A dark money group funded by a Swiss billionaire quietly granted tens of millions of dollars in 2021 to other dark money entities allied with President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party, tax forms revealed.

 

…The Berger Action Fund, a left-of-center advocacy and lobbying group, is affiliated with the private Wyss Foundation, a group that Democratic megadonor Hansjorg Wyss has bankrolled since 1998, records show. That same fund, which has no legal obligation to disclose donors, steered roughly $72 million in 2021 to dark money nonprofit advocacy organizations that support Biden and boosted Democratic congressional candidates during the 2022 midterm elections cycle, according to its 2021 tax forms…

 

Since 2016, the Berger Action Fund has contributed $339 million to left-wing nonprofit groups, disclosures show. Meanwhile, Wyss has been accused of violating federal law in the past through his political spending.

 

The Swiss billionaire may have "indirectly funded federal electoral advocacy through his nonprofit organizations," since foreign nationals are barred from donating to committees, Americans for Public Trust alleged in a May 2021 complaint to the Federal Election Commission. In April 2022, the conservative watchdog filed a lawsuit against the FEC that alleged it failed to act on the complaint. The case is pending in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

A light Ukrainian plane has crashed in Russia’s Bryansk Region, bordering Ukraine, the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) border guard said on Wednesday.

 

The pilot of the aircraft survived the crash and was detained by the border guard. The service did not specify whether the crashed plane was a military or a civilian one.

 

Imagery circulating online purports to show the detained pilot. The man appears to be donning a military-style garb and a camouflaged baseball cap.

US ally welcomes Russian Navy frigate

Russian Navy ships have paid avisit to Saudi Arabiafor thefirst time in around a decade, the Russian military said on Wednesday. In late March, the detachment, which consists of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov and the medium sea tanker Kama, dropped anchor off the coast of the East African nation of Djibouti.

 

According to a statement released by Russia’s Western Military District, the two vessels “made a working visit to the port of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.”

 

During their stay, the ships will replenish their fuel, drinking water, and food supplies, Russian military officials added.

 

The frigate, which can carrystate-of-the-art Zircon hypersonic cruise missiles, and the accompanying medium sea tanker began their voyage in January of this year, departing from the main base of Russia’s Northern Fleet, Severomorsk.

 

The detachment has since participated in two international naval exercises in the Indian Ocean, as well as the Arabian Sea, crossing the equator twice, the statement read.

 

From March 26 to 28, the two vessels were moored at the international seaport of Djibouti, with the aim of enhancing military cooperation between the two countries.

 

Djibouti and Moscow discussed, among other things, “issues related to ensuring safe navigation” off the coast of Africa and in the Red Sea region.

The plane crashed for “unknown reasons” near the village of Butovsk, located some 25 km away from the border, the guard said. The pilot tried to escape back to the Ukrainian territory yet was intercepted by a border patrol.

 

Earlier in the day, the Bryansk Region was attacked by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), according to local governor Aleksandr Bogomaz. The UAV dropped an explosive device in Suzemsky district of the region, which is directly bordering Ukraine, leaving at least one person injured.

 

Bryansk, as well as other Russian regions on the Ukrainian border, have repeatedly come under attacks by Kiev’s forces amid the ongoing hostilities between the two countries, which have been dragging on for over a year already. WHO reveals ‘staggering’ infertility statistics

Infertility affects one in six people worldwide, the World Health Organization has revealed in a new report. While the WHO could not determine if infertility has increased or decreased, the report comes amid warnings of declining sperm counts worldwide.

 

Published on Tuesday, the report stated that as of 2022, 17.5% of the global population experienced infertility at some point in their lives. To arrive at that figure, WHO researchers analyzed more than130 separate studies from 1990 to 2021, and found similar results across the world.

 

The average lifetime prevalence of infertility in high-income countries was 17.8%, compared to 16.5% in low- and middle-income countries.

 

“The report reveals an important truth: infertility does not discriminate,” WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a statement. “The sheer proportion of people affected shows the need to widen access to fertility care and ensure this issue is no longer sidelined in health research and policy.”

 

Dr. Pascale Allotey, director of the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Research Department at the WHO, described the findings as “staggering.”

 

Infertility is defined by the WHO as an inability to conceive a child after one year of regular unprotected sex.

 

The studydid not list any common factorsbehind the one-in-six figure. However, for both women and men, smoking, alcohol consumption, and obesity have all been linked to lower fertility. Age plays a role too, with women becoming less fertile from their mid-30s onwards, and male fertility falling from around 40. The report also did not identify whether infertility rates have increased or decreased in the time period studied. However, a landmark study published last November found that male sperm counts have fallen by 62% in the last 50 years. Average sperm counts have dropped from 104 to 49 million per milliliter, just above the threshold of 40, below which infertility is likely.

 

Like the WHO’s report, the sperm count study found similar results across different regions. Although it declined to speculate on what was causing the drop, other research has identified exposure to certain plastics and chemicals as the culprit, alongside the same dietary and lifestyle factors that cause infertility in both genders.

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—The Southern Poverty Law Center routinely brands mainstream conservative and Christian organizations “hate groups,” placing them on a map with chapters of the Ku Klux Klan, but most lawsuits aiming to hold the SPLC accountable for this alleged defamation have failed.

On Friday, however, a federal judge denied the SPLC’s motion to dismiss a defamation lawsuit, allowing the case to proceed.

The SPLC branded the Georgia-based Dustin Inman Society an “anti-immigrant hate group” in February 2018 after the SPLC had previously stated in 2011 that it did not consider the society a “hate group.” The society, named after a 16-year-old Georgia boy killed in a 2000 car crash caused by an illegal immigrant, aims to combat illegal immigration.

“After telling the Associated Press in 2011 that we were not a ‘hate group,’ the SPLC changed their mind and made us an ‘anti-immigrant hate group’ within days of their registering as active lobbyists against pro-enforcement, immigration-related legislation here in the Georgia Capitol,” D.A. King, the society’s founder and president, told The Daily Signal in an emailed statement Tuesday.

King claimed that the SPLC’s “goal was clearly to paint us as the extremists and to marginalize us in the eyes of state lawmakers and the media. That effort was largely successful.”

As I explain in my book “Making Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center,” the SPLC took the program it used to monitor the Ku Klux Klan—the Intelligence Project—and weaponized it against conservatives and Christians, branding them “hate groups” in an effort to raise money and demonize its ideological opponents. The SPLC has an endowment of more than $500 million and bank accounts in the Cayman Islands. Amid a racial discrimination and sexual harassment scandal in 2019 that led the SPLC to fire its co-founder, a former employee came forward, calling the “hate” accusations a “highly profitable scam.”

King’s lawsuit quotes Heidi Beirich—then-director of the Intelligence Project—who told The Associated Press in 2011 that the SPLC did not consider the society a “hate group,” but rather listed King as a “nativist.”

“His tactics have generally not been to get up in the face of actual immigrants and threaten them,” Beirich said. “Because he is fighting, working on his legislation through the political process, that is not something we can quibble with, whether we like the law or not.”

The lawsuit claims that the SPLC did not indicate that King or the Dustin Inman Society had changed their activities between 2011 and 2018—in fact, many of the statements and activities the SPLC cites as evidence that the society is a “hate group” date back to before 2011.

The lawsuit cites an SPLC definition for “anti-immigrant hate group” that dates back to 2020, which no longer appears on the SPLC website—although the center appears not to have adopted a new definition:

Anti-immigrant hate groups are the most extreme of the hundreds of nativist groups that have proliferated since the late 1990s, when anti-immigration xenophobia began to rise to levels not seen in the United States since the 1920s. Most white hate groups are also anti-immigrant, but anti-immigrant hate groups single out that population with dehumanizing and demeaning rhetoric. Although many groups legitimately criticize American immigration policies, anti-immigrant hate groups go much further by pushing racist propaganda and ideas about non-white immigrants.

While the SPLC brands the society an “anti-immigrant hate group,” it does not point to any specific evidence that King or the society “maligned an entire class of people” or fit the definition cited above. “Further, a cursory review of [Plaintiff] DIS’s website would have revealed that the Board of Advisors of [Plaintiff] DIS is a diverse group of Americans with a variety of racial and immigrant backgrounds,” the lawsuit alleges.

The latest revelations regarding Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information are stunning. For example, several of the former secretary of state’s “private” e-mails contain national-defense information so sensitive that it is classified at the highest levels.

 

Moreover, classified information so pervades the thousands of pages of e-mails communicated through and stored on Mrs. Clinton’s unsecured, homebrew server system that the court-ordered disclosure process has ground to a halt. Remember, Mrs. Clinton reviewed her e-mails before finally surrendering them to the State Department, and she initially insisted there was no classified information in them. Now, it turns out they were so threaded with classified information that the State Department and intelligence agencies have fallen hopelessly behind the court’s disclosure schedule: The task of reviewing the e-mails and redacting the portions whose publication could harm national security has proved much more complicated than anticipated. Thousands of remaining e-mails, and any embarrassing lapses they contain, will be withheld from voters until well into primary season.

 

So egregious have the scandal’s latest developments been that a critical State Department admission from last week has received almost no coverage: Eighteen e-mails between Mrs. Clinton and President Obama have been identified, and the government is refusing to disclose them.

To summarize, we have a situation in which (a) Obama knowingly communicated with Clinton over a non-government, non-secure e-mail system; (b) Obama and Clinton almost certainly discussed matters that are automatically deemed classified under the president’s own guidelines; and (c) at least one high-ranking government official (Petraeus) has been prosecuted because he failed to maintain the security of highly sensitive intelligence that included policy-related conversations with Obama.

 

From these facts and circumstances, we must deduce that it is possible, if not highly likely, that President Obama himself has been grossly negligent in handling classified information. He discussed sensitive matters on a non-government, non-secure e-mail system that could easily be penetrated by foreign governments (among other rogue actors). By doing so, he left an electronic- and paper-trail that was outside the government’s tightly secured repositories for classified information. He also personally indulged, and thus implicitly endorsed, Clinton’s use of private e-mail to do government business.

 

#related#Law enforcement investigations are supposed to proceed independent of political considerations, but I’d wager few people believe the decision whether to indict Mrs. Clinton will be made by Attorney General Loretta Lynch alone. It will be the president’s call. In making it, he may face a profound conflict of interest. A prosecution of Clinton might expose that Obama engaged in recklessness similar to Clinton’s, albeit on a far smaller scale. Moreover, Clinton would likely argue in her defense that the president, who is ultimately responsible for safeguarding classified information, not only authorized Clinton to use private e-mail but knowingly used it himself in order to communicate with Clinton.

 

As we’ve observed, Obama is already under immense political pressure not to permit an indictment that would doom his party’s presumptive presidential nominee. Now, factor in the embarrassment a prosecution could cause the president personally. Many have asked why Hillary Clinton has not been charged already. We may have our answer.

Missouri tornado death toll up to 5 as crews search rubble

 

ST. LOUIS (AP) — At least five people were killed an an unknown number of others were hurt when a large tornado tore through an area of southeastern Missouri before dawn on Wednesday, authorities said.

 

The twister caused significant destruction in and around the small rural communities of Glen Allen and Grassy, Bollinger County Sheriff Casey A. Graham said in a post on his office’s Facebook account.

 

At least five people were killed, Graham wrote, noting that he was withholding the names of the dead to make sure their families could be notified first.

 

Crews from several agencies are searching through the rubble of destroyed and damaged homes, authorities said.

Cash App Founder Bob Lee Killed In San Francisco

Bob Lee, the tech executive who created the mobile payment service Cash App was killed in San Francisco, California on Tuesday.

 

The 43-year-old was attacked and stabbed to death in the city’s Rincon Hill neighborhood around 2:30 a.m. Lee was then transported to a nearby hospital where he had succumbed to his wounds according to police.

 

No arrest has been made in relation to the murder, and police have not released any details about a suspect.

 

The news of his death was confirmed by Paul Bohm, the founder of the San Francisco based cryptocurrency company, MobileCoin, where Lee had been employed as the Chief Product Office since 2021.

Inger Eberhart, a member of the society’s board and its director of communications, is a black woman; Everette Robinson and Catherine Davis are also black; Mary Grabar is a legal immigrant from Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia); Maria Litland is a legal immigrant who appears on the Austrian Society of America website; and Sabine Durden-Coulter immigrated legally from Germany. Durden-Coulter lost her son in a 2012 car crash caused by an illegal immigrant (with no connection to the crash that killed Dustin Inman).

While the SPLC claimed not to have any knowledge of the society’s board in legal filings, the SPLC’s article on the society notes its “eight-member board of advisors.”

The lawsuit alleges that the SPLC twisted statements from King and Fred Elbel, another member of the society’s board, out of context.

The SPLC quotes King in a 2007 Georgia Republican Club meeting, warning that certain illegal immigrants are “not here to mow your lawn—they’re here to blow up your buildings and kill your children, and you, and me.” King sent The Daily Signal a link to the original report on the meeting, which shows that King was referring to illegal immigrants “from countries with known ties to terrorism.”

The SPLC also quotes Elbel’s words—in which the board member claims to “hate ’em all,” listing a broad swath of ethnic and other groups including White Anglo-Saxon Protestants—from a 2004 internal Sierra Club offshoot discussion group post Elbel says he intended as parody.

King sent a demand letter on Feb. 10, 2020, ordering the SPLC to retract its “hate group” accusation. The SPLC did not respond and continued to repeat the “verifiably false fabrication and accusation,” the lawsuit states.

The lawsuit notes that “by repeatedly claiming the mantle of specialized knowledge and expertise, and using a specific, fact-based definition to determine what a ‘hate group’ is,” the SPLC’s accusation “causes severe reputational damage and for the target to live in a climate of constant fear for personal safety and that of his family.”

The lawsuit cites the 2012 terrorist attack in which a man targeted the Family Research Council’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., after finding the council on the SPLC’s “hate map.” The man pleaded guilty to committing an act of terrorism and received a 25-year prison sentence. The SPLC condemned the attack, but has kept the Family Research Council on its hate map ever since.

The lawsuit also cites the March 2017 protest against Charles Murray, instigated by the SPLC’s accusation that Murray engages in “racist pseudoscience.”

The lawsuit also lists a plethora of statements the SPLC has made about the society, which King claims to be blatant falsehoods. Among other things, the SPLC has claimed the Dustin Inman Society was incorporated in 2003, when King in fact founded it in 2005; it has claimed that the DIS was previously known as the American Resistance Foundation; it has claimed that King worked on immigration issues since the 1990s, although he did not become interested in the issues until 2003; and it claimed King worked for the Georgia Coalition of Immigration Reduction in the 1990s, which he claims to be false.

“These admissions taken together show that Defendant SPLC not only fails to investigate or have expertise at all on groups it monitors, but instead shows reckless disregard for the truth and does not appear to perform any fact-finding at all, before labeling … DIS a ‘hate group,’” the lawsuit states.

King is seeking a trial, compensatory damages, punitive damages, and a permanent injunction ordering the SPLC to remove its accusations and issue a public retraction and apology.

While a judge dismissed a previous version of King’s lawsuit without prejudice in March 2022, the society’s president filed a new lawsuit in June. Judge W. Keith Watkins denied the SPLC’s motion to dismiss the new lawsuit on Friday. The judge’s ruling allows the lawsuit to proceed to the discovery phase, in which the society can demand the SPLC hand over documents to prove its case and the SPLC can demand society documents to defend itself.

In his statement on the judge’s ruling, King cited 2007 remarks from Mark Potok, at the time editor-in-chief at the SPLC’s Intelligence Report.

“Potok made the SPLC’s intentions on opposition clear when he admitted in a speech, ‘I want to say plainly that our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them,’” King told The Daily Signal. “That was and is the goal in attacking me and the Dustin Inman Society. We are a bit flattered in that we operate on personal funds and small donations.”

King noted that in this lawsuit, “We want to not only defend our own reputation, but maybe make the SPLC think twice before they smear other honest pro-enforcement Americans.”

More than 1.3 million Californians may be drinking high levels of manganese, enough to cause cognitive disabilities in children and Parkinson's-like symptoms in adults.

 

The discovery was made by researchers at the University of California - Riverside (UCR), who discovered the mineral is thriving in untreated wells throughout Central Valley.

 

The study inspected private wells and public water systems - with nearly half of the affected residents living in disadvantaged communities - and found that almost 89 percent are likely to access water highly contaminated with manganese.

 

While manganese is found in water supplies worldwide, the US is one of the only nations not enforcing a maximum level.

 

The research comes as the University of Los Angeles may have uncovered a link between lithium in drinking water and autism.

 

Samantha Ying, UCR soil scientist and principal study investigator, said in a statement: 'It is a relatively small number of people, compared to the total population of the state, who are getting the tainted water.

 

'But for them, the health risks are high.'

 

Recent studies have found exposure to excessive levels of manganese may trigger Parkinson's-like neurological symptoms as the mineral builds up in the basal ganglia area of the brain.

 

The team notes that residents could take matters into their own hands by purchasing treatment options that range from oxidation and precipitation filters to water softeners, chlorination, and reverse osmosis systems.

 

However, such devices for monitoring water quality can cost up to $400 annually.

 

'It is possible to purchase filters for manganese, but a lot of people cannot afford them. We are hoping people in these communities can be subsidized to buy treatment options,' Ying said.

 

The team chose to investigate Central Valley because it is recognized as one of the US's most productive and economically important agricultural regions and home to one-third of domestic well users in the state.

 

'These analyses demonstrate the need for additional well-monitoring programs that evaluate Mn and increased access to point-of-use treatment for domestic well users disproportionately burdened by associated costs of water treatment,' reads the study published in Environmental Science & Technology.

 

The study regarding lithium in drinking water found pregnant women who drank water contaminated with the mineral had a moderately higher risk of their offspring being diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.

 

Lead study author Beate Ritz said in a statement: 'Any drinking water contaminants that may affect the developing human brain deserve intense scrutiny.

 

'In the future, anthropogenic sources of lithium in water may become more widespread because of lithium battery use and disposal in landfills with the potential for groundwater contamination. The results of our study are based on high-quality Danish data but need to be replicated in other populations and areas of the world.'

 

Ritz worked with Danish researchers who analyzed lithium levels in 151 public waterworks in Denmark, about half of the country's water supply.

 

The team pulled from a nationwide database to find which systems supplied to homes with pregnant mothers from 1997 through 2013 and then compared 12,799 diagnosed with autism against 63,681 children who did not have an autism diagnosis.

 

Results showed that autism diagnosis rose accordingly to higher lithium levels.

 

'Compared to the lowest quartile of recorded lithium levels – in other words, those in the 25th percentile – lithium levels in the second and third quartiles were associated with a 24 to 26 percent higher risk of autism, the team shared in a press release.

 

'In the highest quartile, the risk was 46 percent higher compared to the lowest quartile.'

Speaking to reporters in the Chinese capital on Wednesday, Macron said: “We have decided since the beginning of the conflict to help the victim, and we have also made it very clear that anyone helping the aggressor would be an accomplice in breach of international law.”

 

Addressing the French community in Beijing, Macron noted that “China, with its close relationship with Russia, which has been reaffirmed in recent days, can play a major role” in ceasing the hostilities. The French head of state cited China’s opposition to the use of nuclear weapons, as well as the peace plan put forth by Beijing in late February.

 

Macron went on to argue that Europe “must not disassociate [itself], separate [itself] from China” economically.

 

On Thursday, the French president is expected to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart and some other top officials.

Relations between China and Russia are “at their highest point in history,” Putin declared during the talks.

Stoltenberg Pledges Ukraine Will Become A Member Of NATO

 

There was an awkward scene that played out at NATO headquarters in Brussels on Tuesday during the formal ceremony which made Finland the alliance's 31st member. With top Finnish officials in attendance, Ukraine's foreign minister was also there, alongside Secretary of State Antony Blinken. A group of protesters reportedly chanted just as Finland's flag was raised: "Ukraine in NATO!"

 

According to Politico, the Ukrainian top diplomat took the opportunity to state Kiev's goal:

 

Arriving at NATO headquarters in Brussels on the day Finland formally became a member of the alliance, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba offered congratulations and declared that "Ukraine is aiming at reaching the same goal, becoming a full member of NATO."

 

"It will be one of the topics of our conversations here in Brussels, of how can we move forward," he said.

 

"While we appreciate the practical support we receive from the alliance," FM Kuleba continued, he emphasized: "there is no better strategic solution to ensuring strategic security in the Euro-Atlantic region than the membership of Ukraine in the alliance."

 

This put pressure on Stoltenberg to address the elephant in the room, and the question was asked by a journalist from a Ukrainian outlet during a press conference. Below is how the NATO chief responded:

 

He added that Kyiv can win the war and become a full-fledged NATO member one day.

 

Responding to the Kyiv Independent at a news conference, Stoltenberg said that "NATO's position remains unchanged and that Ukraine will become a member of the alliance."

 

NATO's long-time leader emphasized that the "main focus" now is to ensure that Ukraine remains a sovereign, independent nation in Europe. "The first step toward any membership of Ukraine to NATO is to ensure that Ukraine prevails, and that is why the U.S. and its partners have provided unprecedented support for Ukraine," he added.

 

Of course, all of this is dangerously premised on what would in effect be Russia's collapse, given the nuclear-armed superpower would never allow Ukraine to become a full-fledged NATO member, even if to some degree its militarization by NATO has already taken place throughout the conflict.

 

And from the Western alliance's point of view, accepting Ukraine into NATO would automatically trigger Article 5 common defense, which is why it doesn't induct nations with simmering conflicts on their borders (or especially not while they're in the midst of a hot war). This means that certainly there would be at least a handful of holdout nations reluctant to approve any future application by Ukraine, given it would mean that nuclear conflict with Russia would be on the horizon.

Fire Breaks Out At Russian Defense Ministry Building In Moscow

 

Russian media has reported that a fire fire broke out at a building belonging to Russia’s Defense Ministry in the center of Moscow on Wednesday evening. TASS news agency was the first to report it, citing emergency services.

 

Widely circulating videos appear to confirm the report, though at this point the fire looks relatively small, coming from an office or offices inside the building. There are reports that it's an office on the fifth floor or above.

 

It's as yet unclear what the cause is - whether accidental or possibly a drone or sabotage incident.

 

In January, amid increasingly bold drone strike operations on Russian soil launched from Ukraine, the Russian military erected surface-to-air Pantsir batteries on some Moscow buildings, including the top of the defense ministry building.

 

The Drive reported at that time, "The official reason for the apparent deployments is unclear, but Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their ability to conduct strikes at extended ranges using various types of drones. There could be other explanations, including this just being part of an ostensible exercise of some kind."

REPORT: Hundreds Of LA Undercover Cops Sue City After Identities Leaked

 

Over 300 undercover police officers are reportedly suing the city of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) after their identities were released to a watchdog group who leaked them online.

 

Stop LAPD Spying Coalition, a watchdog group that claims to be “building power toward abolition of the police state,” leaked the personal information and photographs of more than 9,300 LAPD officers in a searchable online database, hundreds of whom were undercover police officers, the Associated Press (AP) reported.

 

While the city attorney’s office has maintained the agency was required to turn over records of the law enforcement officers, which includes a photograph and information on each officer, California law makes exemptions for safety or investigative reasons, the outlet reported.

 

Attorney Matthew McNicholas, who is representing more than 321 undercover officers, claimed that an exemption should have been made in the case of his clients who rely on anonymity to do their jobs. Not only do his clients now fear for the safety of themselves and their families, McNicholas stated that several investigations into gangs, drugs and sex traffickers have had to be stopped since the leak, AP reported.

 

McNicholas added that his clients can no longer work as undercover police officers and might not be able to work in any policing capacity going forward because of, what he has deemed negligent, disclosure.

 

The lawsuits filed with McNicholas follow separate lawsuits filed by the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union that represents the department’s rank-and-file officers. The union has sued Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore in an attempt to “claw back” the photographs of undercover officers and prevent similar leaks from happening in the future.

 

“We erred in the sense that there’s photographs that are in there that should not have been in there,” Moore conceded of the leak, AP reported, citing a report by the Los Angeles Times.

 

The Stop LAPD Spying Coalition describes its searchable database, entitled “Watch the Watchers,” as a “community resource that indexes LAPD’s official records of its officers, all of which LAPD made public through California Public Records Act requests.” The watchdog group has dismissed arguments that they have released “private data,” maintaining that policing should not be “shrouded in secrecy.”

Cash App founder Bob Lee murder: Business world 'in shock'

 

Elon Musk says crime in San Francisco is 'horrific'

 

Friends and former colleagues in the tech world mourned the death of Cash App founder Bob Lee on Wednesday, just hours after the CEO was stabbed to death in an apparently random attack.

 

Lee, 43, was killed early Tuesday morning in San Francisco, and his attacker has yet to be identified or apprehended. Twitter CEO Elon Musk called the crime situation in San Francisco "horrific" after hearing about the attack.

 

"Very sorry to hear that," Musk told a user referencing Lee's killing. "Many people I know have been severely assaulted. Violent crime in SF is horrific and even if attackers are caught, they are often released immediately."

 

Musk went on to tag the San Francisco district attorney to ask what she was doing to lower violent crime rates.

 

Jack Dorsey, who owns the parent company of Cash App, also expressed his condolences after confirming the murder on social media.

 

"It’s real. Getting calls. Heartbreaking," Dorsey announced. "Bob was instrumental to Square and Cash App. STL guy."

 

A number of other tech CEOs joined in mourning Lee after news of his death broke. Lee was the father to two daughters.

VP Biden’s Former Assistant: Classified Docs Left Unlocked in Penn Biden Center Closet

 

Classified documents were transported from then-Vice President Joe Biden’s safekeeping to the Penn Biden Center, where they were kept in an unlocked closet and remained accessible to center employees and potentially others, House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) revealed Tuesday after an interview with Biden’s former assistant, Kathy Chung.

 

Chung, who current Biden administration officials appear to blame for the mishandling of Biden’s classified documents, told Comer that Biden’s classified documents remained unsecured at the Penn Biden Center for years and remained accessible to her until May 2022.

 

“This story does not begin in November 2022, as represented by President Biden’s attorney,” Comer said in a statement. “[T]hen-White House Counsel Dana Remus tasked Kathy Chung with retrieving these boxes from the Penn Biden Center as early as May 2022.”

 

Public records reported by the New York Post suggest that Chinese Communist Party-linked individuals or entities donated at least $54 million between 2014 and 2019 to the Penn Biden Center.

 

According to a CNN source, the classified documents found at Biden’s “private office” at the center pertain to Iran, the U.K., and Ukraine, where the Biden family conducted business deals.

 

On Monday, Comer raised concerns about Biden’s classified document scandal in connection with the Biden family business schemes. “We don’t the know the true extent of what he [Joe Biden] has done,” Comer said. “All we know is he had classified documents scattered all over the place dating back to the time as U.S. senator.”

 

“There is one document in particular that I can tell you from my investigation of Biden family influence peddling that we are very concerned about with respect to the document that Hunter Biden sent to officials at Burisma in Ukraine,” Comer said. “It was a government document. We are concerned that it may have been one of the classified documents.”

 

Comer’s investigation comes as Chung was hired as Joe Biden’s assistant after a recommendation from Hunter Biden. Chung appears in numerous email threads on Hunter’s “laptop from hell,” including Hunter’s correspondence to Chung about being hired as Joe Biden’s assistant.

 

According to Legistorm, Chung worked for Joe Biden until January 19, 2017, right before Joe Biden left the vice presidency. However, she told Comer she was tasked by a former White House lawyer to access the documents as recently as May 2022, contradicting statements from Joe Biden’s lawyers about the timeline of events.

 

The White House has failed to fully explain why Joe Biden’s lawyers were looking through the Penn Biden Center papers on November 2 when the classified documents were discovered.

 

Notably, the classified document scandal was leaked to CBS News on January 9, weeks after the initial trove was found by Biden’s personal lawyers in November. The establishment media has reported at least three times that Biden and the DOJ agreed to hide the scandal from public view with likely no plans to disclose it.

 

Joe Biden is currently under investigation by Special Counsel Robert Hur in connection with classified documents found at his Wilmington home and in his office at the Penn Biden Center.

Here We Go Again: U.S. Intelligence Watching for Russia, China ‘Interference’ After Trump Indictment

 

U.S. intelligence officials are watching for possible political “interference” from Russia and China in the wake of the indictment of Donald Trump, a report by CNBC on Wednesday claims.

 

The suggestion that either power could be looking to influence proceedings in the U.S. mirrors previous allegations Russia somehow influenced American voters into putting Donald Trump into office, a conspiracy theory often referred to as RussiaGate.

 

According to CNBC, intelligence officials within unnamed agencies are watching “very closely” to see if either China or Russia makes any attempts to subvert U.S. democracy in the wake of Trump’s formal arrest and indictment.

 

One unnamed official is even cited as claiming there is “continuing talk” of Trump and the indictment in “Russian and Chinese hacker channels”, though no detail about who these alleged hackers are nor what these discussions actually consist of is offered.

 

However, Bret Schafer, who heads up a team examining, said “Russian, Chinese and Iranian information manipulation efforts” at the German Marshall Fund think-tank, told the publication that his team could see no evidence of any such interference at this point.

 

“We haven’t seen Russia or China, at least through overt channels, amplifying outright disinformation about President Trump’s indictment and arrest,” he said before claiming that there had been “opportunism” from “state-backed actors” who have argued that the incident shows that “rule of law is collapsing” in the U.S.

 

Meanwhile, the outlet claims the CIA declined to comment on the issue, while the FBI did not so much as respond.

One in Six People Globally Affected by Infertility, Claims World Health Organization

 

The World Health Organization (WHO) has estimated that a staggering one in six people around the globe experiences infertility at some point in their lives.

 

In the first report of its kind in over a decade, the WHO has revealed that the global average infertility rate, defined as a person not being able to achieve pregnancy after 12 months of regular unprotected sex, has reached 17.5 per cent.

 

While the UN agency was quick to warn that it could not reliably determine a trend line due to a lack of reliable reporting methods throughout much of the world, there were some significant differences when broken down by region.

 

The highest rate of infertility was recorded in the Western Pacific, which included countries such as China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, with the WHO finding that the region as a whole saw nearly one-quarter (23.2) per cent of its population experiencing infertility at some point in their lives.

 

This was followed by the Americas region, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, and South and Central America nations, which currently has an estimated 20 per cent infertility rate or one in five people. Meanwhile, the infertility rate in the European region, which included the UK and Russia, stood at 16.5 per cent.

 

The lowest recorded rate was in the Eastern Mediterranean region which covered most of North Africa and the Middle East at just 10.7 per cent. This was followed by the rest of Africa, which was recorded as having a 13.1 per cent infertility rate.

Scholz faces tax fraud probe

The German chancellor will be investigated for allegedly helping a bank hold onto millions of ill-gotten euros

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will be investigated by parliament forhis alleged rolein helping the Hamburg-basedWarburg Bank avoid repaying $48 million in illegal tax refunds. Scholz has already been probed for his possible links to the affair, and his party insists the latest investigation is politically-motivated.

 

“We will request a parliamentary committee of inquiry into the Scholz-Warburg tax affair in the German Bundestag in the first parliamentary week after the Easter vacations,” lawmaker Mathias Middelberg of the CDU party said at a press conference on Tuesday. Together with leftist opponents of Scholz, the center-right party has the majority needed to initiate such an investigation.

 

Scholz has already been questioned by the Hamburg state parliament twice about the affair, and is expected to be summoned back before the regional legislature at some point this spring, Politico reported.

 

Opposition politicians claim that Scholz used his political influence to persuade Hamburg state authorities to abandon their attempts to claim back €47 million ($48.2 million) in taxes from Warburg Bank in 2016. Scholz was serving as the city’s mayor at the time, and met in private with Warburg officials on three separate occasions before the state stopped its pursuit of the money.

 

Scholz' ties to the scandal surfaced during his 2021 election campaign, but the Social Democrat (SPD) chancellor denied any involvement. He has already been questioned over these meetings, but Middelberg told reporters that the latest probe will examine whether his statements of non-involvement were “believable.”

 

According to a CDU letter seen by Politico, the party recently learned thatScholz readily recountedhis meetings with the bankin front of one investigative committee, before claiming tohave no recollectionin front of others.

 

“This comprehensive memory gap of the chancellor after an initial memory of a concrete meeting … raises a multitude of questions to be clarified,” the letter reportedly states.

 

The so-called ‘cum-ex’ scandal was a Europe-wide scheme involvingmore than a dozen banks and numerous tradersand companies who lent each other shares, then falsely reported paying tax on these transfers in order to claim back tax refunds from at least 11 European governments. The German government lost around $30 billion in the scheme, which it has worked to reclaim since the scandal came to light in 2017.

 

Scholz’s party views the probe as politically motivated. In a Twitter post on Tuesday, SPD chief whip Katja Mast declared that the CDU “is not interested in knowledge, but party tactics,” accusing the party of “making claims that have long since been refuted.”

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe promoted gender transitions for children in a new video for the Trevor Project in which he sat down for a roundtable discussion on transgender and “non-binary” youth.

 

“We can trust kids to tell us who they are,” Radcliffe said.

 

In the video, Radcliffe spoke to a group of transgender teens and young adults — some of whom began transitioning as early as six years old. They discussed their experiences transitioning, why they think trans pronouns are “non-negotiable,” and their belief that children can choose their sex at any age.

 

“I don’t understand why I can’t just decide that I’m a girl,” said Dayley, a male-t0-female transgender. “If it’s a big decision to decide I’m a girl, it’s a big decision to decide I’m a boy. It’s the same thing. There’s no age. You don’t have to be 18 to decide that, ‘oh, I am who I am.’ ”

 

Another male-to-female named “Deity the Why” agreed: “I don’t think we give children enough credit for coming into this world and having a sense of purity and understanding for themselves.”

 

Radcliffe, who identified himself as “cis” and “straight,” said, “there are some people in the world who are not trying to engage with this conversation in any kind of good faith. I think a lot of the time it’s just ’cause people don’t know a young trans person.”

 

A female-to-male named Mateo-Luis recalled “the first time I ever put a [chest] binder on and like, I was in tears, because seeing yourself as yourself for the first time is such a transformative experience.”

 

The discussion later moved on to trans pronouns, like “they/them,” and the new names they have adopted after transitioning. Mateo-Luis said: “It’s non-negotiable. I feel like people feel like it’s optional. ”

 

Dayley added: “There’s no very specific, very one way, that English has to be spoken. It needs to be applied to issues and to people, and those are the things that need change in our language.

 

The roundtable participants also blamed European colonization for imposing the “gender binary” on countries in Asia and Africa.

 

The Trevor Project has been actively promoting gender transitions for children and those under 18. As Breitbart News reported, the organization even teamed up with former Biden administration official Sam Brinton, a “non-binary individual, who advocated for school districts to withhold key mental health information about children from their parents.

US tech firm physically destroyed inventory in Russia

Cisco decided to liquidate its equipment following its withdrawal from the sanctioned country

 

US software and network equipment manufacturer Cisco Systems destroyed its inventory in Russia, worth more than $20 million, this past January after exiting the sanctioned country last year, TASS news agency reported on Wednesday, citing the company’s accounting statement.

 

According to the document, which was published on March 31, spare parts, “other property, including the IT equipment itself,” as well as vehicles, office furniture and appliances, and demonstration equipment were all destroyed.

 

“Inventories were physically destroyed in January 2023, and in connection with this, as of December 31, 2022, the entire cost of inventories – 1,864,002 thousand rubles[$23.4 million] – was accrued with a depreciation provision,” the document says.

 

Cisco terminated most of its contracts with its Russia-based employees, with the total amount of mandatory contributions and payments to staff reaching 190.6 million rubles ($2.3 million), according to the company’s financial report.

 

In June 2022, Cisco announced its withdrawal from Russia over the conflict in Ukraine. In August, the company made the decision to dispose of its stocks due to the termination of sales and suspension of licenses and services in the country, as well as owing to the inability to re-export, the company said.

 

Media reports later surfaced that the firm could resume deliveries to Russia through an intermediary, with the Russian IT services company IBS named as a possible distributor. However, IBS denied carrying out any negotiations about importing equipment for Cisco.

 

In light of Cisco’s exit from the country, Deputy Trade Minister Vasily Shpak said that Western companies that left Russia should not be given an easy path back to the market.

 

He said that Russia should generate demand for domestically manufactured tech products with Russian software to help underpin achieving technological independence.

The arrangement allows the US to keep providing aid to Israel even though doing so is technically illegal. Under an amendment to the Arms Export Control Act, the US cannot provide aid to nuclear-armed states that refuse to sign the NPT.

 

State Department spokesman Ned Price was recently grilled on the issue by journalist Sam Husseini. When pressed about potential violations of the Arms Control Export Act and the State Department’s refusal to acknowledge Israel’s nuclear weapons program, Price referred Husseini to the Israeli government.

Biden DOJ told US Marshals not to arrest protesters outside Supreme Court justices’ homes, files show

 

According to records recently made public by a U.S. senator, the U.S. marshals assigned to protect Supreme Court justices‘ homes last year were instructed to avoid making arrests, contradicting Attorney General Merrick Garland’s promises to Congress.

 

Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) challenged Garland with the instruction manual used by the marshals assigned to guard the justices. Arrests were not to be a top priority, it stated, as reported by The Washington Times.

 

Conservatives argued the demonstrations, which started after a draft of the Dobbs decision was leaked, are illegal because they violate a federal law that forbids demonstrations outside of a judge’s residence with the aim of swaying a decision.

 

In March, Garland told senators that his prosecutors were unable to file charges unless the local marshals made arrests, and the marshals on the scene didn’t see a need to do so.

 

“They were actively discouraged from doing so,” Britt asserted.

 

Making arrests was clearly stated as “not the goal” of the deployment in one section of the guidance, and as “a last resort to prevent physical harm” in another.

 

That seems to refute Mr. Garland’s claim that the agents had the authority to conduct arrests of judges who were demonstrating but chose not to because they didn’t see the need.

 

A last page stated that prior coordination with federal prosecutors was required for any arrests, which Britt claimed again conflicts with Garland’s claims.

 

“Any contemplated [marshals] enforcement action should be coordinated in advance with the appropriate USAO,” the guidance said, referencing the U.S. attorney’s office.

 

At a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing in March, Britt questioned Garland over his knowledge of the directives.

 

While he claimed he was unaware, he maintained his earlier assertion that the marshals were still in a position to take action.

 

Garland said the justices’ lives and property were their first priority to safeguard “but that doesn’t mean they are in any way precluded from making other kinds of arrests.”

 

“It’s clear the marshals were given a different directive,” Britt replied. “I’d ask you to look into that.”

Syria Warns Of ‘Total Escalation’ After Fourth Israeli Attack

 

Syria warned Israel on April 4 that it risks pushing the Middle East towards “total escalation” following a new wave of airstrikes that targeted Damascus and nearby areas.

 

The Israeli airstrikes, which were launched by Israeli warplanes in the early morning hours, targeted a civilian glass factory and military positions in the countryside of Damascus as well as a radar base in the neighboring governorate of al-Suwayda.

 

The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency said that two civilians were killed in the Israeli attack, which was the fourth in less than a week.

 

“Syria warns Israel and its sponsors once again of the dangers of these aggressive policies, which push the region towards total escalation and a new phase of insecurity and instability,” the Syrian Foreign ministry said in a statement.

 

The ministry also accused Israel of conducting the airstrikes to “escape its internal problems through aggressions and crimes outside its borders”, in reference to the massive anti-government protests that have rocked Israel over the past few weeks.

 

Two waves of Israeli airstrikes hit positions in Damascus and its outskirts on March 30 and 31. The second attack claimed the lives of two officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who were in Syria to assist and advise government forces. Tehran promised to avenge its officers.

 

On April 2, a third Israeli attack targeted al-Dabaa air base in the southern countryside of Homs and a nearby air defense base. IRGC personnel and fighters from Lebanon’s Hezbollah are known to be deployed in the area.

 

Later on the same day, Israel downed a drone over its northern front. Tel Aviv claimed that the drone was launched from Syria by Iranian-backed forces.

 

Israel and the IRGC appear to be heading towards a dangerous confrontation as a result of the recent attacks on Syria. The confrontation could take place in the war-torn country. Damascus new warning highlights the seriousness of the situation.
