“We’re really concerned with this arbitrary goal,” Saskatchewan’s David Marit said.

Although Canadian farm organizations warn the Trudeau plan will significantly reduce crops, slash the income of farmers, and increase Canadian grocery prices, Trudeau officials essentially said farmers would get used to their reduced allocation of fertilizers and devise new methods of growing “sustainable food.”

The Toronto Sun noted Trudeau’s plan is similar to the one that touched off massive protests from farmers in the Netherlands. The Dutch, in turn, took a page from the “Freedom Convoy” protests against vaccine mandates in Canada, using their farm vehicles to block highways and city roads.

Canada’s Post Millennial (PM) saw the Dutch revolt as “a warning sign to those across the pond in Canada for what might come if Trudeau gets his way.”

PM cited reports that estimated Canadian farmers could lose $48 billion by 2030 if Trudeau’s plan is implemented, due to both lost income from reduced crop yields and the increased cost of using “green” fertilizer.

An even more disturbing example is Sri Lanka, whose corrupt and incompetent socialist government banned chemical fertilizers on environmentalist grounds last year, bankrupting farmers and leaving the once-bountiful island on the brink of starvation.

International media aligned with the Green movement prefer not to dwell on how Sri Lanka’s deranged fertilizer ban contributed to the complete collapse of its government and economy – but the Sri Lankan people most certainly remember, banging their empty pots and pans together during massive street demonstrations to protest food shortages. Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh Doubles Down on Pro-Life Stance

Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh refused to back down after pro-abortion supporters were angered by his pro-life comments last week.

Harbaugh appeared as the keynote speaker at the July 17 Plymouth Right to Life dinner and auction at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan, where he asserted that America needs more respect and civility in political discussion especially where it concerns abortion.

“I believe in having the courage to let the unborn be born. I love life. I believe in having a loving care and respect for life and death. My faith and my science are what drive these beliefs in me,” Harbaugh said during his address.

The comments infuriated leftists who spent the following week attacking Harbaugh for his pro-life views.

But Harbaugh won’t be cowed by pressure on social media. This weekend he told ESPN that he would continue encouraging family members and players to let a pregnancy follow through, even if it is unplanned.

“I’ve told [them] the same thing I tell my kids, boys, the girls, same thing I tell our players, our staff members. I encourage them if they have a pregnancy that wasn’t planned, to go through with it, go through with it,” Harbaugh said on Saturday. “Let that unborn child be born and if at that time, you don’t feel like you can care for it, you don’t have the means or the wherewithal, then Sarah andI will take that baby.”

“Faith, family, football… those are my priorities. I just think that … the abortion issue is one that’s so big that it needs to be talked about. It needs serious conversation. What do you think? What do I think? What do others think?” the coach continued.

“It’s a life-or-death type of issue. And I believe in, and I respect, people’s views. But let’s hear them,” he added. “Let’s discuss them because there’s passion on both sides of this issue. So when you combine that with respect, that’s when the best results come. … [I’m] just contributing to that conversation and that communication, which I think is really important, in my opinion.”

He reiterated his point, concluding, “Any player on our team, any female staff member or any staff member or anybody in our family or our extended family … that doesn’t feel like after they have a baby they can take care of it, we got a big house. We’ll raise that baby.”

Critics should not be surprised that Harbaugh is standing up for life. His views on abortion are well known, and he’s commented on the topic many times before. In 2020, for instance, he praised people for being concerned about people’s lives during the coronavirus scare. But he added, “You see people taking more of a view of the sanctity of life. And I hope that can continue. I hope that continues and not just in this time of crisis or pandemic.”

Professor identifies ‘mystery’ corpse found on beach in 1948

One of Australia’s greatest mysteries may finally be solved, after a professor came forward claiming to have identified a body found on a beach nearly 75 years ago.

The hauntingly intriguing case of the Somerton Man has baffled researchers for decades.

The man’s body was found propped up against the seawall at Somerton Beach in Adelaide on December 1, 1948.

Inside his pocket was the printed words “Tamam Shud,” which means “finished” in Persian.

He had an unsmoked cigarette resting on his chest, his hair was perfectly in place and his double-breasted jacket was pressed and in perfect condition.

All sorts of theories have been put forward over the years, including that the Somerton Man was a spy.

The body was exhumed last year in a fresh bid to crack the case.

And now, 74 years after the Somerton Man was found, Professor Derek Abbott from the University of Adelaide says he knows who he was.

He claims to have identified the man as Carl “Charles” Webb, from Melbourne.

Prof. Abbott that Webb was born on November 16, 1905, making him 43 when he died.

He is said to have worked as an electrical engineer, the Advertiser reported.

He married Dorothy Robertson, who became known as Doff Webb. He left her in April 1947.

“He disappeared and she appeared in court, saying that he had disappeared and she wanted to divorce,” Colleen Fitzpatrick from Identifiers International said.

By 1951, she had moved to Bute in South Australia, raising the possibility that Webb had come to find her.

The forensics experts used hairs taken from a plaster ‘death mask’ to analyze his DNA.

They used that DNA to build an extended family tree, and were finally able to identify the Somerton Man as Webb on Saturday.

Webb has no death record.

“By filling out this tree, we managed to find a first cousin three times removed on his mother’s side,” Prof. Abbott told CNN.

“It just felt like I climbed and I was at the top of Mount Everest.”

Ms. Fitzpatrick added: “It’s like one of these folklore mysteries that everybody wants to solve and we did it.”

South Australia Police said there were no updates to the case.

In many ways, the potential discovery of the identity of the Somerton Man raises more questions than answers.

The police discovered a number of unusual items on his person back in 1948.

A half-eaten packet of Juicy Fruit was uninteresting, but analuminum comb, a product unavailable in Australia, suggested he had been in America recently. His clothing was also of an American brand, as police later discovered.

An Army Club cigarette packet in his pocket contained a number of cigarettes of another brand. This in itself wasn’t unusual: at the time it was fashionable to carry the case of an expensive brand of cigarettes, while refilling it with a cheaper brand. Police noted,however, that the Somerton Man did the opposite of this, filling the cheap packet with expensive cigarettes. This struck them as oddly deliberate, as if he was trying to play himself off as being of a lower class.

The case contained a number of items, including clothing that had all the tags and identification cut out of them.

Despite these findings, no poison was found in the man’s body, and the usual reactions to such a thing – vomiting and convulsions – were not evident. If he was poisoned, it was a fast-acting type, undetectable to medical science at the time.

A small rolled-up piece of paper was found in his pocket, which read “Tamam Shud”, Farsi for “it is ended” or “finished”.

The jagged paper was soon discovered to have been ripped from the final page of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, specifically a 1941 edition.

The book was a translation of verses by an 11th-century Persian poet, and popular in the Western world during the 1940s.

Police launched a nationwide appeal for information on the book with the missing page and, surprisingly, a man came forward claiming he found the book on the back seat of his vehicle, which was parked at Somerton Beach around the time of the man’s death. He often left the windows of his car open and thought little of it until he read about the search in the paper.

The book itself revealed a startling clue on the back page: an encrypted message, five lines long, each with nonsensical strings of letters. The second line is struck out, adding to the mystery.

Code-crackers from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Scotland Yard were tasked with decoding the message, but this came to nothing.

Candidate Harriet Hageman won the endorsement of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the highly contested Wyoming Republican primary that features embattled Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY).

“Harriet will be a rock-ribbed conservative congresswoman who will always defend the Constitution,” Cruz told Fox News. “She knows the importance of standing up for individual constitutional rights and fighting back against the federal government, which wants to seize more land and prevent people from being able to provide for their families.”

Hageman, who is already endorsed by former President Donald Trump, said she was pleased to be supported by a senator in the high chamber.

“In many ways, Texas and Wyoming face the same struggles against the relentless onslaught of the federal government, and it will be nice to know that I have another ally in the other chamber when I get to Congress,” she told Fox News.

Cruz’s endorsement of Cheney comes at a key moment in the Republican primary. In three weeks, Wyoming voters will decide the fate of Cheney, who has been dropping in the polls due to her alliance with Democrats on the partisan January 6 Committee. PredictIt’s betting odds on Tuesday show Hageman is favored to handily defeat Cheney by 95 cents on the dollar. Cheney’s odds of winning the contest are pegged at 5 cents on the dollar.

Hageman has surged with second quarter fundraising by capitalizing off Cheney’s alliance. Fifty-four percent of voters are less likely to support Cheney after she tangled with Trump on the committee. Trump won the state of Wyoming in 2020 with nearly 70 percent of the vote.

Adding to Cheney’s woes, the Wyoming Republican Party and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy have renounced Cheney. The Wyoming GOP voted in November to no longer recognize her as a Republican. Poll: Kari Lake Maintains Strong Double-Digit Lead in Arizona’s Gubernatorial Primary

Republican Kari Lake, a former Fox 10 Phoenix news anchor, maintains a comfortable double-digit lead over her closest opponent in Arizona’s Republican gubernatorial primary, according to a poll.

In the Data Orbital poll released Monday, 43.5 percent of respondents said they would vote for Lake – who is backed by former President Donald J. Trump – if the election were held when they were polled. The next closest candidate, Karrin Taylor Robson, took 32.4 percent of the response, placing her 11 points behind Lake. All remaining candidates failed to eclipse the five percent mark, as 4.7 percent of participants said they would support Matt Salmon, 2.2 percent would back Scott Neely, and 2.1 percent would vote for Paola “Z” Tulliani-Zen. Those who were undecided comprised 11.8 percent of respondents.

After the poll disclosed that Lake has Trump’s endorsement and again asked participants who they would vote for, she enjoyed a slight bump while all other candidates, except Neely, lost support. The portion of undecided voters grew to 13.9 percent.

Earlier this month, a Data Orbital poll showed a much closer race, with Lake and Robson at 39 percent and 35.3 percent, respectively. The latest poll indicates Lake is pulling away from her opponent in a convincing fashion.

“With nearly 250,000 Republican ballots returned, it is clear Kari Lake has maintained – and grown – her lead in the Gubernatorial race,” pollster George Khalaf said.

“With what we are seeing in our polling, and every other public poll released on the Governor’s race, one thing is clear: Kari Lake is on her way to securing the Republican nomination,” he added.

Data Orbital’s survey is consistent with more recent polls. A Cygnal poll, first obtained by the Gateway Pundit and published in a July 15 article, found Lake 11.7 percentage points ahead of Robson, at 45.4 percent and 33.7 percent, respectively. A CD Big Data poll from July 19 found an even larger gap between Lake and Robson, with the former anchor taking 43.1 percent of the response against Robson’s 28.8 percent.

While the former Fox 10 anchor touts the coveted Trump endorsement, former Vice President Mike Pence has placed his support behind Robson, initiating the most intense Republican Party proxy war that has taken hold throughout the 2022 primary cycle. On Friday, Trump held a rally for Lake and the leading Republican candidate for U.S. Senate in Arizona, Blake Masters, while Pence stumped for Robson the same day.
