Special operations forces need AI that can explain its decisions, says military data chief

 

TAMPA, Fla. — Developers need to build “ethical” artificial intelligence for military use, but that same technology must also explain what it does, according to the chief data officer of U.S. Special Operations Command.

 

“At some point we’ve got to get to explainable AI,” Thomas Kenney said May 19 at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference in Florida. “And explainable AI is a little bit different than saying ethical AI, because explainable AI means that algorithm needs to tell us why it made the decision it did.”

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the EPA has much more limited authority than previously thought to restrict emissions from power plants.

 

The lawsuit in this case was brought as a disagreement about the Clean Air Act, a law that tasks the EPA with protecting air quality by regulating pollution.

 

The act has been used by both the Obama and Trump administrations as justification for the executive branch to set guidelines for power plant emissions.

I posted the letters here. It turned out to be the kid next door, 18 yrs old and just starting college.

INFLATION HIT A NEW 40-YEAR HIGH UNDER BIDEN

 

It’s not just Independence Day weekend that will cost more this year - thanks to Biden, prices are up across the board.

May’s Consumer Price Index soared 8.6 percent compared to last year, exceeding economists’ expectations and reaching a new 40-year high.

Due to Bidenflation, the average U.S. family spent an extra $635 in May alone, which at an annualized rate would add up to an extra $7,620 over the next year.

With real wages declining 3.5 percent, after-tax income is projected to decline 5.6 percent compared to last year, marking the largest year-to-year decline since 1932.

With inflation ripping into family budgets, low-income Americans are struggling across the nation.

BIDEN’S POLICIES ARE TO BLAME FOR INFLATION

 

Biden’s radical tax-and-spend agenda is responsible for inflation.

A report from the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco found that Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus fueled inflation.

According to a June The Economist/YouGov Poll, 75 percent of Americans blame Biden for inflation, saying he bears “a lot” or “some” responsibility for higher prices.

Even liberal economists say Biden’s spending fueled inflation:

Former Obama economic advisor Steven Rattner: “The original sin” was passing the $1.9 trillion, which has “contributed materially to today’s inflation levels.”

Former Obama economist Jason Furman: Biden’s spending is “too big … don’t know any economist” who supported that much.

Biden’s Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen: Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus was one of the “factors that are involved in inflation.”

Financial journalist Jacob Goldstein: “The problem is the economy overheated. In retrospect, the government should not have put so much money into the economy.”

In essence this bill would allow a persons "surrogate" OR just 2 physicians to decide that is it "medically futile" to revive you and/or treat you. They could impose a DNR order on someone who's wishes were to be resuscitated.

 

Reasons for denying treatment:

-Treatment would be an extraordinary burden to the patient.

-The patient has an illness/injury that would cause death within 6 months, whether or not treatment is provided.

-The patient is permanently unconscious.

Then we got to talking about the crazy media and the crazy politicians. She basically said that EVERYONE realizes something is up. The GREAT AWAKENING has already happened is what I took away from it. Now it seems like not everyone knows that everyone else knows already, but EVERYONE is awake to at least realizing that shit is crazy. However, it seems clear that at least to the recently awakened, no one has any idea about how to resolve it or are aware that there are things to do and that there is a "plan".

The complaint shared with Secrets focuses on the move by the DNC and Hillary for America campaign to claim an attorney-client privilege in shielding work done by their law firm Perkins Coie and former partner Michael Sussman from Special Counsel John Durham.

That appeared to openly violate a pledge both made to the FEC to stop claiming attorney-client privilege over the over $1 million they paid the law firm for work done by Fusion GPS on the the so-called “Steele Dossier” and accept the election agency’s finding that the work was for opposition research not “legal advice and services.”

 

In giving that pledge to the FEC, the Clinton campaign and DNC paid a combined $113,000 fine to make the case go away.

 

But in renewing the claim that their relationship with Perkins Coie is protected by an attorney-client relationship, the campaign and party face having the FEC reopen their investigation and level even greater fines.

Four of 5 studies found significant associations with Rh-negative blood grouping. Both Ray et al [21] and Zietz et al [23] found that subjects with Rh-negative blood type were at lower risk of viral infection, severe illness, and mortality after infection. Our study, along with Leaf et al's [19], also found that Rh-negative subjects were at lower risk of infection, but did not find any impact on COVID-19–related illness or mortality. Although overall results might be mixed, there is a consistent theme on Rh-type and susceptibility to COVID-19 infection.

 

As mentioned previously, Hoiland et al [17] reported an association with blood types A and AB with worse clinical outcomes

 

Many studies report that blood type A might predispose one to increased susceptibility of infection with SARS-CoV-2, and type O and Rh-negative blood groups might be protective. Although this appears to be an emerging trend, the impact of blood type on clinical outcomes remains unclear.

 

 

Testing the association between blood type and COVID-19 infection, intubation, and death

 

Recent evidence suggests blood type may affect risk of severe COVID-19. We used observational healthcare data on 14,112 individuals tested for SARS-CoV-2 with known blood type in the New York Presbyterian (NYP) hospital system to assess the association between ABO and Rh blood types and infection, intubation, and death. We found slightly increased infection prevalence among non-O types. Risk of intubation was decreased among A and increased among AB and B types, compared with type O, while risk of death was increased for type AB and decreased for types A and B. We estimated Rh-negative blood type to have a protective effect for all three outcomes. Our results add to the growing body of evidence suggesting blood type may play a role in COVID-19.

 

In this study we found evidence for associations between ABO and Rh blood groups and COVID-19. Using data from NYP/CUIMC, we found moderately increased infection prevalence among non-O blood types and among Rh-positive individuals. Intubation risk was increased among AB and B types, and decreased among A and Rh-negative types. Risk of death was slightly increased among type AB individuals and was decreased among types A, B, and Rh-negative types. All estimates were adjusted for patient ancestry using self-reported race and ethnicity. Our results add further evidence to the previously discovered associations between blood types and COVID-19.

The Growing Availability of Signals Intelligence in the Public Domain

Cortney Weinbaum, Steven Berner, and Bruce McClintock

SIGINT, or signals intelligence, is intelligence gathered

from communications, electronics, or foreign instrumen-

tation1 and has traditionally been considered an inher-

ently governmental function. Historically, only govern-

ment had the financial means and the legal authority to conduct

SIGINT activities, and, in our experience, many members of

the U.S. government still hold this opinion today. We tested this

viewpoint by conducting a market scan to seek examples of how

new technologies, innovations, and behaviors are challenging the

existing government-only paradigm. We examined the breadth of

technologies available now and reported to be released in the near

future to understand the capabilities each provides, which audience

or market each serves, and what implications each may have for

government policy and practices.

This was an exploratory effort, rather than a comprehensive

research endeavor. We relied on unclassified and publicly avail-

able materials to find examples of capabilities that challenge the

government-only paradigm. We identified ways these capabilities

and trends may impact the U.S. government in terms of emerging

threats, policy implications, technology repercussions, human capi-

tal considerations, and financial effects. Finally, we identified areas

for future study for U.S. and allied government leaders to respond

to these changes.

During our market scan, we found examples of SIGINT

capabilities outside of government that are available to anyone. The

capabilities we found have applications in maritime domain aware-

ness; radio frequency (RF) spectrum mapping; eavesdropping, jam-

ming, and hijacking of satellite communications; and cyber surveil-

lance. Most of these capabilities are commercially available, many

are free, and some are illegal. In our view, the existence of both

legal and illegal markets and capabilities results in an environment

where SIGINT has been democratized, or available to anyone.

 

About the Authors

Cortney Weinbaumis a management scientist at the RAND Corpora-

tion. She has spent 14 years in the Intelligence Community and Department

of Defense improving policies, practices, and technologies. Previously, she

served as an intelligence officer and program manager developing radio

frequency and electromagnetic measurement and signature intelligence

(MASINT) collection systems.

Steven Berneris a senior engineer at the RAND Corporation. For nine

years he led RAND’s work for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency,

including developing a strategy and roadmap for NGA’s research and

development programs. Mr. Berner has over 40 years of experience in

satellite and aerospace programs addressing the overlap of technology,

policy, and national security.

Bruce McClintockis an adjunct policy analyst at the RAND Corporation

and a retired U.S. Air Force Brigadier General. He served as a special

assistant to the commander of Air Force Space Command and as the senior

defense official and defense attaché in the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, Rus-

sia. He is a command pilot with over 3,500 hours in 35 different aircraft

and experience with national security space operations.

After years of revelry with flashy cars, blond women and high living, the owner of the two Orlando-area Rachel's men's clubs was arrested Wednesday on charges of racketeering, conspiracy, prostitution and money laundering.

 

James Veigle, 56, of Winter Park is accused of turning the two strip clubs into sexual fantasy lands for big spenders.

 

It has been clear for months that Veigle was the principal target in a vice investigation that already has snared 34 people, most of them Veigle's former employees. His attorneys had been negotiating his surrender for weeks.

 

Shortly before he surrendered at the Orange County Jail, Veigle told the Orlando Sentinel that he planned to fight the charges.

 

"We've been shadow boxing for eight months," Veigle said. "It's a time of reckoning."

 

He said that he had done nothing improper. He insisted that any illegal acts at his clubs in Casselberry and south Orange County had been the work of employees.

 

"I was going to get a Richard Nixon mask and go, 'I am not a crook,' " he joked.

 

Veigle, 56, a real estate, restaurant and nightclub entrepreneur worth an estimated $10.6 million, is charged with 13 counts by the Office of Statewide Prosecution. According to the charges, customers could buy sex and drugs at the clubs if they had enough money and knew the right people.

 

"The bottom line was his club ran on the premise of catering to customers," said Rick Bogle, chief assistant statewide prosecutor in Orlando. Employees "gave customers what they wanted. If they wanted girls who would fondle them, touch them, have sex with them, that's what they provided. If they wanted girls to go home with them, that's what they provided."

 

Veigle is charged with personally taking part in five acts of prostitution. He's accused of paying one dancer to have sex with three customers: a food company executive, an auto dealer and a third man identified only by his first name.

 

He's also charged with arranging for two other women to perform sex acts for two other customers: a soft-drink executive and a professional athlete.

 

Most of the money-laundering counts relate to prostitution as well, but two are tied to cocaine sales.

 

Veigle is not accused of selling or using drugs. Instead, prosecutors allege that undercover agents got club managers to give them cash advances of up to $1,800 on credit cards after the managers had been told the agents wanted money to buy cocaine.

 

Agents then used the cash to make three drug purchases.

 

If convicted on all counts, Veigle could be sent to prison for more than 170 years.

 

"It's easy to allege something," said defense attorney Harrison "Butch" Slaughter. "They can't prove it."

 

Veigle surrendered at the Orange County Jail at 3:15 p.m. as part of a pre-arranged deal with the Office of Statewide Prosecution. He stepped out of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, walked through a gaggle of reporters, was handcuffed, fingerprinted and photographed.

 

A little over an hour later, he was released from jail on a $1 million bond.

 

The high bond amount angered Veigle, but he said prosecutors had threatened to send out a SWAT team to his eight-acre lakefront estate to arrest him unless he agreed to that amount.

 

Most of the bond $900,000 was secured by two Seminole County warehouses put up by friend and Rachel's investor Ed Quinn. Veigle only had to pay $10,000 – 10 percent of the remainder.

 

Thirteen people all but one of them an employee were charged with racketeering in July. They included managers and dancers, people snared in a six-month undercover investigation at the clubs in Casselberry and south Orange County.

 

Virtually all of those suspects are cooperating with prosecutors.

 

The only suspects charged Wednesday were Veigle and the corporations that own the Rachel's in south Orange County and the Casselberry Rachel's, which was closed earlier this month.

 

Veigle also owns a club in West Palm Beach that has not been charged with any crimes.

 

Prosecutors originally insisted that Veigle not be allowed back in the Orlando area clubs while he awaited trial. That demand, however, fell during negotiations with Slaughter.

 

Today will be "business as usual" for Veigle, Slaughter said. His client was all smiles when he walked out of the jail.

 

"They're very nice in there," Veigle said.

Even with Donald Trump not in office, QAnon beliefs continue to infect politics.

Why it matters

 

The debunked conspiracy will be in play during the upcoming midterm elections, but that doesn't mean you have to fall for it.

 

QAnon, a fringe right-wing conspiracy theory centered on former President Donald Trump, didn't fade away when he left office. Instead, belief in the wild conspiracy persists and continues to play a part in the political discourse, whether Americans realize it or not.

 

The QAnon conspiracy, which first surfaced in October 2017, falsely purports that Trump was fighting a hidden war against a cabal of Satanist pedophiles in Hollywood and the Democratic Party. The nonpartisan Public Religion Research Institute a nonprofit that researches the intersection of religion, culture and public policy released a study in February showing that nearly 16% of Americans believe the core QAnon conspiracy.

 

"QAnon has evolved from a movement centered around Trump leading a secret military intelligence operation to save the world, into a movement that not only doesn't need Trump but doesn't even need the iconography it developed over the past four years," said Mike Rothschild, conspiracy researcher and author of The Storm Is Upon Us, which provides a history of the QAnon conspiracy theory.

 

Conspiracy theories can be dangerous and even deadly as seen during the COVID-19 pandemic, with vaccine misinformation playing a role in some people succumbing to the virus. Despite being repeatedly debunked, belief in the QAnon conspiracy continues to infect areas of politics beyond Trump. So far this year, aspects of the conspiracy have seeped into protests, a Supreme Court hearing and legislation.

 

"Its mythology of secret pedophile rings suppressed cures and technology, massive corruption and fraud propelling a [purportedly] decrepit Joe Biden into office, and COVID being a hoax, have infected every aspect of mainstream conservative politics and culture," Rothschild added.

 

With the midterm elections coming up, the conspiracy is likely to continue popping up in campaigns and on social media feeds. Being able to recognize its influence may make it easier to spot, and avoid, in the future.

U.S. Military Destroys Child Trafficing Tunnels in South Carolina

 

The White Hat partition of the U.S. military has found and destroyed Deep State-controlled deep underground military bunkers, or DUMBs, in South Carolina, a source in Gen. David H. Berger’s office told Real Raw News.

 

On Thursday the MSM and USGS seemed shocked that a modest earthquake swarm struck near Columbia, S.C., an area not known for seismic activity, with the strongest rattle registering 3.6 on the Richter Scale. The quakes, which included a magnitude 3.4 aftershock, were the most powerful to hit the Palmetto State in decades.

 

Our source, however, claims the thunderous booms were not earthquakes at all. Rather, the tremors felt and heard across much of South Carolina were caused by a White Hat operation to collapse a labyrinth of subterranean tunnels that once housed victims of Deep State child trafficking cartels.

 

According to him, an unnamed tipster on 26 June reached out to the general’s office with an alarming allegation. He claimed to have GPS coordinates to the entrance of a cavernous nexus of child trafficking tunnels a few miles from Lugoff, S.C., a sleepy community of 7,000 souls near to the Wateree River, which flows into the Atlantic. The tipster alleged that Deep Staters, including the late Hillary Clinton, had used the underground tunnels and caves to temporarily house abducted children prior to sending them downriver, where they were put aboard ships bound for Western Europe and sold to affluent foreigners. The tipster, who seemed to have a wealth of knowledge, said the tunnels had gone unused since 2019, but that over 2,500 children were moved through them between 2012-2019.

 

Gen. Berger, our source said, initially dismissed the tipster’s claims as bullshit, as he had a tough time believing that the Deep State could have orchestrated such an operation in South Carolina, a conservative, Republican stronghold. But the tipster’s specificity ultimately prompted Gen. Berger to investigate the claim.

 

On 27 June, a Marine reconnaissance platoon visited the GPS coordinates and found an earthen berm—a cave mouth concealed behind a mass of boulders.

 

“The Marines reported back to Gen. Berger, and he then contacted White Hats in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A day later, they joined the Marines, set explosives to clear the debris, and uncovered a tunnel that descended 550’ into the depths of the earth,” our source said.

 

That tunnel, he added, opened into a spiraling network of deep earth chasms and chambers, which, though deserted, had ample evidence that children had in the past been imprisoned there. They found children’s clothes, stuffed animals, LEGO toys, jigsaw puzzles, dolls, and makeshift beds covered in dust. Here and there the Marines found shackles affixed to cave walls. The expansive tunnel system stretched miles in every direction.

 

“They requested permission to demolish the tunnels, so they couldn’t’ be used in the future,” our source said.

 

Gen. Berger told S.C. Governor Henry McMaster of his findings and intent to collapse the tunnels. He said the demolition would likely register as a small earthquake but that any detonation would be attenuated to avoid damaging structures in nearby towns. The Deep State’s incursion into South Carolina had been extensive enough to call for multiple demolitions that might alarm nearby residents.

 

On 29 June, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers rigged explosives and began collapsing the child trafficking tunnels.

 

“The explosions registered as earthquakes—this was expected. But no one was harmed. The Deep State can no longer use South Carolina to house and ship children for child slavery,” our source said in closing.

Kofa Mining District

 

The Kofa mining district lies in the southern part of the Kofa Mountains of central Yuma County (Figure 4). The name was derived from the contraction of "King of Arizona," the name of the most prominent and famous gold mine in the district. The mountains were earlier, and locally still are, called the S. H. Mountains, the initials reportedly being derived from various names such as Short Horn (Blake, 1893), Stone House (Darton, 1925) and another more vulgar name attributed to early soldiers or prospectors to whom the small peaks behind the larger spires resembled outhouses (Barnes, 1935). A narrow, poorly-defined gap in the rocks separates the Kofa Mountains from the Tank Mountains to the south.

The mineralization in the Kofa district consists mainly of fine-grained gold and silver in quartz and brecciated wall rock with some local and minor copper and lead mineralization, and scheelite, in irregular fissure veins in the Mesozoic sediments. Considerable manganese oxides and minor fluorite also occur as gangue minerals. Some erratic and irregular manganese oxides have been prospected and mined in fracture zones in andesitic volcanics. Local, small, gold placers occur in the washes near the major gold mines.

 

The King of Arizona mine, the main producer of the district, was discovered in 1896 and was known as the Gleason before renamed, developed, and mined by the King of Arizona Mining and Milling Company. Blake (1898) gave a brief description of the early operations, noting the high grade values, up to some 40 ounces of gold per ton, in the upper workings. The mine continued operations to the middle of 1910 when economic ore played out in depth. Jones (1916) reported that the production of gold-silver bullion from the mine netted some $3.5 million dollars. The North Star Mine, a short distance to the north of the King of Arizona, was discovered in 1906 and worked by the Golden Star Mining Company from 1907 to mid-1911 when the profitable ore was exhausted. The recorded production of gold and silver from this mine was valued at about $1.1 million. Numerous other deposits of gold and silver with minor base metal sulfides have been worked through the years but produced, at best, only a few hundred tons of ore. Several ventures to reopen and work the King of Arizona mine have been unsuccessful. The tungsten and manganese operations resulted from the Government buying and premium price programs of the 1950s.

I didn’t design a fucked up system. I do try and do good within that system. The system is big, and very integrated with government, and international conglomerates. Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is spearheading an attempt by the "opposition" to disperse the Knesset, and the camp will bring a draft resolution for a vote on the matter on Wednesday, which will also entail holding fresh elections, Israeli media reported on Monday.

 

The former premier has been very vocal about his plans of toppling Bennett's cabinet, forcing the Israeli occupation into fresh elections, and possibly returning as Prime Minister for the third time. He held this post from 1996 to 1999 and then from 2009 until June 2021.

 

The legislation would need a majority of 61 MKs out of the body's 120 members to pass.

 

It is unlikely that the Likud has already decided to propose the bill for a preliminary vote this week, according to Israeli Channel 12, as the bloc wants to ensure that the bill would pass, otherwise, his plans on toppling Naftali Bennett's government would be suspended. Netanyahu, and anyone else for that matter, would be unable to propose a similar bill for another six months.

 

Netanyahu's Likud had planned on bringing the bill for a vote last month, but it postponed the proposal after the Ra'am party went back to the Bennett-Lapid coalition in the Knesset. Ra'am's decision deprived the opposition of having a simple majority that would have allowed for the passing of the bill.

 

With former Yamina member Nir Orbach pledging to vote against any bill aimed at toppling the government after leaving the party last week, the "opposition's" chances at securing a majority for their bill are incredibly low.

 

Orbach could have to go back on his promise and support the bill, according to reports.

 

However, in addition to Orbach, Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked has said she was also opposed to the amendment to "Israel's semi-constitutional Basic Laws" authored by Israeli "Justice" Minister Gideon Sa'ar.

 

This comes amid reports that Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is under pressure from his coalition partners to propose a bill that would bar any MK charged with a "serious crime" from becoming Prime Minister, which is clearly aimed at Benjamin Netanyahu.

 

If the said bill passes in the Knesset, former premier Benjamin Netanyahu would be barred from ever assuming the premiership again, Channel 12 reported.

 

The proposed amendment would block any lawmaker indicted for a crime that holds a minimum sentence of three years and "moral turpitude" from being tasked by the president with forming a cabinet.

 

The coalition led by Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had taken a hit, becoming a minority in Parliament after legislator Ghaida Rinawie Zoabi dropped out of the Knesset in late May for several reasons. She mainly cited the Israeli occupation police brutality perpetrated against Palestinians at journalist Shireen Abu Akleh's funeral.

 

The Meretz party MK leaving Bennett's coalition set it back to 59 out of 120 seats in the Knesset, making the coalition a minority, though that does not necessarily mean that the alliance is on the verge of collapse.

 

Shireen Abu Akleh, famed Al Jazeera journalist and veteran reporter, was murdered on May 11 when Israeli occupation forces storming the Jenin refugee camp, occupied West Bank, shot her with a live bullet to the head as she was covering the events of the storming.

A broke and extremely cash-strapped Sri Lanka halted all fuel sales except for essential services in a desperate attempt to manage a severe fuel shortage – allowing the government to buy some time and send two government officials to Russia to negotiate a fuel deal.
