ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China. He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”

 

An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture. The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.

 

“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who, as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.

 

But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as about China policy. Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.

 

Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism. In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief allies and delighted his chief critics.

 

Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already been in the works and would have been a “more opportune” forum for airing grievances. He added that Mr. Pompeo’s choice to publish in First Things, a conservative Christian magazine that has called Francis a failure as Pope, also mattered.

ROME — Secretary of State Mike Pompeo recently published a sharp letter excoriating the Vatican’s plans to renew an agreement with the Chinese government on Church operations in China. He promoted the article in a tweet, concluding, “The Vatican endangers its moral authority, should it renew the deal.”

 

An indignant Vatican took the article more as a calculated affront than a diplomatic gesture. The friction broke into the open on Wednesday as Mr. Pompeo arrived in Rome and met with prelates and others who are hostile to Pope Francis, while the Vatican denied him a meeting with the pontiff and rebuffed his efforts to derail the deal with China.

 

“Pompeo asked to meet” the pope, who turned him down because Francis had “clearly said that he does not receive political figures ahead of the elections,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who, as secretary of state, is the Vatican’s second-ranking official, told reporters.

 

But to some observers on both sides of the tensions between the Roman Catholic Church and the Trump administration, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is as much about the coming presidential election as about China policy. Mr. Pompeo dismissed that suggestion as absurd, but intended or not, his trip signals that President Trump is on the side of those conservative American Catholics who worry about the church’s direction under Francis and think he is soft on China.

 

Francis and Mr. Trump, who have exchanged sharp words in the past, present starkly different visions on issues ranging from the environment to immigration to the threat of populism. In appealing to the Vatican’s support for religious freedom as a reason to drop its China agreement, Mr. Pompeo seemed to seek common ground, but in a way that upset the pope’s chief allies and delighted his chief critics.

 

Cardinal Parolin said Mr. Pompeo’s article had caused “surprise” at the Vatican, because this visit to Rome by the secretary and the meetings with high officials at the Holy See had already been in the works and would have been a “more opportune” forum for airing grievances. He added that Mr. Pompeo’s choice to publish in First Things, a conservative Christian magazine that has called Francis a failure as Pope, also mattered.

(3) Declare that the state-enforced custom of HHSC-licensed entities and state-authorized immunization providers that require Plaintiffs to engage in discriminatory activities (e.g., segregation, wearing masks, unwanted invasive medical testing, etc.) when they exercise one of two legally protected rights (accept or refuse) regarding the administration of a drug, biologic, or device under the EUA statute or the PREP Act deprives Plaintiffs of their rights under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution as well as rights conferred by federal statutes.

 

(4) Declare that the state-enforced custom of HHSC-licensed entities and state-authorized immunization providers not obtaining legally effective informed consent violates the voluntary nature of the EUA and PREP Act programs and deprives Plaintiffs of their rights under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution as well as rights conferred by federal statutes.

GO train, UP Express service resumes with 'minimal disruptions' after major outage

GO and UP Express trains were running smoothly Wednesday morning after a major service disruption that lasted for hours Tuesday caused commuter chaos throughout the GTA.

 

In its latest statement, GO Transit said service on the lines has resumed with "minimal disruptions.

 

"While we do not anticipate further delays or cancellations, we are committed to providing as much notice as possible to customers in the event of any changes," the statement added.

 

On Tuesday, service was halted due to a network-wide Canadian National Railway (CN) system failure that affected all rail corridors. It gradually resumed throughout the evening hours.

 

"The outage was attributed to an internal system upgrade and affected CN's ability to connect to the internet," CN said in a message to employees.

 

CN apologizes, will review incident

CN's website also appeared to be offline for a period Tuesday afternoon, but was running again by 4 p.m. In a statement at about 8:15 p.m., CN said its internet connectivity has been restored.

 

"CN would like to apologize for the impact caused by this outage. While there continues to be no indication of a cyber security issue, the cause of the outage remains under investigation," the company said in the statement.

 

"During the outage, CN worked with GO to temporarily take over their train dispatching responsibilities," it added.

 

"This allowed for the partial resumption of GO and VIA services. GO Transit has now resumed dispatching their lines and they are working to resume their normal movements. CN will be working with GO to review the incident and put in place processes to avoid further disruptions."

 

CN said its customer service portal is working and its own trains did not experience any delays. No data was affected, it said.

 

Earlier, CN said GO trains, Via trains in and out of Union station, both of which require an internet connection to CN's services, were affected. EXO trains out of Montreal and Amtrak Trains were not affected.

 

Via Rail says service to return to normal Wednesday

Via Rail said in its own post on X that trains entering or leaving Union Station would experience delays Tuesday, and asked passengers to visit its website for updates on their trips.

 

In an email at about 9:45 p.m., Via Rail said it learned in the afternoon that operations were resuming.

 

"As of 3:45 p.m. today we were informed by Metrolinx that trains would slowly start to gain access to the infrastructure and that operations could resume. At the time of the events, 6 VIA Rail trains were running late and delays have continued throughout the night due to rail traffic on the infrastructure," Via Rail said.

 

"Operations should resume as normal tomorrow morning."

This is the horrifying moment a husband and wife are killed as their speedboat races across a river and smashes into a house.

 

Shocking footage shows Timothy and Julie Mertins, 62 and 61, lose control before mounting the bank on Fox River, McHenry County, Illinois.

 

The boat speeds up to the land before splitting in half as it wrecks on the property on Country Club Drive on Saturday.

 

The pair were left trapped under the vessel, with Julie dying on the scene and Timothy passing away on the operating table due to blunt force trauma.

 

The horror crash came just yards from the couple's $660,000 waterfront property, which lies just across the river.

 

Witnesses ran to help the trapped couple as Conner Lively told Lake and McHenry County Scanner he heard an unusually loud bang before ran out to check it out.

 

When Lively, his father and other bystanders arrived at the boat they saw the husband and wife both stuck under the wreckage.

 

They managed to get Timothy out, but struggled to get Julie to safety as Lively said she was 'entirely under the boat'.

 

One witness claimed the couple appeared to be making a tight circle at high speeds when they lost control of the boat.

 

The vessel made a 'huge circle around, back toward the rocks' and took a right-hand turn while still going 'really fast,' the witness said.

 

She also added that the boat did not slow down before it went airborne and crashed on shore.

 

The incident caused the hull of the boat to be separated into two pieces and also resulted in minor damage to the house they hit.

 

Timothy and Julie were family oriented and were both one of six siblings. They had two children together, Troy and Allison. They would have celebrated 33rd wedding anniversary on October 20.

 

According to the couple's obituary, Julie was known as a devoted wife, mother, daughter and sister who 'was selfless and would set her own needs aside if it meant that she could spend time with someone else.

 

She worked as a Property Manager at Avison Young in Chicago since 2016.

 

Timothy was a loving husband, father, son and brother who was 'meticulous about his house, cars, and boat.'

 

They are remembered as a selfless pair who died doing what they loved. 'They did everything together from yard work to grocery shopping,' their obituary read.

 

'If Tim was the Captain, Julie was First Mate, and they loved getting out on the water every chance they had.'

Police have arrested the rightwing commentator Laurence Fox at his home after comments encouraging people to vandalise Ulez cameras.

 

On Wednesday morning Fox’s Reclaim party posted a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, which showed him sitting on the sofa in his living room, as several people dressed in police uniforms and wearing protective plastic gloves milled around him.

 

In the video Fox says: “Look how many coppers there are in my house, look at them coming to steal everything, take everything out of my house. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the country that we live in.” He then gives the camera a thumbs up.

 

In a statement, which did not name Fox, police said: “On Wednesday 4 October officers arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of conspiring to commit criminal damage to Ulez cameras and encouraging or assisting offences to be committed.

 

“He was arrested in Stockwell and has been taken to a south London police station, where he remains in custody.”

 

The Reclaim party posted on social media to confirm Fox had been arrested at his home and taken to a police station.

 

After the arrest, the broadcaster GB News, which last week suspended Fox after he made misogynistic remarks about the political journalist Ava Evans while on the Dan Wootton Tonight show, said it had “ended its employment relationship” with him.

 

In a statement, the broadcaster said its working relationship with the regular presenter Calvin Robinson, who had issued a statement expressing solidarity with Wootton, was also over. The internal investigation into Wootton, who was also suspended, was continuing, it said.

 

Fox’s arrest comes after he featured on a show on the video streaming site Rumble on Tuesday encouraging people to destroy Ulez cameras and saying he would himself take an angle grinder to them.

WASHINGTON D.C. — The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says it is no longer distributing Covid-19 vaccination cards.

 

The white cards were distributed in 2020 as a simple way for the government and vaccine recipients to keep track of doses and to prove vaccination status, CNN reports.

 

It could be used to prove vaccination status for things like large events or international travel.

 

The federal government no longer requires people to show their vaccine card when coming in from outside the country and most counties have also stopped requiring proof of vaccination to enter as well.

 

The CDC says people should still check with their destination before leaving the United States, according to CNN.

 

Vaccine recipients can get a digital or paper copy of their full vaccination record from their state health department’s immunization information system, the CDC states.

The trial of disgraced former FTX CEO and Democrat mega donor Sam Bankman-Fried began on Tuesday as the public sees the tech guru once seen as the “next Warren Buffett” transform into an indicted defendant who told his former girlfriend,“In a lot of ways I don’t really have a soul.”

 

Bankman-Fried faces seven counts of fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering on his alleged use of FTX customer funds on the digital currency trading platform to cover the losses at his hedge fund, Alameda Research. He also reportedly used those funds to purchase real estate and cover other personal expenses. The former crypto CEO has pled not guilty to all counts and he could face a sentence of up to110 years in prison.

 

Despite the loss of customer funds and the general downturn the collapse of FTX created in the digital currency market, Bankman-Fried appeared to be apologetic but denied “any improper use of customer funds.”

 

“I really deeply wish that I had taken like a lot more responsibility for understanding what the details were of what was going on there. A lot of people got hurt, and that’s on me,” he told ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos. (Confirming no soul!)

 

Bankman-Fried in August 2023 had his bail revoked after prosecutors argued he had violated the conditions of bail, and allegedly tampered with witnesses less than two months before trial. His lawyer decried his conditions in jail, which included a lack of vegan meals, claiming his client subsists on only a diet of “bread and water.”

 

Before Bankman-Fried became a defendant, he was considered a rising star , a generous philanthropist, and a major Democrat donor.

Do you know where your Covid-19 vaccine card is? If not, you may want to track it down, because getting a new one could be tricky.

 

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is no longer distributing the white cards that were given out with Covid-19 vaccines earlier in the pandemic, according to the agency’s website.

 

The CDC notes that it does not keep vaccination records and says recipients should contact their state health department’s immunization information system (IIS) if they want to keep track of their Covid-19 shots.

“Your state’s IIS cannot issue you a vaccination card, but they can provide a digital or paper copy of your full vaccination record, including your COVID-19 vaccinations,” the agency says.

 

The CDC recommends keeping a copy of your vaccination record for your primary care provider to help make future medical decisions. And if you take your vaccination record to your doctor’s office, they might be able to give you a new card.

 

But major pharmacy chains say you don’t need your old card to get the newly updated vaccine.

 

“A vaccination card is not required for vaccination, but our pharmacists will complete them if patients bring them in,” CVS said in a statement Tuesday.

 

People who received an immunization at CVS Pharmacy or a Minute Clinic can access their vaccination records on the CVS Health Dashboard, the company says.

 

If you have your card, Walgreens suggests bringing it to your next vaccine appointment.

 

“We recommend individuals bring their dose card or vaccination details to the appointment so immunizers can update with booster details, but it is not required. Walgreens will ask people to verify their age and vaccination status,” the company said in a statement Tuesday.

 

Walmart said in a statement that “If patients receiving the vaccine request that the dose is added to the vaccine card the patient already has, our pharmacists are happy to do so.”

 

Rite Aid also says it will no longer be requiring vaccine cards.

 

Covid-19 vaccination cards debuted in late 2020 as a simple way for the government and vaccine recipients to keep track of doses delivered and could be used to prove vaccination status for things like large events and international travel.

Constructing your own aluminum foil Faraday cage to protect your sensitive electronics from an EMP is fairly straightforward but you must pay close attention to detail.

 

Remember the following tips and guidelines as you read the instructions below. Getting any of this wrong could result in a false sense of security owing to an absence of protection for your electronics.

 

Always use the thickest aluminum foil you can find. If you cannot find heavy-duty aluminum foil, that is okay, you might need to construct additional layers in your Faraday cage for maximum protection. To do this, you just wrap the aluminum foil 3-4 times.

Aluminum foil is electrically conductive. That means the items you are protecting cannot be in direct contact with the foil layer, or else they will be fried when the EMP hits it. As such you should always place a thick layer of plastic between the object you’re protecting and the layer of aluminum foil.

You must take all precautions that neither your aluminum foil nor the insulating plastic layers have any holes, no rips or tears in them, or else protection might be reduced or lost.

According to multiple DC media sources, a quiet effort is underway by members of the professionally republican mindset to kick Matt Gaetz out of the House Republican caucus. However, the advocates worry they will be primaried by voters in their district, as the population of Republican voters supports Gaetz. It is a duplicitous dynamic.

 

Meanwhile, Kevin McCarthy has told his Republican conference that despite prior statements, he will not attempt to become the House Speaker again and will instead retire to his home district in California.

 

No one is quite sure what comes next; what is clear is that Gaetz has channeled the frustration of the Republican/MAGA base into an actionable result. This should not come as a surprise to the GOPe, although many of the cloistered clans continue pretending not to understand the dynamic at play.

 

Allow me to provide some simple clarity.

 

♦ In 2009 72% of the country, and an even larger percentage of the Republican voters, did not want Obamacare. The govt takeover of healthcare was on purely ideological grounds. For the 2010 midterm election, the professional Republican apparatus campaigned on this single issue – repeal Obamacare. The voters destroyed the Democrats and flipped 67 seats to Republican control. The professional Republicans wanted the House, frustrated American voters gave it to them.

 

The Republicans did nothing.

 

♦ In 2012, the professional Republicans campaigned on retaining the House and asked to begin a process of taking down the Democrat control of the Senate. Remember, it was a 60/40 Senate when the Obamacare boondoggle was begun. Keep the House, help us take Senate seats, and we will repeal Obamacare and balance the budget. That was the call of the 2012 professional Republicans. The voters delivered. The GOPe kept the house, took 6 seats in the Senate and introduced a wave of fresh Republican blood.

 

The Republicans did nothing.

 

♦ In the 2014 midterm election, the professional Republicans campaigned on retaining the House and now flipping the Senate with more GOP seats. Keep the House, give us the Senate majority, and we will repeal Obamacare and deliver a balanced budget. The voters again delivered. Beginning in January 2015, the Republicans controlled the House and the Senate majorities for Obama’s last two years.

 

The Republicans did nothing.

 

Worse still, even with professional Republican control of both chambers of Congress, President Obama never had to use his veto pen.

Worse still, the professional Republicans acted as if they were the dog that just caught the car. Now they had no excuses, and as a result, there was an exodus of retirements announced from the caucus of the professional Republicans to begin in 2018.

 

Simultaneously, the professional Republicans passively allowed the targeting of Donald Trump by a fully weaponized intelligence apparatus and justice system to commence. To say the professional Republicans were willfully blind would be polite and generously honest.

 

In the background the RNC did nothing. The California ballot harvesting operation of 2018 reflected a complete lack of action by the RNC or CA GOP. We all well remember how that operation expanded nationwide in 2020, again with the RNC doing nothing.

 

This is the reality of what took place between the elections of 2010 and 2020. Every ask of the professionally republican apparatus was delivered by voters. Every ask of the voters in return was ignored. Effective January 2021, Obamacare still exists, no budget was ever produced, the borders were unsecured, and the economy tanked due to Biden's policy, energy, and printing presses. Crises, along with insufferable government mandates, amplified and expanded from coast to coast.

 

The Green New Deal was passed by Republicans and Democrats, and the collapse of the economy came with it.

 

Clear enough?

Suddenly, as if there was no background of repeated broken promises and a complete failure to deliver on any key request, Kevin McCarthy and his legion of professionally Republican supporters pretend they cannot fathom why the base voters are more than happy to support Matt Gaetz.

 

WASHINGTON DC – Kevin McCarthy will not seek the speakership again, marking a devastating end to his time in GOP leadership.

 

The California Republican informed his members behind closed doors Tuesday night that he will forsake another attempt to win the top job after his ouster on Tuesday, according to seven people familiar with the remarks.

 

His announcement comes amid intense anger over his ouster by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and seven other GOP members, who voted with House Democrats to eject him earlier Tuesday. Most Republicans vocally opposed his eviction.

 

McCarthy told his conference that he would return to California to spend time with his family. In his stead, the House will be run by Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), his hand-picked choice as acting speaker. House Republicans have no plans to return to session until next week, scrapping their plans to try to pass party-line spending bills.

 

The vacancy atop the House is sure to set off a scramble among ambitious Republicans — one that’s likely to get dirty and dragged-out, particularly if McCarthy’s deputies try to ascend. The GOP agrees that the most obvious choices are Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) and Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.), all of whom had publicly backed McCarthy until he bowed out.

Four sources told Axios that President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken plan to call several of their counterparts in Europe and will hold a conference call with leaders of the G7 countries and several other European allies.A European diplomat told the outlet that the Biden administration told allies it is working on an agreement with Congress to allow continued military aid to Ukraine.

 

The outreach began Sunday after Congress passed a short-term fundingmeasure that was stripped of any funding for Ukraine. Biden had signed the measure into law, calling it “good news” since it kept the government funded, and said he fully expected McCarthy to “keep his commitment to the people of Ukraine and secure passage of the support needed to help Ukraine at this critical moment.” Biden also said that he had “just made” a deal with McCarthy about continuing Ukraine funding.

 

According to the report, Biden administration officials “at various levels” spoke with their counterparts in Europe and in NATO member states, “reiterating Biden’s weekend comments that U.S. aid will continue,” according to the report. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reportedly spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov late Sunday.

 

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in regards to Ukraine aid, “We are confident that it is going to continue.”

 

However — the White House’s plans could be complicated by the ouster of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) successfully led a motion to vacate.

McCarthy: A Loss for the GOP, A Win for Republicans

 

Yesterday in a virtually unprecedented move Kevin McCarthy was removed as speaker of the House. A small handful of GOP reps that actually care about the Republican base determined that McCarthy’s war on America first and Republican ideals had gone so far that they were willing to risk the wrath of party leadership to say enough. While the GOP is still a disaster at best, this is one of the best signs of hope our republic has seen in recent years.

 

So why was KM removed from his role and what does it mean? There were many reasons but let’s start with the promises he broke that allowed him to become speaker:

 

To role back IRS funding - NO ONE wants 87,000 new IRS agents to harass low and middle class Americans (they will not affect the billionaire class). McCarthy has failed to do anything about this despite having perfect opportunities to do so in the debt ceiling negotiations and the temporary funding bill he just pushed through for the democrats.

 

Removing some Dems from some Committees - he did some of this but not enough. Frankly his actions here were weak in my opinion. On a related note he has done nothing to fix the damage from the J6 Committee.

 

Investigate/Impeach Mayorkas for the Southern Border Calamity: We have had a bunch of meaningless investigations led by people you can count on to dodge real issues and do nothing but talk about their findings (COVID committee anyone?). That said we have more than enough info for impeachment proceedings against Mayorkas, Garland, Biden, and others yet we have barely been able to get an inquiry moving against the Big Guy himself.

 

Create a Select Committee on China: this was about dealing with the Chinese war on America. We the people are tired of military aged Chinese men streaming through the souther border, the absurd trade imbalances, the massive level of espionage, and the Chinese influence over most of our elected officials. What real changes have you seen to any this since KM took the speaker seat?

 

Ending Proxy Voting: Congrats - he did this.

 

To push bills focused on “culture issues” - McCarthy had plenty of opportunity to end the trans/sexualization of our kids that is occurring in the schools and doing so would have been popular across the board. He could have also protected our military from being an absurd experiment in wokism. All he had to do was to negotiate it as part of the debt ceiling or funding resolutions. He didn’t nor would he take any real actions in the future.

 

Ultimately McCarthy has acted almost exactly like McConnell but has the disadvantage of having several House members that actually have spines (compare this to the Senate). That may seem like a strong statement but nearly 80 million people went out and voted for Trump and his America first agenda last election so taking a stand on these issues that are so dear to so many should not be difficult, rather, it simply requires the courage to not sell out. Further, remember that according to the GOP party platform Trump is still the man and these guys are supposed to be supporting his agenda… not undermining him at every turn.

 

What this will mean is yet to be determined. The patriots in the House now have a real fight on their hands to ensure the new Speaker is not a sellout (good luck finding one). That said, these guys have now shown that they will actually stand for what they were elected to do so nothing is impossible. Ultimately it will come down to whether the rest of the GOP is willing to sell out to the Democrats to elect a RINO or whether they will stand with their base.

 

If the GOP were to elect a new Speaker over the objections of the patriots it would destroy the party and I would likely begin work with everyone I could find to look into the possibility of starting/supporting a viable third party. People like me would begin a push to defund all GOP related activities and we would be forced to recognize that the GOP is actually an enemy of the base.

 

Despite the massive disruption this is causing, I view this entire thing as good. I’d rather know my enemies than have to look over my shoulder and they are becoming clear. The Republicans - the people and the base - support America first policies, freedom for all, and positive economic policy for OUR country. The GOP has sold out to one-world-government and Anti-American globalists (not to mention the CCP). This move was a big win for anyone that likes America and for the Republican voters… even if or perhaps especially in light of the fact that it was a disaster for the sell-outs running the party.

Ukraine – Fague Sets In

 

The increasing fracture of support for Ukraine not only destroyed House Speaker Kevin McCarthy but is also threatening the structures of NATO.

 

The Russian government had predicted that this process would happen:

 

The Kremlin said on Monday it believed a decision by U.S. Congress to pass a stopgap funding bill that omitted aid for Ukraine was a temporary setback for Kyiv, but forecast war fatigue in the West would grow and increasingly split opinion.

Asked about the U.S. development, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he thought the setback for Ukraine was “a temporary phenomenon” and that Washington would clearly continue what he called its direct involvement in the conflict.

 

But Peskov, speaking after the party of Robert Fico won a weekend election in Slovakia pledging to end military aid to Ukraine, said that Moscow had long forecast that the West would grow increasingly weary of supporting Ukraine.

 

“But we have repeatedly said before that according to our forecasts fatigue from this conflict, fatigue from the completely absurd sponsorship of the Kyiv regime, will grow in various countries, including the United States.

 

“And this fatigue will lead to the fragmentation of the establishment and the growth of contradictions.”

 

And so it plays out: In America, Republican voters are growing increasingly pessimistic about continuing U.S. support for Ukraine, while Democratic support has ebbed but remained relatively strong, according to recent polls.

In Europe, war fatigue and domestic strain is playing out at the polls, with voters in some countries choosing leaders that are increasingly turning away from Kyiv.

 

Letting the war continue until the West gives up was and is obviously part of Russia’s political strategy. A short war and a Ukrainian capitulation to Russia’s demand for it to stay out of NATO would surely have been better. But Biden wanted to ‘weaken Russia’ and thereby a prolonged war. It had thought that Russia could not sustain a long fight.

 

But only people who did not know Russia or were misinformed about its resources would have believed such nonsense.

The former secretary of state has claimed Moscow is instigating a US political divide on support for Ukraine

 

Former US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin is “thrilled” by the growing political divide in Washington over aid to Ukraine. She also argued that the Russian leader “scores points” whenever Americans agree with the views shared by outlets such as RT.

 

In an interview with PBS’s Geoff Bennett released on Tuesday, the former secretary of state was asked how she thinks Russia perceives the growing opposition among US lawmakers to funding for Kiev.

 

Clinton suggested that Putin was not only pleased with the rift among American politicians, but was also “fomenting” it in order to “undermine democracy” and “suborn political leaders.”

 

“When I see people parroting Russian talking points that first showed up on Russia Today [RT] or first showed up in a speech from a Russian official, that’s a big point scored for Putin,” Clinton said.

 

She went on to suggest that despite the “ideological” and “partisan” political divide, the US Congress must work through its issues and ultimately pass legislation that wouldensure continued aid for Ukraine.

 

“This fight is our fight,” Clinton claimed, adding that she fails to understand how any Americans can “side” with Putin. “But we have seen it, and we have heard it, and we have to fight against it,” she declared. (Seriously fuck off!)

 

The former secretary of state’s comments come after the US Congress approved a last-minute 45-day stopgap government funding bill on Saturday that omitted any financial support for Kiev. The vote followed demands from Republican senators for military aid for Ukraine to be dropped from the spending bill, threatening to initiate a government shutdown.
