MARYLAND: Former Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby was convicted Thursday of lying about suffering financial hardship during the coronavirus to take money from her retirement savings in order to buy a pair of properties in Florida worth $1 million. After deliberating for about five hours, a federal jury found Mosby guilty of two counts of perjury. The jury’s verdict means Mosby, who served two terms as Baltimore’s chief prosecutor, faces up to 10 years in prison at sentencing, which has not been scheduled. Though it’s unlikely a judge would impose the maximum punishment for Mosby, the conviction all but ensures she’ll be stripped of her law license.

In court, Mosby looked at each juror as they filed into the room in Greenbelt. When a courtroom deputy announced the guilty verdict, her eyes began to blink more rapidly. “I’m blessed,” Mosby said as she walked away from the courthouse. “I have nothing more to say.”

Federal prosecutors haven’t officially signaled whether they intend to proceed on the related mortgage fraud charges Mosby faces.

In closing arguments, Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Zelinsky told jurors Mosby behaved as if “telling the truth didn’t matter.”

Late Wednesday, a Texas-based Federal District Court judge issued a nationwide stay preventing the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) from enforcing its rule on pistols equipped with stabilizing devices (2021R-08F).

 

The case, Britto v. ATF, challenged the “Factoring Criteria for Firearms with Attached ‘Stabilizing Braces'” rule. The ATF created the regulation after an executive order by President Joe Biden directing the Bureau to deal with pistol braces. The ATF would reverse years of classification letters and revoke previous determinations issued to brace manufacturers.

 

The Britto case challenged the rule, claiming the ATF pistol brace rule violated the Administrative Procedures Act (APA). The plaintiffs felt the final rule wasn’t a logical outgrowth of the proposed rule. The proposed rule had a point system (ATF Form 4999) that helped individuals determine if their firearm would be considered a braced pistol or short-barreled rifle (SBR). Most of the comments during the public comment period addressed concerns with the form.

 

When the final rule was unveiled, the point system was removed. The ATF considered all braced pistols on the market to be SBRs and subject to the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA). Gun owners had four choices.

 

The first choice was registering their firearm with the ATF per NFA regulations. Gun owners would have to provide pictures of the firearm’s markings, give the government fingerprints, and submit passport pictures to the ATF. Some states, such as California, do not permit NFA items.

 

The second choice is for gun owners to replace the barrel with a barrel over 16 inches. This change would make the firearm a rifle regulated under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA). It would mean that the gun owner would have to spend money on expensive rifle parts to bring their firearm into compliance. The third choice is that the gun owner could opt to remove the brace and render it non-reusable, effectively destroying the brace.

 

The final choice for the gun owner is to turn the firearm into the ATF. Many in the gun world saw this as a forced confiscation by a hostile anti-gun government agency. Firearms are not cheap, meaning that gun owners might be out several hundred to several thousand dollars. If the gun owner chose not to make any of these choices and the ATF caught them, they could be charged with a felony punishable by ten years in prison. This punishment is the same as owning an unregistered machinegun.

(Reuters via PiQSuite.com) - Baltimore's former top prosecutor Marilyn Mosby was found guilty of perjury on Thursday for falsely claiming financial duress to withdraw funds from a retirement plan.

 

A U.S. District Court jury in Greenbelt, Maryland, convicted Mosby, 42, on both federal perjury counts she faced after hours of deliberation. Each count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison. Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.

 

Elected Maryland state's attorney for Baltimore in 2014 Mosby became the youngest top prosecutor of any major U.S. city and made headlines in 2015 by criminally charging police officers for the death of a Black detainee, Freddie Gray.

 

Mosby, a Democrat, lost her bid for a third term after she was indicted on federal charges in January 2022.

 

Mosby said she was innocent of wrongdoing and the victim of a politically motivated prosecution by adversaries in the Maryland U.S. Attorney's Office seeking to ruin her re-election chances.

 

Mosby was convicted of twice falsely claiming in 2020 to have suffered a work-related financial hardship from COVID-19 in order to request two early withdrawals totaling $90,000 from her city employee retirement account.

A man who claims to be a former employee of Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska’s foundation says that the Olena Zelenska Foundation was involved with child sex trafficking. As a driver of supposedly war-endangered children, the man says that he was forced to drive children from cities in Ukraine and deliver them to pedophiles elsewhere in Europe, including in extremely wealthy and well-connected areas in London and Berlin.

A little-seen video on Youtube entitled “La Fondation Olena Zelenska est impliquée dans le trafic d’enfants” reveals the claims of a masked man who says that he transported children out of Ukraine for Olena Zelenska’s foundation, and at least one of the children made him believe that the foundation was engaging in child sex trafficking. The video was uploaded by the account “Daniel Schmidt.”

As noted by http://TheIntelDrop.org, the Olena Zelenska Foundation launched in New York City in September 2022 with a star-studded event. The launch of Olena’s foundation was hosted by the Metropolitan Opera and the guests included Democrat politician Hillary Clinton and celebrities Matt Damon and Jimmy Fallon, among others.

The Zelenska Foundation takes a special interest in overseeing “war orphans,” with the Ukraine government accusing Russia of kidnapping thousands of kids.

The man in the video makes his claims over the course of more than eight minutes speaking in French. The quotes below come word for word from the English closed captioning translation service on Youtube.

“So, here I am recording this video to tell you about what happened in Olena Zelenska’s Foundation when I worked there. After I finish, I’ll send you this video via email together with the documents, all the facts of what had happened. To start my story, it was here in France. I had a friend there who worked with different foundations. And he was the one who told me that there is a foundation that pays well in Ukraine, which offers good conditions. And so, I thought, why not? So, I contacted this foundation and then I prepared my documents and I went to Ukraine. When I came, I came to work there as a driver. They offered me this job and I signed the contract. Even the contract was something bizarre. There were clauses, for example, in the contract, that said we must not talk with children, we must not ask questions about host families, things like that. For me it was weird, but I thought, well, I’m a driver it’s not my business. I signed the contract. After signing the contract, I was given the pass. This one. Here’s the pass,” the man said in the video, before showing documentation.

Since the implementation of the new voting system in the Peach State, multiple counties have “discovered” extra votes in the 2020 Presidential Election during their mid-November 2020 hand recount. This included 2,600 votes “discovered” in Floyd County, more than 2,700 votes in Fayette County, 284 in Walton, and 293 in Douglas County. Investigative journalist Heather Mullins was on the ground in Floyd County and interviewed Elections officials about the discrepancy as it was happening:

Though the character wasn’t wholly based on the Donald—in a nod to Ted Turner, Clamp also owns a vast, niche-focused cable network—his merchandising-mad mindset and man-about-town demeanor is clearly indebted to Trump’s end-of-the-decade persona. As the '80s came to a close, Trump was famous enough to have earned his own board game and a spot alongside the Ramones and Rick Moranis in a primo Bobby Brown video. Yet he also was under increased scrutiny in his hometown, most notably from Spy magazine, which famously labeled Trump a "short-fingered vulgarian" and questioned his financial dealings.

 

At the time, Trump was "overbearing and obviously kind of goofy," says Haas. "He was an emblem of what was going on in the '80s and '90s with greed and money and crassness, and [the idea of] the whole world being for sale. But he still seemed sort of harmless."

 

“Who knew? We never imagined he’d run for president,” says director Joe Dante, who parodied Donald Trump as a major character 25 years ago in the horror comedy sequel “Gremlins 2: The New Batch.”

 

John Glover receives third billing as “Daniel Clamp,” a wacky, publicity-loving real estate developer and best-selling author who wants to level part of downtown New York to create the “Clamp Chinatown Center, where business gets oriented.”

 

Much of the action takes place at the mogul’s brand-new “Clamp Premier Regency Trade Center” in Midtown — obviously modeled on the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, which opened in 1983 — where the logo outside shows the world held in a vise.

 

“It was pretty obvious from the name who we were talking about,” says Dante, “though Clamp is also part Ted Turner, since he runs a cable empire as well. Clamp was originally supposed to be the megalomaniac villain of the piece, but he was so oddly endearing, he ended up becoming a semi-heroic figure.”

A new poll from the University of California-Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) reveals that more Californians disapprove of the job Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) is doing (49%) than approve (44%) - the first time this has happened since Newsom took office in 2019.
