During a House Homeland Security Committee hearing, Rep. Eric Swalwell attempted to humiliate fellow committee member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Rep. Eric Swalwell, whose gaslighting skills are second-to-none, attempted to make the case that he’s concerned that his fellow Republican lawmakers are anti-police, which of course, is rich coming from the party which regularly aligns themselves with the BLM and Antifa war against the police.

“I’m also concerned about people on this committee and their own anti-police rhetoric,” Swalwell said, adding, “This is a defund the FBI campaign effort.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, the outspoken Republican lawmaker from Georgia, snapped back, “That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy, and everyone knows it. But thanks for entertaining…”

A voice can be heard interrupting Taylor-Greene, “I move to take her words down—completely inappropriate.”

The Chair responded, “Yeah, standby just a second while we research the rule. Give me just a second.”

After a brief pause, the chair can be heard speaking to Taylor-Greene: “The chair recognizes the gentle lady from Georgia and asks if she would like to retract those words?”

“No, I will not!” a defiant Rep. Taylor-Greene responded.

Not only did the outspoken conservative lawmaker refuse to apologize or retract her statement, but she also shared a video of the interaction and wrote:

Business Partner Of Chinese Communist Party Owns American Elections Company

Amid all of the election turmoil and questions of foreign interference the last few years in our country, one company seems to have eluded public scrutiny. Intrepid Research digs deeper.

Unisyn Voting Systems, located in Vista, California, is owned by Vincent Tan, a Chinese-Malaysian billionaire with deep ties to the Chinese Communist Party.

Unisyn is just one of many companies in Vincent Tan’s vast business empire, but it should trouble national security and election officials. An election systems company based in the United States, is compromised by foreign control and influence.

Unisyn Voting Solutions is subsidiary of and is co-located with International Lottery & Totalizator Systems (ILTS) in Vista, California. Certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission since 2012, they supply voting machines and software to a number of states and locales across the United States.

When considering the idea of rigged elections, it is not reassuring that a lottery and casino equipment company is manufacturing voting machines, since casino machines are designed to ensure that “the house” always wins.

ILTS makes gambling systems for countries all across Asia, including racetracks and casinos in Hong Kong and Macao. They are a subsidiary of Berjaya Corporation based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Berjaya is a conglomerate owned by Vincent Tan, a billionaire invested in all sorts of ventures. Hotels, real estate, financial services, restaurant chains, convenience stores, gambling, and even professional soccer (or football) teams all comprise elements of his portfolio.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with someone of his wealth investing in various industries. However, there are two main concerns here, with national security implications. One, American elections companies being foreign-owned seems problematic. Two, Mr. Tan’s business partners are especially problematic.

From 1993-2000, Mr. Tan’s Berjaya operated a joint venture called Syntax with Gu Wengjiang, the wealthy sister-in-law of Chinese Communist Party Politburo member Bo Xilai. (Mr. Xilai has since been purged from the Politburo and the Party and imprisoned for life, amid scandal)

Another company owned by Mr. Tan is U Mobile, a mobile telecommunications company in Malaysia. U Mobile has deep partnerships with Chinese companies ZTE and Huawei, both considered major national security threats by the U.S. government. In fact, Tan’s son Robin, who is now CEO of the Berjaya empire, and acting on his fathers behalf, was present for the signing of U Mobile’s agreement with ZTE. The event was attended by both the Malaysian Prime Minister and none other than CCP Chairman Xi Jinping himself. (See photo below).

China Reveals Details of Raytheon, Lockheed Sanctions

China revealed on Tuesday new details of sanctions it previously announced against two U.S. weapons manufacturers, including a ban on Chinese companies doing business with them.

China imposed trade and investment sanctions in February on Lockheed Martin and Raytheon Missiles & Defense, a division of Raytheon Technologies Corp., for supplying weapons to Taiwan, the self-governed island claimed by China.

China's Ministry of Commerce said in a statement late Tuesday that the sanctions include a ban on exports and imports by the two companies from and to China "to prevent Chinese products from being used in their military business."

It added that Chinese companies should "strengthen their due diligence and compliance system construction to verify transaction information" and should not knowingly conduct business with the two companies while importing, exporting or transporting products.

It wasn't clear what immediate impact the penalties might have, but the restrictions on imports and exports could hurt the two companies. The United States bars most sales of weapons-related technology to China, but some military contractors also have civilian businesses in aerospace and other markets.

Last September, Raytheon Missiles and Defense was awarded a $412 million contract to upgrade Taiwanese military radar as part of a $1.1 billion package of U.S. arms sales to the island.

Taiwan buys most of its weapons from the U.S., which is its biggest unofficial ally. In recent years, China has frequently sent fighter jets and warships toward the island, surrounding it at different times in a campaign of military pressure and intimidation.

The sanctions also prohibit the senior executives of both companies from traveling to China or working there. They listed Lockheed Martin CEO James Donald Taiclet, COO Frank Andrew St. John and CFO Jesus Malave, and from Raytheon Missiles & Defense, President Wesley D. Kremer and Vice Presidents Agnes Soeder and Chander Nijhon.

In relentless pursuit of American strategic energy dominance, Donald Trump made the United States a net oil exporter while his peace through strength doctrine contained Vladimir Putin’s revanchist ambitions. Pursuing a Green New World,President Biden has rapidly achieved strategic energy subserviencewhile transforming Mr. Putin from a contained wolf to an unchained jackal nowwielding enormous power over world energy markets.

For more than 70 years, the global oil patch was largely ruled by a U.S.-Saudi Arabia “oil for security” pact: America promised to protect Saudi Arabia from its numerous enemies in the region while the Saudis cooperated in setting oil prices. Of course, once Mr. Trump achieved U.S. energy dominance — and surpassed Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest petroleum producer — America assumed the dominant role in setting oil prices — OPEC be damned.

Here, I personally remember, on more than one occasion, Mr. Trump calling the Saudi king and letting him know that oil prices had gotten too high and they needed to turn on the production spigot. He always did.

Mr.Biden has screwed this critical strategic relationshipup every which way since Sunday. During the 2020 presidential campaign, candidate Biden promised to stop Mr. Trump’s arms sales to the Saudis — sales I myself had worked hard on to create American manufacturing jobs.

Candidate Biden also made much political hay of the role of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the assassination of Jamaal Khashoggi.The Saudis gotMr. Biden’s menacing message —look for friends and security elsewhere.

Today, with Mr. Trump’s strategic energy dominance in their rearview mirror, it is a Saudi-Russia duo now calling the oil price shots. With Russia, the world’s third-largest petroleum producer behind only the Saudis and U.S.,Saudi Arabia and Russia are the tails now wagging the OPEC cartel dog.

You would not have found a single Western analyst who would have foreseen this outcome when Russia invaded Ukraine. The United States, together with Europe and other allies like India and Japan, would quickly crush the Russian economy by refusing to buy their oil and gas. Of course, this conventional thinking quickly gave way to realpolitik.

Countries around the world — American friends and foes alike — need their oil and natural gas, andnone wanted to endure the political painof higher energy prices that would be necessaryto crush Russia. So Russian oil quickly leaked onto world markets — not just to rogue states likeChina but also to putative allies like India, Japan, Europe and even here to the United States

What Mr. Putin and the Russians have learned is that oligopolistic production cutbacks work. They work only because theUnited States no longer has the productive capacityto surge petroleum into the market to offset such cuts. Today, at the right price, Russia can gainmore revenue even while it sells less oil.

One must ask here whether Mr. Putin must be declared the ultimate chess master for seeing this seemingly odd result in advance and therefore having no fear of invading Ukraine. Or maybe he just got lucky. Either way,America under Mr. Bidenis now at themercy of Saudi Arabia and Russia.

This should chill your bones: In order for the Saudis to balance their budget — they spend lavishly on social programs to buy off the restless masses — they need oil prices to be at about $80 a barrel. To pay for its war machine, Russia needs oil to be at about $100 a barrel. Perhaps not coincidentally,oil prices are forecast to averageas much as$90for the next several years — the midway point between Saudi and Russian fiscal needs.

Contrast this new American energy future with theroughly $60 a barrel averaged during the Trump years, and you quickly see what an inflationary shock this has been. If current forecasts hold, the Saudi-Russian cartel willlikely add 1% to 2% to the U.S. inflationrate, which is already high.

Plus, the extra money American consumers and businesses have to shell out goes right into the pockets of countries that, at best, hate us and, at worst, want to destroy us.That’s a pure negative wealth transfer.

This, then, is Mr. Biden’s brave new green energy future. We are both poorer and less safe. Absent a quick mid-course policy correction, this will end badly. Elections do indeed have consequences.

Hunger is soaring and spreading across West Africa, with some 48 million people, a 10-year-high, facing food insecurity in the conflict-riddled region, the United Nations warned Tuesday.

Driven primarily by violence as well as the economic fallout from COVID-19 and inflation, food insecurity has heavily impacted Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, northern Nigeria and Mauritania, U.N. officials said at a press conference in Senegal’s capital, Dakar.

U.N. officials said that for the first time, some 45,000 people in the Sahel region, the arid expanse below the Sahara Desert, are on the brink of starvation, one step away from famine. The vast majority facing catastrophic levels of hunger, 42,000, are in Burkina Faso, the officials reported.

“The situation is worrying," said Ann Defraye, a regional nutrition specialist for UNICEF in West and Central Africa. “Last year, we saw a large increase (31%) in the numbers of children admitted to health facilities with severe wasting across the Sahel. … In many areas, it is getting much more difficult for families to find nutritious food to eat, especially where we have communities under blockade.”

Violence linked to al-Qaida and the Islamic State group has ravaged both Burkina Faso and Mali for years.

Undercover Video Reveals Indiana Schools Hiding Critical Race Theory Curriculum From Parents

As a parent, I don’t want to believe that schools would deliberately indoctrinate kids and try to hide what they’re doing from parents. But, sadly, in recent years, it’s become impossible to give them the benefit of the doubt.

A newly released undercover video by Accuracy in Media (AIM) highlights the deceitful tactics used by public schools to impart damaging and erroneous ideologies to children, such as critical race theory.

The video exposes several school administrators in Indiana who openly acknowledge their efforts to mislead parents about the educational content being presented to their children. Even more disturbing, these assistant superintendents and curriculum coordinators implicate teachers as willing participants in this effort.

The assistant superintendent of Plainfield Community Schools, Laura Delvecchio, boasted about the school system’s capacity to “remain unnoticed” and presents critical race theory (CRT) principles through its Social Emotional Learning (SEL) content.

Delvecchio went on to clarify that the school system had undertaken an extensive review of its curriculum, including a “white privilege walk,” which they intentionally conceal from parents.

“What we’ve decided to do is not call attention to it because when you call attention to it then questions are asked and I really believe that you can do more good under the radar,” she explained.

Meanwhile, in northern Indiana, Assistant Superintendent Brad Sheppard explained how the Elkhart Schools are actively trying to teach SEL and CRT by avoiding the words and labels associated with them.

“We just have to avoid the words, you know? The labels,” he explains. “[SEL] has become a bad phrase and we don’t openly use that phrase but we’re still doing it, so. I mean, just to avoid anything, I mean, we have not really been hit with it, but just to even avoid it.”

What Brad Sheppard is really trying to avoid is parental disapproval of the propaganda the schools are teaching children. The video makes it clear that all the school officials believe that the less that parents know, the better.

Other educators are “prepping” textbook presenters to make sure controversial topics they shouldn’t be teaching aren’t revealed.

“We have talked to our textbook companies that are coming and do presentations and I actually prep them a little bit because I’m like ‘we want this in our curriculum so if you could just not say specifically this then it won’t cause a red flag with the community’ and I hate that we have to do that but that way it’s still there and they would support it if just the content was there they just–its the title,” Jenny Oakley, director of e-learning and literacy at Martinsville Schools Metropolitan School District, told AIM investigators.

Over the past few years, parents have been beyond outraged that their kids are being taught garbage that completely contradicts their values and beliefs. And as if that’s not bad enough, these institutions have the audacity to deceive parents by lying about what their children are being taught and how it’s being presented. It’s a complete and utter disgrace. If this can happen in a conservative state like Indiana, it can happen anywhere.

Western sanctions ‘tougher than expected' – Russian central bank

Balanced financial policy and crisis management experience have helped Moscow withstand unprecedented pressure, Elvira Nabiullina has said

The Russian economy hasdemonstrated its sustainability and resilienceby weathering an unprecedented barrage of Western sanctions defying even the worst expectations, the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina told the State Duma on Wednesday.

The level of pressure Russia had to face last year was so high no one could have potentially predicted it or prepared for it beforehand, the central bank head believes. The Russian people and industries demonstratedremarkable adaptabilityin this new reality, she said.

“No one could have prepared for this insane onslaught of sanctions,” Nabiullina said, adding that external conditions for the Russian economy had been worse than “even the most pessimistic scenario.” The “balanced and unwavering policy” the Russian financial authorities have stuck to in previous years as well as“crisis management experience” are what helped the governmentreact to developments effectively, she explained.

The central bank head particularly praised the work of the nation’s banks that kept the financial sector “stable” and provided the nation with the necessary financial resources. She also described the government support measures as “adequate and timely,” adding that they helped the economy to “weather the sanctions storm.”

Russia has faced unprecedented sanctions imposed by the US and its allies last year over Moscow’s decision to launch a military operation in neighboring Ukraine. The Russian financial system and banks, as well as the aviation and space industries were among the first to be impacted.

The US and the EU have introduced a total of ten rounds of sanctions over roughly a year while the conflict between Moscow and Kiev has raged. In December, the EU, along with the G7 countries and Australia, introduced a price cap on Russian seaborne oil, set at $60 per barrel.

Many Western officials and media outlets predicted that the Russian economy would collapse under the pressure of sanctions and military expenditures, only to admit later that Moscow has managed to defy the doom and gloom forecasts.

Last August, Bloomberg and the Washington Post reported that thesanctions had failedto bring about the economic collapse that Western leaders had hoped for. In December 2022, President Putin said that Russia was outperforming many of the G20 nations despite sanctions.

In April, theWorld Bank admittedthat the Russian economy was doingconsiderably better than expected. It changed its Russian GDP forecast by saying that it would likely fall by mere 0.2% in 2023 – up from the 3.3% contraction forecast in its January outlook.

Russia’s economy minister was even more optimistic in his April forecast, saying the nation’sGDP is expected to grow 2.8% by 2026.

Supreme Court temporarily extends access to abortion pill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court has temporarily extended women’s access to an abortion pill until Friday while the justices consider whether to allow restrictions on mifepristone to take effect as a legal challenge to the medication’s Food and Drug Administration approval continues.

In an order signed by Justice Samuel Alito on Wednesday, the court indicated it will act by Friday night. Alito provided no explanation for why the court put off a more lasting decision.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s legal team received an extremely tough reception on Wednesday, as a federal judge appointed by former President Trump sharply questioned his attempt to invalidate the GOP-controlled House Judiciary’s subpoena.

U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil interrupted Bragg’s attorney Theodore Boutrous repeatedly throughout the hourlong hearing, accusing him of playing politics.

“There’s politics going on here on both sides here,” Vyskocil said. “Let’s be honest about that.”

Throughout the proceedings, Vyskocil peppered multiple attorneys for Bragg with questions on various topics. One of those topics was a book by Bragg’s former deputy Mark Pomerantz: “People v. Trump,” criticizing the DA for declining to prosecute the former president in a separate tax matter.

In a particularly cutting series of questions, the judge asked Boutrous directly: “How does this book, which is chock full of what Mr. Pomerantz calls an ‘insider account,’ how does it not disclose mental impressions, deliberations of the office, the internal workings of the District Attorney’s office, how is there not a waiver?”

The DA’s office insists that the DA’s privilege wasn’t Pomerantz’s to waive.

If someone takes a leading role in shaping crime policy, and you politely disagree with them, that doesn’t make you bigoted against the group they belong to. But Congressman Dan Goldman (D-NY) claims that those who disagree with George Soros about crime are antisemites. On April 17, he wrote: “With antisemitic violence at record highs, today’s hearing confirmed that invoking George Soros’s name is nothing short of blatant antisemitism. I call on all Republicans to stop using this antisemitic trope immediately.”

George Soros is the nation’s most influential person on the subject of crime, and the biggest supporter of decarceral policies, which reduce the amount of time offenders spend in prison. He provides the lion’s share of campaign funding for many progressive district attorneys, as news stories in the Washington Post have revealed. He also publicly touts his support of those district attorneys, and their soft-on-crime policies, in high-profile ways such as a Wall Street Journal op-ed he wrote, titled “Why I Support Reform Prosecutors.”

But Congressman Goldman, and progressive journalists, consider it antisemitic to point out Soros’s influence, or even mention his name in discussing crime policy, even though Jewish law professors such as Eugene Volokh and David Bernstein have pointed out that it is not antisemitic to do so, and that it is only natural to discuss Soros’s activitism given the prominent role he plays in this area of public policy. As Professor Volokh put it, “Of Course It’s Legitimate to Criticize George Soros’ Spending to Influence American Politics.”

When an LU blogger published a letter to the editor in the Wall Street Journal arguing that “Innocent black people would be harmed the most” by the policies backed by George Soros, because they involve “releasing vast numbers of dangerous criminals, most of whom preyed on other black people,” a reader claimed that the letter was an “antisemitic dogwhistle.” Presumably, this was because the letter mentioned Soros’s name — the letter began “Mr. Soros writes…” But it is hard to see how the letter could have avoided mentioning Soros’s name, given that the letter was responding to George Soros’s op-ed.

And given the prevalence of black-on-black crime, the soft-on-crime policies advocated by Soros for black offenders could indeed harm innocent black people most. It is likewise hard for political analysts writing about the politics of crime and prosecutor elections to avoid mentioning George Soros, given the enormously-influential role he plays in such elections. Soros donates vastly more money to election campaigns and ideological causes than the Koch brothers, whose every donation is deemed by progressive journalists to render recipients “Koch-funded,” even if Koch funding accounts for only a tiny percentage of the recipient’s funding.

US debt default a matter of time – Musk

The billionaire’s warning comes as the White House and Republicans in Congress are at an impasse over raising the debt ceiling

Tesla and Twitter chief executive Elon Musk, who has been calling for US government spending reductions, said on Wednesday that a debt default was just a question of time.

“Given Federal expenditures, it is a matter of when, not if, we default,” Musk wrote responding to a Twitter post by the White House that the Republican plan may be to default on US debt.

Earlier this week, US House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy warned in a speech at the New York Stock Exchange that the US debt is unsustainable and poses a threat to the nation. He said that Republicans would not allow the country to default on its debt, taking a jab at President Biden for refusing to negotiate on cost-cutting measures.

McCarthy added that the House of Representatives would soon vote on a bill to raise the debt ceiling through 2023.

US President Joe Biden urged the Republicans to first release their proposed budget, with the White House stressing it would not negotiate the debt ceiling until the GOP releases its counterproposal to the administration’s budget plan, which was put out in March.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre alleged late last month that the Republicans were threatening to wreak havoc on US economy, saying that it was time for the GOP to “stop playing games” and agree to pass a “clean” debt ceiling bill.

In January, the Treasury Department notified Congress of the start of “extraordinary measures” until June 5 in order to continue paying the government’s obligations as the US has reached its $31.4 trillion debt limit. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen then called on lawmakers to “act promptly” to increase borrowing limits in order to avoid a default.

Power outage stunt stymies Macron’s regional tour

French President Emmanuel Macron was left (partially) in the dark whenunion workersat a factory he was visiting in northeastern Francecut off the power. The country remains gripped by mass protests over the deeply unpopular pension reform.

Macron visited several communes on Wednesday during a tour of the northeast of the country. His stop in Muttersholtz, which included a meeting with workers, officials, and media at a woodworking factory, was marred by a gesture of discontent from his critics. Minutes before the president’s arrival, theelectricity was cut in the entire neighborhood, French media reported. The delegation had to spend some time in a poorly-lit environment, though the sky windows allowed some light in, images from the scene show.

“Energy companies will be everywhere and the president will be in darkness!” Fabrice Coudour, a senior officer of the CGT union, which claimed credit for the protest action, explained to the Huffington Post.

Mexico's president lashed out Monday at what he called U.S. "spying" and "interference" in Mexico, days after U.S. prosecutors announced charges against 28 members of the Sinaloa cartel for smuggling massive amounts of fentanyl into the United States. Russia Threatens To Give North Korea Advanced Weapons If Seoul Arms Ukraine

Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev has threatened that the Kremlin could give advanced weapons to North Korea if South Korea moves to send military aid to Ukraine.

This comes in response to South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol floating the possibility of a drastic policy shift. He'll travel to the United States next week for an official visit. He said in a Reuters interview published Wednesday, "If there is a situation the international community cannot condone, such as any large-scale attack on civilians, massacre or serious violation of the laws of war, it might be difficult for us to insist only on humanitarian or financial support."

"I believe there won't be limitations to the extent of the support to defend and restore a country that's been illegally invaded both under international and domestic law," Yoon explained. "Considering our relationship with the parties engaged in the war and developments in the battlefield, we will take the most appropriate measures," he added.

As Reuters notes, "It was the first time that Seoul suggested a willingness to provide weapons to Ukraine, more than a year after ruling out the possibility of lethal aid."

Last year, US officials and Western media made accusations that North Korea was supplying Russia with artillery ammo and other defense items.

But if Russia actually gave advanced weapons to Pyongyang and the Kim Jong-Un regime, Washington would go ballistic, particularly at this sensitive moment of heightened tensions following repeat missile tests by the north.

But Medvedev is threatening just that, according to Russian media:

"I wonder what the residents of this nation would say when they see the newest example of Russian weapons in possession of their closest neighbors, our partners from the DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea]?" Medvedev wrote on social media.

The threat certainly ups the ante and is likely to impact Seoul's decision-making.

Some South Korean officials have reportedly mulled the possibility of indirectly aiding Ukraine, which would involve making the weapons available to a third-party country which in turn would arm Kiev. Likely this scenario is something the Biden administration would support.

Senior IRS agent blows whistle, alleging Biden DOJ thwarting criminal prosecution of Hunter Biden

Whistleblower account to inspector general, notification to Congress calls into question AG Merrick Garland testimony.

A decorated supervisory IRS agent has reported to the Justice Department’s top watchdog that federal prosecutors appointed by Joe Biden have engaged in “preferential treatment and politics” to block criminal tax charges against presidential son Hunter Biden, providing evidence as a whistleblower that conflicts with Attorney General Merrick Garland’s recent testimony to Congress that the decision to bring charges against Biden was being left to the Trump-appointed U.S. Attorney for Delaware.

According to a letter from the whistleblower’s attorney Mark Lytle to Congress obtained by Just the News, the IRS agent revealed he is seeking to provide detailed disclosures about a high-profile, sensitive case to the tax-writing committees in Congress, which have special authority under federal tax privacy laws to receive such information. That could pave the way to share the details with other committees in coming weeks.

The letter does not state that the whistleblower disclosures are related to Hunter Biden. However, Just the News has confirmed the agent’s allegations involve the Hunter Biden probe being led by Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a Trump holdover, according to multiple interviews with people directly familiar with the matter.

“The protected disclosures: (l) contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee, (2) involve failure to mitigate clear conflicts of interest in the ultimate disposition of the case, and (3) detail examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected,” Lytle wrote in a letter Wednesday to Republicans and Democrats overseeing multiple oversight committees in Congress.

Hunter Biden has acknowledged since December 2020 that he has been under criminal investigation for tax matters and his representative disclosed last year he paid overdue tax bills totaling $2 million. He has expressed confidence he will be cleared of criminal wrongdoing.

The IRS agent has a sterling record investigating tax crimes across the globe, including work on high-profile Swiss Bank prosecutions, and has won several merit awards. His emergence now in such a politically charged case is certain to inflame a debate over unequal justice in Washington. London’s decision to supply Kiev with depleted uranium (DU) ammunition will hurt the Ukrainian people the most, as they will have to live with theconsequences of the toxic metal for generations, Andrey Kelin, the Russian ambassador to the UK, told RT on Wednesday.

In addition to sending Ukraine main battle tanks, the British government has promised to deliver armor-penetrating ammunition made with DU, and has already trained some Ukrainian troops in its use.

Ambassador Kelin told RT that he will “continue to explain” the harmful effects of the ammunition, including thedrastic increase in cancer rates, birth defects, and the contamination of the water and the soil “for at leastsix generations.”

US weapons manufacturer sponsors ‘drone opera’ in US capital

Funded by General Dynamics, the production tells the story of a female drone operator raising a daughter by night and bombing Afghanistan by day

Residents of Washington DC looking for highbrow entertainment will soon be able to watch an opera about the home life of a “hot shot” drone operator sponsored by one of the US’ largest weapons companies.

‘Grounded’ premieres at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts this October, according to a recent announcement on the theater’s website. With music composed by Jeanine Tesori and based on a 2013 play by George Brant, the opera tells the story of “Jess,” a “hot shot F-16 pilot” who finds herself unable to fly due to an unexpected pregnancy.

Jess is reassigned to pilot dronesin Afghanistan from the comfort of a trailer in Las Vegas, and “tracks terrorists by dayand rocks her daughter to sleep by night.” The story examines “what’s lost when technology distances us from the horror of war? And what price is inflicted upon the operator of a lone drone in a blue sky?” according to the theater’s website.

The opera is sponsored by General Dynamics, which is the fifth-largest weapons manufacturer in the world. General Dynamics builds the F-16 fighter jets piloted by the opera’s fictional heroine as well as a number of vehicle-launched attack drones. Its former subsidiary, General Atomics, manufactures theMQ-9 Reaper dronesthat saw extensive use in Afghanistan, including in the 2021 strike that killed a family of unarmed civilians in Kabul.

Whether the opera will end on an anti-war note is unclear, although the DC-based Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft noted last week that “productions involving arms companies or the Pentagon rarely find much room to critique America’s wars abroad.”

Mayor Eric Adams admitted New Yorkers were probably not “ready for this conversation”

New York City will track the carbon footprint of residents’ food consumption as part of a sweeping initiative to decrease the city’s carbon emissions from food by a third this year, Mayor Eric Adams revealed on Monday at an event for the Mayor’s Office of Climate and Environmental Justice.

About a fifth of New York’s greenhouse gas emissions come from household food consumption, Adams told reporters, blaming much of that total on meat and dairy. Household food consumption is supposedly the third largest contributor to city emissions totals, trailing only buildings and transportation.

The Mayor’s Office of Food Policy has ordered city agencies to reduce their food consumption by 33% by 2030, and Adams has asked private corporations to cut their own emissions by 25% by 2030, insisting New Yorkers’ wasteful eating habits cannot continue without imperiling the planet.

“It is easy to talk about emissions that are coming from vehicles and how it impacts our carbon footprint,” he said. “But now we have to talk about beef.” City officials urged New Yorkers to put down the burgers and pick up vegetables and beans.

“A plant-based diet is better for your physical and mental health, I’m living proof of that, but…thanks to this new inventory, we’re finding out it is better for the planet,” Adams quipped. While the mayor has long professed to be a vegan, even publishing a cookbook touting his supposedly plant-based diet, he admitted last year that he enjoyed the occasional fish after a restaurant whistleblower came forward.

The household consumption carbon footprint tracker will be viewable on the same website as the city’s breakdown of its annual greenhouse gas totals, which also includes data on producing consumer goods and using professional services.

Last year, Adams signed New York onto theC40 Good Food Cities program, a global pledge to reduce food waste and incentivize healthier eating habits. The program aims to enforce compliance with UN climate goals by ‘nudging’ populations toward more nutritious meals, mandating a “planetary health diet” for all residents.

Adams admitted that monitoring what’s on the end of New York’s forks was not going to be easy, telling the outlet Gothamist, “I don’t know if people are really ready for this conversation.” When his predecessor Michael Bloomberg tried to legally enforce healthy eating in 2012 with a heavy-handed ban on super-size sugary drinks, the state Supreme Court struck it down as arbitrary and capricious.Bloomberg, however, now runs the C40 program’s board of directors.

The Florida Board of Education has expanded the rules from the Parental Rights in Education law, erroneously branded “Don’t Say Gay” by detractors, to all grade levels.

The policy previously banned instruction of sexual orientation and “gender identity” in Florida’s public schools from kindergarten through third grade. It will now apply through 12th grade.

The changes did not require legislative approval.

“It is wrong for a teacher to tell a student that they may have been born in the wrong body or that their gender is a choice,’ Desantis said while giving remarks in Charleston, South Carolina, on Wednesday morning.

Air Force takes away National Guard unit's intel mission after member recently charged of espionage

The leaks have raised concerns about how one airman could have obtained and distributed so much sensitive material without being detected.

The Air Force has stripped the intelligence mission from the Air National Guard unit that included the guardsman recently charged with violating the federal Espionage Act for leaking sensitive military information.

"The 102nd Intelligence Wing is not currently performing its assigned intelligence mission. The mission has been temporarily reassigned to other organizations within the Air Force," the military branch told the Associated Press on Tuesday.

The change is reportedly pending further review of the unit.

Airman 1st Class Jack Teixeira, a 21-year-old member of the 102nd Intelligence Wing based in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, was charged last week. Prosecutors say he leaked classified documents to a group on the messaging platform Discord starting late last year.

Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall told Congress he directed his agency's inspector general to look at "anything associated with this leak that could have gone wrong."

The leaks have raised concerns about how one airman could have obtained and distributed so much sensitive material without being detected.

Kaspersky has announced a suitcase-sized, portable anti-UAV system

Leading Russian software company Kaspersky has developed a portable device for detecting small drones. The Antidrone Portable is a security product intended for government and commercial use, the company said.

The radio frequency detector weighs less than 5 kg and fits into a rolling suitcase. The operator uses a tablet based on Kaspersky’s Antidrone software to track drones with a graphical interface. The device can determine the exact location of most drone models within a kilometer-wide radius, along with the position of their operator, the company said. With a battery life of up to two hours, Antidrone Portable can be used to patrol the perimeter of a protected area.

The new product is “another confirmation that we have long been more than an anti-virus company,” general director Eugene Kaspersky said in a statement on Monday.

Kaspersky introduced its Antidrone hardware and software in 2019, with the purpose of helping protect “critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, as well as transport infrastructure and public events from the misuse of drones.”
