Seven months ago during Grammy week, when every pop star was in Los Angeles, Taylor Hanson, the middle brother of pop-rock trio Hanson and a co-founder of For Women Life Freedom (FWLF), was working the party circuit — but not in the way one might expect. The musician and activist was in town recruiting singers for a passion project, dubbed the Voices Project, that he was organizing that week at the world-famous Jim Henson Studios: a new all-star recording of Iranian singer-songwriter’s Shervin Hajipour’s viral protest anthem, “Baraye.”

 

Hajipour had created the original “Baraye” on his iPhone in response to the shocking September 2022 story of Jina Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who had died in a Tehran hospital under suspicious circumstances after being arrested for allegedly not wearing the hijab in accordance with government standards. Hajipour himself was later arrested by the Iranian government over his song.For Women Life Freedom — a 501c3 non-profit committed to advocating for women’s equal rights as well as for a free and civil society for all Iranians— was launched in an attempt to save Hajipour’s life, as the organization campaigned to secure a nomination for “Baraye” in a brand-new Grammy Special Merit Award category called Song for Social Change.

 

On Feb. 3, 2023, Taylor’s Voices Project began gathering more 16,000 voices, each representing a peaceful political prisoner currently jailed in Iran, eventually setting a world record for the most voices on a single musical recording. Hundreds of people unison-sang in shifts at Henson Studios that day or digitally submitted their vocal tracks from all around the word, and some of the more famous voices included Rufus Wainwright, Ben Folds, Glee stars Darren Criss and Kevin McHale, Cassadee Pope, Ryan Cabrera, Leila Frouhar, Hamid Saeedi (who is also on FWLF's board of directors), Shahbal Shapareh, film director Gus Van Sant, and producer Mark Hudson. And the day after the Voices Project’s marathon Henson recording session, the original “Baraye” actually won the inaugural Song for Social Change award,which was virtually presented to Hajipour by first lady Dr. Jill Biden during the Grammys ceremony.

Q Team, I hope you are filming these DS cronies. They are protected by cops and they have told me the neighbor two houses east of me is a cop years ago.

 

Wife went to church, 8:30 am today, and walks about 4 blocks lengths to bus stop. At end of first block, neighbor at turn had toxic liquid chemicals already in her pathway as neighbor from across the street passes her in her car. By the time she reached the 3rd short block same neighbor in car is driving back and waves. One block later, the only place that is wet is the bus stop; obviously she only had time to spill chemicals as any other shopping would take more than 1 minute.

 

On the way home as she enters our block, a neighbor two houses east of me, sees her and goes up his driveway and gets into his car. As she approaches he pulls out with tail lights facing her and tracks her movement pointing the tail lights as she crosses the street by still going in reverse; then he takes off. They have lights that cause sharp acute pains that can numb or paralyze an area; neck, hands, legs…

 

These are not coincidences, as the neighbor to my west sprays liquid chemicals over his fence in front of my back door daily and on Sundays when he knows she is walking to church he sprays chemical in front of the house. She already knows to hose off the street before getting ready; he evil is predictable. A day ago while tending to the dog outside he used some type of air bladder , you can tell by the explosive bursting sound it makes, which contained dog feces towards our back door.

In August 2022, a visit to Taiwan by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had set off the worst cross-strait crisis in a quarter century. China’s aircraft barreled across the center line of the Taiwan Strait; its ships prowled the waters around the island; its ballistic missiles splashed down in vital shipping lanes. Months after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine had reminded everyone that major war is not an anachronism, the Taiwan crisis made visceral the prospect that a Chinese attack on that island could trigger conflict between the world’s two top powers.

Washington certainly took note. A year earlier, the outgoing chief of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Adm. Philip Davidson, had predicted that a war in the Taiwan Strait could come by 2027. After the August crisis, this “Davidson window” became something like conventional wisdom, with Minihan, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and other U.S. officials predicting that trouble might start even sooner. If the United States and China do clash over Taiwan, it will be the war everyone saw coming—which would make the failure to deter it all the more painful.

To be sure, U.S. President Joe Biden has made deterring that conflict a priority. Despite the long-standing policy of “strategic ambiguity,” Biden has publicly affirmed, four times, that the United States would come to Taiwan’s aid if it were attacked. Yet deterrence is about more than declaratory policy: It requires assembling a larger structure of constraints that preserve the peace by instilling fear of the outcome and consequences of war. British mercenary found tied up and killed in Ukraine

Jordan Chadwick was discovered underwater in mysterious circumstances, the UK Foreign Office has confirmed

 

The body of a British mercenary was found tied up in a body of water in Ukraine earlier this summer, the UK Foreign Office confirmed on Friday. It is unclear who killed the fighter, andUkrainian authoritieshave said that aninvestigation will not be launched until next year.

 

Jordan Chadwick, who served in the British Army from 2011 to 2015, traveled to Ukraine last October to join the International Legion. Lancashire Police told his mother in June that he had been found dead in a body of water with his hands tied behind his back. The Foreign Office confirmed his death to multiple UK media outlets on Friday.

 

The 31-year-old’s body was repatriated to the UK last month. The Ukrainian military will open an inquest into his death in February, the BBC reported.

 

It is unclear where Chadwick died, or who killed him. Likewise it is unclear whether Chadwick was drowned to death, or was dead before he was thrown into the water.

 

Chadwick is one of more than a dozen British nationals killed in Ukraine since the conflict began last February. Those killed include 22-year-old Samuel Newey, who died in combat last month, and Simon Lingard, who was killed by artillery fire in the unsuccessful defense of Artyomovsk/Bakhmut last November.

 

Three days after Russian forces entered Ukraine last year, President Vladimir Zelensky put out an appeal for foreigners to join the country’s International Legion. Thousands answered, but stories of ill-prepared recruits, incompetent commanders, and horrific losses soon emerged. The legion shifted its recruitment efforts solely to military veterans shortly afterwards, but foreign fighters in Ukraine have consistently described conditions on the front line as “hell,” with casualty rates in some units reportedly as high as 85%.

 

Some 12,000 hired guns have traveled to Ukraine since the start of the conflict, the Russian Defense Ministry estimated in July. As of July, just 2,200 remained in the country, with 5,000 killed and the rest fleeing Ukraine, the ministry stated.

 

However, the commander of the Georgian Legion, another foreign mercenary group, claimed in June that the true number offoreign fighters in Ukraine is much higher. Nearly 20,000 foreignerswere serving in Ukraine at that time, Mamuka Mamulashvili told British media, with almost 3,000 British citizens among them.

On Wednesday, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk shared FEC filings on the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that show Liberty Safe’s parent company, Monomoy Capital Partners, has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrats.

 

“I pulled the FEC reports on the company and found approximately $400,000 over the last 10 cycles of max donations to Democrats,” Kirk wrote.

 

“Liberty Safe’s current CEO, Justin Hillenbrand, was a founding partner of Monomoy and donated $4,600 to Obama for America,” Kirk added.

 

In a news release Monomoy Capital issued announcing its acquisition of Liberty Safe in 2021, it called the move “another great example of Monomoy partnering with a branded, market leading, consumer products manufacturer that has garnered an enthusiast customer base throughout the company’s history.”

 

Among the many donations listed, the most notable were to Democratic Sens. Raphael Warnock of Georgia, John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Mark Kelly of Arizona, and former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes of Wisconsin – all of whom have expressed support for gun control.

 

Barnes lost a bid to unseat Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson in November.

 

Kirk’s report comes as Liberty Safe is already facing fierce backlash for giving the FBI the passcode to a customer’s safe.

 

Nathan Earl Hughes of Fayetteville, Arkansas, was arrested on Aug. 30 for his involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion, according to The New York Times.

Colorado’s Democrat Secretary of State Calls Trump a ‘Liar’ for Saying Attempt to Keep Him Off the Ballot is Election Interference

 

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold called former President Trump a “liar” after he asserted that the attempt to keep him off the ballot is election interference.

Griswold bashed the former president and could not contain her contempt and disdain during an interview on MSNBC.

 

“Trump is a liar with no respect for the Constitution,” Griswold said.

 

A liberal organization called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has filed a lawsuit to keep Trump off the Colorado ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which was meant to prohibit former Confederate military and political leaders from holding high federal or state office.

 

The lawsuit claims that this should apply to Trump because of the protest at the Capitol on January 6.

BlackRock Closes China Equity Fund After Congressional Probe

 

World’s largest money manager BlackRock is shutting a China-focused offshore fund amid congressional scrutiny over its alleged role in directing U.S. dollars to blacklisted Chinese firms.

 

In a recent letter to shareholders, BlackRock Global Funds’ chairwoman Denise Voss said they will close the China Flexible Equity Fund over a “lack of shareholder interest” and the investment cost to keep the fund running, which she noted is “not in the best interests of shareholders.”

 

BlackRock intends to liquidate all assets under the fund and redeem any outstanding shares by Nov. 7. Existing shareholders have the options to switch their investments into another fund, sell back their shares ahead of the liquidation date, or receive automatic payments for the shares when the fund closes down.

 

Launched in October 2017, China Flexible Equity Fund has an asset value of around $21.4 million as of late August after a six-year run. It recorded a negative 16.7 percent return in 2021, a number that nearly doubled in 2022, to negative 30.5 percent.

 

The fund closure came just a month after the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party launched a probe into BlackRock and investment index provider MSCI regarding the alleged investments in Chinese companies the U.S. government has deemed problematic.

 

The two firms together facilitated investment into over 60 Chinese entities hit with U.S. sanctions over national security or human rights issues, the lawmakers said, noting their review was far from comprehensive and thus the actual number of benefited Chinese companies is likely higher. Across five funds, BlackRock has invested over $429 million in such Chinese firms against U.S. interests, according to the House committee.

 

Some of the top invested Chinese entities for China Flexible Equity Fund include Tencent, a Chinese state-backed tech giant that had aided Beijing in silencing dissent and spreading propaganda through its popular messaging app WeChat, as well as state-owned hydropower operator China Yangtze Power and Nari Technology, the country’s largest supplier of electric power equipment.

 

In a response to the congressional probe, BlackRock had told The Epoch Times that it “complies with all applicable U.S. government laws” regarding “all investments in China and markets around the world,” and noted that it is one of 16 asset managers offering U.S. index funds that invest in Chinese companies.

 

It didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the China fund closure.

 

But across the board, there are growing signs of wariness from U.S. investors toward the Chinese market. The long-hoped-for economic recovery after the regime lifted its stringent COVID-19 curbs has not happened. Instead, the country faces a slowing economy, with a sharp drop in trade, millions of young Chinese struggling to find a job, a housing crisis, and growing tensions with the United States.
