Republican Oversight Committee Wants Answers From John Kerry About His Secret Talks With China

You probably knew that John Kerry is a sort of climate czar for Joe Biden, but did you know that he has been engaged in secretive talks with China?

Do you want to know what he has been discussing with them? So do Republicans on the House Oversight Committee.

The Biden administration already looks a bit too chummy with China. This just adds to that perception.

GOP Oversight Committee Wants Answers About John Kerry’s Secret Talks With China

House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) is looking more closely at talks regarding Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry’s climate negotiations with China.

Kerry is engaging in negotiations without having been confirmed by the Senate. While this isn’t illegal, it seems as if a lot of responsibility is being given to someone who’s engaging in international negotiations and setting policy on climate.

“For the past two years, the Biden Administration has withheld information on John Kerry’s role within the Administration despite the committee’s many requests,” Comer told Fox News Digital in a statement. “He was not confirmed by the Senate. He is not held accountable by the American people. He is skirting congressional oversight and that is unacceptable.”

What is John Kerry negotiating? No one outside the White House is sure.

“His reported upcoming negotiations with the Chinese on climate topics, an action which he has done on numerous occasions, is inappropriate and potentially undermines U.S. interests and domestic energy security,” he continued. “Mr. Kerry’s continued engagement in shady negotiations will be met with intense scrutiny by the committee.”

The top Republican lawmaker added that the panel sent letter last week to Secretary of State Antony Blinken related to Kerry’s role as special envoy at the State Department. Comer said he expects “nothing less than full cooperation” from the agency.

Comer announced in February that the Oversight Committee would open a probe into Kerry’s secretive negotiations with Chinese climate diplomats.

Republicans should make John Kerry appear before Congress and answer questions on live TV.

FBI Seizes Couple’s Life-Savings Without Charging Them of Crime – Here’s How It’s Completely Legal

A couple whose safety deposit box was seized by the FBI two years ago as the bureau conducted a money laundering investigation into the owners of the storage company has not and might not ever receive their life savings back.

The FBI has allegedly used loopholes in order to legally line its pockets through civil asset forfeiture.

The owners of a Los Angeles-area company called U.S. Private Vaults Inc. were raided by the bureau after it was discovered they had been allowing drug dealers to launder money through the business, The Los Angeles Times reported.

They accepted a plea bargain that would see them not charged with any crimes but did allow the FBI to take $86 million in cash from various deposit boxes stored at their business. The Times reported millions of dollars more in jewelry and other items were also taken.

Some of the boxes had been used to further illegal activities.

Others were rented by ordinary people who used them to safely store precious items or money.

Linda Martin and Reggie Wilder, a married couple, were among those who said they did nothing wrong, other than choose the wrong business to store the $40,200 they hoped to use to purchase a home.

They were given a notice their money had been taken and offered no explanation as to why or if it would ever be returned.

That was two years ago.

The nest egg was seized by the FBI in March of 2021 a legal group is suing the bureau on their behalf.

The Institute for Justice has filed a class action lawsuit in the hopes in get get money back on behalf of numerous people who through no fault of their own lost valuables and cash to civil forfeiture.

The FBI has presumably taken the money and will use it for its own benefit.

But not if Institute for Justice attorney Bob Belden can help.

“The government shouldn’t get to take your property if it can’t tell you what you did wrong,” Belden said in a news release. “Using civil forfeiture, the government decides for itself whether to take and try to keep property, even when it doesn’t suspect the owners of any crime.”

Belden added, “Then, the FBI sends copy-and-paste forfeiture notices that fail to tell owners anything about why it is trying to take their property. That’s not only wrong; it’s unconstitutional.”

Martin explained in the release that the bureau had put her through a major headache.

“The FBI took my savings nearly two years ago but has never told me why,” she said. “It’s been a confusing and frustrating process from the day my money was taken. No one should have to go through this.”

US Heading Toward Power Grid 'Reliability Crisis,' Energy Commissioner Warns

There were approximately 10,000 energy projects in April designed to produce more than 2,000 gigawatts (GW) of collective power waiting for permits from federal and state agencies to connect to electric grids across the United States.

The problem is, that is nearly twice the collective electricity output of the 1,250 GW now being produced by all the nation’s power plants, most of which were built to generate power using fossil fuels.

Therefore, two bottlenecks are looming—more power is trying to squeeze into an inadequate grid and coal-fired plants are being retired faster than new plants using renewable energy sources such as wind and solar are being built to replace them.

“The United States is heading for a reliability crisis,” Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Commissioner Mark Christie warned on May 4 in a hearing before the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee.

“I do not use the term ‘crisis’ for melodrama, but because it is an accurate description of what we are facing,” Christie said. “I think anyone would regard an increasing threat of system-wide, extensive power outages as a crisis.”

Committee chair Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and ranking Republican Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) agreed, with both identifying the same culprit in an “impending, but avoidable, reliability crisis” that confronts the nation’s electricity grid.

The “premature fossil retirements” amid increasing demand for power are a result of President Joe Biden’s green energy initiatives in 2021’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that incentivize investments in renewable energy.

The incentives have proven effective in inducing investor interest—maybe too successful with projects being proposed and approved sooner than expected and faster than the grid’s transmission capacity is expanding.

The Biden administration is “trying to force a dramatic increase in electrical demand” through the BIL and IRA, Manchin said, which will foster disruptions in transmission as old plants are retired and new ones come online.

“We do have to address climate change but this transition is happening too fast,” he said, noting he and House Republicans have filed bills that address transmission. “I hope we can sit down and negotiate in good faith and put politics aside.”

What is Hunter Biden discussing with Joe Biden’s advisers? And that’s something that’s going to have to be determined if the House is able to get these individuals under oath in a deposition to ask those questions. But clearly, these conversations were not about the weather. They were not about childcare, they were not about vacation plans… This is about enriching the Biden family using the power of the state…

Cannabis Use Causes Almost a Third of Schizophrenia Cases in Young Men: Study

A new study suggests that young men with cannabis addiction are more subject to the risk of developing schizophrenia.

The study, led by Danish researchers and published in the Psychological Medicine journal, found a strong link between schizophrenia and cannabis use disorder through analyzing health records of over 6 million people over 50 years. Experts estimate that nearly a third of schizophrenia cases in 21- to 30-year-old males were triggered by cannabis use disorder.

According to a 2021 National Institutes of Health survey, about 16.3 million Americans are estimated to have cannabis use disorder, also known as marijuana addiction.

The Danish study estimated that 30 percent of schizophrenia cases among men aged 21 to 30, and 15 percent of cases in 16- to 49-year-olds, could have been prevented by curbing cannabis addiction.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness where people appear to lose touch with reality. Symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, slurred speech, trouble with thinking, and lack of motivation.

Dr. Nora Volkow, director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse, said, “The entanglement of substance use disorders and mental illnesses is a major public health issue, requiring urgent action and support for people who need it,”

“As access to potent cannabis products continues to expand, it is crucial that we also expand prevention, screening, and treatment for people who may experience mental illnesses associated with cannabis use.

As many countries and U.S. states have legalized cannabis in recent years, experts are warning that serious psychotic conditions could also increase.

“Increases in the legalisation of cannabis over the past few decades have made it one of the most frequently-used psychoactive substances in the world, while also decreasing the public’s perception of its harm,” said Dr. Carsten Hjorthøj, lead author of the study at the University of Copenhagen.

“This study adds to our growing understanding that cannabis use is not harmless, and that risks are not fixed at one point in time.”

The authors of the study have called for more research to understand why young men appeared more vulnerable to schizophrenia from heavy cannabis use compared with women.

Texas GOP Rep. Says Americans Should Carry Guns To Stop Active Shooters, Following Mall Shooting

Republican Rep. Pat Fallon of Texas said on Saturday that Americans should carry firearms to protect themselves from active shooters following a mass shooting at a Texas mall.

The shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets in Allen, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, left nine people dead, including the shooter, while seven others were taken to area hospitals. A police officer on the scene engaged and stopped the shooter, local law enforcement said.

“I really think law-abiding citizens should carry. Particularly when… training is not required because, as you said constitutional carry, but getting some training isn’t a bad idea to know the laws and also know how to defend yourself and others properly and within the confines of the law,” Fallon, who represents a congressional district near the location of the shooting, told Fox News host Lawrence Jones. “Unfortunately, there are some places that are gun-free zones where they tell law abiding citizens, you better not bring your firearm.”

“But of course, criminals, by definition, are outlaws, they are outside the law and act outside the law,” Fallon continued. “So… the maximum way to be safe is to arm yourself and know how to use a firearm and support law enforcement.”

Armed citizens stopped six active shooters in 2021, according to an FBI report. A Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) study noted that 34.4% of active shooters were stopped by armed citizens.

Alex Coker, a police officer and firearms instructor, supported Fallon’s call for citizens to get training and carry firearms.

“You have a right to… bear arms, that’s our Second Amendment, a constitutional right to… protect yourself,” Coker told Jones. “But you’ve got to have a way to mark yourself because when you pull that gun out as a concerned patriot, you know, concealed patriot, what have you just become? You’ve just became a man with a gun. You have to have a way to identify yourself, to mark yourself… as a good guy with a gun versus a bad guy with a gun.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) joined Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.

During the interview, Rep. Comer announced that he will hold a press conference on Wednesday with Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa).

Comer said he will disclose specific Biden family bank records in a press conference on Wednesday which could indicate alleged bribery from foreign adversaries.

Citing his "concern about reports that U.S. arms transfers to Ukraine are impeding our ability to prevent a war in Asia by supplying Taiwan with the weapons it needs to deter a Chinese invasion," Hawley wrote: "We should be clear: Taiwan is more important for U.S. national interests than Ukraine. Seizing Taiwan is Beijing’s next step toward dominating the Indo-Pacific region. If Beijing succeeds, it would have dire ramifications for Americans' national security, as well as our economic security and freedom of action. We must not let this happen. His testimony was among more than 2,000 pages relating to the defamation case filed by Virginia Giuffre – who previously claimed she had sex with Prince Andrew “three times.”

The Duke of York vehemently denies all allegations made against him.

When quizzed about the statement Alessi declined to comment – as did a spokesman for the two princes when approached by The Sun.

During testimony relating to “celebrities” he had personally met while working for Epstein, Mr Alessi reeled off a list of names, but no other context was given in the court papers.

His full quote said: “I then listed Senator Mitchell, Prince Andrew, Princess Sarah Ferguson, Miss Yugoslavia, Miss Germany, Alan Dershowitz, Princess Diana’s secretary with her children, Mr Trump, Mr Robert Kennedy Jr, Frederik Fekkai, and a couple Noble prize winners as celebrities that I had seen while working for Mr Epstein.”

Alessi worked at Epstein’s Palm Beach pad from 1991 to 2002.

Diana’s secretary’s name is not given and it is unclear if the former mansion worker meant a female secretary’s children or princes William and Harry.

The claim was questioned by Diana’s ex-secretary Patrick Jephson - who became her full-time private secretary in 1992 after she separated from Prince Charles.

He told The Sun: “I can't think of any occasion when Mr Epstein would have any claim to say he had given hospitality to the Princess of Wales.

The reason, searching for Raul Ruiz Nunez, 66, of 361 Hicks Road in Cleveland who was sentenced on April 20th for aggravated sexual assault of a child after pleading guilty to the charge. He was sentenced to 11-years. The entire time from his over 3-years ago to his sentencing date he had been out on bond with no issues. After Judge Wells pronounced sentence, Ruiz attorney asked the court to allow him to go home and tie up some loose ends and get his affairs in order. After much discussion the Judge agreed to it with the stipulation he return to the San Jacinto County Jail on Monday April 24, 2023 by noon. Ruiz never returned. San Jacinto County Assistant District Attorney Rob Freyer said, “he is on the run, he is in the wind, we do not know where he is, we have dedicated resources prior to this murder happening in locating him.” The District Attorney’s Office is asking the public for assistance. Freyer said, “if you know where he is or have information on Ruiz , reach out to the Sheriff’s Office, any law enforcement agency, Multi-County Crime Stoppers or the U.S, Marshals. Officials say he is now facing additional charges and they believe his family had some involvement.
