Dear Member of Congress,

Reflecting on four years of achievements in his farewell address, President Trump suggested that

deregulation might have been the most significant accomplishment of all. Under his

administration, the United States government eliminated more than two old regulations for every

new regulation adopted. The results were unmistakable: a stronger economy that delivered results

for the American people.

Perhaps nowhere has this been so clear as for privately-owned freight railroads. For four years,

the Trump administration repealed unneeded regulations, rejecting special interest calls to impose

policies unrelated to the core focus of the U.S. Department of Transportation: advancing safety.

Policymaking was based on sound data, and it showed: train derailments were down on average

compared to the Obama administration.

Unfortunately, today, some Republicans are falling prey to the idea that government regulators

can deliver better results on rail than free markets and a pro-growth economy. History proves

otherwise: railroads exist today in large part due to deregulatory efforts that took place nearly half

a century ago.

Proposed legislation like the Railway Safety Act in the Senate and the Railroad Safety

Enhancement Act in the House ignores these hard lessons of the past. Purporting to respond to

the 2023 derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, many of these bills’ provisions (e.g. two-man crew

mandates) look more like regulatory opportunism, with no grounding in the facts—not even

according to the safety report compiled by a Biden-appointed National Transportation Safety

Board (NTSB).

These bills fly in the face of the Trump legacy of eliminating unnecessary, burdensome, and

costly regulations. Republicans must not turn their backs on the reality that American railroads

are safer than ever before. Despite recent high-profile incidents, hazmat incidents are down 78%

since 2000, and mainline accidents are down 44% thanks to private capital investment and

technology upgrades empowered by the free market over the years.

We already have enough regulation and stagnation. We don’t need more. We simply need to

unleash America.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Greensboro suspect in an apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump now faces formal federal charges with more pending.

 

58-year-old Ryan Routh made his first court appearance Monday morning in federal court in West Palm Beach, Florida. He received charges of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

 

The FBI arrested Routh Sunday after Secret Service agents saw the muzzle of an AK-47-style rifle pointing through shrubbery toward the former President Trump as Trump golfed on one of his courses.

Trump is safe and thanking Secret Service for quick action.

 

Many questions remain about Routh. Investigators say he currently lives in Hawaii, but for years, he lived, studied, worked, and committed crimes in Greensboro.

 

According to public records, Routh owned a company called United Roofing. WFMY News 2 went by the property on Husbands Street, which appeared to be unoccupied for some time. Neighbors and businesses in the area said they haven't seen anyone at the listed address in years, but said the company used the property to dump trash.

 

Records show Ryan Routh owned the business United Roofing in Greensboro. We went by the property, which now appears abandoned.

 

Court documents show several legal battles United Roofing has been in. Many people have sued the business in years past.

 

Routh owned many properties through Guilford County. WFMY News 2's Amber Lake drove to several of those properties and many appear abandoned. Neighbors at those properties said they haven't seen anyone come by in years.

 

Voter registration records show Routh is registered to vote in North Carolina and listed a Greensboro address. WFMY News 2 went to that address, where a neighbor said Routh lived, but moved out in May.

 

Routh lived in Greensboro before moving to Hawaii with his son to operate a shed-building company.

 

WFMY News 2 obtained footage from 2002 where Routh was accused of barricading himself in a home in Guilford County. He was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

 

Routh has a long criminal history in North Carolina, according to the Department of Adult Corrections website - from hit-and-run to possession of stolen goods.

 

CBS News found several social media profiles that appear to be connected to Routh. He posted a lot about politics, but never seemed to post any threats. Routh did, however, post quite a bit about the war in Ukraine, hoping to raise money and recruit volunteers to go over and help fight against Russia.

 

Records also show Routh divorced a few years back and has adult children.

 

He attended North Carolina A&T State University for two semesters but did not graduate.

 

WFMY News 2 is continuing to learn more about Routh's connections to Greensboro.

MoveOn is launching a “Scoop the Vote” ice crem truck tour in key swing states, which will involve giving out free Ben & Jerry’s ice cream in an attempt to coax voters into casting their ballots for Harris and other democrats, the organization announced Thursday.

 

The ice cream truck tour kicks off in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Monday, September 16 — the same day early voting begins in the key swing state.

 

The radical left-wing organization is “partnering with Ben & Jerry’s co-founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, to raffle off free, limited-edition, autographed pints of Kamala’s Coconut Jubilee,” MoveOn said.

 

From there, the ice cream truck tour will hit more than 20 cities in battleground states including Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada.

A day after the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Sen. Josh Hawley released a whistleblower report on the Secret Service’s failures in the first assassination attempt on the 45th president, including some that have never been reported on previously.

 

The Missouri Republican senator’s report found the Secret Service intelligence units were absent from the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on July 13. The intelligence units are teams of Secret Service agents that are paired with state and local law enforcement to handle reports of suspicious persons.

Hawley also found that the hospital where Trump was treated was poorly secured. His report states that the hospital site agent failed to answer basic questions regarding site security.

 

The report further highlights that neither the Secret Service, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, nor the department itself, provided answers about who made the decisions to deny counter-sniper coverage to the rooftop where the Pennsylvania shooter shot Trump.

 

The report also says neither agency would publicly name the lead site agency for the rally.

 

They also did not answer questions about reports that the Secret Service denied the Trump campaign the protection resources it requested.

 

Hawley is a member of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and is among the members of Congress to personally survey the Butler site.

Perhaps the most interesting angle to attempted Trump assassin Ryan Routh's recent history in his Ukraine connection. We documented that when he went to Ukraine to recruit for its International Legion in 2022 he was a Western mainstream media darling for a time, having been quoted on behalf of the cause to get more foreign fighters thrown into the battle against Russia by a who's who of major media sources from FT to Newsweek to the NY Times.

 

But when he arrived in Ukraine, according to these media reports, the 58-year old Routh himself was considered too old to fight alongside the Ukrainian army. "So plan B," Routh described to one outlet, "was to come to Kiev and promote the idea of many others coming to join the International Legion. We need thousands of people here to fight alongside Ukrainians."

 

"There are about 190 countries on our planet, and if the governments are not officially sending soldiers here, then we civilians should pick up this torch and make it happen," he described. He had told Newsweek in a video interview from Ukraine that the war with Russia was as simple as "good vs. evil" and essentially the same as good guys and bad guys in the Hollywood movies Americans grew up with. It was not a gray conflict, he described, but "black and white".

 

In March of 2022, just a month into the Russian invasion, he tweeted that everyone around the globe should be willing to volunteer and "fight and die" in Ukraine. Still, much of his time was reportedly spent in a hotel room in the far western city of Lviv.

 

Among the more bizarre aspects to his campaigning on behalf of the Ukrainian military's foreign legion were his efforts to recruit US-trained Afghan special soldiers to go to Ukraine's front lines. The initiative appeared so large in scale (given Routh was seeking to transfer hundreds, or even thousands, of Afghan fighters - according to his words) - that one commentator questions in light of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump: "Who was he working with in the US government that was allowing him to do this?"

 

In a 2023 interview with the NY Times Routh openly displayed his proclivity toward violent acts by threatening to shoot his critics, and the Times featured the quote almost as if lionizing his commitment to defending Ukraine:

 

In a telephone interview with The New York Times in 2023, when Mr. Routh was in Washington, he spoke with the self-assuredness of a seasoned diplomat who thought his plans to support Ukraine’s war effort were sure to succeed. But he appeared to have little patience for anyone who got in his way. When an American foreign fighter seemed to talk down to him in a Facebook message he shared with The New York Times, Mr. Routh said, "he needs to be shot."

 

Surely visibility like this put him on the federal government's radar… or given Washington's pro-Ukraine euphoria US officials were possibly even helping him in some way.

When Jesus talks about the end of the world to the Apostles, he states only the Father knows the time/day. When Jesus was about to die on the cross for all of us, he went off 3 times and Prayed to God the father.

The Schengen area (English: / ˈəən / SHENG-ən, Luxembourgish: [ˈˈæəən]) is a territory that includes 29 European countries that have officially abolished border controls at their mutual borders.

 

The German government announced plans to introduce stricter controls at all land borders of the country in order to combat irregular migration and protect the public from threats such as Islamist extremism.

 

Checks within a normally wide area of free movement - the European Schengen zone - will begin on Sept. 16 and will initially last six months, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said on Monday.

 

The government has also drafted a program that will allow the authorities to reject more migrants directly at the German borders, Faeser said, without adding details about the controversial and legally difficult step.

 

The restrictions are part of a series of measures taken by Germany to tighten its stance on irregular migration in recent years following a surge in arrivals, especially of people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East.

 

Recent deadly knife attacks, in which the suspects were asylum seekers, have stoked concerns about immigration. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for a knife attack in the western city of Solingen that killed three people in August.

 

Polls show that it is also the biggest concern of voters in the state of Brandenburg, where elections will be held in two weeks.

 

Scholz and Faeser's center-left Social Democrats (SPD) are fighting for control of the government there, in a vote that is considered the SPD's strength test before the federal election next year.

We assume that Switzerland, which is not a member of the EU but a member of the Schengen area, will follow suit. Italy has no border to close, but France does. In the meantime, Germany has actively participated in the Beggar-thy-neighbor refugee policy of the EU member states. Except that if Germany plays this game, it will have much more serious consequences. This is a serious threat to the whole idea of Schengen. This is where the dissolution of Europe could begin.

 

Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock warned her colleagues not to jeopardize the EU's migration deal and not to succumb to the illusion that European countries can solve the refugee problem at the national level.

Schengen is enshrined in the Treaty. No country will propose any changes. Instead, each country will ignore the treaty due to a "higher law".

The long documented criminality of the pharmaceutical industry nearly knows no bounds. It should come as no surprise that they are once again in the hot seat.

 

It was one of those conversations you never forget. We were discussing – of all things – the Covid injections, and I was questioning the early ‘safe and effective’ claims put forward by the pharmaceutical industry. I felt suspicious of how quickly we had arrived at that point of seeming consensus despite a lack of long-term safety data. I do not trust the pharmaceutical industry. My colleague did not agree, and I felt my eyes widen as he said, “I don’t think they would do anything dodgy.” Clearly, my colleague had not read the medical history books. This conversation slapped me out of my own ignorance that Big Pharma’s rap sheet was well-known in the profession. It isn’t.

 

With this in mind, let’s take a look at the history of illegal and fraudulent dealings by players in the pharmaceutical industry; an industry that has way more power and influence than we give them credit for.

 

Before I continue, a word (not from our sponsor). There are many people working in this industry who have good intentions towards improving healthcare for patients, dedicating their lives to finding a cure or treatment for disease. Some therapeutic pharmaceuticals are truly life-saving. I probably wouldn’t be here today were it not for a couple of life-saving drugs (that’s a story for another time). But we must be very clear in our understanding. The pharmaceutical industry, as a whole and by its nature, is conflicted and significantly driven by the mighty dollar, rather than altruism.

 

There are many players and different games being played by the industry. We ignore these at our peril. The rap sheet of illegal activities is alarming. It seems that barely a month goes by without some pharmaceutical company in court, somewhere. Criminal convictions are common and fines tally into the billions. Civil cases, with their million-dollar settlements, are abundant too.

 

A 2020 peer-reviewed article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association outlines the extent of the problem. The group studied both the type of illegal activity and financial penalties imposed on pharma companies between the years 2003 and 2016. Of the companies studied, 85 percent (22 of 26) had received financial penalties for illegal activities with a total combined dollar value of $33 billion. The illegal activities included manufacturing and distributing adulterated drugs, misleading marketing, failure to disclose negative information about a product (i.e. significant side effects including death), bribery to foreign officials, fraudulently delaying market entry of competitors, pricing and financial violations, and kickbacks.

Bank records of Thomas Crooks reveal a few unusual payments to two individuals, Ryan Routh and Peter Riddle. We attempted to contact Ryan Routh through his Facebook account, but the messages weren’t delivered, which is another unusual aspect of this case. The home of the other suspect, Peter Riddle, in Virginia, has been locked since July.

Ex-BBC Presenter Huw Edwards Spared Prison over Child Sex Images

 

Former top BBC presenter Huw Edwards has avoided prison time despite being found guilty of possessing paedophilic images of children, merely receiving a six-month suspended sentence on Monday.

 

Huw Edwards, who previously served as the British Broadcasting Corporation’s lead news anchor, will avoid being sent to jail after a court found that he did not pose a risk to the public or children and had suffered from mental illness during the time in which he acquired sexual images of children.

 

The ex-BBC presenter pled guilty in July to three counts of making indecent images of children. The court heard that Edwards had been in contact with convicted paedophile Alex Williams between 2018 and 2022 and received 377 images, 41 of which were classified as indecent, meaning that they were sexual images of children.

 

One of the photos was of a child between the ages of seven and nine years old, while others contained labelled including “13-year-old” and “adolescents”. Edwards is said to have paid hundreds of pounds to Williams in exchange for pictures and videos. While some of the communications — many of which were not recovered — showed Edwards telling Williams not to “send anything underage,” he later told the convicted paedophile to “go on” to an offer of being sent “young” pictures, the BBC reports.

 

Yet, despite the heinous nature of his crimes,Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspringruled that Edwards no longer posed a risk and therefore prison time was not necessary. The former BBC bigwig will instead only receive a suspended sentence of six months, attend sex offender rehabilitation programmes, and be placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.

 

Goldspring said that he was convinced that Edwards had a mental disorder during the time of the offences and that he did not remember which pictures he had viewed, saying: “You did not keep them and you did not send them on to anyone else. I accept that you had issues with your mental health. The degree that you received sexual gratification from the images is difficult to assess.”

Italy fined and blocked the Doctors Without Borders (MSF) ship for docking at the port of Salerno without properly informing maritime security authorities about its rescue operations in the Mediterranean. The NGO denies these accusations, labeling them as “inhumane” and claiming that they merely fulfilled their legal obligation to save lives at sea.

 

MSF also reported conducting five rescue operations on August 23, receiving a sanction for not providing timely information about one of these rescues. The Italian government, led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni , has emphasized the need for a single rescue operation to regain control and set limits on immigration.

 

The plan, approved by the Italian Senate, has raised concerns because Albania is not a member of the European Union and thus is not bound by EU regulations on the treatment and deportation of asylum seekers. The agreement specifies that women and children will not be transferred to Albania.

 

In 2023, more than 157,000 people arrived in Italy by sea, with the government struggling to control the influx. Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party, which campaigned on a strong anti-illegal immigration platform in 2022, has faced criticism for not doing enough to stop the boats. Meanwhile, those supporting the continuous and unregulated flow of immigrants have been accused of indirectly collaborating with human traffickers.

 

On the other side, countries like Hungary have been sanctioned for not complying with EU regulations, as they defend their sovereignty and borders against what they see as imposed policies.

It’s midday on Nov. 7, two days after the election. And although the networks haven’t called the race yet, things are looking pretty Trumpy.

 

Trump, you see, has been declared the winner in Pennsylvania (Kamala Harris should’ve picked Shapiro.) He’s also flipped Georgia back into the GOP column and held onto North Carolina by roughly a percentage point. And although Harris has won Michigan and Wisconsin, and it looks like she’ll pull out Nevada and probably Arizona — which take some time to count their votes due to the preponderance of mail ballots —her math just doesn’t add up.

 

Even with both those states in hand, she’d tally 268 electoral votes, one shy of the number needed for a tie (which would probably be resolved for Trump in the U.S. House) and two short of the threshold for a win outright.At Polymarket, Harris is a 30:1 underdog.

 

Game over, right?

 

Well, not so fast. On NBC,Steve Kornacki holds up a whiteboard, echoing the late, great Tim Russert. On it are written three words: “Alaska, Alaska, Alaska”. The Last Frontier hasn’t finished counting its votes either, but early returns are surprisingly positive for Harris, a state that Democrats have won just once in the state’s history, in 1964. With Arizona and Nevada and Alaska, Harris would win the Electoral College — just barely.

 

Is this some sort of progressive election nerd wet dream? Yeah, probably. But our election model’s job is to think through every plausible scenario. And it thinks this contingency is possible, albeit unlikely.

France chooses Sejour as a candidate for the European Commission after the Breton shock

PARIS/BRUSSELS, Sept 16 (Reuters) - France has chosen French foreign Minister Stephane Séjour as its new candidate for the next European Commission while outgoing president Thierry Breton abruptly resigned on Monday with harsh words for the re-elected EU chief executive Ursula von der Leyen.

 

It was an unexpected turn of events in the highly political transition of power from the EU that follows the European elections in June and in which key jobs in the bloc's powerful decision-making institutions are distributed for the next five years.

 

But abandoning Breton, who had publicly opposed von der Leyen, was the price to be paid for France to keep a big portfolio in the next European Commission team, which von der Leyen is expected to announce this week.

 

A source close to the matter said that President Emmanuel Macron had negotiated a reinforced mandate of executive vice-president for the internal market and industry for the French candidate, supervising a group of commissioners.

 

As the second largest EU member state, France has made it clear that it wants a major position in the reshuffle of key positions in the EU institutions that will follow the June elections.

 

"The President has always sought to obtain a key European Commission portfolio for France, focused on issues of industrial, technological sovereignty and European competitiveness," Macron's office said in a statement.

 

Sejour, 39, is a Macron loyalist, a close ally who chairs his party and a former EU legislator who led the party's ticket in the 2019 European Parliament elections.

 

He has kept a low profile at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he has headed since January, and where he respected and defended Macron's line.

 

In his resignation letter, Breton said that von der Leyen had asked France "a few days ago" to withdraw his name as a choice for the Commission "for personal reasons" in exchange for an "allegedly more influential portfolio".

 

"In light of these latest developments - further evidence of questionable governance - I must conclude that I can no longer perform my duties at the College," Breton said in the letter.

 

But the relationship between Breton and von der Leyen has deteriorated in recent months. The French Commissioner, a liberal, angered von der Leyen by publicly criticizing her appointment as the candidate of the European conservative party EPP to head the Commission for a second term, EU officials said.

 

Breton's public spats with Musk had also been met with dismay by other colleagues on the Commission, officials added.

 

Nevertheless, the latest developments came as a surprise, said a person with direct knowledge of the case, adding that Breton was to be reappointed by von der Leyen.

 

This decision can also be seen as a power play between the two biggest heavyweights in the EU - Germany and France, von der Leyen's country of origin - to find out who is leading the blows in the EU at a time when Macron is weakened at home after losing the European and French legislative elections.

'Great disgrace': High-profile British-Jewish journalists resign JC over scandal

Multiple journalists, including Jonathan Freedland, Hadley Freeman and David Aaronovitch have resigned from the Jewish Chronicle following a recent scandal in which a freelancer published erroneous claims. David Baddiel is also reported to have left.

 

This comes after the JC announced on Saturday that it had decided to fire a freelance journalist, Elon Perry, following a thorough investigation after his report on Hamas's supposed plan to smuggle hostages to Iran was proven to be false.

Jonathan Freedland's resignation letter, which he posted to X/Twitter, explains that "the latest scandal brings great disgrace on the paper, publishing fabricated stories and showing only the thinnest form of contrition - but it is only the latest. Too often, the JC reads like a partisan, ideological instrument, its judgements political rather than journalistic."

 

He expressed deep sadness at leaving, speaking of his long-standing attachment to the JC, which he has written for since 1998, and which his father wrote for since 1951.

 

"[The JC has] been part of my life from the start: my birth was announced on its pages, as was my marriage and the death of my loved ones," he said. "Between [my father] and me, a Freedland has appeared regularly in the Jewish Chronicle for nearly 75 years."

Banks Urged to Defund Farming Industry to Limit Meat & Dairy Consumption

 

Major banks are being urged to stop financing the global farming industry as part of an effort to force limits on the general public’s meat and dairy consumption.

 

A collective of over 100 climate groups, led by Friends of the Earth, is pressuring JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, and other private banks to stop financing global meat and dairy companies.

 

According to a report from Agriculture Dive, the groups argue that the institutions’ lending activities undermine their environmental commitments.

 

An open letter from groups to some of the world’s biggest banks calls for a halt on any new financing that expands industrial livestock production.

 

The banks are being pressured to add requirements that meat, dairy, and feed clients disclose their climate action plans.

 

The letter calls out the banks by name for supporting the world’s biggest meat, dairy, and animal feed producers like JBS, Tyson Foods, and others.

 

While food companies are a small part of the banks’ overall lending portfolios, the groups say they have a much bigger impact on the institutions’ environmental footprints.

 

The letter says increased lending has let the world’s biggest emitters grow their operations and emissions.

 

According to research from Profundo and Feedback Global, from 2019 to 2022, financial institutions granted 15% more credit to the largest meat, dairy, and feed corporations than the previous four years.

He wrote that bank records revealed Thomas Crooks from the 1st assassination attempt, made unusual payments to two individuals… Including Ryan Routh, from the Second Assassination Attempt

—— he even connected Maxwell Yearick as a CIA Operative who trained Ryan Routh…

 

But here’s the weird part…

 

I used the way back machine and found the that this information WAS NOT part of the original article; meaning, this information was added recently.
