It took only 30 minutes on Wednesday for a Miami federal jury to convict a father and his three sons of selling a toxic bleach solution as a “miracle” medical cure out of a fake Florida church’s website to thousands of consumers across the country.

 

Mark Grenon, 65, and sons Jonathan, 37, Joseph, 35, and Jordan, 29, chose to represent themselves in their two-day trial in Miami federal court. But they said nothing during the trial, as if they were silently protesting the proceeding.

 

Only after the 12-person jury hit them with a quick verdict did one of the Grenons speak up. “We will be appealing,” Joseph Grenon said.

 

During the trial and closing arguments, prosecutors had a lot to say about the four defendants from Bradenton, portraying them as con men who used a phony religious front on a website, the Genesis II Church of Health and Healing, to sell $1 million worth of their “Miracle Mineral Solution” in video pitches as a cure for 95% of the world’s known diseases, from AIDS to the coronavirus.

Nebraska Teen Sentenced For Late-Term Abortion, Burning Aborted Child With Help Of Her Mom

 

A young woman from northeastern Nebraska, age 18, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail along with two years of probation for her involvement in burning and burying her aborted child, a crime she carried out with the help of her mother.

 

Celeste Burgess, from Norfolk, pleaded guilty earlier in the year to the charge of concealing or abandoning a dead body. As part of an agreement with prosecutors, two other misdemeanor charges – false reporting and concealing the death of another person – were dropped.

 

The allegations revolve around Celeste and her 42-year-old mother, Jessica Burgess, who are said to have collaborated in terminating the pregnancy.The abortion took place well into Celeste’s third trimester, which, at the time, violated Nebraska law since it banned abortions after 20 weeks of gestation.

 

Reports say that Jessica Burgess acquired abortion pills online, which she then provided to her then-17-year-old daughter during the spring of 2022.

 

Jessica Burgess herself pleaded guilty to providing an illegal abortion, false reporting, and tampering with human skeletal remains earlier this month. In return for her plea, charges of concealing the death of another person and performing an abortion without proper licensing were dismissed. She is scheduled to be sentenced on September 22.

 

The investigation into the abortion began after police received a tip. Investigators obtained a search warrant to access Facebook messages exchanged between the mother and daughter, in which they allegedly discussed the termination of the pregnancy and the disposal of the fetal remains. Subsequently, the police discovered the burnt fetal remains buried in a field north of Norfolk.

 

According to court records, one of the Facebook messages revealed Jessica Burgess instructing her daughter on how to take the pills to induce the abortion.

Rio Tinto won’t be fined over lost radioactive capsule, authorities confirm

 

An investigation into the loss of a radioactive capsule, which sparked a frantic search and unprecedented public health warning earlier this year, has cleared Rio Tinto of wrongdoing.

Key points:

 

The capsule went missing in transit between Newman and Perth in January

It was found after a six-day search along the Great Northern Highway

Rio says no breaches of the radiation safety act had been identified

 

The tiny, but potentially deadly, caesium-137 sample was reported missing on January 25, more than a week after it went missing on a journey between a Pilbara mine site and Perth.

 

Authorities embarked on a search along the truck's 1,400km route using specialised equipment rushed in from around the country, before it was discovered six days later.

 

Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson said at the time crews had "quite literally found the needle in the haystack".

 

An investigation by the state's Radiological Council, chaired by Chief Health Officer Andrew Robertson, remains ongoing.

No breaches of act: Rio Tinto

 

But the ABC has confirmed the council wrote to Rio to say no breaches of the law had been identified.

 

“During its considerations, the council noted Rio Tinto readily and promptly cooperated with the provision of access and information both during the search and throughout the council's inquiry and investigations,” the letter stated.

 

“The inquiry did not identify any breaches of the Radiation Safety Act by Rio Tinto or its licensees or employees and no adverse findings against Rio Tinto or its licensees have been recorded.”

 

Without any finding of wrongdoing, it's understood no penalty will be imposed against the mining giant.

 

A Rio Tinto spokesperson said it was “grateful to the state and federal governments, and all of those involved in the successful recovery of the capsule”.

 

"Our own internal review has identified opportunities for improvement in the selection of radiation gauges and the way they are packaged and transported."

 

The mining company said it had shared that internal review with the Radiological Council.

 

Rio Tinto also said it had delivered on its promise to provide a mobile worker camp to help rebuild flood-ravaged Fitzroy Crossing.

 

The company made the pledge in March, agreeing with the state government the contribution was in lieu of payment for the search.

 

Rio chief executive Simon Trott said at the time the camp was worth $4 million, making it more expensive than the cost of the search.

Guage banned from sale

 

In a statement, Dr Robertson confirmed the investigation was continuing, saying the council was undertaking "further enquiries and actions, including obtaining specialised technical advice".

The peril of the poorly crafted question was on display in Wednesday’s hearing with two whistleblowers on political interference in the Hunter Biden investigation.

 

Most Democrats avoided any questions on the substance of the allegations, focusing instead on everything from systemic racism to the use of the term “two-tiered system of justice” and, of course, Donald Trump.

 

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) often goes where wiser members fear to tread.

 

On this occasion, Goldman may have delivered one of the most damaging moments for the Democrats.

 

In the course of just a few minutes, the junior New York congressman seemed to demolish the defense of President Biden.

 

Goldman was trying to get the witnesses to say there is no evidence that President Biden was personally involved in the alleged felonies of his son.

 

He raised the shocking WhatsApp message that Hunter had allegedly sent to a Chinese official with foreign intelligence contacts.

 

In the message, Hunter wrote: “I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.”

 

Most Democrats have avoided the message, which is incredibly damaging and seems to contradict the president’s long denial of any knowledge or involvement in his son’s dealings.

 

Goldman pressed veteran IRS investigator Gary Shapley about his suggestion that Joe Biden discussed the foreign dealing with his son.

 

Shapley eagerly said he would be happy to explain, but Goldman cut him off and said he did not have time for such explanations.

He said the references to Joe sitting next to his son do not mean that they actually discussed his business.

 

Goldman then went even further and raised a “lunch where Joe Biden came to say hello at the Four Seasons hotel to a lunch that he was having with CEFC executives.”

 

He then reads from the record in how Biden associate Rob Walker described the origins of the meeting with the Chinese officials to get his dad to stop by: “Hunter told his Dad that ‘I may be trying to start a company or try to do something with these guys.’ “

 

Goldman then pounced and said slyly, “Now let me ask you something, that doesn’t sound much like Joe Biden was involved in whatever Hunter was doing with the CEFC if Hunter Biden is telling him that he is trying to do business with them, does it?”

 

That is when Shapley stated the obvious: “No, but it does show that he told his father that he was trying to do business and …”

 

Goldman finally heard the train whistle and tried to get off the track: “OK, well, that is true that Hunter Biden does try to do business, that is correct.”

 

Too late.

 

Goldman was citing the testimony of Walker that Joe Biden not only came to lunch on Hunter’s foreign dealings but did so after being told that Hunter wanted to lay the foundation for such a deal.

 

This is the same Joe Biden who has repeatedly told the American people that he never discussed any of Hunter’s deals and had no knowledge of such deals.

 

He has maintained that denial as evidence has mounted contradicting him.

 

Even when he flew his son to China, where Hunter cut lucrative deals, he insists that they never mentioned that deal.

 

There are also repeated references to President Biden as the “Big Guy” in emails who was to receive a 10 percent cut on a deal with the Chinese as well as other benefits.

 

There are other references to Hunter Biden paying portions of his father’s expenses and taxes.

 

People apparently were told to avoid directly referring to President Biden.

 

In one email, Hunter’s business associate Tony Bobulinski was instructed by Biden associate James Gilliar not to speak of the former veep’s connection to any transactions: “Don’t mention Joe being involved, it’s only when u [sic] are face to face, I know u [sic] know that but they are paranoid.”

 

Bobulinski gave testimony that he met with Joe Biden and discussed these deals with him.

(The Hill) — Amazon announced Thursday it is rolling out its pay-by-palm services in Whole Foods Market stores across the country, making it possible for customers to use their palm for purchases without a wallet or phone.

 

The palm recognition service, called Amazon One, will be available for payment and Prime membership benefits in all Whole Foods Market locations by the end of this year. Instead of traditional payment methods, the Amazon One allows customers to hover their pam over an Amazon One device.

 

Customers who link their Prime membership with their Amazon One profile will also automatically receive savings once their palm is registered, according to the Seattle-based retail giant.

Launched in 2021, Amazon said the technology “uses the information embedded in your palm to create a unique palm signature that it can reach each and every time you use it.”

 

Technology experts have expressed concerns in the past over Amazon’s collection of such data. Amazon said customers’ information is not stored on an Amazon One device and “is protected at all times, both at rest and in-transit,” adding it treats palm signatures like other highly sensitive personal data.

 

Whole Foods is among 400 locations using Amazon One technology, others including Panera Bread, Coors Field in Colorado, airport travel retailers, sports and entertainment venues.

Historic photo of Lilly

Lilly was one of the first Appalachian settlements in present day West Virginia, settled by Robert and Frances Lilly in the 1700s along with Josiah Meador and their families. The Bluestone area was used by Native Americans before this time because of its abundant supply of natural resources. The area offers a wide variety of flora and fauna that is still widely enjoyed and explored today.

 

Robert Lilly and Josiah Meadors chose the area to carve a new way of life for themselves and their families. They moved from Dublin Pulaski, Virginia, to what is present-day West Virginia. Both families settled on the Bluestone River, where they survived by subsistence farming and logging. It has been said the families arrived with a bible, an axe, and a gun and created a new life on wild and rugged land. Lilly soon became home to over thirty families.

 

Lilly continued to thrive until the mid 1900s when the construction of the Bluestone Dam began. Construction calculations predicted Lilly would be underwater, and residents were forced to move. Cemeteries were exhumed and moved to new locations. Buildings, churches, and homes were all destroyed or moved to new locations. A few of their foundations still remain, offering a tangible link to the families who once struggled to survive here. While walking through the old settlement of Lilly today you can still see foundations of old structures scattered throughout the area, or a coal bucket laying on the ground offering one of the only clues that a once thriving community was based here.

 

From the original settlers a great family emerged. The Lilly family is one of the largest families in the world. Family members come each year to celebrate on the Lilly Family grounds in Flat Top to enjoy the memories and bond close to the original settlement of Lilly. The Lilly reunion began in the early 1900s and still continues today, being recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest family reunion in the world. Lilly is still a beautiful sight that can be explored and will be preserved for future generations.

This pattern of cities receiving kingship and then falling or being defeated, only to be succeeded by the next, is present throughout the entire text, often in the exact same words. This first section lists eight kings who ruled over five cities (apart from Eridu and Bad-tibiru, these also included Larag, Zimbir and Shuruppag). The duration of each reign is also given. In this first section, the reigns vary between43,200and28,800 yearsfor a total of 241,200 years. The section ends with the line "Then the flood swept over". Among the kings mentioned in this section is the ancient Mesopotamian god Dumuzid (the later Tammuz).

 

From this list we can determine the approximate timeline of the creation of man (pre Homo Sapiens and subsequent) and all of the data in this one video could be a great explanation of the occult meaning of the texts.

But he earned some of my trust in the recent years and one thing I think about some times. He met with a politician from my homeland named Alice Weidel in 2018. I like her. BACKGROUND: Initially, the FBI refused to hand over the unclassified FD-1023 stating there is an ongoing investigation using the confidential human source who made allegations outlined in the document. Remember, the allegations and the statement record were created in July of 2020, over three years ago. The FBI refused to say the 6-page unclassified document existed. After House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told FBI Director Chris Wray, he had already seen the unclassified document via a whistleblower, then Comey admitted the FBI indeed had it. On June 1st the FBI is refused to release the document, stating it was captive as part of an “ongoing investigation.” Today, Chuck Grassley released it.

Grassley – “For the better part of a year, I’ve been pushing the Justice Department and FBI to provide details on its handling of very significant allegations from a trusted FBI informant implicating then-Vice President Biden in a criminal bribery scheme. While the FBI sought to obfuscate and redact, the American people can now read this document for themselves, without the filter of politicians or bureaucrats, thanks to brave and heroic whistleblowers. What did the Justice Department and FBI do with the detailed information in the document? And why have they tried to conceal it from Congress and the American people for so long? The Justice Department and FBI have failed to come clean, but Chairman Comer and I intend to find out,” Grassley said.

 

“The FBI’s Biden Bribery Record tracks closely with the evidence uncovered by the Oversight Committee’s Biden family influence peddling investigation. In the FBI’s record, the Burisma executive claims that he didn’t pay the ‘big guy’ directly but that he used several bank accounts to conceal the money. That sounds an awful lot like how the Bidens conduct business: using multiple bank accounts to hide the source and total amount of the money,” House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer said.

 

“At our hearing with IRS whistleblowers, they testified that they had never seen or heard of this record during the Biden criminal investigation, despite having potentially corroborating evidence. Given the misconduct and politicization at the Department of Justice, the American people must be able to read this record for themselves. I thank Senator Grassley for providing much needed transparency to the American people. We must hold the Department of Justice accountable for seeking to bury this record to protect the Bidens.”

 

Grassley first disclosed the FBI’s possession of significant and voluminous evidence of potential criminality involving the Biden family last year. He has since worked to unearth the FBI record, eventually partnering with Comer on a subpoena to compel its public disclosure. After delays, the FBI provided a highly redacted version of the document to select members of the House of Representatives, but it remained shielded from the public and omitted key details, including references to recordings. Following the FBI’s failure to fully comply with the congressional subpoena, Grassley received the legally protected disclosure with limited redactions to protect a trusted FBI source, handling agents, department whistleblowers and identifiers related to other ongoing investigations. On Thursday, Senator Chuck Grassley released an FBI informant file where a confidential human source (CHS) allegedly explains a $10 million bribe that was paid to President Joe Biden and his son Hunter by Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of Ukraine natural gas company Burisma Holdings.

 

According to the June 2020 file, the CHS alleges that Zlochevsky told him that "it cost 5 (million) to pay one Biden, and 5 (million) to another Biden." He also alleges that Zlochevsky told him that Hunter "through his dad" would take care of issues surrounding Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin's investigation into the organization.

 

At the time Burisma was looking to purchase a US-based entity to operate and an investigation would make it difficult to find investors. Around the same time, Joe Biden made a public statement alleging that Shokin was corrupt and should be fired.

 

Zlochevsky told the CHS that he had to keep Hunter Biden on the board "so everything will be ok," even though he thought Hunter Biden "was stupid and his (Zlochecksy's) dog was smarter." The CHS also said that when asked if Hunter or Joe Biden told him Zlochevsky that he should keep Hunter on, he replied "They both did."

 

The CHS's opinion to Zlochevsky was that he should fire Hunter Biden and deal with the investigation so that the issue didn't become an international affair. Zlochevsky assured him that "it was too late to change his decision" and to not worry, "this thing will all go away anyway."

 

In a later conversation, Zlochevsky that he has "many text messages" and recordings that would show that he was "somehow coerced into paying the Bidens to ensure Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired." CHS specified that he claimed to have 17 recordings with the Bidens, where Joe was in two and the other 15 were just Hunter.

 

The file notes that “CHS mentioned Zlochevsky might have difficulty explaining suspicious wire transfers that may evidence any (Illicit) payments to the Bidens.” Zlovchesky responded to CHS that "he did not send any funds directly to the ‘Big Guy’ (which CHS understood was a reference to Joe Biden)." Zlochevsky told him that it would take them 10 years to find the records.

 

The New York Post notes that the "big guy" reference was allegedly how President Biden was referred to in a deal with CEFC China Energy when discussing his 10 percent cut, however, the Burisma file was created before that information was public.

 

The release of the documentation confirms a statement by House Oversight Committee member Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) earlier this month about the $10 million bribe. Hunter Biden was paid $83,000 a month to sit on the Burisma board according to reports.

 

Joe Biden is accused of threatening to pull a $1 billion US loan guarantee when he was the vice president to get Shokin fired. Shokin was eventually fired, and the US issued the money.

WASHINGTON — A bombshell FBI informant file describing a $10 million bribery allegation against President Biden and his son Hunter was released Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley, showing that a Ukrainian oligarch claimed that he was “coerced” into making the payoff.

 

Mykola Zlochevsky, the owner of natural gas company Burisma Holdings, told the FBI informant in 2016 while meeting at a coffee shop in Vienna, Austria, that “it cost 5 [million] to pay one Biden, and 5 [million] to another Biden,” according to the redacted FD-1023 form.

 

“Zlochevsky made some comment that although Hunter Biden ‘was stupid, and his (Zlochevsky’s) dog was smarter,’ Zlochevsky needed to keep Hunter Biden (on Burisma’s board) ‘so everything will be okay,’” the June 2020 document says.

 

The source asked whether Hunter Biden or Joe Biden told Zlochevsky he should “retain” the younger Biden; Zlochevsky allegedly replied, “They both did.”

 

The federal informant — a Ukrainian-American who has been a trusted, highly credible FBI source for over a decade and been paid “six figures,” according to Grassley — described four conversations with Zlochevsky, beginning with a meeting near Kyiv in late 2015 or early 2016 and continuing through a 2019 phone call.

 

The informant said each of his conversations with Zlochevsky occurred in the presence of a man named Alexander Ostapenko — giving the FBI a possible supporting witness.

 

Ostapenko “introduced” the informant to Zlochevsky and “works in some office for the administration of [Ukrainian] President [Volodymyr] Zelensky,” the file says.

 

Zlochevsky allegedly claimed to have 17 recordings of conversations with the Bidens — two of which involved Joe — as well as “many text messages” and two documents that the informant “understood to be” financial records of “payment(s) to the Bidens.”

 

According to Zlochevsky, the recordings and other evidence showed he was “somehow coerced into paying the Bidens to ensure Ukraine Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin was fired,” the FBI source added.

 

In their final discussion, Zlochevsky allegedly told the informant over the phone that he had been an “oracle” for warning against partnering with the Bidens due to political controversy in the US.

 

“[The informant] mentioned Zlochevsky might have difficulty explaining suspicious wire transfers that may evidence any (Illicit) payments to the Bidens,” the file says.

The “big guy” reference is significant because the same nickname was used to describe a tentative 10% cut for Joe Biden in 2017 as part of a partnership with Chinese-government-linked CEFC China Energy. The moniker wasn’t publicly known until October 2020 — months after the informant file was created.

 

At the Vienna meeting in 2016, Zlochevsky allegedly described Hunter as a conduit to his father when asked about Shokin’s investigation of Burisma.

 

“Zlochevsky replied something to the effect of, ‘Don’t worry Hunter will take care of all of those issues through his dad.’ [The informant] did not ask any further questions about what that specifically meant,” the file reported.

 

Joe Biden has publicly said that he used $1 billion in US loan guarantees as leverage to force Shokin from office, which happened in March 2016. “Well, son of a bitch. He got fired,” Biden bragged at a 2018 event hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations.

 

Hunter Biden’s employment with Burisma emerged as a major US news story in 2019 when then-President Donald Trump was impeached for pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Bidens. House Democrats pointed out that although Shokin’s office had investigated Burisma, evidence indicated that his firing also was sought by US allies in Europe due to his own corruption.

 

In addition to the prosecutor’s ouster, former White House stenographer Mike McCormick says Joe Biden advocated US support for Ukraine’s natural gas industry during a trip to Kyiv just days after Hunter quietly joined Burisma, in what he described as a clear conflict of interest.

 

White House spokesman Ian Sams said in a statement that “congressional Republicans, in their eagerness to go after President Biden regardless of the truth, continue to push claims that have been debunked for years and that they themselves have cautioned to take ‘with a grain of salt’ because they could be ‘made up.’”

 

“These claims have reportedly been scrutinized by the Trump Justice Department, a Trump-appointed US Attorney, and a full impeachment trial of the former President that centered on these very issues, and over and over again, they have been found to lack credibility,” Sams said.

 

“It’s clear that congressional Republicans are dead-set on playing shameless, dishonest politics and refuse to let truth get in the way. It is well past time for news organizations to hold them to basic levels of factual accountability for their repeated and increasingly desperate efforts to mislead both the public and the press.”

 

Hunter Biden’s legal team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 

President Biden has tried to laugh off the bribery accusation, saying last month in response to a question from The Post, “Where’s the money?”

 

House Republicans are investigating references on Hunter Biden’s laptop to Burisma opening a Maltese bank account in 2016.

Zlochevsky has not publicly commented on the bribery allegation since it surfaced publicly on May 3, but he allegedly said in 2019 to Ukrainian-born businessman Lev Parnas, a former associate of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, that representatives of his company never spoke to Joe Biden.

 

According to a transcript provided by Parnas to Politico in 2020, Zlochevsky said, “No one from Burisma ever had any contacts with VP Biden or people working for him during Hunter Biden’s engagement.”

 

Parnas, who broke with Trump and Giuliani in 2019, was convicted in 2021 of making illegal campaign contributions to Trump’s campaign, for which he was sentenced to 20 months in prison.

 

In fact, there’s evidence that then-Vice President Joe Biden met with Burisma employees. He met with his son’s partner Devon Archer in 2014 around the time both Hunter Biden and Archer joined the Burisma board, according to Obama White House visitor logs, and golfed with him later that year.

 

Joe Biden also met with Burisma executive Vadym Pozharskyi at an April 16, 2015, dinner at DC’s Cafe Milano, as revealed in The Post’s first bombshell report in October 2020 on the contents of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop.

 

The FBI has informed members of Congress that the bribery tip was referred to the office of Delaware US Attorney David Weiss for further investigation, though it’s unclear what has been done since to determine its accuracy. A spokeswoman for Weiss declined to comment when contacted by The Post Thursday evening.

 

IRS supervisory agent Gary Shapley testified to the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday that federal tax agents weren’t told of the large alleged bribe amounts during their five-year investigation of Hunter for tax fraud.

 

“Information like this would have been really helpful to have,” Shapley said. “The team, to the best of my knowledge, never saw that [FD-1023] document.”

 

The informant file was created after the FBI found an earlier reference to the malfeasance in a 2017 report from the same informant, according to members of Congress involved in oversight investigations.

 

It’s unclear when exactly the alleged payments would have been made by Burisma, which first added Hunter Biden to its board in April 2014 as his dad assumed control of the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy.

 

Burisma paid Hunter up to $1 million per year through 2019, apart from the alleged bribes.

Grassley (R-Iowa), who released a redacted version of the four-page document, asked in a statement, “What did the Justice Department and FBI do with the detailed information in the document? And why have they tried to conceal it from Congress and the American people for so long?”

The allegation has been the subject of intense political focus since it was first described publicly and Republican members of Congress have floated impeaching the president if supporting evidence is found.

 

FBI Director Christopher Wray allowed members of the House Oversight Committee to read the document last month after the bureau initially refused — sparking a brief push by panel chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) to hold Wray in contempt, which resulted in the FBI agreeing to allow legislators to read the file in a secure room at the Capitol.

No doubt you’ve seen a lot in the news in recent days about a congressional subpoena for an FBI FD-1023 form. We wanted to share directly with you what the Office of Congressional Affairs (OCA) and the Office of Public Affairs (OPA) have been doing to handle this in a responsible manner, as well as communications we have had that you might not be able to easily find publicly. Bottom line, we’ve approached this request the same as we would any other — working in good faith to find a resolution that satisfies Congress’s legitimate oversight interests, while protecting important FBI interests like the safety of FBI sources and the integrity of our investigations.

 

 

What are FD-1023s, and why is protecting them important?

 

As many of you know, the FD-1023 is the form our special agents use to record raw, unverified reporting from confidential human sources (CHSs). FD-1023s merely document that information; they do not reflect the conclusions of investigators based on a fuller context or understanding. Recording this information does not validate it, establish its credibility, or weigh it against other information known or developed by the FBI in our investigations.

 

Protecting this type of information from wider disclosure is crucial to our ability to recruit sources and ensure the safety of the source or others mentioned in the reporting. CHSs are critical to cases across all FBI programs — whether it’s violent crime, drug cartels, or terrorism. It would be difficult to effectively recruit these sources if we can’t assure them of their confidentiality. And without these sources, we would not be able to build the cases that are so important to keeping Americans safe.

What has Congress asked for, and how has the Bureau responded?

 

On May 3, 2023, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Accountability issued a subpoena to the FBI requesting an “unclassified FD-1023 form.” On May 10, OCA responded in writing to the committee, assuring them of the FBI’s commitment to working with them to provide information necessary for their legitimate oversight interest while also protecting CHS information. OCA staff followed up with an in-person meeting with committee staff on May 15 to learn more about their legislative interests and specific informational needs.

 

Subsequently, on May 22, a deputy assistant director (DAD) of the FBI’s Directorate of Intelligence briefed committee staff. That briefing:

 

Included a detailed discussion of the Attorney General’s Guidelines regarding the Use of FBI Confidential Human Sources policy — which strictly limits when and how CHS information can be provided outside of the FBI — as well as the reasons behind the policy.

Emphasized the importance of the FBI protecting not only the identity of a specific CHS but also information that would tend to identify the source, such as contextual material found in many of the kinds of investigative materials requested by the committee, such as FD-1023s.

Explained the importance of closely protecting source information to preserve sources and methods and maintain investigative integrity, to prevent a potential decline in the FBI’s recruitment of sources and their candor in reporting, and to protect sources and individuals associated with them from being physically harmed or even killed. The briefing highlighted that the FBI’s obligation to protect CHS information extends at least for the life of the source.

Presented an overview of the various levels of approval that go into reviewing FD-1023s, as well as the policies that govern how FD-1023s are routed internally. The DAD outlined how the FBI analyzes the veracity of source reporting and the internal oversight mechanisms designed to weigh reporting against other information known or developed by the FBI, and cautioned that raw, unverified source reporting may lack that important context.

On May 30, OCA communicated with the committee to inform them that we had identified responsive information that we were prepared to offer the committee as an extraordinary accommodation and that a previously scheduled call between Director Wray and the chairman would still take place the following day.

 

On May 31, Director Wray had separate calls with the chairman and ranking member. The Director discussed the good faith efforts the FBI has taken to accommodate the committee’s request. He also conveyed that the FBI had identified an FD-1023 that the FBI believes is responsive to the subpoena. The Director further offered to produce that document with limited redactions for review at their earliest convenience, along with an important briefing to provide context to the document.

Today, June 5, the FBI produced to the chairman, ranking member, and limited staff members an FD-1023 containing minimal redactions that was responsive to the committee’s subpoena. The minimally redacted document was produced on a read-and-return basis, which means the document was not left with the committee at the conclusion of the briefing. In addition, two FBI senior executives provided a contextual briefing on the document, the importance of protecting the safety of CHSs, and the integrity and effectiveness of the FBI’s CHS program. The safeguards the FBI placed on the production of this information are important, not only for the integrity of FBI investigations but also the protection and safety of our sources. Moreover, these safeguards are routinely employed in response to congressional requests and in court proceedings.

 

Throughout this entire process, both OCA and OPA have communicated that this is an extraordinary accommodation given the sensitivities surrounding FBI FD-1023s. Over the past three-plus weeks, OPA has released six public statements about this matter, including the following:

 

“Director Wray has offered to produce the requested document, with limited redactions to protect the confidentiality and safety of sources, by bringing it to a secure location in the U.S. Capitol for the chair and ranking member to review. The FBI has continually demonstrated its commitment to working with the committee to accommodate its request, from scheduling briefings and calls to now allowing the chair and ranking member to review information in person. By offering to provide access to the requested document in combination with a briefing to offer context, the FBI has agreed in good faith to give the committee all of the information it originally asked for and more. The commonsense protections the FBI has requested to maintain the confidentiality of that sensitive information are routinely employed both in response to congressional requests and in court in criminal proceedings to protect the physical safety of sources and the integrity of investigations. The FBI remains committed to cooperating with the committee in good faith.”

 

As you’ve heard Director Wray say repeatedly, the FBI must always be committed to doing the right thing in the right way. We’ve attempted to achieve that in our handling of this subpoena, striking an appropriate balance between upholding our commitment to cooperating with congressional oversight and protecting our confidential sources. We thought it was important for you, our FBI workforce, to have the full picture of our efforts on this matter.

The Newish Jewish Encyclopedia defines Ashkenormativity as the assumption that "Jewish life and culture is limited primarily to the experiences and customs of Ashkenazi Jews". The encyclopedia asserts that most American Jews, both Ashkenazi and non-Ashkenazi, have internalized Ashkenormative views due to the historical prominence of Ashkenazim within American Jewish life.[7]

 

The Oxford Handbook of Jewishness and Dance defines Ashkenormativity as "an Ashkenazi, or European Jewish, centricity in relation to dominant formulations of Jewish culture".[8]

Rand Paul: We Have Referred Fauci to DOJ for Prosecution for Lying to Congress

 

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News Daily he has referred Dr. Anthony Fauci for prosecution, explaining that the former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases chief lied during his testimony before Congress.

 

Paul initially said he gave Fauci the benefit of the doubt in 2020, deeming Fauci a “disinterested public health figure.” But as he had further interactions with him, he concluded the former White House medical adviser was a “dishonest” individual, determined to cover up his initial response to the coronavirus pandemic.

 

He pointed to further evidence this week–the emergence of an email featuring Fauci summarizing a phone call in early 2020.

 

“This is when they’re just beginning to look into the pandemic. And in that email, he basically says, ‘Yes, we’re suspicious that this could be a manipulated virus because it came from a lab in Wuhan, where they do gain of function research,’ and he describes the research,” Paul said.

 

“Well, this directly contradicts everything he said in committee hearing to me, denying absolutely that they funded any gain of function, and it’s absolutely a lie,” he said.

 

The Kentucky senator continued, pointing to an “exchange of emails between Anthony Fauci and half a dozen prominent international virologists, and these emails go back and forth.”

 

“These virologists from around the world are saying, they’re looking at the genetic sequence of COVID-19, and they find that there are some striking, strikingly unusual characteristics of it that make it look like it’s been manipulated in the lab. And this band of close virologists that are his close buddies–and these are all people who have been proponents previously of gain of function research, creating viruses that don’t occur in nature to experimentation — they all tell him it looks manipulative,” he said, explaining that they then had a phone call discussing it on February 1, 2020.

 

“So he [Fauci] summarizes the phone call, about a day later, and it’s in an email that they have never released to us, but then finally was obtained through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and through the House involvement through threat of subpoena,” Paul explained, adding that these are things he has been trying to get out for two years.

 

In the email, Fauci summarizes the call and “describes the worry among all these virologists, himself included — he’s not a virologist, but he also has worries and is worried that it looks like it’s been manipulated,” Paul said.

 

“And this is especially suspicious because we know they do gain of function research in Wuhan, and he describes the research,” the senator continued.

 

So essentially, lawmakers have proof Fauci funded this research and proof he acknowledged it. Before Congress, however, Fauci said unequivocally that they had never funded gain of function research, which Paul said is a “lie.”

 

Paul also said Fauci has attempted to cover his lie by essentially changing the definition of gain of function — something that Paul questioned him about during a November 2021 hearing in which the senator accused the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of changing the definition to cover Fauci’s “ass.”

Celeste Burgess, 19, pleaded guilty in May to one count of removing, concealing, or abandoning a dead body, as part of a plea deal in Madison County District Court.

 

Burgess' face was torn in anguish on Thursday as she was taken away in handcuffs to the cells by an officer in photos captured by The Norfolk Daily News.

 

Her mother Jessica Burgess helped the teen, who was then 17, abort the baby almost six months into her pregnancy - and the 42-year-old has also pleaded guilty to providing an illegal abortion, false reporting, and tampering with human remains.

 

Celeste was at least 23 weeks pregnant when she took an abortion pill to prompt a stillbirth in April last year, when the legal limit in Nebraska was 20 weeks - which has since been reduced to 12 weeks.

The origin of the Ashkenazi Jews, who come most recently from Europe, has largely been shrouded in mystery. But a new study suggests that at least their maternal lineage may derive largely from Europe.

 

Though the finding may seem intuitive, it contradicts the notion that European Jews mostly descend from people who left Israel and the Middle East around 2,000 years ago. Instead, a substantial proportion of the population originates from local Europeans who converted to Judaism, said study co-author Martin Richards, an archaeogeneticist at the University of Huddersfield in England.

 

But depending on whether the lineage gets traced through maternal or paternal DNA or through the rest of the genome, researchers got very different answers for whether Ashkenazi originally came from Europe or the Near East.

 

Past research found that 50 percent to 80 percent of DNA from the AshkenaziY chromosome, which is used to trace the male lineage,originated in the Near East, Richards said. That supported a story wherein Jews came from Israel and largely eschewed intermarriage when they settled in Europe. [The Holy Land: 7 Amazing Archaeological Finds]

 

But historical documents tell a slightly different tale. Based on accounts such as those of Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, by the time of the destruction of the Second Temple in A.D. 70, as many as 6 million Jews were living in the Roman Empire, but outside Israel, mainly in Italy and Southern Europe. In contrast, only about 500,000 lived in Judea, said Ostrer, who was not involved in the new study.

 

"The major Jewish communities were outside Judea," Ostrer told LiveScience.

The plaintiffs, Gabriel Rench and Sean and Rachel Bohnet, alleged that their rights under the First and Fourth Amendments were violated when they were detained for not wearing masks.

The peaceful protest took place in front of Moscow City Hall, with participants from Christ Church, a local congregation of approximately 1,000 members. The arrests garnered widespread attention when footage went viral, drawing condemnation from then-President Trump on Twitter.

Moscow, Idaho, announced a $300,000 settlement this week with three Christian churchgoers who sued the city after being arrested during a "psalm sing" at an outdoor service in September 2020.

Accusations of not loving his neighbor and being labeled "an idiot" have been hurled at him by members of his community, urging him to "take the money and run.

"I think it's no secret that portions of our government and political groups are now starting to target Christians in a way that has never really happened in America or Canada," Rench says, noting how he knows some of the pastors who have been jailed in neighboring Canada in recent years for holding church services.

"I'm in a conservative state, but I live in a liberal town, and the liberals had no problem arresting me for practicing my religious rights and my Constitutional rights," he continues. "But my [Republican] governor also didn't defend me either. If you look at what's going on in Canada, I think America's 10 years, at most 20 years, behind Canada if we don't make significant changes."

The legal battle extends to the family of Douglas Wilson, the senior pastor of Christ Church, whose son and grandsons received misdemeanor charges for protesting the arrests. Placing stickers on city utility poles, depicting a hammer and sickle with the phrase "Soviet Moscow, enforced because we care," the grandsons sought to challenge the city's COVID and mask mandate slogan. Wilson expects the case to reach the Idaho Supreme Court.

Wilson emphasizes the connection between his family's experience and broader concerns about the Department of Justice targeting people of faith under President Biden's administration. He is sounding the alarm that private citizens increasingly face the threat of being financially burdened by the government's seemingly limitless resources.

"The saying that 'You can't fight city hall,' I think, largely has to do with finances," he said, adding that authorities are using criminal prosecution to punish political dissent. "And it's also what's happening with the DOJ, only writ large. So basically, we're dealing with the weaponization of the justice system. We are seeing it here in small-town America, and you see it in Washington, D.C."

The settlement in Moscow highlights the ongoing challenges Christians face in certain areas, particularly when expressing their faith in public settings. As the case continues to unfold, it brings into focus the need for protecting religious liberties and upholding the rights enshrined in the Constitution.

President Joe Biden, 80, now almost exclusively uses Air Force One's shorter, retractable stairs to board the presidential aircraft, after he stumbled up the plane's steps several times and questions were raised about his health as he runs for reelection.

 

Politico reported Wednesday that two Biden advisers privately acknowledged that the president's now-frequent use of the shorter staircase was intentional to ensure easier travel and minimize the chances of him taking another spill.

 

Presidents have the option of using a staircase on wheels - with 26 steps to climb - or a shorter, 14-step staircase that folds into the plane.

 

While Biden continues to use the taller staircase, thus making a grander entrance, when he arrives at various destinations, he's been opting to take the shorter staircase to board the plane on almost every occasion since falling over a sandbag last month.

 

The president first lost the battle against Air Force One's rickety exterior staircase just two months into his tenure, in March 2021, as he headed to Atlanta, Georgia.

It happened a third time in early March, as the president briefly stumbled as he boarded his plane en route to Selma, Alabama.

 

He's had other spills too.

 

There was the time last June in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, when the president got his shoe stuck in his bike's toe-clip, falling over sideways in front of a crowd of onlookers and reporters.

 

His biggest stumble of late happened when he tripped over a sandbag at the U.S. Air Force Academy's graduation ceremony in Colorado last month.

 

The White House won't officially acknowledge accommodations are being made.

 

Late last month, Bloomberg's Justin Sink asked Karine Jean-Pierre about Biden using the shorter staircase during an in-flight gaggle aboard Air Force One.

Sink pointed out that shortly after Biden's sandbag stumble he started using the retractable stairs and asked the press secretary if the president was experiencing 'mobility problems.'

 

'If it's to address - you know, he's had a couple incidents falling on the stairs getting up and you guys just decided it would be better for him,' Sink mused.

 

Jean-Pierre responded by saying that she didn't have 'any decision process to walk through.'

 

'I'm sure there's a protocol that's used for the - for Air Force One. I just don't have it,' she said.

 

'I mean, you guys see the president every day, when it - to speak to - when you - when we speak to mobility. The president always says watch him,' she continued. 'You know, he was a - this was a president - let's not forget, he went to a warzone country in Ukraine and did that in a way that was incredibly effective. The world got to see him out there and meet with President Zelensky. And I think that's incredibly important.'

 

The trip ended with Biden tripping up the stairs of Air Force One.

 

Sink also pointed to the White House's disclosure the day before that the president had started using a CPAP machine to treat his sleep apnea.

 

'We've seen a change in the medical technology he's using, we've seen a behavioral change here. Is there anything that you guys are seeing that represents a medical change of any sort with the president?' Sink pressed. …
